Guys, it appears, that in all 2.3.2 (Gingerbread) ROMs I've tried so far the option in the subject (Lock phone after) is missing. As a result, if you set a PIN or lock pattern, it is requested every time you lock your phone. The setting is available in HTC Sense ROMs.
This seems like a pretty basic security feature. Moreover, it is apparently present in Android since 2.2 (Froyo). Any idea why it's not in many ROMs? Is there a 2.3.2 ROM which has it?

bump - I'm interested as well, as this is one of the few things which hold me back from using gingerbread

very odd indeed. I do know its been included in every CM7 rom i've used in the past month. theres probably an app for it too. any reason you havent tried a cm7 rom?
CM7 or MccM HD v4.5.... these two ROM both have the patterns lock you want..
Give it a try.... You will fall in love with it...

To be honest I've just flashed my son's wildfire with a CM7 rom and it has it also, you're right...
It was a built-in feature in Windows (up until 6.5 - I don't know about 7) then HTC trasferred it to Android if Sense installed...

it's not the pattern lock we're after but the ability to delay the lock (3-5-10-15 minutes) after you switched off your phone - so when you switch it back on (within the set time) you do not have to unlock it
you can have a strong password but you don't have to apply it every time just when you leave it alone for a longer period of time
Wierd... The imilka Gingerbread with sense (in my signature) has got the option to set lock time to immediately, 3 min, 5 min or 10 min (Exchange ActiveSync-policy)
And yes, i use it as a daily build, and with Exchange at my work...

no it's not wierd - it's a htc sense rom so it has it (whether it's eclair, froyo or gb)
the only - big - problem with imilka's gb rom that it's quite experimental yet
I found it on CM7(7.0.2.1)!
Under Settingns>CyanogenMod>Lockscreen>Display-Timeout and Lock
I should really make use of my eyes

That's not good enough. The option sets the timeout for lockscreen - the slider (or other obstacle) you need to move before you can access the main screen. It doesn't control the security lock separately from the lockscreen. Sense builds have this option, apparently they were modified from the original Android sources to support this.
In both the shiftpda boyppc rom and hyperdroid CM7 I have seen the option to pick how long it takes before the pin lock is activated. Its in the CM options on the settings screen.
settings>cyanogenmod settings>lockscreen>delay and timeout

Ironically, DramatikBeats is correct. Was wrong at the time but is correct now, provided a CM 7.1 build from 27 July 2011 or later is used. You can trust me about this because I know where I put the controls for the new feature (haha).
Details from another thread.

Hey guys,
I very recently (with the help of a few well-informed xda members) flashed the paranoidandroid ROM to my Nexus 7. It came with the 'stock' Browser, as opposed to the Chrome that the Nexus 7 came with from the factory. I installed the chrome from the market, but it has a completely different UI. This isn't gamebreaking, but damnit did I LOVE the UI from the Nexus 7 rom.
I've done tons of searching, but can't find any info on it anywhere. (All I can find is the market version.)
The UI that I'm interested in is the Desktop-style one that the stock Nexus 7 rom had. With actual tabs, each with close buttons (almost like the standard android browser from 4.0 and before.) Does anyone know where to find/how to install this?
As I said. Not really a gamebreaker, but if it's possible, I'd much appreciate it.
---
Mods, if this is in the wrong place, I very much apologize. Move it if you have to.
You must have chrome in phone UI.
Go to the paranoid settings and change it to a tablet UI.
Hope that helps
what UI are you using with Paranoid? Phone/Phablet/Tablet?

I had the same problem too, I fixed it by going into Settings > Paranoid Android Settings, then Apps.
Select Chrome from the list. Swipe to the left until you see Layout/UI options, change 360px to 720px (or 600px will do). Click Apply at the top and click OK when asked to force close. That's all you should need to do.

Thanks, you guys. Much much better now. I love fancy swipey UIs as much as the next guy, but I really prefer a seamless ui between my tablet and desktop. I have that now. Again, thanks so much.
I am trying to find a way to change names for several android running devices (all kitkat 4.4.2). They all appear as android-{some value} within my router.
In the past this was under device info or developer options. Amy idea where this has been moved to?

You can do it in TricksterMOD, but I don't know if there's a non-root way of doing it available still.
Why not just assign the ip to the device through the router and then you know for sure what it is?
First of all, need to thank the Chinese Huawei forum where I found this neat trick. Also if this has been posted here then sorry I did searched but nothing came up with this topic.
Anyhow the trick is to force the split screen functions where any incompatible app may prevent the split screen to open as it should.
First of all, need to go to setting-about phone. then touch the build number with your knuckle multiple times in a quick succession. This will activate the developer option.
Go back to the setting first page, and the developer option new tag should show up. Go into this tag and scroll down to the very bottom and enable the " Force activities to be resizable" then reboot phone. The Force split screen is good to go after reboot.

Thanks I'll rebrand my Mate to Chinese then because they get all the updates and the good stuff. :good:
I am enjoying the Chinese versions quite a !ot and no urgency in changing to international version just yet. One major issue is the notifications and that can be quite annoying for some. But somehow I can live with it.

You don't get notifications at all?
Notification depends on how often one uses the certain app. The Chinese version is very aggressive in shutting down the app in the background. One app I get quite regular notification is the email app despite I use the same frequency with the others. One advantage I find for its behaviour is my battery is really efficient. I have times that the phone lasts me 3 full days with about 5 hours SOT between charges.

no need to use your knuckle on the build number. just regular touch with fingers will work.
So I've noticed that my A20e has display input lag? The touches are are registered fine but the display seems like it doesn't keep up.
I went in a retail store to see if other a20e's are doing it and yes they do...the other models (a10 a30 etc.) DON'T have this issue....
How is the response on the regular A20 and is it a hardware or a software?

A20 response is very good.
I have no problems with it.
I am having the same problem, it's probably a GPU driver problem, if you change the video render to vulkan it stops hanging.

yes you can find this option under hardware acceleration on developer settings. Depending on the GSI you are using this option is not available, for example Lineage 17.
@demonic8383 I just remebered, you can turn off all of the system animations.

Yes
Accessibility, visibility enhancements, remove animations.
Makes it much faster.
So i searched in developer options to change the renderer but on Stock ROM there is no such option (
Tried to disable the animations and etc - no change at all (
Maybe when Samsung release a update for android 10 the issue will be resolved....

Hmm i got an email from the Big Sammy....its pretty much what i expected it to be:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for contacting the Samsung Members team, it is a pleasure to attend you Mr. Krastev.
We need a detailed explanation of the situation.
If the delay comes when you are turning on the phone, or going back from stand by it is normal, since the display uses a new technology that consumes a lot of resources, so, the display can take until two seconds to respond during this 2 scenarios.
We recommend to close all the apps, and see if the phone is still slow, in such case, the phone has a system error, and you could perform a Factory reset, otherwise, the reason of slow speed comes from your apps usage.
Another thing to consider is your storage available space, since the phone needs some available storage space as virtual memory, the less available storage space, the less speed, please check you storage available space, if you have little space, please move your files to the SD card or to your cloud to free up space.
You need to be sure your phone has the latest updates, cause this situation could come by a lack of updates.
If the speed of the phone is slow in general, during all the operations with it, the phone could be facing a system error, which should be solved by performing a factory reset as follows:
Go to: Menu > Settings > Accounts & Back up > Samsung cloud > Back up this phone > Back up.
Next step is to remove your accounts, firstly the Samsung account and secondly the Google's account.
Then you can perform the Factory reset by going to:
Menu > Settings > General management > Factory reset.
After this, you can set your Google's account, then your Samsung account, and then you can go to menu > settings > accounts > Samsung account > restore data, to retrieve your backed up data.
