Hi...I am planning to get a Nexus 7, 32gb, wifi+mobile data, unlocked model from US with the help of a friend. I just wanted to know whether
1)it will work with 3G sim of operators like Airtel/Vodafone/BSNL in India??
2)Whether the device will have international warranty so that i can get it repaired in India if something goes wrong?
Thank you..
I have Nexus 7, will any indian SIM work on it
I wanted to know if any Indian SIM will work on Nexus 7 3g.
Does anyone have an answer ? I am also planning to buy the Nexus 7 3G model too.
Will it work with ANY MICRO SIM ? or is it specific for DATA ONLY SIM CARDS ?
It should work..
And Asus have international warranty for most of the stuff they sold.
Beamed from my Grouper.

Hello Guys,
I will receive my new Nexus7 today from US.
I have some points that I can clarify:
1). Yes it is a 3G device but does not support voice call only data is supported.
2). All Indian 3G sim cards will work (micro sims).
3). Though, sms can be used using sms apps like GOSMS Pro.
4). The device has a voice calling chip enabled but it is locked on the radio level and till now developers have not devised a way to unlock it or get it to work, you all can find lots of discussion on this on different user threads here on XDA.
not working in bsnl cellone
I own a nexus 7 in india originally shipped from us. The At&t sim works jus fine, with that my n7 detects APN and other things perfectly. But when my bsnl cellone Sim cut to the micro Sim size is inserted, it shows no service and there isn't any APN listed.
I tried the following
1. setting up APN manually. but n7 doesn't save the APN settings that I enter
2. choosing cellone network manually in the mobile networks section. but it says cannot connect to this network, try again later.
this is my experience I am trying other options but no progress so far. any suggestions?
I'm using n7 3g which was brought here in India by my cousin with tata docomo photon 3g sim cut to size. Everything rocks and blazing fast

After you enter APN settings, before going back you must click 3dot menu and click on save for it to save settings. Then go back and select that APN.
If you just go back, it wont save it.
I have 3 N7 in family for 3 members on Airtel, Vodafone and MTNL respectively. All working just fine with 3G.
Nexus 7 works fine on any 3g micro sim plus wifi.
I also received a voice call on my landline in US from India from the Nexus 7 through a google voice activated number (using grooveIP) and when the device was in the US in November of 2012 - could make voice calls to India through Vonage extensions
Just my two cents
Hi everyone-
I have a nexus 7 hspa and am posting because I am getting ready to travel with it and want have fun but be safe.
1. I use the voip feature with a paid version of grooveip and am trialling it as my primary phone. I purchased the hspa version because I didnt want to rely on being near accessible wifi to make a call. Currently when I am within wifi range, it works great, although there is not the spontaneity associated with walking around talking on a phone.. I recently activated a $30 tmobile data plan and am somewhat confused. Will grooveip automatically check for both data and wifi and move to whatever is available? When I activated the $30 dollar service I got a telephone number that I have added to google voice, yet all calls seem to keep going through my old google voice number. What am I missing?
2.I have security concerns about walking around with a gps signal open and plan to travel with both data and wifi off unless I need them. Can the n7 be tracked even when I turn off the wifi, location and data plan services? With a cellphone, if I had these concerns I would simply pull out the battery, that is not possible with this device.
3. I will be using a lot of public wifi. Is there a vpn app that will automatically engage when grooveip is enabled or will it always be a two-step process of opening the vpn then opening grooveip to flow through it?
3. How does this scenario change if I am in europe? I plan to get a european micro-sim when traveling.
Thanks for any info you can offer.
First off the N7 will not work on T-Mobile's $30/mo plan. T-Mobile is blocking the N7 IMEI's. Secondly yes when you go out of range of wifi grooveip will switch to the HSPA connection.

Hello,
last week i bought the nexus 4- SIM FREE.
when i put the sim card on the phone, the mobile phone didnt recognize the cellular network.
i didnt change anything on the phone (ROM or something)
what do to activate my phone?

p.s

my version : 4.2.1
As the title says... Mostly I need to know in general if I´d be able to use my 3G sim into a LTE phone. Need to know this because Google is probably releasing a Nexus 4 phone On Google I/O which is said to be TLE enabled and will have 32 gb for storage.
Honestly i only care about the 32 gigs because I live in Costa Rica, Central America and LTE is still not avaiable here, and who knows when will it arrive so I'll stay with my 3G sim card for an undefined time. It's important to mention that plans in my country do not restrict using my sim card on a certain phone, or viceversa, everything is totally unlocked (at least with my phone company) so I can do whatever i want concerning with switching betwween phones and stuff. So, If an LTE phone can read my 3g sim card i'd surely buying this awesome phone. I use A LOT my actual phone for music playback and that's why my focus is on the huge 32 gb storage.
So, again, can I use a 3G sim card on a LTE phone and have access to the normal phone functions (calls, messaging, 3G internet...)??????
I'm asking this because on my research on Internet I found people who say it does is possible and a lot who say it isn't...
Unless it is a CDMA device, a "3G" SIM will work fine, my current SIM card is "3G" (Straight Talk doesn't offer LTE) and the current Nexus 4 is capable of LTE...I'm not having any issues.
Now I've read sometimes older SIMs have issues with newer phones but I haven't had that issue.
so if there's a problem i'd just need to update my old 3g sim for a new one and that shoud work for any phone marketed as LTE or 4g???
Hi,
I am considering to buy a ptel simcard and use their Pay-as-you-go plan for data. I usually have a wifi connection at home/school so I would simply like GrooveIP to work for those times where I may need to make calls when I am away from a wifi network.
I am wondering if this is possible with the Nexus 4 and if the GrooveIP app (or similar alternative) will automatically know to only use wifi when wifi is available and only use data when wifi is not available. Or do I have to do something special with the Nexus 4 or GrooveIP app to enable that functionality?
Thank you

I don't know much about GroveIP but there are apps that let you setup the phone to do exactly what you want it to do. None of which I can't name.
