So I sold my Note and decided to come back to my i9100. The i9100 now feels like a cheap toy. Before I had the note, I thought i9100 was BIG. LOL
Your mum.
is the galaxy note really that good? Considering it being my next handset but it's a little too big to be used as a daily device

I got rid of it because it was too big. But the build quality of that thing is VERY GOOD. It's heavy and doesnt feel plasticky. I wish SII's build quality was exactly like the note, but lets hope the SIII will have similar build quality to the nOtes, and it's heavy, i don't like super light phones.
I know what you mean by build quality,I previously had a 4S but the screen was a little too small for my liking. S2 is perfect but never had the pleasure to try out a galaxy note. How did you find the user experience like battery life and camera quality?

User experience is the same; everything is just bigger and there are 5 rows of icons instead of 4 which is a BIG PLUS. Also, the battery life is fantastic. I can easily go an entire day and night and still have 30% battery left the next day in the morning. Even though camera is the same, pictures look MUCH better on the note. The only reason I sold it was because it was just too big; it fits in the pocket just fine, but you are forced to use the other hand every time you want to reach the other side of the screen or the very top of the screen. If it was a bit smaller, say 4.7, that's be perfect... and that's what the S III is might be, so I cant wait for it. I'm really hoping it has the same form factor as the note or better and I want it to be heavy like the note.
This type of post would be more appropriate for maybe your blog, not a development website.

I just ordered the international SGS3 and have been a little worried that it would be a step back as far as the camera is concerned. The below CNET UK article is the most definitive resource I have found so far. Take a look and let me know what you think!

The problem with comparison test like that those photos are taken without any type of adjustment to the camera such as white balance etc. I'm sure anyone of those cameras could be tweaked slightly and the results of the test could go on and on.
To each his own, it's still a phone first.

EVERYONE has an opinion...even though I prefer the Android to Apple..( I've used both S3 and 4S..I find the Android more intuitive..personal choice though). I have S3 and happy to have it.One of the most interesting features I found in my new Galaxy S3 was the ability to create your own custom vibration notification.

Your reply has nothing to do with cameras (the topic of this thread) and you re-opened a super old thread.

Stock Android. Updates directly from Google as they become available.
Both are good... Depends on what you want. Personally I get bored with the plastic build of Samsung after a while. Only thing you will miss from Note 2 is the awesome camera and bigger battery. Camera is average in Nexus 4. Nexus rules them all with latest software and best xda dev support.

There are cool features from Touchwiz which you may miss. The screenshare to Xbox 360 is pretty freakin cool.
What about the screen size change for you? Seems like most Note2 owner swears they can never downsize to anything smaller after using one. Personally, the biggest reason I'd switch from a Note 2 to a Nexus 4 is for cost savings. As stated, the N4's camera and battery life are certainly mediocre in comparison to the Note 2's.
i had the note 2, and my buddy still has it, which helps or else i would probably remember the note a little better than it actually is, that being said i lke my nexus 4 more, a larger screen is nice but for as long as the resolution is the same i dont mind it being on the smaller screen. and yeah its a little washed out and battery and cam lack, BUT after that i enjoy the feel, the onscreen buttons, jb 4.2, the dev community, Google wallet! and keeping track of less features often makes me use my phone in a more efficient manner, i think googles nexus program is perfect for learning to balance total customization and you 4X4 iphone screen, TW gets a little complicated though i understand it well. also coming from the note i didnt find the N4 to be washed out as much as i thought the note was way too vivid, just my 0.02 both are favs to me
The Note 2 is way more expensive... At least get the 16Gb version
Does note 2 use the same size sim card as nexus 4?

Hello! I know that its common knowledge that the nexus devices don't have the best looking screens, and that flashing a custom kernel can fix these issues for the most part, BUT even still, my screen just doesn't look as good as say my friends iPod Touch or another ones S4. I've tried GalaxyS4 colors (preset in FKU) and I'm using obsanity for now, but its still just not very good. Any tips?

You can try bundi22 iphone 5 color or Pa halfbreed.
It'll never equal an Apple device, those simply have the best screens in the market. As for the S4,it uses a completely different display technology. The Nexus 4 uses an LCD screen while the S4 uses AMOLED. And there is only so much you can change with kernel settings.
Sent from my Nexus 4, want to know my current project? Check http://team-fun.eu
The Samsung Galaxies have notoriously inaccurate colours, they are really over saturated to make the screen look more vivid. N4's colours are actually pretty accurate, for a cell phone, when I measured them with a calibration tool.
People are just used to unrealistic, over saturated, crap I guess. iPhone 5 is pretty damn nice however: good gamut and balance. But, the Samsung amoled is just cheesy crap.

Try flashing a kernel that allows you to change color profiles or your gamma settings. Then you can play with it and see which profiles you like and adjust them however you want
I've been using my new S7. It's beautiful and elegant. The design is very polished and it feels great in the hands.
Performance is great and battery life is great.
And yet I MISS MY OLD NOTE 5 :crying: .
So if you're thinking about switching, try and think about what you will really need, because it's really hard to switch from a Note.
I can understand. Not sure what one would miss apart from the Spen.

I lost my Note 3 in train journey some 2 years ago. They i purchased S5 for some change. Then i realized sonething missing and after 1 month of usage i again purchased Note 3 that time. Samsung Note series is the beast.
well i had the s7 edge for 2 days after i returnd it, coming from note 4 and now i have a note 5 and i like it more than the s7, bigger screen with better colors, better audio, speakers, spen, my avengers themes, etc.
I've played with both S7 versions and neither feel like an upgrade at all. Quite the contrary, actually. Downsized screen, no S Pen, and the extra power they have compared to the Note doesn't translate to a UX improvement that's worth losing what the Note has. This thing is plenty fast. I'll wait for the Note 6.
I was thinking of getting the s7 edge but after reading your post I'll wait till the note 6 comes out. Cheers.

I switched from the Note 5 too. Unlike you I'm glad I dumped that piece of rubbish. Horrible battery life and really slow updates, had it been around it would have JUST started the Marshmallow rollout, its first update in SIX months.

Only the SPen, yet now that I have my SPen again, I love it.
SPen means having "Smart Selection", "Screen Capture", "Screen Writing" and all of the Air Commands.
I use SPen quite a bit, so it's good to have it back again.
