So I found it really annoying when watching Netflix and accidentally hitting back or recent apps softkeys. Which pauses or exits out of movie everytime I do. Because of placement of soft keys (Navigation buttons) on Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4. (Which is where I hold the tab in landscape)
So I found a way to disable back/ recent apps and Home buttons. Temporarily
Settings /Device /Accessibility
Scroll to very bottom
Enable interaction control
Use volume down and home at same time to enable
Uncheck all checkboxes
Now soft keys (Navigation buttons) and home are disabled.
Usefully when watching a movie and holding with your hand on softkeys.
(Have to disable multi window to enable this feature)
If helped, thanks would be appreciated.

I tried to do this on the demo units in Best Buy but I couldn't get it to work. Could it be the demo software they had on it?

Possibly idk? Works on mine. Sometimes tablets/ TV have a retail firmware on them which isn't the same as what you take home. So could be possible
This worked for me.

Home key had to be disabled in both of the below locations. This completely disables the hardware keys so make sure to enable the on screen keys first.
Note: The onscreen keys don't show up in landscape mode for some reason so I use LMT launcher for the few times I need navigation keys in landscape.

Does anyone know how to disable the back light on the capacitive keys? I've been able to disable the buttons from functioning and I've got LMT launcher installed but I'd really like to stop them from lighting up if possible.
The only thing that stops me from buying the tab pro 8.4 at the moment are the hardware keys. I am used to on screen buttons and as I can see in some review-videos and as some of you already mentioned, if you hold the tablet in landscape you could accidentally come in touch with the capacitive keys or the home button. Therefore I am very interested in how you can handle the tab pro 8.4 with hardware-keys disabled and on screen keys enabled. Can anyone share some screenshots how it looks like?

So at the moment there is no way to have googles on screen buttons in landscape mode?
I use xposed additions to remap buttons from single click to long press on my son's 8.4 since he kept accidentally hitting buttons and getting frustrated. Not exactly what you are looking for but it has helped us here. Take a look at button Savior on the play store as well. You could use xposed additions to disable buttons and then use button Savior buttons.

Hello,
My team lead has a OnePlus two and had a question so I told him I'd find out. He's severely vision impaired and currently using a OnePlus 2 with the latest Oxygen. Something that annoys him is how the fingerprint reader works as a home button because he accidentally bumps into it all the time while using the device. He's currently got the whole thing disabled, however he'd like to use the fingerprint unlock functionality while not enabling the home button. Is there a way to do so?
Thanks
Of Course there is. Go into the button settings where on-screen nav bar is enabled. There will be an option to enable physical home button with on-screen nav bar. Disable it.
Thanks for all your help over the years folks. I have a predicament of my own to solve now.
My S7 Edge SM-G395F has had some minor water damage, the only thing that seems affected is the capacitive 'back' and 'recent apps' buttons. Not working at all, and I've gone through all the possible standard fixes (hard reset, safe mode, factory reset).
I was wondering if anyone has managed to fine a way through roms, hacks etc to move these buttons above the originals and home button. I'm using an app to have floating buttons at the moment but no matter where I put them they get in the way, and repair is beyond my price range now.
So looking for a way to keep my phone more functional by adding a bar above a the home button permanently to use these close to the originals in a dedicated space and losing a little space from the screen itself.
Happy with room/flashing etc, any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
my buttons work fine but I always use an app called GMD Gesture Control to use gestures instead of tapping back and recent keys. the app doesn't have a navigation bar so it will not take the bottom part of the screen.
just download the pro version, not the lite one, and you'll find it the best app for replacing your broken keys' behavior.
Enabled immersive to hide the navbar. I also have an app that does this, but getting the soft keys to not display when you swipe up is what I am trying to accomplish.
I have an app called OnePlus gestures to enable gesture Nav, have the Navbar hidden, but when swiping, the soft keys keep appearing. Also tried the hw key build prop file set to 1, doesn't work at all to disable them.
The Oneplus app from the store has a navbar hid feature that disables it, but it seems to have broke something with my AOD substrate I like to run and the percentage disappears on the AOD screen now at the bottom, something with the overlay I guess on the latest build.
Anyway, if someone know how to disable the softkeys so I can just use Gestures...would be great...the navbar hide function, no problem..but the soft keys annoying reappearing is the issue now.
Thanks
If your using an essential phone try adb shell wm overscan 0,-143,0,0. What are you using for navigation?
I am just wondering if there is any sort of modification or functionality that allows the physical nav buttons to pop up when the keyboard is open, but the rest of the time navigation is done via gestures?
I find myself making typing mistakes due to the placement of the keyboard without the nav buttons, and turning the keyboard off is sometimes a pain with the gesture.
Funny, the Zenfone 5Z has navigation gestures almost identical to the 6T but the navigation buttons stay on when a keyboard is active. I hated that because I got used to swiping instead of tapping the button, so I would swiping away with no results. I'm very happy the 6T remedied that.
