You must first flash the cm11 kernel that contains CWM6 either through cwm5 (if you are on stock kernel and have stock recovery flash a temporary CWM zip) or use the odin version and flash via odin (put it in pda section) - links on rom thread
Once that has been done reboot to recovery and make sure you have cwm6
Then format system data and cache
Mount system data cache
Flash rom zip

That kernel is an unofficial kernel not from the dev of cm11 for this phone so no support from
him can be given if you use that one but you can if you want
The official kernel with cmw6 is located here - the zip is for flashing via CWM and the tar is for odin - the choice is yours
https://www.mediafire.com/folder/bj3a19sdm5yre/totoro
The rom is located
http://download.androidarmv6.org/_builds/totoro/
And the rom thread with instructions is located
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2766229
If done wrong you can soft brick your phone but can be sorted with a simple flashing of stock rom via odin - link to my firmware thread is in my signature
I install CM11 over H9 directly by first flashing ClockworkMod v6.0.5.3 & then latest full OTA build for totoro (androidarmv6.org)
CM11 have its own kernel.
thank you very very much marcus smith... i installed it yesaterday,,, everything is fine. flashing went successful.

I've the CriskeloROM ICS ZCLP6 and I'm afraid of brick my phone. So I want to go back to GB but I don't know if I'm with i9220 kernel or not or one safe way to go back to GB.
A good tutorial will be good to me and to the others. I know that anything is safe because we don't know the real cause of this, but...
EDIT: There's my phone info:
Model number: GT-N7000

So I'm not understanding something. This is a leaked ics, so this is a repack that is dangerous and not recommended to use CWM. So if I flash that ZIP's from CWM don't I'm on the way to brick the phone?

you're wrong, CWM problem is for offical LPY ICS rom germany not for the Leaked rom ICS ZCLP6. You can still use CWM to flash kernel, but DON'T WIPE ANYTHING.
Both of this rom are dangerous, and my advise to you is to revert back to GB rom.

is not really necessary to flash kernel cleaner but many of us using it before flashing other kernel
Hi. I've done this and I'm on GB now. But now I have a new question. Because I flash the LP1 ROM, when I go to download mode, it says "Binary: Custom". I supose that was because I flash the I9220 Bootloader.
If I want to reset the flash counter with a Jig to sent the phone to warranty (if I need), probably I need to flash the "samsung oficial" bootloader.
Anyone can explay this better ou help me flashing the original bootloader and leave the phone in warranty again, please?
EDIT: If helps, I have a ROM that I copy from Kies when I upgrade the first time the note with a oficial ROM. If when I flash that, it will install the original bootloader, say the ODIN options and I will flash it.
THanks for any help.
If there are instructions on how to do this please post a link or maybe someone can help? Thank you.
Note: I am currently using Imikla's ICS rom, not sure what version...I flashed this in March so its based on an early ICS leak.

The safest way to get away from ICS is:
Use PC Odin or Heimdall to flash a safe Gingerbread kernel with working CWM (NOT a full firmware package, and DO NOT mess with repartitioning), such as a Gingerbread CF-Root release. From there you can wipe and then flash whatever you want.
To be clear - JUST flash a safe kernel and then wipe/flash using that - don't flash anything else in PC Odin. If the full firmware package you flash has bootloaders it could hose you.

I've flashed the Abyss kernel as stated and now I have a problem, it stays at the loading screen, excellent instructions guys!
Flash any stock GB ROM via PC ODIN. Do not tick repartition.
Try flashing a single file ROM, not 3 files ROM.
In case if fails, then try flashing a stock 3 files ROM (PDA, MODEM & CSC) alongwith .PIT file and re-partition checked.

Simple, Downgrade to a older GB using PC odinthe rom must be one of the 'root able' roms found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
Then once you have downgraded use this method to gain root and cwm http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360 (scroll to the bottom of the op)
Thanks man, But on another thread (CleaNote ROM) it says this:
Flash STOCK ICS with PC odin
boot the rom
reboot to dowload mode
flash CF kernel
reboot rom
copy CleaNote ROM zip to phone
reboot to CWM
install zip

If you are looking to flash a rom that has step by step instructions on how to install it then follow those, as some roms require different instructions.
But if you want to gain root and CWM and are not sure on what rom you want first what I have said is the easiest way to go
Well that was just what i read on one of the posts, In the OP it just says flash from CWM, Providing you have a safe kernel and root.
My current ROM is LC1 which is one of the unrootable ROMs, and my DLoad for ICS is almost complete !
I think i will just flash ICS then a safe kernel, Then the CleaNote ROM. Im just so scared about the brickbug lol. I will wipe before i update, As GB is safe right ?

ICS flashed fine
Got root and CWM, Just installed Abyss kernel. Now doing a nandroid, Then Im gonna flash CleaNote,
Will avoid the wipe option even tho it says its safe in this kernel, Just not ready to take the risk yet.
Thanks for the advice, Been debating whether to take the plunge all day.
EDIT: spoke to soon, Now Im stuck on Splash screen, Dunno why, The nandroid was successful, But i cannot boot back into recovery now.
Looks like I'll have to flash the ICS again.
Abyss kernel is for gb not for ics. When cleanote said a safe kernel it is speedmod k3-3 or franco r3,r4,r5& r6. They use abyss kernel in wiping data in ics recovery just to be safe and the right step are 1. Flash the abyss kernel 4.2( after that do not wipe or flash your custom rom yet, very important to remember it will superbreak your phone), 2. Go to advanced and find reboot to recovery and click it and do the wiping their, its safe 3. and then you can flash the custom rom. In the case of cleanote theirs no need use abyss if you already flash speedmod or franco kernel in your ics before flashing the cleanote rom because cleanote 1.02 will automatically wipe your data.
Thanks man !! I'll get the hang of this one day
Im on rooted stock ICS now, With CF Kernel, So I just need to flash speedmod kernel( I loved their kernels & ROMs on the SGS1) reboot recovery, Then install CleaNote ?
I almost got it right lol
After flashing speedmod k3-3 click REBOOT SYSTEM NOW(get out of the recovery first) then check in the setting if you really have the speedmod kernel in your system running to be sure and enter recovery again and flash the cleanote rom, thats it.
Hi Guys, This is my first post here in Q & A Section and I want to ask something regarding the Jelly Blast Custom Kernel built-in when installed, I want to ask it on Jelly Blast Thread but sadly, the thread is closed so I decided to make a question so I can gain some stock knowledge when I've this ROM running on my phone. If I uninstall Jelly Blast using my backup NANDROID, Will the built-in custom kernel will be also uninstalled ? Thanks.
if your nandroid backup includes boot.img (kernel) and you restore it fully (i mean not partially by selecting manually what all to restore) the existing kernel (kuro) of your custom Rom should also be replaced afaik .
Yes If UR Backup contains kernel.
URL Jelly blast keRnel will be Uninstalled.

How about If I will flash my in-box firmware using Odin, Does Odin will fail flashing the stock firmware If I'm using Custom ROM w/ Custom Kernel? Is there additional things to insert with Odin before flashing or just normal flashing by Doky?, I mean Do I need to insert BOOTLOADER, totoro_0623.pit, tick repartion etc. I really like the ROM so much and after I got all my questions answered, I'll install the ROM and Does the Custom ROM and Custom Kernel will be Uninstalled If I flashed my in-box firmware using Odin ? Hi, I have some question about flashing a custom kernel (+Franco kernel):
1. Let's say I have Franco Kernel and a new version comes out, do I need to flash it again or I can use the app to flash it? Also, do I need to wipe something before I flash?
2. If I switch to another kernel from Franco, what exactly do I have to do? Just wipe cache+dalvik and re-flash my rom?
3. Will I have to re-flash the kernel after each rom update?
Thanks!
Hi I'm not sure about #1 because I don't use Franco's app, but 2) Sometimes you can just flash a new kernel over the old one. Personally I prefer to dirty flash my ROM, then flash my choice of kernel. 3) You'll need to flash the kernel after a ROM update. The ROM is compiled with it's own kernel.

1. When a new version comes out all you have to do is flash the new version on top of the old one. You can simply download it from the app and let it do a auto-flash. No need to wipe anything.
2. It depends. Some kernels will need you to flash the stock kernel first then flash the custom kernel you want to you. Ex. Faux kernel. Don't forget to read the first post of every thread to look for installation instructions.
3. Yes, you will need to reflash the kernel after a rom is flashed. Make sure to flash the kernel last.

1. Having a recovery is good. When you download a new kernel there is an option to let it do a auto-flash and it'll flash it you. The phone will reboot itself when it's done.
2. Some custom kernels need to flash the stock kernel, (the original factory kernel that it's shipped in) if you're going to switch to another custom kernel like Faux's kernel. So when the next time you want to make a switch to another kernel, please make sure to read the first post of the thread to look for instructions to install the kernel. If you're updating to a new rom or switching to a new rom, you will need to flash whichever custom kernel you were using on top of the updated/new rom. When you flash a new rom, it is recommended to do a full wipe to avoid issues. After every rom flash you need to flash the kernel.
