Both are biased garbage in my mind.. Love how one praises the battery life, the other trashes it. I've been frequenting both sites for years and their Apple bias is overwhelming.

i noticed this yesterday when i read engadgets review followed by another one on a nother site, and there are so many inconsistencies across the board, now i know our own opinions are subjective based on our view point, but when tech news companies get the basics wrong there is definitely something up. I did see a few people make this point on the engadget blog.
Lets not kid ourselves this device is not perfect but then rarely ever is a device perfect, but to diss the screen for having a tft panel andbad battery life and multitasking is laggy is just a blatant POS by engadget

I have read the Engadget review last night and I hate it when reviewers don't be fair BC its not an apple device . I have read many articles and watched many YouTube reviews about it and I could tell that 80% of them like the tablet. So its pretty trashy when a reviewer tries to go low about it.

Really didn't understand engadget review; the battery life seemed like it was near the top of all tablets; but they call it pathetic ? They said they had no need for the pen but then why would they buy the device ? The other comments were valid I guess to a degree cept what they fail to mention is that if you want a screen larger than a 10 inch tablet why would you buy a 10 inch tablet ? The real competitor I think are the 13 inch ultra books and then it comes down to usage/need/weight/battery lfe/price. The better 13inch ultra books are around 1300 to 1700; they are slightly heavier and have similar battery life (8 to 11 hours) and much faster (the yoga 2 is less expensive but has significantly shorter battery life).

I mention windows ultra book and not the mac airbook/mac pro mostly because they have touch screens (if you want a touch device).

I'm giving this tablet a try because for my specific application/usage it is fast enough (but just barely); 1lb lighter (20 to 30% which sounds more impressive) has the magical 9+ hours of battery life and is $500-$700 less expensive. My second choice was between the macpro 13inch (kind of heavy); samsung ultra boox and asus 301 (they have like a dozen different ultra book I can't keep the models straight).

I'm torn between this and...well...I guess the opposite end of the spectrum, a Tegra Note 7. I do want a huge screen, but I don't care about resolution, I don't care about weight at all, and I love drawing. I don't need the multi-window stuff, don't need to multitask, necessarily. I've used Android in an office situation for about three years now so I know everything I want to do can be done with Android, but now I want to add in handwriting and drawing.
But all these reviews from all the "main" sites are putting me off of the Pro from lag and stutter. Watching videos I see the lag.
The reason this bothers me is because I got the Acer A700 after pre-ordering and it is nothing but lag..constantly..And I hate it for it. Wish I had waited for reviews on it, and all the reviews tell about how laggy the A700 was. Now I'm seeing a LOT of reviews talking about lag on the Note 12.2, and I'm concerned.
On the A700, lag is just inherent as it is an underpowered system. Even switching launchers, there is still lag.
I've not heard of anyone switching to NOVA or Apex launchers on the 12.2. Would that be the solution to the lag people are experiencing...Is the lag just with TouchWiz, or is it a system flaw?

I am using nova launcher, and the only place lag bothers me is with Chrome. Seems pretty jerky there at times. Any lag i see seems app specific and not system. I would be willing to take some video footage for you if you tell me what you would like to see.

Yeah...I could go to the store and try one out, but I don't have cash at the ready. If I go in without having money I may do something stupid like put it on a credit card and accrue interest and have impulse buyer's remorse, etc. (It's all in my head). I'm buying a tablet with our tax return so I won't have fundage for another couple weeks.
A few things I'm wanting to see more of are reading apps like Mantano Reader, Comic Rack, ezPDF. I would also really like to see what the bundled office suite looks like. It's always talked about but never really seen. For me, this is basically a text consumption, document creation, and note taking app for work. Art programs, gaming, and streaming videos at home.

it's in Russian but supposedly gives you a good look at it at least
note taking capabilities seem wonderful. handwriting apps like papyrus or lecture notes. Apps like Ever note for typing. Replacement Keyboards like my script stylus beta that instantaneously convert handwriting to typed text . I absolutely adore this keyboard.
I don't use the other apps you mentioned, but could install them and look. probably not until later tonight after kid goes to bed. There is another thread here somewhere about comics on the note pro, Everyone seems to think they look great.
I don't do any heavy gaming - just stuff like mahjong, sudoku, word games. etc I haven't had any trouble with that. My husband however, who just got a note pro too, plays a lot more games. He has been very impressed so far. Games and emulators that our Nexus 10s had trouble with work much better on this tablet.

I've yet to use any tablet that is 100% lag free. If you're sensitive to this or are simply looking for it, you'll see it somewhere. I just need it to be minor enough so it doesn't impact my usage of the device. Some of the first 1080p tablets were horrible about that.
But I'm finding this latest tablet from Samsung to be pretty darn good. Touch wiz has always had a history of lag. Not here, not with the magazine ux launcher. You can switch it if you want for personal preference, but it won't be due to lag.
Any lag you might see are maybe with the pull down menu or perhaps in certain apps. None of which are effected by the launcher. Sure, I wish everything was 100% smooth everywhere. But I've yet to find such a tablet. For now, this works just fine for my needs and wants. Even without root or modification.

So far, I've noticed most users aren't complaining of it, but most of the review sites do. This gives me hope that reviewers are being dramatic.

Your review is one of the best I have seen for a device and will definitely be watching for new ones on other products. Im thinking about starting a review site geared towards the more technologically inclined. Unlike most reviewers I won't suck every apple device's collective nads.

Here's a review of sorts that I did for the site animationinsider.com. It's geared specifically to animation artists, with a focus on apps that are good for professional quality artwork on the Note 12.2. The site shrank my images a little too much, and also messed up the formatting some. (I'm kind of a stickler about those things).

Everyone says the jump from 1080 to 1440p isn't noticeable. I say that's dumb and it depends on the person.

when i had the 855 the screen is absolutely gorgeous. i think the reviewers are on drugs. yeah it may not be out of this world because displays today are so nice. but the difference is immediate i don't care what anyone says lol. i learned reviews are subjective. only way is to try it yourself.

One thing for sure the g3 is definitely the flawed beauty every one in love with, the device has glaring weaknesses yet many reviewers still ultimately like it despite fully acknowledging it's ugly side

Anandtech says it is noticeable to a fault.

Like other reviews and users noted, Anandtech says the G3 would have been the closest to perfect device yet with a good 1080p display. The Qhd hurts overall performance rather than helps.

Also came to same conclusion as most. The top Android phones are so close that they are basically even. Each has good points and bad. Just depends on how you as an individual rate the pros and cons.
I've had the m8.
I liked the build quality, speakers were great and screen was good. Camera sucked for anything but Internet posting. Then I realized (unlike most kids) that not everyone wants to listen to my music . So I use headphones in public and Bluetooth in car. So those boomsound bezels were pointless. And I really missed qi charging.
I had the S5
Screen was lovely. Camera was good and water resistance was nice. But I hated how it felt in my hand. And it only came with 16gb at AT&T.
LG G3
I don't have my us model. But my friend has the Korean version. My total time with it is a few hours at work. So not a great review. But I Love the way it feels in hand. Feels premium. Love the screen size. Screen to me is as good as the S5 or the M8. Was plenty bright for me indoors and out. (does have more glare than the S5, but not horrible if you're looking straight on).
I like a bright screen and 70 to 75% was perfect for me. And I never saw it dim. Maybe it does at 90 to 100%,but that's too bright for me anyway.
Halo is there. But didn't bother me really. He says with Nova it's a non issue, but it had stock launcher when I used it.
To sum up.
For me the LG G3 hits more of the right spots for me. My opinion may change once I get mine. But he loves his, and I really enjoyed the time I used it.

Anandtech reviewed a preproduction Korean model. Many of the issues they had with the screen have been fixed in the production International model.

The Korean models aren't all preproduction lol. People keep saying that. The early review units were as in the day of announcement. All G3s are the same now and have been fixed via a firmware update

Uh, duh? Saying they reviewed a preproduction Korean model does not imply that ALL Korean models are preproduction - just the one they got like every other review copy. Reading comprehension...

I always appreciate Anand and his reviews. That said, I'm still buying the phone, as my review is the most important.

My thoughts exactly. I have been reading so many reviews and watching video reviews. Most love the phone...... Some acknowledged that they had pre production models and were waiting for the production models and would review them again. Most of the people that have the phone are giving it a thumbs up. I will get the AT&T model and do my own personal review.

I keep seeing people dinging on the battery life, but battery life is such a relative measure. For me, it just needs to get me to the end of the day, I plug my phone into a charger when i go to sleep. I've also got a 1+ hour commute in each direction, so I attach my device to a 2A charger in my car for the trip, which makes a big difference.
Plus I guarantee someone's going to come up with a larger battery for the thing, that's the nice part about removable batteries.
Anyway, I'm more concerned with the other aspects of the QHD screen, including app compatibility. Also wondering how HDX Vudu and Netflix content will look and if the G3 attempts to sharpen/upscale that content or not.

Only thing that concerns me now is the speakers. He just mentioned they were there, before moving onto something more positive.

Was a nice looking phone from the pictures looks even better in that video. I was also a little sceptical of the camera but now I'm sold. Looking forward to my first Nexus device.

As opposed to every other top device that has a single speaker facing away from you? This was one of the boxes that had to be ticked for my new phone.

Nexus 6 can't come fast enough! Put me out of my misery! Sold my old Galaxy Nexus (yes that's right) in anticipation for this and I'm using a crappy BlackBerry Curve I borrowed as a temp.

Just got a chance to watch it on my TV, holy hell it looks beautiful.
Also, they really did have nothing bad to say in this video. Very surprising to say the least! I hope we get more video/pictures of the device soon!

Yeah it looks da business. I certainly can't wait till the 29th. Hopefully this is an indication of more reviews and indepth vids to come, because this slow trickle of info is killing me slowly

Having them facing you is pointless if the sound is extremely tinny. Hence my concern.
There is very little space for those speakers under that small bezel. They look very similar to my Moto G, which is quite worrisome for a premium device. The top speaker is nearly always more audible than the bottom one too. This was the case in the Moto G, and is also the case with the Xperia Z2 and Z3 as well.
Then again, with the wider chassis, it will hopefully have a bit more oomph.

This is the one thing I was delighted to hear from the video. Hopefully we'll hear more comments like this before it gets released.

Thanks for the video. This just made things more difficult for me since I'm back to contemplating if I should've chosen white over black....

Did anyone notice the Volta app thing in the video from the verge? I wonder if its a google app for project volta or if it's a 3rd paty app

Lol, I've been a LONG time member even if I don't post much. I'm simply on the fence and want to see as many actual hands on videos as possible to help in my purchase decision. If you head over to you tube and search for "nexus 9 hands on" it's pretty easy to see why I made the thread.

I'd like to see one with the keyboard.

There are only about 4 known hands-on videos of the Nexus 9 and 2 of those are in Vietnamese. They interesting thing is that the Vietnamese ones are the most in-depth. The other two are hands on video from Techcrunch and TheVerge where they were only given a very limited amount of time with the device at google.
When he says fake videos, he means the hundreds of videos on youtube that are just either duplicate copies of the same videos, slideshows of pictures and specs, or videos not even related to the Nexus 9. They are basically "clickbait" videos by Youtube uploaders that want views.

You are aware that The Verge's video was not a "one minute review", right?
1) It was a hands-on
2) It was a video with a time-limited constraint, most likely at Google's premises, unlike Android Central's hands on that came two days later and without such time constraint.
Just sayin....

Verge sure as hell ensured that the short amount of time is used to express their own disgust towards products that are not made by Apple in every sentence throughout the hands-on.
They succeeded in doing so.

I think you're overreacting. The worst thing he said about it was that it was a bit thicker than the ipad and that it was an inbetweener device between the ipad mini and ipad air due to its screen size.

I don't like the subtle boredom in his voice, like he's forced to do the review.
Stuff like "well yeah, it's an ANDROID tablet [...] MAYBE that's what you're looking for"... come on.
Seriously, they should go back reviewing to their super-duper premium iPads that have no flaws at all and giving it 11/10 in the scores.

It is because of inflammatory statements such as this one that invalidate your other claim of him sounding bored which may be very well the case, but due to the typical "Android fanboy"-hyperbolic claims, you're making it harder for the rest of us when we intend to make an actual criticism.
The hands-on done by The Verge was not an Android bashing party, nor an iPhone praising celebration as you're making it sound.

Of course the last sentence was over the top as Im pissed off by the way certain reviewers dont even try to hide their bias ..

Maybe some people just have smug sounding voices. We should just accept reviews at face value based on the content of their words, not by their tone. If anything, the guy's opinions were pretty objective, moreso than any i've seen on the Nexus 9. Lacking in both criticisms and superlatives.

What exactly about the Note 2014 was a pain to update?
I've owned 3 Nexus devices (4,5, and 7 2012) and they were a breeze to update. Just had to wait a week or two for it become available OTA.

Let me guess the verge review just for fun, since they gave n5 8.0 and 8.8 to the moto x and they called the best android phone.

I really really think that nexus 6 will get a 9 (or close 8.8/8.9) from verge and 90 from engadget. They're iVerge, i admit but don't lie. They exaggerate that's all

Not much difference between lying and exaggerating. iVerge is correct and I wouldn't look to them for a review on anything.

http://www.engadget.com/2014/11/11/motorola-droid-turbo-review/ got a 90 today so unless there are surprises the Nexus 6 should score higher based on lack of exclusivity, its dual front facing stereo speakers, Android L, design closer to a larger Moto X but with a smaller battery than Turbo & they may not detract for the lower pixel density..

SUMMARY
While it lacks the style and charm of the 2014 Moto X, the Droid Turbo is a powerhouse that manages to outperform its relative in nearly every way that matters. Sadly, it's a Verizon exclusive so the rest of you (unless you live in Brazil and Mexico and buy a Moto Maxx) need not apply..
The Moto X and the Droid Turbo both sport 5.2-inch AMOLED screens, but that's where the similarities end (much to the chagrin of X owners, I'd wager). That's because the panel Motorola used on the Turbo runs at Quad HD (or 2,560 x 1,440, if you haven't already committed it to memory), making it one of the most pixel-dense displays you'll find on a smartphone. The effect, as you'd imagine, is pretty stunning. Your stories, your videos, your apps; they're going to look just lovely. That said, a screen like this will make you all too aware that the internet is peppered with low-res images and icons, so be ready to shield your eyes whenever you come across them. Skype is a good example of this visual discrepancy in action: Your messages will look crisp, while emoticons will be tiny since they're so low-res.
At some point, though, you've got to wonder when (or even if) enough will be enough. Do all those extra pixels crammed into each linear inch really make a difference? We're getting to the point where the inability to distinguish one pixel from another is just a given, so all the other factors suddenly become more important. The Turbo's Super AMOLED panel, for instance, can oscillate between bright, punchy colors and sumptuous blacks. The downside is that images and video take on a slightly warm cast (Sutton Foster look distinctly tanned in one of my test videos), which won't be everyone's cup of tea. Viewing angles are solid too, if not the best I've come across, and even at maximum brightness, the Turbo's screen still doesn't light up the night with quite the same vigor as the Moto X.
Ah, but here's the rub! That screen might lend itself well to your video collection, but the single-speaker setup isn't going to thrill you. Frankly, this part's a little frustrating -- even the budget-priced Moto G has a pair of front-facing speakers, while the clearly higher-end Turbo has to make do with one less driver. The end result is audio that's plenty loud, but cramped and muddy, without much distinction between channels. That's not to say the speaker's bad, per se; it's on par with most of the speakers in other smartphones, which is to say they get the job done and don't aspire to much more. Keep a pair of headphones handy and you'll never have to worry about it..
The Droid Turbo is frustrating. It's objectively better than the Moto X in most of the ways that matter: Its battery is tremendous (if not as amazing as Verizon claims); the screen is lovely; and the camera is actually worth using. Some might say this is the phone the Moto X should've been in the first place, and I can't argue with that. Still, as ridiculous as it sounds, the Turbo is severely lacking in the charm that made the X so pleasant, and that shouldn't be discounted. Go to a store. Play with both. You'll see what I mean. The fact that only Verizon customers can currently buy such a great phone doesn't help matters either.
Here's what it boils down to: The Droid Turbo is an undeniably great device and probably the best carrier-exclusive phone since the days of, well, the original Motorola Droid. It won't win any awards for design or sound quality, but that won't make anyone who already bought a Moto X feel better.

Who cares what the Verge says? I only read to their articles to see the very small nitpicks that other sites usually miss but they are pretty biased towards Apple. I'm looking forward to reviews by AndroidPolice, AndroidAuthority, MKBHD, Anandtech, MobileTechReview and TheDetroitBorg.

AndroidPolice, AndroidAuthority, MKBHD (great 4K videos), Anandtech, MobileTechReview (good long videos) do tend to go much more in depth including the YouTube channels linked (though never heard of TheDetroitBorg).. I also check out https://www.youtube.com/user/jon4lakers/videos even though they luv Apple & don't go as in depth as they used to..

If someone took an iPhone and painted over the fruit logo and gave it to Verge for review, they'd find a way to slam it. Least objective and most biased site out there. I still can't get over how they said the Note 4 was too big, yet the iPhone 6+ which is bigger with a smaller screen was said to be easier to hold. The site is a total joke.
Sadly one of the best sites, AnandTech, also lost its objectivity when Anand joined Apple and long before that, they were also Apple biased.

DetroitBorg is an Apple user but his reviews are very informative, he goes in-depth and his videos just look great. Top notch reviewer imo.

Anyone know if there is a time expiration for the embargo or just date? If date we could see something in the next 20 minutes or so.

Alex Maxham seems to have jumped the gun a bit with a poorly lighted 3:48 min:sec "review" (briefly compares to Note4 toward end with audible speakers albeit just annoying notification sounds)
