[Q] I think I soft brick my phone? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was going to root my Note 3 N900 but then I added both the same md5 file to AP and CSC and now it won't start, saying something like "firmware encountered an upgrade error". Can someone help me out please, I am worried. I already downloaded the stock roms, and odin, I just need to know if there are extra things/files that I need.

If you are able to start the phone in download mode you are ok.
Just flash stock rom and you will be back to business.

Galaxy S4 reverting back to stock

Hi there,
I have installed Cyanogenmod on my S4, but it isn't what i needed on my phone. So I want to revert back to the stock firmware. I planned on doing this via Odin, yet i don't manage to do so. I open Odin, load the PDA, wait for it to load, click on start and get a fail message: Fail (auth). On the S4 i see the text 'sw rev check fail fused 3 binary 1'. Next my phone won't boot anymore untill I flash CWM. I have searched the internet for a solution but I cannot find my problem anywhere. I'm in desperate search for a solution.

Stock rom fails in Odin

I have tried out several roms, I have tripped knox and I am on new bootloader.
I am wondering what I can/should do to get a working stock phone again.
I can do:
Install Omega Rom V19. Installs and runs with no sound.
Install Omega RomV21. Fails during install. At the very end.
Install I9505XXUEML6-PRE-ROOTED-Odex-KNOXFree-CWM. Fails during the end of install.
Install I9505_-_Official_Google_Edition_4.4.2_by_Jamal2367_Final-R1.1.Installs and works, but no sound.
I have downloaded the newest firmware for my carrier: I9505XXUEML6_I9505TENEML1_TEN through Odin, but ut fails. I have tried both 3.04 and 3.09.
On the phone below the knox-line it says this is download mode:
SW REV. CHECK FAIL : fused 4. Binary : 3
Can anyone make anything of this? Is my original firmware too old? Do I have to try another rom? Is there one to try? As far as I know the new bootloader will not accept downgrades. True? The firmare I have tried is dated January 19th 2014.
I am at a totall loss here

Did you get anywhere with this? I've got a similar issue after trying to flash a kitkat rom, the correct bootloader and modem combo and I have no sound/cant make calls. DSP manager always FC's and if I try and make a call, it goes to a blank screen until the call is hung up (someone said his phone rings but cant hear anything - cant hear sound on my end either.)
Other thing is that in download mode I cant see anything to do with knox - there is no entry for knox at all.
One thing suggested is to download Samsung stock rom and flashing that, then try something else.
Any help appreciated.

Yes, by flashing the leaked 4.4.2 rom through Odin.
When you start flashing in Odin, make sure you get the Green Pass Message by waiting 2 or more minutes.
Don't restart or unplug your phone during the yellow or blue Message.
Samsung galaxy s4 sound failure

[Q] Big problem! I need help!

Hi everyone!
First of all I am sorry for my poor english, it's my third language...
I have a Samsung S4 SGH-I337M (The canadian one with Fido).
I used to root it, and then try some different custom rom and after this I wanted to put back the orginal firmware using ODIN because I installed not correctly a ROM and I didnt have the application to purshase APPs lol,... But my usb wire got disconnected from the phone while I was puting the firmware back into the phone! Now I cant boot my phone.... It tell me : " Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again. "..
And when I use ODIN, I receive a fail message telling me I am missing a PIT file.
But I dont have any PIT file,... I am lost haha... I hope someone can help me with it!
And if its possible, maybe I can dirrectly install a new custom ROM dirrectly from ODIN ? At this moment nothing work on my phone....

Update failed?

Hi. I had a pop up on my phone to say that I had an update and accepted it. I put my phone done and went for a shower, leaving it to update. When I came back, my phone firmware upgrade encountered an issue. I tried the suggested steps in kies but my phone doesnt appear. After 3 hours of research I try a thing called Odin, using a guide and downloading an md5 (?) file from a website called Sam mobile. This only fails. If anyone can save my phone then your my hero. Thank you in advance.
Place the ROM you downloaded in the BL slot in Odin and flash.
Hi Thank you. I have just tried this and it has failed.
Are you stuck on the "Firmware encountered an issue" screen? Check your connections. Make sure you're using the original cable and are not connected to a hub. Then try again.
If that doesn't work, enter download mode and read off the model of S4, then tell us your country and your carrier.

Hi. Yes I am. My model is GT-I9505. I am from the UK and with the Three network.
I've downloaded both of these and neither work:
sammobile.com/firmwares/download/28265/I9505XXUFNC5_I9505H3GFNC2_H3G/
sammobile.com/firmwares/download/48264/I9505XXUHOD7_I9505H3GHOD1_H3G/
UPDATE:
I've just tried again and it says get PIT for mapping. There is no PIT partition. I'm clueless. Thank you.
The current ROM for your device is here. As an alternative, you can use the unbranded firmware here. Double-check all connections, and flash the ROM through the BL slot in Odin, as that is the only way to resolve the "Firmware encountered an issue" problem. If necessary, pull the battery before attempting to flash.
If you need a PIT file, one can be found on the forums. Insert it into the right place with Odin and it will repartition the device.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 System software not authorized by ATT has been found

Got a huge problem with a AT&T phone Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Got it from an ebay handler. It was supposed to be rooted. However, after installing Magisk software (https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445) I got the message "System software not authorized by ATT has been found on your phone". Whenever I turn it on, I see it and the phone doesn't start. Since more than 6 months have passed, the ebay handler declined to help. I called AT&T, but since the phone is rooted, they declined to repair it even after I offered to pay. There are some solutions I found online for other samsung galaxy models, but none which works for note 4.
Tried to restore the system to the factory version, it said that restoration has been successful, but I still see the AT&T message.
I followed the instructions to unbrick the phone by reinstalling the firmware - the method that should work for all phones (not just note 3) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bv_NCfYemEs with the firmware for SM-N910A , however no matter how long I waited, the download process never completed.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Grab latest firmware for N910A from here
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120746376
Make sure samsung usb drivers are properly installed on your pc before you begin.
STEPS
1 Download odin and Firmware and Extract it.
2 open odin tool and upload firmware in AP slot.
Odin can take up to 5 minutes to upload firmware so be patient
3 put phone into download mode
4 connect phone via usb cable and hit start.
5 After FLASH once odin shows pass boot into stock recovery by pressing 3 button combo volume up+ home+ power.
6 in recovery do wipe cache+ wipe data factory reset.
7 reboot system and wait 10 to 5 minutes.
DONE
Trex888 method should be good, however you may need to find the pit file and flash it before odin back to stock. I bought my note 4 already rooted, but the person that did it used the wrong files to flash. Mine was good but buggy. The rom flashed was not verizon, and it locked out some partitions including the one where the imei was held. I had to fix the partitions with the pit file then reflash to a different rom and i was good to go after that.
Thanks
Thanks for the reply! Great! I will try that - very hopeful

You dont need dedicated pit file unless your device has errors such as "dm verity verification failed" or failed to mount cache/efs etc etc.
If stock rom flashing by odin went smoothly no require for repartition or pit file.
Playing with pit file and repartition is extremely dangerous and can cause device to hard brick so i would not recommend unless some serious issues with device.
Fyi every samsung stock firmware has pit file in the system image by default and odin take advantage of it by it self during flashing.
Have a nice day.

in my case, whoever flashed my phone flashed an f file instead of the v file. It lost the imei and would not recognize a sim card. I tried flashing original firmware but the imei was still gone. The ONLY thing that saved mine was to find the correct pit file and flash it before firmware. It fixed my issue and got me back up and running. every original fw flash for me failed until I flashed just the pit. I cannot explain why the original fw included in the odin package would NOT work. Hence the statement of "you may need to" instead of "you will have to".
