With the information given is hard to tell , if you are stock , nonroot , did not install any aplications or modifications at the moment when the problem showed up , it has to be rom related....

Hi mate
After you did a factory reset BEFORE you re installed any backup or re installed your Google account , did you tested to see if it was working right?
Do a factory reset and try it without restoring anything or configuring your google account
as @AbdoAdel said . it may be an app causing you the trouble
Hi!
Sorry, for resurrecting an old thread, but I have a very similar problem. Only, that not even the softkeys light up for me. It happens randomly. The phone simply won't wake up, it does not react to any of the keys. I have to take out the battery, or press the power button for longer than 10 sec. to force a reboot. In the battery stats I see, that the phone was "running" the whole time it just wouldn't wake up.
Every time I have this the battery seems to be warmer, so I'm guessing it's some kind of endless loop or software lockup.
Phone: Galaxy S4 GT-I9515, Black Edition
Stock ROM (4.4.2, Build: KOT49H.I915XXU1ANK2)
No root, no apps installed.
I also tried a factory reset, wiping cache, etc. I did not install any apps after the factory reset (I added my Google Account, but disabled the "Backup & Restore" option).
The issue happens very irregular. Sometimes 2-3 times a days, sometimes 1-2 days without problems.
Seems to have been a problem with 4.4.2
A few days ago I updated to Lollipop (5.0.1, LRX22C.I9515XXU1BOC3), no wake-up problems since then.
I think I spoke too soon. After the upgrade to Lollipop I immediately installed all my apps, did my settings, etc. No problems for almost 2 weeks!
Then last week it happened again (I think on Wednesday). Then nothing again until Saturday evening and once more on Sunday evening. Same problem. Phone simply won't wake up. After removing the battery or long-pressing the power button for a restart I see that the phone was running the whole time except that it wouldn't wake up.
At first I suspected the account sync, so I had it disabled for the last few days, but it happened even with disabled sync. I had not installed any new apps since the upgrade, so I'm fairly sure that it's not caused by any of my apps.
Battery usage seems a bit weird too (in 4.4.2 I had no "gap" between the "freeze" and the restart). See Attachment or here: http://imgur.com/cLb4sqp
Hi I'm experiencing a similar issue. My s4 has died. The screen started turning purple and now it won't do anything. No vibration no light up nothing. It is not rooted. Has no modded apps and had never been flashed on Odin. It is less than a year old.

What exactly do you mean by "the screen started turning purple"? Did it just freeze up, display a purple image and then die?
Yes the screen slowly turned purple then died. It froze.
anyone found solution for this problem? this issue recently happened to my Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 running without any problems on Android 4.4.2 CM 11.0-InstallerXNPQ09O for over 4 months since I replaced broken screen

Hi all
I just bought a new galaxy s4 since the first start the screen freeze and the device reboot it self, I didn't install any app on it, I didn't even finish configuring the device, I was able to finish first startup configuration after 15 time of freezing and rebooting on me at different steps or times, I did hard reset and I downloaded the latest software update, nothing seems to fix it
I'm sure it's a software issue since I tested it's hardware
can anyone help me with a possible solution to that problem ?!?!?!

No, takes about 1,5 hrs to download unless you get a premium hotfile acccount.
Get it exchanged.. I cant remember a time where I purchased and started rebooting on its own that quickly.

did you try to wipe data and cache??
I'm pretty sure you both have a hardware issue. Freezing and rebootung sounds like probs with the CPU. As the problem where since first start, there sholdn't be a hindering getting it exchanged...
I agree. If it's happening straight out of the box send it back for replacement. Seems like hardware fault to me.

I bought it from a store 2 months ago and I don't think they offer warranty like Samsung stores. I will try to tell the seller that the phone has manufacturing defect and maybe he would replace it .

Same thing. This is a replacement for the first phone that suddenly died (didn't power on anymore). First one before it died, worked flawlessly. I didn't reboot it for weeks. This new one reboots 10 times a day on it own.

If u need any firmware pls:
1. Tell me model of phone (i9500, i9505)
2. If is branded or no to one phone company
3. Android 4.2.2 or 4.3
4. Where are u from?
If you get random reboots the phone freezes up without no reason and while booting the phone it hangs on the samsung logo get your Battery exchanged asap.
Samsung acknowledged to have shipped a bad series of batteries serial starting with BD
you can exchange them under waranty
other symptoms you can encounter is that the phone is rebooting during incomming calls/sms and a huge battery drain before reboot you are at 80% after you only have 20% or less left
you can also check if the battery is swells up.
replace this battery asap because it can explode and for your sake I hope this does not happen to you and especially when the phone is in one pf the pockets of your pants (have to be carefull for your childsupport )
goodluck

I believe you installed an application that monitors your data usage. Have you installed something like a battery saver?
I know one case where JuiceDefender turns off your mobile data when you power off your device screen, and refreshes every XXX interval to check for new notifications.
If you don't know, I suggest doing a full factory reset in the Settings application (THIS WILL CAUSE YOU TO LOSE ALL DATA)

I think you might as well do a reflash of stock ROM. If this fails, then something is wrong with your phone.
Hi,
I've had som rough weeks with my GS4 I9505. Hopefully some of you can help me.
I'm running CM11 nightlies, which was doing pretty great, until 3 weeks ago, where the media sound disappeared.
Well actually, I found out that the media sound WAS playing, but it was SUPER low. I had to put the volume at max and lay my ear directly on the speaker to hear it just a bit.
I read that a couple of others had the same problem, or at least I thought so, but now I tend more to think that my problem is/was hardware related.
Anyway, I tried flashing a lot of different firmwares, to match the bootloader and so on.
I am currently on:
Bootloader: I9505XXUFNB9
Baseband: I9505XXUFNB9
PDA/CSC: BLANK
The latest stock Samsung firmware I flashed, was: I9505XXUFNB9_I9505NEEFNB2_NEE
I am from Denmark and my phone is unbranded.
When I did that, the phone got VERY slow and wifi didn't work. Then I flashed CM11 again and wifi worked.
But now I am totally unable to make calls, it just freezes up and finally makes the call, but the call-speaker, media-speaker and microphone doesn't work.
When I try playing video (and some games) the specific app freezes and crashes too.
If I at least could get back to where my call-speaker/microphone worked and I had super-low audio I'd be ever so happy, 'cause then I can go and get a new media-speaker.
I hope someone can help me, otherwise I'll have to trash this phone, which I've been pretty happy to use for a while now.
Any pointers will do!
Thank you in advance.

Hi mate , hi DeepankarS
Seem like two different problems here.....
the low volume may be a hardware problem , the speaker gone bad , if you can hear fine with your earphones i would say is a speaker problem...really easy to replace btw.
the other problems showed up after flashing so i asume they come from bad flashing........backup , also efs folder , do a factory reset and flash stock again.......what recovery you have ? the important thing is to leave the phone clean before you flash with Odin

Yea, they started when flashing new bootloader and modem.
I'll try that in the morning (again) - It's quite late here.
I'm on Philz at the moment.
So, the phone should be totally clean before flashing with Odin? I don't think I did that last time actually

Dowbload any october/september build without carrier locking.
AFAIK, there was this UK one of October. You can try that
Also there is an Ireland one without carrier locking
AND IF YOU ARE ROOTED AS OF NOW, BACKUP EFS BEFORE FLASHING.
Use a good rated efs backup app from the playstore.

Hi ,
you have two options , factory reset and clean to install a new rom , try them both
Also would not hurt to mounts and storage menu/ format data and /datamedia ( /sdcard) that is your internal SDcard so is really clean....but after that you need to have a custom rom in the externalSD or go to download mode and flash with odin ....
Same rom as before should be fine....or download it again just to make sure is ok
BAckup first!! efs folder also.

Then your hardware is dead. You already had low sound.
Get a speaker replacement and google this
Galaxy s4 teardown ifixit.com amd follow the steps to fix your speaker. Hardly takes 10 minutes.
Edit : Wait sound as in no audio in all the speakers?

Ok try flashing a stock rom with a pit file included. Hit Sapphire999 up and he'll link you the firmware. If you flash stock rom and stay on it does the touchscreen stay working

I'd take your device to a Samsung Service Center and ask them to take a look it! It maybe a hardware problem that can be easily fixed.

You could contact Samsung directly and ask them if they have a Service Center near you. Or ask them to send you a free post baggy to send your device to them for repairs.
Hi guys, I have a rooted samsung galaxy j5 model (J500h) and last night I was playing game using Xmod. Suddenly its screen got Black. I removed the battery, inserted it again, charged it, tried to do it in recovery, safe mode, and download mode, but no mode appears. Please suggest me any help.

Battery dead? Did you try flashing a stock rom on it? Did you try to do a full wipe?

Was phone first hand or second hand? Some guys sell u phone's with a phones outside hardware but the inside is completely fake
It was internal problem with my motherboard. Got a new motherboard for my phone in warranty.

This is scary... Is it possible that rooting might have had an impact on the motherboard? I'm asking this because I casually test different roms and kernels and tweaks once a few days and I don't want my device to have your fate...

Extremely unlikely rooting or any kind of software modification could cause hardware to fail.
It's purely a coincidence.

Alright! So far I have been flashing things in a day more than any normal human would need : ))))
But that problem was at the time when i had stock rom not rooted. I am currently running a rooted j5 5.1.1 not upgraded to 6.0.1 and it is working perfectly fine. I also have changed the stock boot animation but nothing lags. No errors. All Ok !
