[Q] UK warranty with G900FZHUANI2 (Hong Kong) firmware? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just bought a Samsung S5 from an Amazon UK seller, advertised as a G900F. It appears to be a genuine G900F but the baseband versions is G900FZHUANI2 which, based on this thread and a search on sammobile for "G900F", means it's a Hong Kong variant:
Model: SM-G900F
Model name: GALAXY S5
Country: Hong Kong
Version: Android 4.4.2
Changelist: 2741370
Build date: Wed, 10 Sep 2014 07:33:51 +0000
Product Code: TGY
PDA: G900FZHU1ANI2
CSC: G900FZZH1ANI2
MODEM: G900FZHU1ANI2
Everything appears to be in English other than the default homepage for the Internet app being Samsung Hong Kong.
Does this mean I'm not covered by the UK warranty?
What difference would this make to the features/performance?

It means you don`t have warranty in the UK, only in Hong Kong. If its a genuine G900F you might as well flash the BTU rom with Odin 3.09 for a more suitable modem and the BTU CSC file so you`ll be able to receive and install the coming BTU updates.

Thanks. Would doing that help with the warranty or would it just make the phone more suitable for UK use?

It will be more suited for the UK. Flash the latest BTU rom with Odin 3.09 and after that do a data factory reset in recovery. After that boot up and setup the phone. Type in the dialer *#1234#, and if the CSC doesn`t show the BTU csc file then reflash the BTU rom again with Odin but you don`t have to wipe afterwards. This should change the CSC to UK BTU. Warranty in the UK is still not valid as it didn`t originate as a UK device.

Grey Import Region Change

Hi
My friend just purchased a Note 3 from an Amazon reseller, and it turns out to be a grey import. He asked me to take a look to see if the phone was legit as it had Chinese language by default. I quickly discovered that although the box says 'Made in France', the device has arrive with Hong Kong firmware on it (TGY) as follows...
Baseband version: N9005XXUBMI5
Build number: JSS15J.N9005ZHUBMI7
AP: N9005ZHUBMI7
CP: N9005XXUBMI5
CSC: N9005ZZHBMI7
Current firmware version: PDA:MI7 PHONE:MI5 CSC:MI7 (TGY)
Latest firmware version: PDA:MK1 PHONE:MJ94 CSC:MK1 (TGY)
Has anyone successfully manage to flash the firmware/baseband and changed the CSC to UK unbranded (BTU) without bricking the phone. I have suggested he returns it as he'll trip the KNOX flag doing this, and Samsung don't entertain the warranty if its from another region.
Can it be done?
**Update: I sold my S4 for a Z1 due to the impending KNOX/Activation lockout stuff Samsung were introducing

When you click on a firmware over at samfirmware it should tell you.
Edit:
Sorry if you mean you want to check your phone's region you can download "phone info" from google play.

You`re phone is from Hong Kong appearently According to users http://www.sammobile.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15727), look on Sammobile for Hong Kong roms. This also seems to work for some users http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/guide-how-to-reinstall-stock-firmware-t1978840.

Type in dialpad #*1234# and post what you see, where did you buy the phone and where do you live? Have you looked on www.sammobile.com/firmwares/2/ for firmwares?
Kuwait and I got it from a mobile shop here

Firmwares Saudi Arabia unlocked KSA http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=SM-N9005&pcode=KSA#firmware or STC (carrier version) http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=SM-N9005&pcode=XFU#firmware. Download and flash with Odin 3.07 in downloadmode (will not trigger KNOX warranty).

Nope, the info from #*1234# is almost useless because OJV is a Multi-csc, it includes the following 3 csc: XSI, KSA and XFM.
(you can get this info by open Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app, select menu --> CSC Lookup and search for the 'OJV')
So you don't know what exactly your csc is.
Instead, in your previous post, you know exactly your csc is XSI. So the download link for your firmware on sammobile is:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=SM-N9005&pcode=XSI#firmware

If the phone is unlocked he just has to flash the latest Saudi KSA rom, but apart from the CSC file they are probably identical

Yes I see, but I think the OP will prefer flashing the firmware from the 'Original' CSC
Why can't I do it OTA? If so..

You don't need to find any firmware for your country, as long as it is i9505 , you can just flash it!

My bad.....actualy they all have the same changelist number they probably are about the same.
EDIT: sorry BE Firmware? you mean if you can flash black edition in a non black edition , i think so , the device is the same only change is the outside , software is the same only change a few things , wallpapers , ringtones....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2687769
You can flash Black Edition firmware on a Black Mist device. The only difference between the two is, as mentioned, some added wallpapers and ringtones.

Why you wouldn't use the one from Hong Kong I don't know (since yours was originally from HK)... but maybe the rom you downloaded is corrupt or not fully downloaded.
Did you check md5? Try to download it again.. or I would suggest you go to sammobile.com and get official HK lollipop version.
