S4 Battery Issues - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I purchased a extra battery just to make sure its not the battery. Battery is going down really quick. I have tried charging my phone to 100% then use a battery calibarate app to fix the issue and still not working. I was told is could be the 4.4.4 or 4.4.x roms causing this issues? I will be dowloading a 4.2.2 rom and checking it out but I got to wait for tommorow and Internet here isnt great? Any help or ideas? Current rom is "Samy Deluxe S5 Style Pick Your King" but I have tried PA 4.4.4 rom and still the same issue.

Hi mate ,
The only way to really know what is going on is to use an app like BBS
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
Let it run for a few hours and check the logs to see who is the culprit

Thank you for your reply. Just found out it was a kernel issue that perviously installed that was messing up the battery. I always thought when changing roms it also changes the kernel, guess I was wrong.. Thanks anyway Rep+

CM11 - Remove NFC completely

Hey everyone.
Just wondering if there is anyway I can completely remove NFC from CM11?
I have the 10th October nightly and noticed com.android.NFC is killing my battery.
Just want to know how I can completely remove the process from my phone since NFC doesn't work anyways and I never use it.
Thanks in advance.

Do u have a G900I? Try flashing a different kernel because stock CM kernel has a problem with G900I NFC and causes battery drain. It happened to me too but stopped after I flashed KT kernel.
Yeah G900I. Thanks for the tip!
I tried some searching but couldnt find the KT kernel thread....
Happen to have a link handy?

Hey,
Can this be used for other extended batteies? I have a ZeroLemon and a 6440 Anker battery. The Anker battery is the one I'm currently using.

Not sure, so TheLoneWolf20 will have to confirm, but I don't see why it wouldn't work as long as you enter the correct battery capacity for your battery in the fuel guage app. On the other hand, if the Anker is a single cell battery (unlike the Note 4 ZeroLemon which is a triple cell battery) than the battery level will probably be accurate without needing the modified kernel and fuel guage app in the first place.
Works on n910c

Won't save WiFi passwords
Trying this mod, I found that my phone (Note 4 T-Mobile) won't save WiFi passwords across reboots. Didn't see anything else that didn't work. The BioShock forms suggested that I disable External SD card security, which I did (with a mod for doing that from the main BioShock thread) but that didn't help. I've tried blanking the Davlik cache, rebooting, factory reset, etc. The actual battery mod seems to be working well. Anyone have any ideas?

I used a 4750mah in my note 2 and it worked great.
I said that because you asked about the Anker battery.
If it's not bigger than the 4750mah I would say it's reading right.
Hope this help

Slow phone, poor battery life lately

Hello,
I have a G2 D802 International version (more info in the end of the post)
Rom is CloudyG2 v3.3 Android 5.0.2, but the problem is not related to this rom only, as it was also present with the Stock ROM.
I face a lot of slowdowns and a poor battery life even with the phone left on standby.
I don't recall that the same happened on Kitkat.
Things I tried:
- Clearing/wiping the cache partition, only closing all running apps makes it faster again but for a short while.
- Use Watchdog task manager to check if an app consumes CPU but it doesn't show something specific.
PS: I always do a full wipe when installing a new rom
Question is, how can I effectively check which app/process consumes cpu/battery.
Phone: LG G2 D802 (International) 16Gb version.
Rom: CloudyG2 v3.3
Android 5.0.2
Kernel: 3.4.0
Build number: SRKDeBloatG2-2-00.TomYum-Kung
Root: rooted.
Recovery: TWRP
Apps that may be left open in the background(if it matters):
Google maps, Outlook, Messenger, Whatsapp, Facebook, Chrome.
but these have been always the same, even when the performance was OK on kitkat
Just uninstall all apps you don't need. Like Facebook etc. Just go to the mobile page of the ones you need.
Also you can do a full wipe, internal sd card included. Then transfer install files to phone in TWRP. Than flash again. Don't use backup for the apps and install just the ones u need.
good luck!

Thanks @PhoenixNLx, I already wiped everything before, it comes back again.
as of the Apps I need them all, I did for sometime use facebook's website instead of the app, but the other apps I do need them.
I just wish if someone could guide me how to hunt down this problem by knowing the cause.
I also read that some performance problems were fixed in 5.1.1, so I would appreciate if anyone recommends a rom.

sorry when I meant I'll be waiting for a stable rom, I meant without the early bugs in CM which are still not totally fixed,
but I think I'll lose my temper with my phone and install your rom after a week from now
Update for anyone viewing this thread in the feature,
I've installed Bliss Rom 6.0 (android 6.0 Marshmallow) and it has been a week since then,
the rom speed, battery usage and features are amazing and I don't face any slowness anymore.
Great to know! For future reference also there is an app called wakelock detector tells you what's eating your battery life

Question, if you are not rooted what is a good app that detects what's eating your battery life? I'm losing 15% on avg during the night and as far as I know nothing is running (bluetooth/location is off) and the phone is left in the same spot.
I had the same problems with the stock rom, but with CyanogenMod 12.1 I neither had battery problems nor slowdowns, the same with CM 13 nightlys now. On average, my g2 reaches up to 2 days battery running time.?

galaxy s4 charging problems after flashing new rom

Hello , I wanted to install OzcanRom v6.3 Aroma So i did.. first i change the recovery to TWRP , all fine , flashed with odin , then tried to install the rom and worked but the phone was not starting , was staking at boot so i read on the forum that the recovery is the problem , so i change it again and used CWM and worked fine , phone opened , the rom is fine all working , but i noticed that the phone is not charging fast or not charging at all same times..
My first thought was that the cable or the micro USB port is damaged .. nop.. i changed cable and charger , also changed battery with one 100% new and nothing.. the problem remain.. So i was sure that the problem is software related and make again install on the rom , I follow the process with cleaning Dalvik cache etc and many times , Also removed the battery for 10 mins and also i tried to calibrate the battery , nothing worked.. I have install on my phone one app to check the battery stats and i saw that same times , even if charger is connected the phone does not receive the proper power or receive like 50 Ma per 1 hour... sometimes if i disconnect and reconnect the cable make the problem fixed , from 50 Ma goes over 500 so the phone charges..
Also i noticed that the CPU of the phone (under the camera ) gets too hot even if i dont use the phone at all , it happens only when charging and receiving low amount of Ma.. the max Ma i have seen is like 500 Ma per hour.. still very very low and phone takes forever to charge..
Can you help me fix this problem? My guess is that the problem is the kernel.. but not sure what kernel to use with this Rom and how to install it..
Any TouchWiz kitkat custom kernel should work.
The only other option may be to change to another ROM.

Read my post again because you did not read it correctly the first time.
I said any TOUCHWIZ KITKAT custom kernel.
What you linked is for AOSP AND CM.

AOSP is what you find on Nexus devices.
All you need to know about it now is that you can't use that kernel on your Ozcan ROM.
Look for kernels that are labeled TW or TouchWiz.
...or you could get it to work by grabbing any TW-LL kernel and replacing the ramdisk with the KK one. But, there's no guarantee that it would work, plus you need some knowledge on doing this.

Normal working phone but kernel is not seandroid enforcing note 4

I just installed omega 6.1 phone looks Normal no boot loop
Should I worry about it?
Note 4
N910F
6.0.1
Phone suddenly switched off 35% battery, then power back n again and find 15 % battery
Its not seandroid enforcing cuz root n stuffs, so dont worry bout it. as for the battery life try other roms or a kernel might get the job done, so just take some time and play w/ it

The random reboots are usually a rom based problem, might also happen after too much modding

I think you are right. Too much mod was done.
I was looking around too many users have same problem (sudden shut down) some says deep sleep mode, some says it's rom causing it. Some says black screen.
What should I try to get rid of it first. Changing rom, no mods. Same rom only formate it again or what?

Id go with a new ROM smth stable, and try to not over do it with costumisation... Resurrection remix was really good for me, it has a lot of features and i haven experienced much crashing... Altho ive been on an old version of RR for quite some time so i dont know how the new onse runs... But here comes the testing phase just download the roms that you think will be good and flash em until you get smth thats gonna stable and good for you oh and another thing xposed also might cause crashing so be careful w/ that if youll be on xposed supported roms...
EDIT: i found an interesting feature in HEBF (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androidvip.hebf) to prevent random rebooting dont know about the stability tho... Its under tools and kernel panic, this disables should disable the systems ability to crash and reboot when detecting a fatal SW error
