I asked for some help from lemonsqueeze in getting a fake ethernet module for the Shield Tablet to use. This way the native Nvidia gamestream app would allow for 1080p 60fps over WiFi (normally only allows this if using a wired ethernet adapter). You of course need to be rooted and have xposed installer already installed. Here it is...
Download and install FakeEtherConnection.apk,
Enable the module in Xposed Installer,
Reboot,
Turn on FakeEtherConnection, select the apps and click save.
Now apps should think they're on ethernet.
If it doesn't work try rebooting.
You can test with this little app to make sure it's working:
TestWifi.apk
Enable it in FakeEtherConnection, then it should display "Ethernet" under "Network Type" even if you're on wifi.
If you want to test multiple times you have to close it and open it again, it doesn't update itself.
Let me know how it goes

I'll give it a try.
Thanks for sharing.
Seems interesting, will try and report back. Playing Civ at such a low resolution over game streaming makes it hard to read text.
Works well. Thanks.

@Spiteful Monkey Hey there, man.
I tried this but i'm getting an error, hope you can help me.
Facts: I'm on a 2.4Ghz network. (Speed is good)
I live outside USA but GRID does works for me without this trick.
Despite i'm getting this alarm, i'm able to load a game, but for short time, the connection crash constantly. Any suggestions?

This grid has nothing to do with this thread.
With that said, fixing latency is impossible. Latency is a factor of many things but the biggest one when distance is at play is the speed of light...that is a constant in networking (the little o of networking) that can't be changed.
But.... Some times you just have to change a variable and the conditions change the affect of the constant.
For 1 wireless networks have higher latency than wired. Try using Ethernet. And see if it helps. Probably not enough..
2 if they are using an edgecach of any sort DNS plays a factor as it will change which edge server to serve from. Ideally you want one closeR to where your located. But change your DNS servers to ones closer to the source or at least one in the U.S.. It may or may not help. It could also affect your routes positively but less likely as your ISP will typically dictate that.
Your screwed for the most part for GRID....
GRID has nothing to do with this thread? LoL!

Grid and gamestream are 2 totally different things.
GRID is an implementation of gamestream running from Nvidia servers, while Gamestream relies on your local/personal hardware. If your ISP/location/routes aren't fast and stable to the Nvidia datacenter, no amount of tweaking on the clientside will make a difference.

Irrelevant, both of them can take advantage of the trick. After apply it for GRID, the graphics quality was boosted.

I really want to try Skyrim on shield.
Is it possible to fake the ehernet without xposed. .
I want to uprgrade to lollipop, but xposed do not work on lollipops art.
I know there a apps like limelight, but i want to use gamestream woth 1080p.
I'm on rooted Lollipop. Will Xpose update in order to make this work or is there another option in order to stream at 1080p 60fps?

i installed lightspeed and flex rom both.
at present i more like flex rom because i feel maybe it is more stable and more quick(after start, a little quicker)
both have the following problems:
1.both can't find hidden ssid wifi. i have to show ssid.and i feel the conncetion with wifi is weeker than android 3.2 because away from the same distance, the signal is weaker.
2.in both's email, if you want to show combined view, the email app stops.
3.both can't use facebook and twitter app although i can login in on brower. flex rom can use youtube app and till i un-install lightspeed, it can't.
4.in somes app, such as nfs etc, the backward arrow response slowly, needing waiting the app completes its own process and then you can quit by backward arrow.this arrow response more quick in android
Add Network in Wifi settings to connect to network not broadcasting SSID.

Facebook app from market works just fine on flex roms, I think you need to learn how to clean tablet.
You got to know flashing roms can give corrupted data.
Leftovers from previous rom.
Result conflicts and bad running rom.
I didn't try twitter because I hate it.
I could care less if someone just wiped his a$$ and want to twitter about it.

Actually the problem is a little deeper than that for me. But good advice still.
I can get my Iconia to connect to a hidden network on the first attempt. What I mean by first attempt is that about the only time I can connect is immediately after setting my wifi to not broadcast ssid, then adding the network as you've shown. It connects the first time just fine. But once I roam out of range and come back there is a less than 50/50 chance that my tab will "find" my network again. I just gave up after leaving the house a few times. I don't really care if my ssid is seen anyway. My password's a good, meaningless string of numbers and letters. I doubt that even the neighbors kid can bust through that one...
To all Brighthouse Network subscribers, a work around has been found to get the BHN app to work on our rooted Transformers. (* This may also work for other tablets and other cable providers apps.*) For anybody who's wondering what I'm talking about, Brighthouse Networks blocked access to their Live TV streaming app for rooted users, even if you're signed in and on your home network. Well the people who are TWC subscribers are seeing the same thing with their Live TV streaming app on rooted devices, but were able to find a fix that works for our BHN app also. Follow the link, follow the step by step instructions and give the guys thanks if it works for you. I'm posting this because I see there were a lot of Brighthouse users who were leaving comments in the Play Store, that this app wasn't working on their Transformers. I'm running EOS JellyBean build #55 and can confirm that its working http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29472657&postcount=376 and running great.
P.S...You will also have to disable USB Debugging before you can start watching your shows, but you will be prompted on when to do it.
To anyone who already checked the link out, I'm sorry, as I thought the link was going to the step by step post. Anyway, it has been updated to go to the correct location. Check it out so you can start watching the Olympics on your tab. :good:

Revised:
Download file explorer from Play-store, go into settings, select show hidden files,go back
scroll down to bottom of main menu uncovering root options, select root settings,
check root explorer first option. Give it a second for warning to pop up, then select root up and then
mount file system.
Go to system apps, then long press superuser.apk change to su.apk save or hit back arrow it will ask
you to save. Get out of app folder, back to system folder at the bottom is the build.prop long press the file, up at the top
hit open as, select text option, open with ES note editor, go down to ro.build.tags="buildtype" delete everything after
= leave it blank, exit/save , turn off usb debugging in settings developer option ,REBOOT , then reload app. I am using EOS JZO54K Nightly 81 with stock kernel 2.6.39.4-Eos3
this by far streams the broadcasts the best, I have tried many kernel and roms and by far this works the best for me. TF101B90 16G.
Don't forget to hit thanks if this helped.
OLD:
Renamed superuser.apk to su.apk.
Uninstalled the twc app.
Changed the build.prop test-keys setting to blank.
Turn off debugging in settings > developer options.
Reboot.
Reinstalled the twc app.
This works perfect for me on my nexus 7, stock-rooted. Thanks!!!!
Here is a link to the apk already working on rooted devices. Have on EOS4 tf101 and my LGOG.

I'm looking for an application that allows force-closing running applications, as its running down the memory and making the performance slow down. I'm not a huge fan of slowdowns, if anyone know of such a app, please type in it the comments below.
Thanks!
..
Thanks you for providing me this download link. I will try this out when I get home tonight, looking forward to seeing it work. Why don't you submit it to the Google Play Store?
..
id be willing to try this when i get home as well. what app did you modify exactly? id like to look into it on the play store before i get home and install yours on my shield.
..
Hey man so i got to play with this a little bit last night. Thanks so much! It will definitely help when im testing out new apps and troubleshooting issues. But to be honest, using the app last night made me realize something......
The shield is pretty damn good at managing ram on its own. With no easy way to force close apps prior to the app you provided, I just let shield take care of it, assuming all my running apps that i didnt force close on my own, were using up all my free ram available. But last night when using your app, each time i tried to "kill all" i only got a meager 100-200MB free, at best. Even with all the apps running, i still had like over 1gig, usually 1.5, available. its awesome.
But yeah, still keeping this app for messing with stuff. Thanks.
Awesome, I'll give it a try too. It always annoys the hell out of me that I have to go into settings then apps then go through all my installed apps just to kill a frozen app. It would be awesome if someone could implement the "hold back to kill app" that is in most ROMs.

The file for your modified app is no longer working, any chance of reuploading this please?
2017 and still no android Nokia until "autumn" in UK for my Sony TV to fix this.
Thanks

I've noticed during the time I've had my Nexus Player that random things have been connected to its Bluetooth, like my neighbor's phone (by accident). I've checked the discoverable items in my area, and the Nexus Player always shows up. I want to make it not discoverable, in case someone with malicious intent connects to it through Bluetooth and installs malware or something, but I can't find any option on the device or any answers anywhere on Google or anywhere else on the internet.
Any help would be appreciated!
I've been searching for an answer for this for a good while now. Not only can someone steal valuable info, they have access to your internet. I really am annoyed by this. If you find anything, please let me know.

I was looking into the same thing a few months ago (don't know how I just saw this thread). The only thing you can do on a stock rom without root is to turn the bluetooth and/or wifi off. The apis that usually would stop discover mode ..... well they don't work.

I have a pair of bluetooth headphones that won't let me play audio from my phone because the Nexus Player always takes priority. Always being discoverable is super annoying. I wish there was a way to turn that off.

Works on Nexus Player
Could you please upload it somewhere else, I'm trying to download on my phone but it won't let me unless I install the mega app, thank you, I've been looking for this for a while, I have a sneaky neighbor that has been connecting to my nexus players for a while, I keep deleting the pairing but it appears again and again...

Here's a copy/paste from my post on the nvidia forums.
I got tired of trying to find a way to turn off bluetooth, so I made my own app.
It's nothing fancy. I did not add leanback launcher intent, so it needs to be launched from settings or a 3rd party launcher like sideload launcher. Click the app once, it will turn off bluetooth. Click the app again, it will turn on bluetooth. There is no GUI or menu or anything. It's a very basic app, but it works...
I tested it on my own shield without issues. I take no responsibility if you run in to issues with the app though. Use at your own risk.
If you find the app useful, let me know. I'll create my own thread for it. I may even add more features if I'm not lazy, and if there's a demand for it...

Thanks for this. I found this through a quick search on Google. Have you made a thread or any updates on this?

I'm guessing this stunning 4k hdr super phone is going to bring in a lot of new users to this Xperia user base for now at least.
Here's how I use my Xperia phones and it really useful little tips.
1. Install the fast adb installer and use the command
adb shell settings put global policy_control immersive.full=*
This gets rid of the navigation bar and notification bar to give you all screen. You can. (Still bring them back by swiping from bottom as well dw) also null instead of full brings it back altogether.
2. Now obviously you still need your home back and recents buttons. For this we install. "simple pie" from the play store amazing app. Your buttons can appear by swiping from any place of the screen. Useful for 1 hand usage.
3. Chrome address bar below -
Download Google Chrome beta
chrome://flags
enter this in your address bar
Search for "chrome home " and enable it
This helps too on large devices not enough people know about it.
4. Amazon prime and download the amazon video app through the Amazon app and you can watch actual 4k hdr content in 4k hdr. You can also download it offline in 4k hdr and watch it later.
Stunning 4k hdr content obviously YouTube also has stuff but Amazon is where your movies and shows are at.
5. Ds4+ Remote Play
Seemeless connection to your ds4 controller settings/deviceconnection/dualshock 4 and remote play with you ps4 is awesome too.
Moonlight will let you play pc games also if you have a nvidia gpu.
6. Vr testing - Experimental yet but vrtv app on play store played one of my 4k movie I had downloaded and it looked extremely clear although I'm still uncertain only tested a bit because I was afraid off the cheap cardboard vr scratching my brand new device. Still experimenting this...
7. Some Xperia themes are fantastic just look for them on the play store or find free ones that Xperia lounge always seem to give away.
I think for now thats all that I can think of. If any one knows any more drop comment below. My advice is to try the top 3 suggestions I use it all the time it made one hand usage with the x compact godlike. Although with this device it's a little harder though it's still very very usefull.
Coming from Windows, I hated the fact the url bar was at the top in chrome. Thank you!
Sent from my G8141 using Tapatalk
Upon further investigation on finding a vr player to play files in 4k it seems "Moon VR Player" is the one to have.
Just watched a 4k movie and the quality was amazing my only gripe is the damnmed bobovr cardboard vr headset I have its so damn uncomfortable on the nose.
