4.4.4 animated flourescent green notification bar during call - Xperia Z2 General

During a call the notification/status bar at the top really wants to let you know you're on a call. It turns a ridiculous color green with an animated wave running through it.
Were they serious with this? It has got to be the worst choice ever. It conflicts with everything - except - maybe what they did to the Hobbit's Shire on Blu-ray. 1983 called and wants their CGA color scheme back.
Can this be changed? How can I express my... concern to Sony?
And the lock screen clock. Ugh. What the heck Sony?

Don't like it - make your own rom....
It could be Fluro Pink for all I care regarding the ongoing call colour of the status bar, and the clock? Change it if you don't like it. Jeez...

Green can be okay but what they've selected is horrid.
The clock is something very similar that appeared in an earlier version of 4.x and then quickly disappeared. Probably because people found it ugly. They should have known better. Replacing the lock screen is easy if I want to give yet another company personal info but... recommending to someone to unlock their bootloader, create a new ROM and install is insane to take care of the flourescent green.

does this bar random my appear? I don't see it for all calls.

It is active when you go to another app while calling.
I LIKE IT!!

It's absolutely unbelievable that Sony don't want to listen every single one of us...can you believe that?
Green colour is used because you have exactly the same (check with hex colour codes) colour of call button.
That's the feature you'll see few times only, can it be you are having problems with it?!
It can be changed without any problems.
Extract apk to your PC decompile it and change 9.pngs and xml/smali (java) code.
Recompile and sign it and you'll have your own colour...
If I built another theme I'll theme that as well..

Side Bar

Hi,
I've been using my new HD2 for almost a week and I'm very happy with it. I've a little problem, however, that the special function of the side bar has disappeared. That is, when you press the side roll bar, it will become bigger and make you easier to control and roll the bar up/down. But this morning when i press the side bar, it doesn't enlarge itself, though i'm still able to roll it up and down. I really love to have it enlarged when pressed. Can you tell me how to make this function work again? Thanks.
noticed mine has disapeared too, i had to hard reset my phone for a different reason and it still hasnt come back. i`d really like it back too.

I think they're talking about scroll bars that get bigger when you put your thumb/finger on them.
Guys - what applications are they not working in? Do they work, for example, in file explorer?

its not present in any applications, its like it was an app itself and somehow been deleted. like i said i`v hard reset a couple of times for various reasons but been missing that scroll bar icon for a while now. to me its not the end of the world but it can be a bit fiddly at times.
You know what? This is totally strange!
Reading this post I said to myself: let's check. Stupor, the magnifying part of the scroll bar is gone, vanished!
I wonder if the guys from HTC are aware of that…
Well mine still works. Have you guys been adding any theme mods?
Maybe you folks changed the theme?
The biggie smalls scrollbars only work on the default HTC Black theme, if you select one of the WM6.5 designer themes or download your own the magic scrollbars will be turned off.

You're right! I changed back from Rock and Republic black theme to HTC Black and is working.
maybe it can be done a port of it on the other themes.

Maybe, that would be nice.
The thing that's stopped me from getting new themes for the HD2 is exactly the loss of those scrollbars.

OS samsung is not well made. Or is it the screen...

Hey didn't really read anything abouth this, but the os part of the phone from samsung is really getting to annoy me. It's pretty ugly and doesn't look good...
I am wondering if I am the only one with this. Is it the screen or is it just not well made? Because it also looks like some banding.
I will give some examples but you can see it everywhere...
Like the battery icon when your phone is off and you are charging, wtf is that? It's banded like wth...
Also these two next examples are bad. Can you check if yours is the same?
It seems with a screenshot it's pretty normal on my laptop screen. On my phone it's not like that. How are these examples with your phones??
In this first pick, look at the grey from every different alarm. On my phone it is very banded!! Not smooth at all like this picture, some pink lines in between and stuff...
Here you should lok at the grey of the keyboard. And the green telephone button. Doesn't look smooth in my phone.
I also have a question abouth, some burn in? When i pull down the pull down menu/notification bar, and I watch the bar where your thumb is up, it chancges slightly in color i noticed. When i look closer, i could see that what is behind the bar is visible for abouth 10-15 sec and than it fades. So i could read the word contacts pretty good, when i pulled it all the way down, so it's kind of a burn in for sometime? Is this normal and can ohter people check this on their phone? Thanks
Yes I agree it's pretty ugly, use go launcher, go contacts and go sms pro, much better looking...

Yeah ok, the look is something else, everybody has it own taste.
But i was talking abouth the banding on the grey of the numeric keyboard, and the alarm for example...
At these screenshot they look pretty normal, but on my phone they don't look like that...
So is it the screen that make them look like that???
Do these things look the same on your phone screen as on your pc screen? Or do you also have banding on these things?
PC screen is not the phone screen stupid to compare them .
For what is worth I see no banding on Dialpad on phone likewise ringer volume .
jje
There is a topic about the banding, I think it's a software issue it probably doesnt use 24bit color depth, just use go contacts/dialer

Yeah i know it's stupid. But you should think it is optimised for the phone.
On the dialpad I see banding on every number's grey "button".
And it is not the ringer volume, that was an accident when i made the print screen, I accidently pushed the ringel volume at the same time.
It's the grey from every alarm, very banding on my phone...
So if you don't have it, my screen is defect?

Factory reset first to clear any problems .

I am sure the screen response will loosen up over time. I noticed too initially but it's all okay now.
I remember first two weeks of my tv was almost painful to watch while the pixels caught up with the action. Maybe oled isn't much different to lcd in that respect

New update is annoying

I just have updated the new software today. The good news is that we can hide the navigation bar. The bad news is we only have 7 colors for the navigation bar to choose from, and there is no dark color. I use to have the black navigation bar so I found this update terrible
Is anyone share the same opinion??
This is probably to stop people from using a black background which will cause uneven wear of the display.

Maybe not the answer everyone wants but this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jaouan.skinnednavbar&hl=en works great for bringing back the black navbar. And you can use this without any of the emoji's on it; just plain black navbar.
I don't see that hide nav bar feature...

Google it. It's not difficult.
Black nav bar will result in uneven screen wear. I didn't say cost, I said screen wear.
I have a black navbar. I have always had a black navbar. It actually helps preserve battery life. A black navbar has never caused me issues.

This app does bring back the black bar but it keeps the phone awake. So the lock screen doesn't time out in the normal way. It times out after the same amount of time you set the system time out to. This has caused major battery drain when it turns on in my pocket from the virtual home button being so easy to push (even at the least sensitive setting) has anyone else found an alternative app that solves the problem in the same way but doesn't keep the phone from sleeping?

Notification panel turns black on its own.

My notification panel turns black on its own. Then it stays black for some time and then return to its original white color. Although it is not much of a concern to me, but i would like to know whether this is normal, and what causes the color of the notification panel to change?
Yup .. Noticed that too. My notification panel turns dark when I put dark wallpaper, and when I change to light wallpaper, itu turns white .

Thanks for the reply. I tried it and it is as you said. Never thought of that. I mostly use dark wallpaper so never noticed that. Now i wonder whether this happens with other phones or it is just limited to this phone. Overall, i think it is a great feature.

Material dark theme cannot be implemented system-wide without root changes / third party app. This is default optimization by Google for Android (not their best work for sure), will probably be corrected in Pie.

Totally agree. What's even worse is if you have CONTACTS icons on your home screen (e.g. using contact shortcut widget). They all get a white frame, when the contact pictures were already round framed. The contact faces now get shrunk to a minimum, and they look small, sad and terrible in the frame.
**** What were they thinking? ****
The option to remove the frame has been dropped from the UI. The only option is to load a custom icons set from Themes... I did that and it sort of fixes the issue. Only problem then is I don't really like any of the icons set I've seen in half hour (can't spend more time on this), and after switching icons I now see Icon badges don't show when they should.
Pretty mad altogether. Why, oh why must Samsung always do something to spoil an otherwise very good update?
Also (off topic, but I need screaming about this...) - In my entirely personal opinion, the new PIE icons are ***** to begin with. They have nothing to do with the style of the device and are just goofy. I wasn't a particular fan of the OREO icons, but, in the end, they were WAY better for this device than the new ones.
