[Q] Request Tutorial Kali Linux NetHunter - Galaxy Tab 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

A full tutorial on how to install Kali Linux Nethunter On SM-T330NU will be nice
Can Be Only Kali Linux too
Thanks You

I second this inquiry. Would be much easier than busting out the netbook.

Bump!! just looking for help with starting a port
<edit>
update #1 - I have built a kali nethunter kernel for the sm-t330nu, however am currently at a standstill due to "qualcomm secure boot".
I am able to flash CF_AUTOROOT, or philz touch recovery, but not able to flash my kernel to test or even load into fastboot. So project is stalled untill i can bypass csb secure boot. </edit>

Well,at this point, Im back and forth between kali kernel flashing (still no luck due to the selinux/knox issues with samsung) and attempting to build a slim, pre-rooted rom for the same device. (same issue) So, sadly untill im able to remove these obstacles, or someone comes out with an insecure kernel for this device, im stuck.
p.s. This is also my first real attempt at any android dev..... so option #2 is far more likely lol
p.p.s for more info on my struggle check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/help/qualcomm-secure-boot-weird-issue-t3065875 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2702567 big thanks to MOONBUTT74 for all the help!

Any updates?

[DEV] MultiROM WIP discussion [flounder][arm64]

I thought I'd post here my (and the people who helped me) progress on porting MultiROM to the HTC Nexus 9.
Contributors (so far, tell me if I miss anyone)
@Bogdacutu for his port of MultiROM on the Shield Tablet (The arm stuff)
@USBhost for testing as well as helping with the patch (patch is still WIP, more on this later)
@Tasssadar for MultiROM all together
@Unjustified Dev for his influence
Progress
Working: Multirom TWRP has been successfully compiled for flounder and has working ADB and MTP.
Partially Working WIP: MultiROM boot selector source has been ported to work with arm64. The multirom boot selector compiles for flounder in zip format and launches at device boot. However, touch does not work and there is no ADB at the moment.
Not Working WIP: The kexec hardboot patch currently does not work so the Nexus 9 is currently unable to boot another ROM other than the primary one.
Source
All sources can be found here (I know some of them may not work and may be a little messy but this is still a work in progress)

MultiROM TWRP
Building Notes
I compile this with the CyanogenMod Device Tree. Instructionsfor building multirom can be found on the multirom wiki found here
Note: adbd and kexec-tools need to be replaced with these versions that are arm64 compatible

One more
I might have found a repository that may help us out with the kexec hardboot patch on arm64.
There are many commits here that relate to kexec on arm64
Very glad to hear!! Sooper work :thumbup:
This may also pose useful for the arm64 instructions
...
Looks like kexec-tools may need to have a lot of changes for arm64.
There are the changes made on a more recent version or android tools (not the one for android/multi-rom). I think this commit may be helpful but changes would have to be made.
Re-based many of the repositories on MR64 the other day. Now I need to test....
Also, the kexec tools function for flounder is completely re-written so maybe kexec will work?
I'll have to try to test when I have a lot of free time...
Is this going to work to get Linux kexecboot working? I really would like to have Linux running natively on this tablet....
Any updates on the project?
Any news on this, hoping for developments so that progress can be made for oneplus2 and multirom?
Thanks

Is there any deving goin on on this? I think its way too hard. kexec isnt x64 compatible. (The binary itself isnt. How will youll port hardboot ) First we will have to add x64 support to that. I have seen your commits. That isnt x64 supported too.
Please update me on this, im building on op2 if this works. Thanks <3

I know you've put this project on hold for the time being, but I would like to jump in on this dev-tastic venture. I got a Nexus 9 (LTE) for Christmas*, and wanted to let you know that you don't have to bear the burden of building/testing/debugging/etc. all by yourself. I am fairly well versed in the mechanics of MultiROM, and have been (and still am) a user of MR on my Nexus 7 (2013) since v28 . . and honestly, without MR on my Nexus 7, I probably wouldn't have the pen. testing abilities that have enabled me to offer those additional services to my clients (i.e., security consultation, data breach prevention, etc.).
My point is that I owe a lot to Tasssadar and the "MultiROM for Android" concept in general, so I am happy to give back in any way that I can.
The Nexus 9 has been my dream Android device ever since the rumor mill was buzzing with notions of a Nexus tablet with an ARM v8 (ARM64) based Tegra variant!!
Let me know if/when you wanna get this thing off the ground again, and I'll make myself available as much as possible.
FULL DISCLOSURE: Although I am fairly versed regarding MultiROM and it's mechanics (kexec-hardboot, modifications to TWRP, etc.), I don't have much experience when it comes to ARM v8. However, I am pretty fluent regarding desktop x64 programming applications and coding, so it shouldn't be too hard for me to wrap my head around this whole ARM v8, 64-Bit SoC/MoP revolution. If you (or anyone who knows) could fill me in on the challenges we are facing regarding kexec and hardboot in a 64-bit scenario, that'd be swell. In the mean time, I will do my best to get up to speed regarding the repos & commits you have referenced/linked up to this point.
THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR HARD WORK THUS FAR, AND LET'S GET 'ER DONE MY FRIENDS!!
:fingers-crossed:
*BEST . . CHRISTMAS . . PRESENT . . EVER!!!!!!
Thanks Mom!!
They have a Multirom version working for the Nexus 6P which is an arm64 device using the kexec method. Here is the link if it helps you devs.

Can someone try porting Kali Linux into Galaxy J5?

Hi guys, recently I was searching around to install Kali linux on my Galaxy J5 SM-J500F using Linux deploy, and unfortunately I couldn't due to shortage of storage, I used 16GB USB in OTG and tried to install in it but failed to do so. Then I searched around if Kali linux rom aka NetHunter for android could be ported to other devices as it is open source and found yes as it can be. Offensive Security has also given a guide on how to import it to new devices.
here is link: https://github.com/offensive-security/kali-nethunter/wiki#70-porting-nethunter-to-new-devices
I tried doing it myself and I couldn't understand somethings as It needs developing skills. I will be glad if any developer give it a try and port it to J5 SM-J500F or maybe to more variants. Thanks.
Has anyone tried it??
i am in need of Nenthunter for my Galaxy j5 2016 sm-j510GN if someone knows how to install please help!!!

I'm currently trying to port Android Open Pwn project but struggling too, If anyone could help of appreciate it.
Hello ,
I'm this thread for a while, I wanted to know if someone had managed to carry kali nethunter on samsnsung j5 2016 (sm-j510fn),
Especially the kernel adapted to samsung j5,
I have already installed the nethunter-generic-armhf-full + kernel-generic-armhf, everything seems to work except to switch to monitor mode with usb dongle Panda PAU05 & Tp-link Tl-wn722n, lsusb returns the name of the keys but that's all.
It is impossible later to mount the keys in monitor mode, it seems that the generic kernel is not optimized for everything to work
I tried to build the Kernel myself but I have not enough level for this type of manipulation for the moment on android
Would it be possible to build a nethunter for samsung j5 2016 (SM-j510fn)
Thanks in advance to all the developer
10000000% easy but it's 2 zip files that have to be flash simultaneously from the kali site and has to be done via twrp. I would make a back up and keep trying as it was a long time ago on the s7 I did it so without me trying over and over I shal leave it to you
I tried 1 zip over and over but yeah different ones so I flash one and hit loop loads of times and one day just tried another so an over lap when it was in a loop and bang it was done but changes wallpaper so you'll know when you have done it correct.
If you fail loads him me with a text as I'm busy so don't get on so often any more and I'll hunt it down foe you as it a hobby for me

IPhone which I don't know if this forum supports I can help a little. First advice about iphone!!!!! Sell it get an android lol
I would be very happy to have it ported to j5 prime also, SM-G570M

I know that a long time ago since you had posted in the group, but I was curious to enter the Nethunter message, and indicates that you know how to port the kernel to the Samsung J5 2016 device, your knowledge would be of great contribution.
Please help me with the download link of files that you flashed for j5..hav j500f

Thanks in advance. ..
For full monitor mode support you need a device with an very specific kernel installed in combination with a supported chipset ( very few devices have those) and firmware. Your device does not meet the requirements to use monitor mode

Nexus und kali nethunter

Hello, I bought the nexus 6p a few days ago.
Of course, just eoot rooted
I have not bought this device without reason or I have bought it to use nethunter ect.
I flashed the cortex on it and because kernel nethunter oreo as well kali nethunter arm64 ...
The only problem is that when I start the Kali Nethunter app, the app crashes in the process app build detected
Does anyone know why and how to fix it?
And my second question is how can I best use kali nethunter, which rom, which kernel?
Sorry for my english
I decided now for nethunter os basing on cyanogenmod
The best way to use this is to correct me if I'm wrong.
So far, everything is also nexmon ...
Currently SuperSU is installed, but would rather change to magisk someone has experience in terms of magisk and nethunter if there is a difference to SuperSU ?
best thing you have to do is install 7.1.2 and install kali according to the youtube video ah you can search like kali nethunter nexus 6p and also there is a video in which you can see kali running on android 8.0 coz fortunately kernel support on 8.0 but not in 8.1.0 just do safely keep backup there is a risk of bricking your device.nobody will pay you money when your device is bricked.
Hey sorry, I've just seen that you have answered.
Am I actually used to receive a message by email that someone has answered me.
So at first I had the superx 8.0.0 as well as cortex on it and kernel oreo from this link.
https://build.nethunter.com/nightly/2017.11-18-1618/
The problem was just as soon as I started the app nethunter there was always a crash in the process app build detected.
But I have yet seen the nexmon full support for oreo stock rome ...
So I'm going to flash the stock rome ore
Then then oreo kali nethunter kernel
And hope that the app works kali nethunter
So I flashed oreo as well as kernel successfully.
Then I started the nexus and installed kali nethunter and see no crash.
Then I downloaded kalifs-armhf-full.tar.xz and renamed it to kalifs-full.tar.xz and pushed it to path / sdcard. The kalifs were successfully unpacked by nethunter. Ok so far so good, I downloaded the nexmon app and installed the tools as well as the firmware. But now the problem is that I can not find it in kali or in android terminal monstart-nh.
So what do I have to do now ?
Nexmon patch?
Ah yet i now why, the nexmon Patch is lost
In nethunter os is the Patch for nexmon
And thats the problem, any now i can Download this Patch and Install per twrp
Or much i need doing the Guide manuel from nexmon.org?
hi mfjdj
hi mfjdj
i have the same prob, i've installed oreo 8.0 from google, and root it with supersu, after that i installed nethunter oreo from here http : // ........................./nightly/2017.11-18-1618/
when i run nethunter crash :S
what should i do and which firmware do u suggesto for me
thank u and sorry for my english
Because oreo stills auto scan if the build was tampered and gets replaced by the default. You may get the infinite boot loop when trying to change the build.

kali nethunter...

I think I may already know the answer but I want to run it by you guys just to be certain. I've done the "rooting" with the engineer's rom, but since the bootloader still hasn't been cracked I can't put any custom os on the phone, correct? Which means that nethunter is out of the question. Am I right to assume that?
Umm. Yes & no.... to run full nethunter kernel you would need a unlocked bootloader, yes! But locked down, unfortunately you can only do what your kernel supports/emulate.
(iirc linux deploy does kali in chroot)
It'll work but you'll be limited on what you can do, especially if your locked down

Galaxy S8 [SM-G950F] Kali Nethunter

Hello, does anyone have a compiled kernel for Galaxy S8 Exynos [SM-G950F] that supports HID and External network card? I need to equip this phone with Kali Nethunter.
Looking for some compilations I came across something like this:
https://gitlab.com/kalilinux/nethun...tree/171563c6970e65c4a1ff71eaeddb303cde5f0f89
This is the first time I'm dealing with kernel compilation, and creating installation zip package.
So my questions are:
1. has anyone already installed Nethunter on this device?
2. Is there any hardware limitation on this device that prevents it from using HID and External network card potential (e.g. Monitor Mode etc.)?
3. If the hardware on this phone can handle it, can the resources in the link I sent above handle it all?
4. if the link I sent doesn't help, is there anyone who has a kernel and TWRP installation package for this phone, so that everything I mentioned above works?
I apologize in advance if my questions are incorrect. My experience in modifying Android is limited, as so far it has been based on thin modification of roms prepared by other developers.
Thanks!
Have installed nethunter store on g950v flashed to g950u. Rooted with magisk system root..... bootloader 8 [ yes locked bootloader].. nougat .....
Installed privelege escalation extension in the store and converted to system app with an app from playstore..... I know that's probably not the right way to do that but it seems to have worked fine and I'm not sure where to find these ota zips.... new to kali and only a linux novice......
Would love to figure out the right way to get chroot installed.and the full kali kernel\rom overlay...
Can anyone tell me if this is even possible on thia device ? Or would it break my system ?
If its possible can anyone tell me which ota zip I need to flash in safestrap{twrp} . I see a precompiled kernel for the g950f and I, wondering if that would work? And if not whay would be the proper procedure for installing kali on my device ? Any pointers or advice would be greatly appreciated.
I've opened the nethunter manager app and tried installing with the default settings but I get an error.
I'm thinking I may need to change the install directory but again I really don't know where I should change it to.
I love tinkering with my samsung devices and would really like to play around with kali if I could get it properly installed.
I understand that functionality may be limited on my device since there doesn't seem to be anything posted online that I can find about kali and the g950u.
I guess the locled bootloader tends to make people shy away from the snapdragon devices.
This is my 2nd s8 and its still a great device after all these years. I would
love to see some renewed interest in this device and hopefully with kali or any custom roms other tha. The basic nougat with gapps...
