I have a I9505 which had 4.2.2 version. Then, I have rooted it and installed Teamwin Recovery. I had this for almost 1 year; some weeks ago, I decided to upgrade it to 4.4.2 kitkat.
Then, I flashed the full stock ROM (I9505_ZTO_GHI2) got from Sammobile. After this, I realised that I don´t get to access recovery mode anymore. It´s not a volume button issue, since when I press the 3 buttons together (vol up + home + power) and keep them pressed for some seconds, I can see a small "recovery mode" or something similar in the display in blue color, but then, when I release the buttons, it boots in normal mode.
On the other hand, I get to access download mode normally (vol down + home + power).
How can I solve this??

Well you dont have to keep the buttons pressed.
When you press the Volume up+center button+Power button.
Release them when the phone starts and shows the Samsung i9505 screen.
In a fraction of a second press the volume up and center button for a longer duration and you'll see the recovery.
For the blue screen you're talking about, it is the stock recovery (samsung stock recovery)

Anytime mate!
But remember..now you have A Knox enabled bootloader. So flashing anything custom (recovery/rom) will trip it to 0x1 and it cannot be set to 0 again.
Tripping the KNOX counter is considered to be a void warranty signal in some countries.
But as I read, your phone is a year old..flash that thing and make it awesome
But still there are ways in the i9505 to flash custom roms without tripping knox.
Happy flashing

In Developer options, enable the Advanced Reboot.
The 3 button combo will work, it's just a matter of timing. Remove and replace the battery, hold vol up + home, then power, holding all three, and when it vibrates, let go of power only.
You could also hook up in USB Debugging mode and issue the command:
adb reboot recovery
And if you don't have a developer option go into about phone and tap build number 7 times.

Some people, including myself, cannot get it to work with the standard procedure...the solution is to basically do it twice. Here's a copy/paste of the instructions:
Long press the power button and choose "power off". Give your phone a few seconds to turn off completely. Once it's off, press and hold these 3 buttons at the same time: POWER+VOLUME UP+HOME. Look at the top left of the screen - as soon as you see little blue text saying entering recovery, let go of all buttons immediately...but be ready...if your phone vibrates (it might be trying to reboot normally again), press and hold those same buttons again until you see the blue text again...then let go immediately. Now you will see your recovery!

Cool
CWM recovery only requires you to push the volume up key and then press the power key until the phone vibrates and then let go of the power button only. When the blue lettering appears, let go of the volume up. The home button should only be required with TWRP.

Whatever the reason, that is not the case with my phone and many others. I've read several threads of people having the same issue. I'm not sure if it's an issue with the OUDHS CWM w/ auto-loki or what.
I've never heard of letting go of the power button only while still pressing volume up, but I gave it a try just to see...it did get me into CWM recovery but only after doing it twice, similar to the method I wrote above.
I have tried letting go of both volume up and power (no pressing home at all) and never found a way to get into recovery.
Anyways, it seems there's no harm in pressing the home button either way and it's probably easier than letting go of the power button and still holding volume up...and easier to explain too lol.

My minor issue is that when I boot to recovery (twrp) it get to the twrp splash screen then freeze. Takes me another reboot or two before recovery really launches.
Tried reinstalling recovery and fixing permission, etc.. but same deal. Anyone have thoughts on this?
I boot into recovery all the time but I have to hold volume up and home button.
Bump!
I'm having the same issue. What I did was that I had the CWM recovery installed and tried to reset the flash counter. Now the phone won't boot into the recovery, it just boots up as usual when I press vol up+home+power up. I appreciate any help! :/

Can you get the blue text in the upper left corner of the screen to appear at any time?
In my case, trying to get into recovery via the 3 buttons is a matter of very precise timing if I try pressing all 3 buttons at the same time. The instant I see the blue text I let go of everything and it works. Hold it for even a fraction of a second longer and the blue disappears and it goes into a normal boot. It works much better if I press Vol Up, then add Power, then add Home. I'm doing that sequence fairly quickly but the point is I'm not trying to press 3 buttons at the exact same time.
But I'm using CWM so I don't need the 3rd button...
From a powered-down state I hold Vol Up then Power and hold both through the vibration until the blue text appears and it goes into CWM recovery just fine. There seems to be a bit more leeway in terms of how fast you need to let go this way although I just tested and holding about a half second too long caused it to bounce out of recovery and do a normal boot. Let go immediately when you see the blue.
Phone won't boot..
So after using CASUAL, my phone rebooted, and got stuck on the splash screen with RECOVERY BOOTING.. in the top left corner. I pull the battery, try to do a normal reboot; takes me to the same screen. Trying the 3 button combo for recovery; same thing. Any suggestions?? I am NOT on MF3 Firmware.
**EDIT** Should have looked into it more before posting, but Found my solution returning to STOCK

unfreeze messaging app
restart bluetooth pairings
uninstall beauty face
uninstall best face
and then restarted my phone, and will not come back on? What the hell?
Will not enter recovery, at all. Just stays frozen on SAMSUNG. Not amused, please help if you can
Are you sure you are pressing the correct buttons? Volume UP + Power, when the device vibrates release the Power button and when 'Recovery Booting...' blue text appears release Volume UP button.
If you still can't enter the recovery mode there is only one option left: flash stock firmware with Odin!

however there doesnt look like much i can do with recovery mode. the only backup is a year old and might as well be reflashing. is there some way to get into safe mode and maybe undo the changes i made in TitBackup?
To start Safe Mode you have to Power on the device with the Volume DOWN button pressed, until it boots up
I've encountered the following problem with my Galaxy Note 4: I just bought it online from a guy who turned out to be a fraud and I was not able to find or contact him again via the internet market place. So that was really stupid of me...and expensive...and I regret it very much and with hind site I should have picked up the signs but...o well you got the picture...I got ripped.
Anyways after careful inspection it turned out to be a real genuine Note 4 N910F with 64 Gb but with a korean or chinese or something recovery mode (I saw it once when I got home), an imei not to be found on any stolen phone list and working correctly with an european rom that includes English and Dutch at that point.
That's when I decided to factory reset it and then I got into trouble again: For some reason it got stuck in a boot loop with just a No Command message. Normally you can reach the recovery mode by pressing Volume Up +Home +Power but now nothing happens. It's not a real brick but with just the No Command message and no access to the recovery mode I don't know how to fix this.
Can anyone help me with a clue on how to get out of a No Command loop without recovery mode? Or how to get into recovery mode if start with Key Up etc does not work? Or any other clue that could help me?
Thanks in advance!
Kind regards,
Rene (aka the guy who got ripped off but hopes to save the phone)
Can you get into download mode?
Thanks dr.mOx for responding!
I tried both volume up+home+power to get into recovery mode and also volume down+home+power to get into download mode but in both cases the device starts and shows me the android robot on it's back with a red warning triangle containing an exclamation mark and below the robot the message "No command." . The screen blinks every two or three seconds. The power button is not shutting the phone down in this state. I have to remove the battery to retry.
Battey out. Then in. Go to download mode. Flash stock rom with odin

Hi Ozzyblack. The thing is that, if I'm correct, when I press volume down+home+power to get into download mode I expect some sort of menu to appear asking to go into download mode or not. Am I correct? I saw same sceendump about that. And now I keep getting the No Command window. Do you think I miss something here? I do press volume down first, then home (keeping volume down pressed), and them the power button (keeping all buttons pressed). After a few seconds the display turns a bit more grey for a sec and then the android robot appears. But no message of sorts about getting into download mode.
Hi reborn67.
**Only if you have a galaxy note 4 N910F model**
If you can get into download mode your safe, and you can reflash an offical ROM, there is no menu system in Download mode so don't worry.
Don't stay in download mode forever or a long time, i.e. power off and wait till you have the ROM and Odin before you go into download mode as it sometimes times out even though it still shows in download mode.
Go to here http://samsung-updates.com/details/37086/Galaxy_Note_4_Snapdragon/SM-N910F/DBT/N910FXXU1ANK4.html download the ROM, and then download Odin here https://mega.co.nz/#!UdRRyCAT!H4FyVxYynNWvXqRNmnpMGQRCP-dG3uykgP2pT4rh8Ek
These are the instructions from sammobile on how to flash ROm with Odin.Instructions
1-Extract (unzip) the firmware file
2-Download Odin v3.09
3-Extract Odin zip-file
4-Open Odin v3.09 (make sure the extracted rom file "N910FXXU1ANK4_N910FOXA1ANK4_N910FXXU1ANK4_HOME.tar.md5" is in the same folder as Odin before opening up Odin.
5-Reboot phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
6-Connect phone and wait until you get a blue/orange sign in Odin (above text top left ID:COM)
7-Add the firmware file to AP / PDA
IMPORTANT** Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait a few minutes
I always do a hard reset after flashing new ROM's (settings, backup and reset, factory data reset)
I have a network locked UK N910F on EE and use this German ROM with no problems, this ROM has little bloatware.
Thanks gadjet. I do have odin and a stock rom ready for use now:
1-I tested odin and the usb port plus driver setup with my 'old' galaxy s4 and within a second the ID:Com in Odin turns blue. So that seems to be working fine.
2-So now I put in the Note 4 battery and connect to usb WITHOUT ANY KEYS PRESSED...just to test! And the usb connection bleeps from windows confirm a device is connected...so far so good.
3-Last and most important step fails: Reboot phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons), the 'no command' robot is still there, and also connect phone and wait until you get a blue/orange sign in Odin (above text top left ID:COM) never happens. And also there are no windows usb connection bleeps so apparently there's a difference when I tried to select download mode.
Please know that I'm really thankful for all the great tips. But I guess I'm still missing something here.
Kind regards,
Rene

Hello! When I power the device on the Samsung Logo appears for 1 second and then it turns off. I can go in download mode but can't in recovery. It just flashes again the Samsung logo and turns off. I tried to flash stock firmware via Odin. It was a success but again the same thing happened. Did I brick the device? Thanks!
When you flashed recovery, did you uncheck auto reboot and boot into stock recovery to perform a factory wipe before booting for the first time?
Does the rom boot?

The actual way to enter recovery is.
Volume up+home+power button
As soon as you see the Samsung logo..leave the combo then within a jiffy press the volume up+home button (no power button...NO POWER BUTTON!!!)
You will enter recovery.

the far simpler method is boot off, then hold volume up and power together (nothing else) until you see blue text at the top of the screen. at this point you instantly want to let go of everything, and that's it...
I've bricked my phone before with mobile Odin and it took out my recovery so I guess it's possible the OP might not actually have one.
@3mel, the stock rom combo is vol up + home + power button.
What you are reffering to is the custom rom combo. For some reason they are different.

I've already tried that (Volume Up + Home Button + Power Button), but the phone doesn't respond on that. At the moment in the top left corner appears "Recovery Booting" and then immediately switch to Download Mode. Several times I took out the battery and wait a few mins but even that didn't help.
