[Q] is it acceptable battery timing? - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay, some days back after getting KitKat update I noticed heavy drainage. So I stopped all apps and lowered the brightness putted phone for airplane mode ( still same setting). So it become a little better. So yesterday I downloaded greenify and greenified all apps... Then at night I charged phone and it was 45%. Closed wifi . Greenfied all apps remaining.. At morning 43% battery was left. (Its good). Then I started Modern combat blackout game l
, speed VPN (as pakiatani game server won't work), WiFi.. After playing for 45 mins I got 15% bettry warning.(it sux).. And now while writing I lost 2%. Is it acceptable? For KitKat?

Mostly I get from 10% to 4% after cca 2 minutes, then 2% and power off after 30sec. But not from 15%.

Is constantly killing apps bad for battery life?

I was wondering, if I constantly am killing running process and they are always reloading (voice input, settings, gmail, market, etc), will this drain my battery faster? I'm at 76% with light use from a full charge and the phones been unplugged for around 4 1/2 hours.
That seems normal. mine usually dies within 6 hours, with all settings off. i think i need a new one. under battery settings it says display used 67 % of my battery life and for display time on it says 28 minutes
I've got my display using 73% followed by live wallpaper with 6%.
I mean Display% being higher just means you were actively using your phone more... or you set your timeout too high.
I don't think the actual restarting of the apps uses more battery vs them just running in the background all the time. Unless for some reason they restart almost instantly and you are constantly mashing the kill all apps button then maybe?
As far as your phone dying in 6 hours, that does not sound right at all. Mine definitely goes quite a bit longer than 6 hours consistently. It is currently at 38% battery after 17 hours 24m, with display having used 46% with 55m24s on. Part of that was while it was full brightness when I was outside. I have been at work though so its largely been sitting on my desk. Even when I first got it and was playing with it a ton it went well over 6 hours on a charge.
Some people do seem to have problems with battery life and I can only assume there's a bunch of bad batteries out there, or they are really hammering it..
I used about 25% in 6 hours today from normal usage* and that's even after driving around for half an hour streaming last.fm over bluetooth via 3G.. Sync switched on, wifi off, twitdroid running in the background. The only special thing I have is the setcpu idle tweak.
* Fair bit of browsing, some twitter, the usual 'ooh look you have a google phone' impromptu demos..

Horrible Battery?

I had my phone charged last night and it died before i woke up in the morning. Now i just finished my charge almost 1 hour and 20 minutes ago, and its already 90 percent. And i have nothing but gtalk running, and a fresh install. Is this possible its a battery problem?
Did you check your battery use in the settings menu under phone status? It breaks down what used all your charge. If you already hooked it up and charged it full, it might be too late to tell since it wipes the last charge's results off.
Keep an eye on that and see if there is something in that list killing your battery more than normal. If everything in there looks ok, it's possible your battery is bad.
1hour 40 min since uplugged
Display 43% 8min
Cell Standby 28% 1h 38min
Phone Idle 19% 1h 30min
And now its 89 percent

That seems normal.
Maybe you have the problem where an SMS is received and the screen stay on? Some people were reporting that problem in another thread. That would definitely kill your battery if you received a message sometime during the night.
I'm at:
Display: 52% 37min
Cell Standby 15% 3hr
Beautiful Widgets 13%
Phone Idle 13% 2hr20min
Bah that sucks, is there a fix for that sms thing? I havent seem it once yet. So basically 10 percent in 2 hours of no use is normal? I thought this phone could be on idle for days. eh.

Sorry, I missed the part where you stated the battery is at 89%...
My phone, on the first charge, lasted 28 hours with moderate to heavy usage. It should last a lot longer if it's just in standby.
Do you think i should go tomorrow to get my battery replaced?

How long have you had your phone? I'd give it a few days of fully charging/discharging to break in the battery and go from there. But the phone should definitely last you at least all day with moderate use.
I have had it since the night of the 18th. Well i mean i can try that, but it feels like its not the case. I dont know... bah
Display 57%
Cell Standby 14%
Phone Idle 9%
Voice Calls 8%
Camera 5%
Android System 3%
Android OS 2%
Of course it doesn't talk about the 30minutes of Wifi, the 30 or so minutes of watching some videos. Nor does it address surfing the net for around 60minutes and various emails through out the day.
Uptime 17:26:38
Battery 32%
Last night around this same time I had around 20%.
So it does seem to be improving a bit. Of course I wont know until tomorrow's usage.
I unplugged it around 6am and now its 11:37pm. So its lasting as long as I have so far. When I hit the sack I'll plug it in and go for it again tomorrow. As long as it has power when I go to bed then we will get a long just fine.

Remove widgets, lower your brightness, turn off GPS, turn off WiFi, set your notifications to a later time, and close unused running programs and see if that helps.
Personally if I'm below 75% and I have access to a charger, I just keep it plugged in to charge.
I had a fresh reinstall last night, and i lost 32 percent battery from 11pm to 10am without using the phone but for maybe 5 text messages.
I dont think this is normal...

+1.... Welcome to the inconsistencies of Android.
- Widgets off
- GPS in the task bar on. It only fires it up when it needs it anyways
- Screen Brightness I don't know I think its set to around 17-25% or so
- I turn off all that haptic feedback nonsense
- 3G off
- Wifi off
- Regular background
- I'm not running exchange or anything fancy that constantly looks for email, good old Gmail.
At least thats what I have my phone set up for. "What do you mean you don't have 3G on. Edge is so slow" Yeah its so useful when your phone is laying there doing nothing.
Same i have all that crap turned off. But i get bad battery times. Im thinking of returning and getting my battery replaced today. It wont hurt
Install Battery Graph and see how fast your battery drains at certain time intervals. You can probably tell if it's an app or not causing the problem if you see a big drop in a short time interval.
I was having the same issues for the first three day however I spent A LOT of time playing and tweaking as this is my first Andriod... I would unplug it at 6am and by 8am (with little to no use) I was down to about 65% but I was still thinking about replacing it.
I did the GPS Update and it seems to have helped a TON... Dunno what the coloration is (maybe the bad GPS signal was constantly looking and draining the battery) but it seems to really help.
Hope this helps some.
What is the GPS Update? You mean the fix in the Development section?

Battery Statistics Thread

I thought we could have a thread posting battery statistics in the similar fashion to the one on the Captivate General forums.
1. Make sure your battery is properly calibrated.
2. Charge the phone overnight.
3. Start using your phone in the morning and do not charge throughout the day
4. When your battery hits ~5% record your statistics.
Here's my latest stats:
Still using K10H 256hz kernel on BUPJ8 Doc Rom v9
Have a black background with a black theme, brightness on Auto today.
5% battery after 14h4m
Display 95% with Time on 3h41m6s
Cell Standby 3%
Phone Idle 1%
In Battery History
Running 40.3% 5h40m without sleeping
Wifi on 16.7% 2h21m
I was using JuiceDefender till I got home and also had 3g disabled a majority of the day, however after I got home I wanted to see the drain without juicedefender on.
Drain without juicedefender when on 3g was pretty appalling, probably a % every 5-10 minutes.
Mostly just
-Bit of Tweetdeck
-Few minutes browsing web
-Texting
-Emails
-1 phone call (5 minutes)
-Read Ebooks for 30 minutes
-Played Dungeon Hunter for 23 minutes
-Music for 1hour
-Grocery list for 18 minutes while shopping

Vega using 40% battery while off over night??

As title, has anyone experienced this? If I shut it down when finished with (yes definitely shutting it down and not putting it into sleep mode).. I come back to it in the mornings, boot it up, once loaded it shows around 60% ish battery left...
I shut it down to save battery, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't use as much just being sat there!
40% overnight is massive, the battery icon on the status bar does not seem to update that quickly. Maybe its not really at full charge when you turn it off. I only lose 10-15% overnight in sleep mode.
Yeah!
I also lose up to 20% in sleep mode overnight.
But I experienced other strange battery behaviour.
Uptime 3 days:
- Day 1: 2h playing games (86% at complete shutdown)
- Day 2: 2h playing games (66% at complete shutdown)
- Day 3: at boot 20% --> WTH?!
So, yeah I also experienced this, but it was one-time only (yesterday). Or I wasn't paying attention because the tablet isn't mine.
Don't know!
EDIT: After 2 days (day 5) of complete shutdown the tablet was still working for 15 minutes with only 2% battery left. It's now being recharged.
I think the battery status is corrupt and needs to be reset.
I think it can be done with deletion of "/data/system/batterystats.bin" file (ROOT users only). --> I didn't try this method myself!

[Q] Call standby and WLAN eating battary

Hi, got my e7 2 days ago, updated to kk.
Everything working but call standby and WLAN eating battery, screen on for 3h 10min(consumed 10% of battery) and after 12h I have only
10% battery left. The phone wasn't awake while screen is on so it is probably not an app keeping the phone awake..
So .. wifi is always on(on battery stats, but I turned if off for 3h) and even so it shouldn't consume 28% of battery.
Standby consumed 29% of battery! But always got full signal and talked just for 10-15min.
I've done root with 360root and remove(suspend)some apps with 360root.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
