Hi, I got S4 I bought it in UK 3 (three) network.
I am trying figure out what firmvare I am on, is it stock or three modified.
And if I can flash phone to any better never, so I can get updates faster.
Phone is simlock free
GT-I9505
4.2.2
I9505XXUAMDM
I uploaded screenshot from about menu.
Phone region in Kies says BTU
What I found and I am confused is this :
http://droidviews.com/2013/the-latest-xxubmea-firmware-update-for-galaxy-s4-gt-i9505-brings-major-improvements-features/
On that webpage its "United Kingdom (H3G): H3G-I9505XXUBMEA-20130601113653.zip"
where H3G is three network however I cant update by OTA or Kies, mine says I got latest.
So would it be safe and worth it to flash to "United Kingdom (H3G): H3G-I9505XXUBMEA-20130601113653.zip" ?
or better wait for OTA update, may b when three release it??
the other thing is, I dont see H3G-I9505XXUBMEA-20130601113653 on http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9505&details=Galaxy_S_4
why it is not on there ?? official samsung firmvare web?
Please someone explain me, and advice on that (H3G): H3G-I9505XXUBMEA-20130601113653.zip
safe? better then my current? is it official? and why I not get it, if my phone on three?
Thank You
Kris
Right Kris your phone is simfree and it's currently got the latest firmware for simfree S4's in the UK
3's early S4's came simfree before they brought out their own lock branded one's, you won't get updates from 3 but from Samsung which will take longer to get.
3 have their own branded firmware which is MEA, which is currently the latest firmware out atm in this country.
If you want to get updates quickly but don't want to root or go down the custom road then you need to flash your S4 with 3's branded firmware like I've done, your S4 will still be unlocked, so no need to worry on that front.
But remember once you've flashed 3's firmware you need to wipe & reset so that it installs 3's csc so you can get updates from both 3 themselves via ota, or by using Kies.
This is a link to the latest S4's 3 firmware, if you wish to flash using Odin.
http://samsung-updates.com/details/10625/Galaxy_S_4_Snapdragon/GT-I9505/H3G/I9505XXUBMEA.html
CSC?
thx for reply
so u posted link to the same firmvare ver. as I did in first post H3G...
ok I understand
however I thought Its like samsung updates comes out first, then networks take them and modify and release, means samsung sahould be before three updates? why other way around?
so is it worth to update it? or I should wait
is it that firmvare three branded?
my other question is, what if I change CSC code, lets say to POLAND
then I get OTA update after reboot?
like they says in this article :
http://droidviews.com/2012/how-to-change-csc-in-samsung-galaxy-phones/
thx

Samsung have this tendency to update network handsets well before simfree ones, just the way they work to keep the networks happy in the UK at least.
Yes that 3 firmware is branded what you get is the 3 logo at bootup & you get 3 apps that it.
If you mix CSC ie change the BTU or H3G csc to polish csc you won't get any updates at all, as your in the UK your better off using BTU which you currently have or H3G which you get if you flash 3's firmware, and just change the language to polish, if you want Polish updates then your gonna have to flash a full Polish firmware.
As for updating or just sit and wait well that upto you
So I think best option is just stay on what I am on now, and just wait bit longer...
the one more option I thinki about is may b flash unbranded firmvare like polish or german if available
like from: http://droidviews.com/2013/the-latest-xxubmea-firmware-update-for-galaxy-s4-gt-i9505-brings-major-improvements-features/
not sure they unbranded
Thank You for explanation...

Yeah if you not to sure on flashing then it best to stay with what you have now and just wait for the MEA update from Samsung which should be due soon, the only reason I flashed 3's branded firmware is because i'm too bloody impatient.

So,I bought a new s4 octa today. All is great ranging from the bright screen to the nice 22 gigs available. But I'm having some kind of problem.I don't get any updates via OTA,also I tried using KIES and it says I have non-Samsung device and that it has latest firmware.
The baseband version is i9500XXUAMDK and the build number is JDQ39.I9500XXUAMDK.
I don't have heating problems as I topped 40 Celsius with 32 in standby or just playing with it,but how do I update?

In what country do you live? Also install CPU Z from Play, that should give you info about the phone`s hard- and software. Non-Samsung device but still the latest software?

I'm so sorry,I was mistaken when saying that it's non-Samsung.It's recognized as GT-i9500 so no problem with recognition.I live in Romania. Are you sure that what I have is the latest software? If not,why don't I receive any updates?
EDIT: I used CPU-Z from the beginning, and I have 32-34 when just browsing or watching vids and it gets up to 40 in gaming.

The I9500 is not beeing officialy sold in Romania, the I9505 is. It is probably an imported device from another country bro. There is no Romanian I9500 rom available on Sammobile, only I9505 roms. The MDK is quite an old rom. You could flash the Russian I9500XXUBMG1 rom with Odin for instance. There aren`t many Euro roms available as far as i can see, the Russian SER is the only one next to the German MBC rom http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=17177. Check it on Sammobile yourself http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=GT-I9500&pcode=SER#firmware. What was the language when the phone booted up the first time?

You flash official firmware in this case, so no. In what language did the phone boot up the first time, German, Russian or another language? BTW look in item 1 of my signature for how to use Odin.

I highly recommend that you find out more about your version before starting flashing other firmware. Look at the box, it should give you a hint. Also, find out the CSC (see in Kies, somewhere in the files). After you know your CSC, check sammobile and download your existing firmware just for backup so you can always flash it back to original if needed.
Then look if there is any newer firmware for your CSC. If not, you can flash a newer one for i9500 with a different country code.
If you're planning on rooting, you'll lose warranty, but can always turn back to stock if you need the warranty, triangle away and stock firmware will help.
However, if you root it, first thing you should make an EFS backup.
Edit: Oh wait, triangle away is not available at the moment for i9500... Forgot about that.

I found out that my i9500 is designed for South Africa(XFA).Now,when I look on sammobile,I see that the latest firmware for me is MDK(April) and that's the one I have. How the hell the latest firmware for South Africa is the April one when all the other countries have newer ones(from july and sometimes august)?!?

You can flash a newer firmware from another region, or you should consider the benefits (and the risks) of custom roms.
Hello,
I bought Note 4 (Model: SM-N910F) in Germany, and now running android version
4.4.4, I want to upgrade to the official version 5.0.1 from website:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-N910F/
Which version is recommended from the website?
Debating between both versions: Germany or Unknown, Which version is preferable?
And do need root to flash a new version?
I am interested in a clean system with no additives/applications (in English) with good battery time.
Thanks,
idan.

You don't need root to flash a new firmware.
I would recommend wiping the phone to factory status before you flash a new firmware.
N910F will use the BOC3 software.
This should work okay.
/N910FXXU1BOC3_N910FVFG1BOC2_VDC/
Yes of course, I will implement to make a factory reset before flash new firmware.
BOC3 = Unknown version.
I understand this rom from Dutch, It will be ok? or wait to OTA upgrade?
After upgrade system to 5.0.1, my device will receive OTA?

I upgraded a few days ago from N910FXXU1ANK4 ATO 4.4.4 to N910FXXU1BOC3 Unknown and I can say that it's working nicely. Had issues when updating as I was first trying to flash a BOC3 version from RO Vodafone, but had issues while flashing (Volume size too big, Odin invalid ext4 image). I was able to upgrade to N910FXXU1BOC3 Unknown without any issues.
In case you get into trouble while upgrading, you can do a emergency re-initialization from Kies3, based on your model number and serial number (on device, under the battery).
If you are flashing a different region ROM, make sure you do not have Reactivation lock as it will block your attempt to flash a new ROM.
@lolozaur thanks about information.
Version N910FXXU1BOC3 (5.0.1) will include touchwiz interface?
I prefer a clean system like nexus version, can you recommend a convenient interface (launcher)?

Don't have much information regarding the Note 4 ROM community as i just got the device one week ago.
But, if you want to keep your Knox counter set to 0 and have your warranty available, you have to flash only stock ROMs from good sources (i prefer sammobile).
I personally like the new Touchwiz on 5.0.1 and I think it will keep getting better when we'll get the S6 Touchwiz in future updates. I would not flash an AOSP ROM on the Note 4.
Not sure about this but if you want an AOSP OS (nexus version) you will be losing some of the functionality of the Note 4, such as the S-Pen and S-Note integration and maybe the S-Health and Heartrate sensor.
@lolozaur
Flash of new version 5.0.1 can lock again device for locked region?
The lock was released by call (5 minutes) with local microsim.
Thanks.

It should not lock. My device is also used outside the unlock region and I did not have any troubles after the upgrade.
I am flashing 5.0.1 and looks good! even touchwiz interface looks clean.
Thank you for your kind assistance.
Hello Everybody,
I bought a Yotaphone 2 model YD206 at Gearbest. The Smartphone arrived with Android KitKat, I used for some time and it was OK, but after updating to Android 5 ROM CN it started getting too hot while casual using such as Facebook, E-mail, Whatsapp.
Is that normal? I expected that it could get warm only while playing games or using GPS, but for my surprise it is getting too hot only for normal usage.
Is there anyone who get the same problem? If I change to another rom such RU or EU can solve the problem?
I already root the phone and also installed xposed together with L Speed to see if the problem persists, but it is still happening.
Thanks in advance!
Is there a chinese version of Lollipop?
Anyway, I see many people like you complaining about the phone getting hot after an upgrade. My guess is that its related to the baseband version. Since your model is YD206, are you sure you have flashed the correct chinese baseband with this so-called CN firmware (isn't it HK? Isn't it for YD201 models?)?

Yes, the model before updating was YD206 CN and after flashing to Android 5 it changed to YD201 HK 1.124d.
Is there a CN firmware running Android 5? I only found HK. Maybe this is the reason it is getting hot, the baseband / radio from these versions are different, can it be?
Yeah, I would definitely flash the YD206 baseband.
In this thread here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/yotaphone-one/help/guide-everything-to-yotaphone2-t3547194), there's a revamped version of the YotaFlasher attached to the first post. With this one, it is possible to select what to flash individually to the device, i.e, whether system+radio+userdata, or only system, or only radio etc. With that you can choose to flash only the radio files from YD206 firmwares.
Use this reworked YotaFlasher, download any chinese Kitkat firmware and make sure to allow to flash only the radio binaries when prompted.
