Issue after Repartitioning MTK6589 with Meteos
Hello Everyone,
After following the tuts found here I successfully repartition my 8gb MTK-6589 device. Only issue is that after I restored the the phone from the CWM backup I lost all my pictures!
After that I now have a 6,29gb Internal Storage and a 152mb Phone Storage. I have set the "Preferred Installation Location" to Internal Device Storage and default Write DIsk to SD Card.
The issue now is that some applications (Ex.: Instagram) tells me that I do not have enough space on the SD Card while I actually do.
Does anyone have any clue to what could be happening and why I could NOT recover my photos from the backup?
Thank you everyone in advance for any help.

Problem after repartitioning
Hi Everyone,
since I still don't have 10 posts and I am a newbie. Here it goes....
I have one of those China MTK6589 that resembles a Samsung S4 with 8gb internal capacity. I was able to repartition and set the Internal Device Storage to 6.26gb.
The problem is that after doing the mod above I have problems with the default save location on the device. I can't download anything (pictures, files, etc..) because is says "Error saving file". On instagram I can't use the camera because it says "Your SD Card is full" while there is more than 1gb of free space.
It seems that is looking for some kind of default save location and that location doesn't exist and start to give all these errors everywhere.
I already read about many solutions regarding the Instagram error message. None of them worked for me.
Any help is appreciated. Thank you very much in advance.

i have a same problem too, Successfully increase my internal storage but my external SD card can't detect by my android after using meteos mtk. Please any fix?

App working confirmation with lots of thanx
Dear Raja,
I was looking forward to use the app and finally got few hours to work.
I was on on PureXperia Z2 rom and i got stuck on boot logo after using the spanish version of app
Then i flashed q700i stock firmware, rooted it, updated recovery and then used the english version of the app. Its a common app for all 4gb/ 8 gb/ 16 gb phones. We just need to use the 4 gb option. I think the third one was partitioning to 2.5 gb.
Please don't use the 2.77 gb option. This thing bricks the phone. I think if i had used 2.5 gb option from the very beginning, i could have made it. Use the third 2.5 gb partition option, and u should be able to do it. reboot to recovery from the app only. i Wiped system/ formated data, wiped cache and dalvik cache for my success.
So,
Stock q700i firmware, root access, recovery, 2.5 gb or less options will surely succeed.
Thank you developer and porter.

If i took backup using cwm ... Nd followed ur procedure 2 increase app storege ... Nd then restore my backup using cwm ... Will it affect the partitioning i done ???

{Moderator Please Close Thread} Increase app partition size on internal storage

Basically i want more space to install apps on without switching to AOSP. Is there a way to increase the partition?
Create an A2SD partition on your SD card, and then install a ROM that supports A2SD. You don't need to be on an AOSP rom for this, but you must be rooted.
I created a thread about this a few weeks ago, and came back with the following;
Currently this is not available for eMMC partitioned phones. The Hero and Evo 4G had a different type of nand partition, and could be re-partitioned. I'm thinking once the Evo 3D gets rooted, and has S-OFF, we should see something like this, as there will be larger developer support. We could then piggy back off of their development.
Alright basically answers my question ill have moderator close thread especially if someone already made a thread

[Q] CM7.2 /media memory

I tried to search, but found no answer...
Yesterday I rooted my stock NC with MN5.08.20. I finally decided today to flash cm7.2 (which seems to be stable, judging after the forum discussions) to fully "unleash the FORCE" of my NC because I'm very angry: I cannot fully use the /data folder. I mean, I can put there my books/music, but I can't read them. So, I have only one issue not solved yet: will I be able to fully use the 5GB of internal storage with cm7.2? Is there a menu/option or a box to check which allows mounting the internal storage as visible and usable? Will I be able to read the books deposited there?
Or does the cm7.2 repartition the device with 1gb /data and 5gb /media? If not, please recommend me a ROM which does this thing.
Please answer me!
Thanks in advance!

CM7 does not re-partition anything. You are a little confused about /data and /media. All books and other media must be stored on the /media (emmc in CM terms) or on your sdcard. /data is only used for storing applications. So if you are using a root file manager to put books there, no application on any ROM will be able to read them.
The older Nook Colors had a different partition scheme than the newer ones. They had 1GB /data and 5GB /media. The newer ones have them reversed so that more application space and less media space is available. Dean Gibson has a thread in the general forum that tells you how to repartition the newer Nooks back to the old scheme. So, if you have the newer Nook and you want more internal media space go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14101197
thanks a lot
Already read the thread... But how do I do the MANDATORY REBOOT INTO RECOVERY? Do i have to reboot from cwm, let the device boot completely, open ROM Manager and select REBOOT INTO RECOVERY?
CWM is recovery. Some cwm activities require a reboot and you want to get back to cwm to do the next required step. That's why there is a reboot recovery command in cwm. Otherwise, just get to CWM and you are in recovery. Unless, of course, you are using TWRP, in which case, TWRP is recovery.

[Q] Partition Cleanup Question

After flashing a number of ROMs over the past year and a half or so, storage has been used up though the values don't add up to 16GB. Think that there are partitions consuming storage. Is there a way to safely clean this up?
Noob here trying to understand and appreciate your help

increase your system size to 380
Since you choose dataonext, the userdata partition in nand is not used, so can be tiny. You may as well use the nand for system, so 380mb is good.
Go higher with System size... My size is with native or direct install

Your English is fine. There won't be any problem with different ROMs using sd-ext as each ROM uses it's own folder on sd-ext.
However if you want to use just sd-ext2 for LS then add this to the sdcard: https://www.dropbox.com/s/duln5mz4rux8xkd/rdsfuncts.sh?dl=0 and install as NativeSD.
Stuck in MAGLDR
I installed my HD2 (after using my M7 for over a year now) and cannot get past the boot loader and get stuck at the GO GO GO!
Can anyone help me out.
Already started over again from scratch, but that doesn't seem to do the trick.
Maybe I missed something while it's been a while I have installed a new ROM on my HD2.
Can anyone maybe post a step by step instruction how to install this great ROM and the tools I have to use for it to work ?
Thnaks in advance
your Shortcomings
Hello my dear, I have installed your new Rom (LiquidSmooth KK_10_01_2015 v5.0) Although it has some great features but I faced some problems such as: start up, it takes along time to start. And wi-fi that doesn't open properly. Sometimes when i open settings the settings flash as well as the screen flashes. Also for closing recent apps the screen flashes. V5 sometimes freezes and there is no file explore.you cannot sign in to play store. Mobile network automatically turns off. Finally this version works very slowly in comparing to those Roms I tried before. I love this version, so I hope you to work on it a little more.

hello
I can read English moderately and poorly write so I had to rely on translate.google.de. Please for your understanding. A search is schwirig for me since I do not know the words I need.
My problem:
Once I have installed 1.5.2 CLK and the NAND partition've finished I go to recovery and then the picture comes with "Teamwin" (in blue), and again I'm not. What am I doing wrong? see Appendix
If I use 1.5.1.0 RC1 CLK I do come to install but after I confirmed the Accept butts and further geklicht stands there permanently "Please wait".

Yes for linking apps to sd depending on kernel support & selecting the correct mount scripts in link2sd
No for swap - you need a swap partition but swap is pointless anyway - There is no need for it & in my opinion you will get no benefit

Thanks for replying,
By the the time I was waiting for some reply I tried out Roehsoft Ram Expander for swap.
Is there any other way for increasing internal memory only?

Only by creating virtual storage on your sd card & linking apps to it - you already have an ext partition
If you mean ram then no - nothing that will make the phone suddenly super fast

If the ext partition was created properly & you using a kernel that supports it (don't ask me for suggestions) & you select the appropriate mount script in link2sd

I have set the default install location in link2sd to internal, confirmed using command
pm getInstallLocation
1(Internal)
But still certain apps get installed to the sdcard. If the apps get installed to the sdcard link2SD cannot auto link newly installed apps. In A2SD GUI it shows apps on internal. How do I force the apps to get installed on the internal storage?
Do I need to activate zipalign on boot in a2sdgui?

You can't force an app to install anywhere - only ask it to but if it's manifest states to install it somewhere that's where it will be installed
Of course you can decompile the apk & edit the manifest resign the apk & install it however you won't be able to update the app via playstore without uninstalling the modded version first
Best to just manually link what you want

Did the same and working properly but swap is not activating and auto deactivating cant extend ram by the method please suggest.

Either remove the mod if possible maybe a script in init.d or flash stock rom via odin & start again (see my firmware thread)
Also your kernel might not support this mod
Please don't ask me what does as I don't have your device
link2sd wont work
second partition wont mount automatically.
link2sd wont work after rebooting many times
