Lol, there's no need. This one will work perfectly fine on Lollipop. Same deal. Place in /system/media or /data/local.
It's just a boot animation. Doesn't rely on any sort of frameworks or anything. As long as it's the correct resolution it will work. This animation looks pretty solid to me. Not sure why it would need an update, or "release version".
Rocking it on final developer preview right now it looks great.
can i flash the zip on latest l preview?

^Your answer is here^
A boot animation is nothing but a zip. It will work on any Android device as long as custom boot animations are enabled (I believe in pure stock, it's a little different)
Is it possible to make an .apk version of this? Might wanna revert in the future and I'll have to look again for my backup bootanimationzip.

If the zip isn't already named "bootanimation.zip" - rename it to that. Use a file explorer with root permissions and go to /system/media/
Find the "bootanimation.zip" that's already there. Rename that one to "bootanimation.zip.bak"
Place this boot animation that you renamed to start with in /system/media/ and you're good to go. If you ever want to revert to your old boot animation then delete this one and delete the .bak extension from your original one...

Aurora ICS Bootanimation
For dzo's Aurora ICS 4.0.3 ROM
Gentlemen... I give you, the Aurora ICS boot animation!
This is the first time I tried to make a bootanimation and of course, every tip, suggestion or idea is welcomed!
Size is 480x800
Sample:
Left Sample is outdated, see changelog.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update 1/2/2012
- Added an bootlogo without animation so it can be as small as possible.
(dzo said the maximum size for /system has been reached. The animated was 7mb and this one is just 600kb)
Update 26/2/2012:
- Added a SourceForge download link.
Animated Version v1.1 changelog:
- Added fade in to background too
- Centered the text horizontaly (they were a bit to the right, lol)
- Added more frames Note: It seems to be laggy because the OS is loading at the beggining!
Animated Version v1.0:
- Initial Release
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 1, Download "bootanimation.zip" from the links below:
Animated:
SOURCEFORGE or DROPBOX
Simple:
SOURCEFORGE
Step 2, Install:
You can use ES Explorer to navigate to:
/data/local
(NOT data/data/local !!)
and replace the existing bootanimation.zip with this one.
IMPORTANT NOTE Not in SDcard, but the internal memory. In order to achieve that to this ROM, I had to set the default "Home Directory" of ES Explorer to be just: "/" (without quotes of course!). You will have to enable "Root explorer" in ES Explorer options before trying copying the .zip too.
Also, a big thanks to dzo for making this awesome ROM!
That's awesome as ****... can you center the text vertically? If not, doesn't matter, because that's one great boot anim!
Very good. When there is download link and tutorial i will try it.
I understand that the developer of Aurora ROM doesn't want to waste time with this details which can then be made.

I think it will run faster if you decrease the size of each picture and increase their number (to keep the resolution-animation fluent). But I don't know how...

Heh... Mind your language and stuff. Not that most of us mind too much, but I think it's a forum rule >_>
But yes, the animation's looking good. But the problem isn't in the image size, but indeed it's the image count -there are only 6 frames for the fade in, and the rest of the animation is only 3 frames on loop. That's why it looks laggy.

I like it very much! Yeah it's totally normal to lag at the beginning. All the boot animations I've tried at every rom lagged for the first 1~2 seconds because of the OS. Nice work my friend! I would love to see a "heart pulse" effect at the words though. Or something with the stars... some loop animations... you know... let your fantasy speak!
Thanks!

No worries, whenever you can!
BTW, when you flash a new version of aurora you dont have to install the bootanimation again. The update doesn't affect the bootanimation, unless dzo changes it himself (on future updates).

Looks good! Much nicer than the normal Android bootanimation.
I completely edited the Energy BIOS boot animation to U8800, besides the android animation at the end.
On ICS 2.02
1- Download "Energy BIOS boot animation for U8800.zip" and copy it to your SDcard
2- Press and hold POWER button.
3- Hit "Reboot"
4- Hit "Recovery" and "OK"
5- After CWM runs, hit "Install zip from SDcard"
6- Choose "Energy BIOS boot animation for U8800.zip"
7- Hit Yes - Install "Energy BIOS boot animation for U8800.zip"
8- Hit "Back" on your soft buttons
9- Hit "Reboot System"
10- Benefit!
Other ROMS
I have not tried it on any other ROMS but ICS 2.02. I am going to add the "bootanimation.zip" as an attachment. Following method should work on other custom and official roms.
1- Download "bootanimation.zip"
2- Copy it to your SDcard.
3- Copy the file and replace it with the one on system/media with rootexplorer.
4- Reboot your device.
You may also push the "bootimage.zip" to system/media with SDK.
IN CASE YOU MAY WANT TO RECOVER YOUR OLD BOOTIMAGE, RENAME THE ONE ON SYSTEM/MEDIA TO ANYTHING.

I can say that it is completely different from the one you used besides the android animation at the end. U8800 specs, logo, and new font added. It means that nothing left from the boot animation but the android animation.
I am glad you liked and using it.
I like this animation, but when I flashed it through CWM, it didn't change it. So i looked where the bootanimation.zip was stored, it was in /system/media/, so i copied it to /data/local where it should be and it works now. I think it even boots faster compared to previous animation. Thanks!
Nice work, I really like the design, much better than the original Aurora animation, imho.
Thanks for your work

So how am I being stupid?
Open link in Chrome and it takes me to all the images. Without any ability to just grab the file.
Open the link in Next and I have the option to open with Drive. In Drive it opens to the two folders and the desc.text file, I extract them to my sdcard, select them all and zip them into bootanimation.zip move them to system/media and change the permissions. However, when I check properties it shows up as rdx-r, click change and it shows they are set rw-r-r, what the heck am I doing wrong?

This is really nice, definitely going to use it. Is it just a resize of lower resolution images, or could the original developer actually make it in the higher resolution images?

I love the design of the animation and installed it successfully, but in my eyes it looks a little soft.
Perhaps because its source is lower resolution...
It would be so cool to have this animation in full screen resolution, but i think this is not easy to get.

Do you see on Tab3 7.0 just a black screen or a wrong scaled bootanimation !?
And I've searched on google about bootanimations on the 7.0 variant and found out, they're using .zip's
This means a 7.0 device shouldn't even boot with my .qmg bootanimation
I'm a little bit confused :silly: :silly: lol

Oh, i could make a flashable .zip for CWM ,too.
I am going to change the size of every picture inside the original bootanimation.zip and then covert it to bootsamsung.qmg
Nonta72 made a tutorial for converting
[Guide][Noobs]How to convert bootanimation.zip to bootsamsung.qmg ?

Yes this works with every free drawing software like irfanview, paint.net, gimp, even microsoft paint should be able to do this job.
Edit:
I meant you can rotate the images inside the bootanimazion.zip .
You cant do this with an already generated .qmg file
No i'm not flashing it. I can use rom toolbox and switch bootanimation.zip easily that way.

Port it to Note 10.1 please
Hello, may you please port this also to the Galaxy Note 10.1, i tried to follow your guide but it does not work, it just shows a blank screen
Thanks in advance
*EDIT: Found that I had forgotten to change permissions, but now the animation is availabe, but there is no movement the, it just shows some faded Android text

Hi
I've been using Cataclysm Rom since its JellyBean days. It the first and the last Rom that I always use as a daily driver on both my N4 and N5. Now I've retired both the devices and have bought a OnePlus2. Although I don't regret buying the Oneplus2, I surely miss Cataclysm. And it goes without saying, @atl4ntis has created a 'Gem of a Rom'.
Here is my take on the Cataclysm bootanimation for the Hammerhead. The sequence is at 60 fps. It has 3 parts to it. The beginning (part0), a loop (part1) and an end (part2).

Download the bootanimation.zip file and copy/paste it to /system/media/bootanimation.zip on your device and change its permissions to 644 (rw-r--r--).

Flashable zip coming up soon!
P.S. I’ll be uploading one for the N4 (Mako) and N5 2015 (Bullhead) as well.
Enjoy!
Thank you @scoobyjenkins and @sewer56lol for guiding me through the process of making my first boot animation for the Oxyslim Rom on the Oneplus 2.
Excellent work!

That's a cool animation. I haven't tried it yet so it might already work like how I'm about to describe. But the latest Android Boot animations have had three parts to them. A starting animation, a loop animation that loops until everything is loaded and an animation right before it ends. I think this would be cool set up in that way. the first would be the logo and text coming in. The second would be the flickering just looping. And the last would be the screen off effect before it boots.

Why don't you download it first and give it a try.
This is cool, but what if I would like to switch back to default Android M boot animation ?
Update: replaced on default bootanimation.zip on Cataclysm Jan 5 Stable release, working like a charm, thanks
Very nice animation, thank you!
Good job, thank you @Andro1d
A flashable zip would be very appreciated. Nice job btw. Keep it up.

I can make one, but I'll need a tester before I upload it. I don't have the device with me anymore.

Totally unnecessary, flashing the zip would be more work than just replacing the file in root explorer...most people would want to backup the original boot animation.

You don't need the device to create a flashable. Just have the script extract /system/. As long as the file names are the same and in the proper place, they'll replace each other.
If you want, I could whip one up. [emoji14]
