What happened to N7000 support? - PAC Q&A

Hi Guys,
Just curious as to why N7000 suddenly (well, a few months ago now) got dropped support from the PAC guys....???
I thought PACROM's were blind-built on the whole, much like how CM builds are... And providing it still has a device tree, it doesn't matter if their is no maintainer...??
Much like when PACROM went from JellyBean to KitKat, I believe someone from the official PAC team said, if it's supported under JB, it'll be continued supported under KK....
Even if it was dropped because their is no maintainer, why did the old builds have to disappear too...??? Odd??
Would be great to see it come back, ready for Lollipop builds... please someone, make it happen...
thanks, Lister

We never allowed blind-builds for PAC. Your maintainer probably didn't update his threads and that's why it got dropped from nightly.

Hi Nick0703,
Thanks for the prompt reply... Oh, I see... So there will be no further updates, unless a new maintainer for N7000 makes an appearance...?? Who was the previous maintainer for N7000, if you can remember...?
Pity, would of been fun to see Android 5 PAC on N7000....
Cheers, Lister

Hi @Nick0703,
Even though the rom files for our device had long been removed, even for old time sake?? I see our build /N7000 folder has now also gone...?
Any idea's who the previous maintainer was please...??
The last couple of releases, I've had to resort to dodgy Chinese builds for the i9220 device. Which, although they do work (and grateful to the Chinese person who builds them), they contain a lot of Chinese Apps.... and the Keyboard input method needs replacing after flashing...
It would be great to find a more solid and reliable maintainer....
Thanks, Lister

With the eventual release of Grand 2 sometime soon, I don't think Samsung will deliver 4.4 on our device.
And the devs has not yet managed to stabilize CM 10.2, let alone CM 11. It might take months from now, be patient.
If you can't, you probably should've bought a Nexus device.

It's not about which device get released first, but it's about its market target and the product line it is included in. S and Note lines get the updates first because those are Samsung flagships and they're released worldwide. Grand is a midrange device and is specifically targeted where dual sim demand is high (India, China, SE Asia, etc) not the U.S. and Europe. That's why Grand doesn't get the attention they get, and our forums is placed in "Legacy & Low Activity Devices" section.

True yet we got 4.2.2 official before note 2 or s series got 4.3,,though being a mid range device it mde a lot of sales records here in india overall i agree with you note and s series are the flagships even phones like grand and mega should also be included with regard to the updates thats ma own opinion because as google doesn’t discriminate in the same way Samsung shouldn't and i also read smewr bout grand to end its update cycle to 4.2.2 hopefully that must be false if thrs sme base far 4.3 cm 11 can be developed!!!

I think TouchWiz is to blame for the lack of updates to midrange devices... It takes simply too much time and resources for Samsung to make Touchwiz work on newer Android versions and they see it not worth the time and money to update midranges.
The day Samsung decides to stop updating our device is the day we rely to rom devs. The beauty of Android. :good:
No chance of official 4.4, even if Samsung decides to give us 4.4 it will not be before the next android version. Legacy and low level device doesnt mean we can't have a stable cm11 or cm10.2. We have the developers working on 10.2 and I would applaud their efforts for fixing almost everything. For now our device is dependent on pawitp and lets hope he removes some time for fixing RIL of cm 10.2. Once 10.2 is sorted we can have a cm11 compiled by k2wl. One thing I have noticed is that cm10.2 is running into the same problems as 10.1. Like ril and microphone. I'm guessing cm10.2 devs have had a look at pawitp's patches for the respective problems. Until then keep you're fingers crossed and don't loose hope.:good:

I think they have already made a look on them because kingbabasula had shared dual sim soutces released on cms github so its pretty close smewr that they hve looked on the patches as slimbean and resurrection remix hve been worked over cyanogenmod 10.1's sources provided by pawitp but you never know lets wait and watch if k2wl replies and i only felt we might get 4.4 because i read google has reportedly said it can work flawlessly even on low end devices wid 2 or 300mb ram capacity because of its sleekness then why not on grand lets just wait i have heck lot of hopes from XENON92 hes my fav developer:beer::thumbup:

Only commit to cm11 for the device tree recently came originally from me (support for installing on a hardware variant) and was committed almost a month ago by the previous maintainer (codeworx).

Haven't looked what has been going on in the kernel, but IIRC that source is shared between a few devices.

[ROM] [Nightlies] [4.4.4] Nameless Rom [Official]

Hi all
Apparently Nameless ROM have been making nightlies for N7000 for quite some time now
you can find them here http://sourceforge.net/projects/namelessrom/files/n7000/
These seem to be official but there is no thread for it so I making one here.
I have downloaded it and seems pretty fine to me though I haven't ran it for one full cycle yet
I don't maintain this release and just posting link that I found on internet.
Happy flashing

Hi @tysonraylee,
Yeah, Nameless Rom has been available for our Note (N7000) for quite some time now.... They were originally maintained by the great @herna...
However, for reasons I can't explain... He left the project some time ago, which is a pity.... Although thankfully for us, they were/are still being compiled on a regular basis... And apparently word has it, work on Nameless Rom 2.0 is under way, which will hopefully mean we'll see Android 5.0 Nameless Rom to our device too...
But yeah, it's great to make people aware of these roms, as there are many that don't get noticed...
Cheers, Lister

yes my thoughts same I didn't knew that carbon was making ROMs for N7000 until I decided to move from C-Rom and go look for another and now its the with Nameless and surely there are other ROMs that go unnoticed.
I thought it would be good to let people know
About Android 5.0, I am pretty sure we will get it sometime as I have read that Android One devices now have a working 5.0 port and our Note is way better than those devices in specs
Its just a matter of time
REVENGE SOLVES EVERYTHING
It depemds not to have a device with better specs it depends to have the needed Source code and that's the problem for our Note 1

BlissRom for SM-T900

Hey everyone!
I have been blessed to recently get the Tab Pro 12.2 (SM-T900).. Amazing tablet!
I am on TeamBliss, and I am the dev for the great LG GProJ (rom & Official TWRP maintainer) & the Galaxy Note 10.1.. It took me a LONG time (and a lot of frustration) to get a perfect build of Bliss 5.1.1 for the Note 10.1, and before I get started on the 12.2, I wanted to see if the tablet is popular enough for me to post Bliss builds here.. I don't see many custom roms listed, so I wasn't sure if it was due to lack of devs or lack of users.. I would start with 5.1.1, and then try for 6.0 as it becomes more stable. I also enjoy adding features to the kernels, such as governors/schedulers and U/O Clocking.
Any input is appreciated!
Happy Holidays Everyone!

Would love to see BLISS ROM. I was hoping more devs would come over to build AOSP builds.
It looks like it is probably the only way we stand a chance to get Marshmallow on this device.
By all means, do it! I just finished up with finals, and was planning on seeing if I could figure out how to build marshmallow tomorrow haha. I was going to go from cm though. What is bliss rom?
Would love to see your ROM on my T900.

Go to www.BlissRoms.com, and you can see some stuff about us.. We've been around a while, and support a lot of devices..Bliss has tons of features..You can go to my two threads I listed in the first post and see lots of satisfied users.. Hopefully, I'll have a build listed tonight or tomorrow.
Would love to try this too. The 12.2 needs some love. Admittedly, Marshmallow is of greater interest though.
I have always wanted to try your rom! Please bring us Bliss lol.
Marshmallow on 12.2 would be so incredible.
Thank you so much for showing interest in the SMT900.
Yes please! Love my 12.2
lack of devs, not users. all new roms are welcome here. And will be appreciated
Yes! This beast of a tablet needs some Bliss. I am more than willing to test anything you would like to build for us.
Hey guys.. Sorry it's been a while since I posted.. So I've been working on a build in my free time, and I have a successful 5.1.1_r30 build I am testing now. I am an IT Admin full time, and have 6 year old son, so I don't have a lot of time, but I try to make time as much as I can.
I have updated the kernel from Linux 3.4.104 to 3.4.106, and added some governors and schedulers. I focused on governors specified for gaming, and a couple for battery/performance balance. I plan on getting the kernel updated to 3.4.110, but there are a ton of patches in between those versions. Over 700 if I remember right. I applied around 300 or more updating from 104 to 105 then 106.
I know we are up to 6.0 now, but since Bliss is still in the works for 6.0, I really wanted to get a stable 5.1 before moving on.
I will run the build overnight, and if all is good, I'll post tomorrow, so keep a lookout!

I know how you feel, the t-900 had no roms either besides cm12 until wargear started building and I learned how to make roms from stock firmware pulls. many devs will help you in building if you pm them nicely for the guilds/tools they use.
since you have the device you could always try to do it yourself https://www.google.com/search?q=how...2&ie=UTF-8#q=how+to+build+android+from+source
I am definitely ready for this rom. Recently went back to stock for added functionality but I hate touchwiz.
@nerdyblonde
just wonedering if you are using kitkat or lollipop sources from samsung to compile (bc if you are on 5.1.1 firmware you have some lags running roms built on kitkat stock sources and need to downgrade firmware to eliminate lags)

Welcome to the forum! Bliss is indeed a solid rom and a nice addition here. Like a couple others here I've been banging away at getting past 6.0s hardware and processor problems took forever to get a solid 5.11 build and hoped 6.0 would carrythrough.... alas not to be! Working on Cm Slim and Liquid all have the same f2fs build error... any shared info would be appreciated and cheerfully reciprocated!

ZTE said that they were going to do everything they could to help officially support Cyanogenmod on the Axon 7. Well, that project is now called Lineage OS. It would make me feel better if we could get an official response from ZTE. Otherwise, I'm just going to assume that they're just like every other Chinese manufacturer, and only care about releasing new phones instead of supporting older ones (I'm looking at you Huawei).

From what I recall, the agreement ZTE made was with an employee of Cyanogen. That person (who provided backing & assistance to the Cyanogenmod project) has since left the company, and Cyanogen Inc. has gotten out of the whole "community OS" aspect of the company, and closed Cyanogenmod up. The community that operates Lineage has no sort of ties to ZTE, nor business ties to another company (like Cyanogenmod was to Cyanogen Inc.).
ZTE did, however, send some files to the volunteer community team working on CM13. iirc, it wasn't all that helpful, but it was something at least...
LineageOS will officially support the Axon 7. Now only an early alpha is available with the typical problems of early versions, however an official support means a commitment. I contacted them to let them know that the ROM in the official page was for another device. They fixed it after a few hours with the LineageOS 14.1 v2016.12.30, they also told me that there will be more news on this device very soon.
Fingers crossed that very soon means this week. I can't believe the amount of love the one+ receives over our A7. We have dual speakers & an SD slot!!!

They don't...our Lineage support was done by a team member not even by me. Support for 14.1 is not true though. I'm the only person at the moment who has 14.1 in development. Although ZTE has nothing to do with Lineage support they have provided me code to help bringup N development.
Nice to hear that they are helping.

LineageOS officially supporting the ZTE Axon 7 doesn't mean ZTE is supporting LineageOS. There are dozens of devices supported by LineageOS without official support from their manufacturers. However the success of Nougat for this device will depend on the release of the kernel code by ZTE to everyone.

These are good, very good news. If ZTE is willing to share their code, even before the official release, custom ROMs will have a much quicker development time, less buggy, and more people will purchase this excellent device. ZTE seems to be learning the lesson.
I am looking forward to the development for this device and the ZTE Axon 7 mini.
Hope there will be a lot of alternative ROMs ... :good:
