Hey guys, just ran some sd card benchmarks and came up with these figures. I was blown away by how fast the internal speeds are.
Read - 222.12 MB/S
Write - 124.06 MB/S
Compared to the external this is a lot faster than I expected. Are these speeds the norm or does the Note 4 have an extremely fast sd? For comparison, I get 37.70 MB/S read and 15.93 MB/S on external sd.
What program are you using for benchmarking? I got a Samsung Pro micro sd coming, but if the external is locked at that speed, I may have to save my camera video to internal first. Especially with UHD video.

4k on the Note 4 doesn't even record at 10MB/s, there really isn't any need to switch it to internal.
Unfortunately I occasionally got video stuttering recording 1080p on my Note 3 with a SanDisk Class 10. Isn't the stated rate from Samsung an average? If so, there may be bursts that go over the ext card's write rate.

did you try recording to the internal memory on your note 3?
I'd like to know which app you were using too for testing, I used SD Tools and I really can't believe the numbers I'm getting are real, they're liks SSD speeds! When my phone was freshly rooted, it would be upwards of 800MB/s for read/write. Now, it's slowed to under 250MB/s - read and under 700MB/s - write. Both storage devices were close in speeds.
Downloaded a new benchmarking tool. Looks more realistic now...
Internal - R>211 MB/s W>132 MB/s
External - R>58 MB/s W>20 MB/s
I got the Samsung Pro 64Gb because I really wanted the speed for video reording and playback, but this is no where near the speeds I was expecting. I'm tempted to factory reset my phone so it's just a fresh root and no other mods done to it and see if it improves. I feel like after installing Xposed, it's killed my performance.
This is the program I used. It's called A1 SD Bench

does any one know if high speed SD-cards, are supported and if they make any differents?
i find the sandisk 512Mb to slow when taking pictures
has any one tested out this? thanks
Yes high speed cards are supported and they work better in the Jam than standard ones as you might expect.
I prefer 720p because it fills up my laptop screen very nicely, but I have noticed the framrate skip. which one do think is better?

Well... U are posting this in x10 forum on xda....?? :-o. Weird
Anyways on topic... I use both 720 & 1024p resolutions.. Never had a prob that too on win7

lol, I believe he is asking about 720p vs vga recording on the x10. I myself use the 720p I find it works best at capturing my 3 month old and his goofy antics. I find vga to be choppier..plus yes obviously 720 would look better than vga on a laptop screen..

720p turns out too bad for me with lots of drop-frames, even with a class-4 card...so prefer the WVGA as of now...still hunting around for a high-speed card though!
720p goes nicely for me...no frame drops, class 6 card
Try clearing memory, full, with a taskmanager. Some things wont work anymore but 720p recording works great. Looks like a to much aps running on the background causes this problem.. After that, restart your phone and sort out your unnecessary (crap) widgets and aps running on the background.
Also lighting is very important.
OT: I only record 720p.
I prefer 720p, too.
I have a 16GB class4 card in it (read somewhere the phone can't use more than class 4, means that the phone isn't faster with a class6 card). I get 23 fps and you?

Oh... My bad :$
On mine i find 720p smoother than the vga recording

Mine too. Hd is better. But I use original bundled from the x10. Only 8gb.hd is smoother

lowest i've seen is 20 while my hand is almost still but while running it can drop to 16, still it doesn't look as jerky, appears smoothe, and the max i've seen while my hand was still was 26 fps
I prefer fwvga, the capacity is reasonable and the frame rate is better. The HD quality is too much for me, frame rate is not desirable, 11minute video taking more than 420mb out of my class4 8gb bundle sd card. Without any special purpose, personally i think HD either make it frame rate at least 30fps or none, or why should we need a "half way done" quality and performance?
In addition, i found out the responsive performance of so call "continuous auto focus" quite slow and undesirable. Even i continue point at the same place for 5 second and the video still blur, i need to try somewhere else to get its focus to shot the video. In summary, auto focus is not responsive.

I get 7.5 fps in a dark room, 15 fps in the late evening (outside, say) or with the lights on at night, and 30 fps in a bright environment, all at 720p. I'm quite happy with this.
I am getting 15 fps average for indoor on HD (around 18 for FWVGA) and around 24 for outdoor HD (25 on FWVGA) - no matter what, I never reach that magical number of 30fps, even n bright daylight.
Also, did anyone notice higher graininess in low-light HD videos compared to low light FWVGA?
I have taken 3 videos of duration between 1 to 3 minutes. I kept the setting at 720p recording in my DHD stock Rom. The thing i realized after transfering them to my laptop is that all 3 videos have a very minute pause of recording in between. It occurs like 3-4 times in a video of 1.30 minute. Are you people facing this problem? I checked my memory card of 8GB is still 30% free and there are not more apps running in background.
Is there any solution to get smooth video recordings or is it a bug in DHD ?
Normally your SD card need formatting

Not exactly sure what you mean...
But there is an issue with 1.32, where video randomly skips a few seconds, which was supposed to be fixed in 1.72 firmware.
I did see suggestions about reformating for SD card or using a task killer before you shoot. Check if you're still on 1.32.
I don't have much experience as I didn't do much recording before updating to 1.72. Your best bet is to install a custom ROM if you don't have a update avalible yet. Or wait for the gingerbread update, which should be coming in a few weeks, sound and video recording is improved alot in gingerbread.
If you are talking about software number,it is 1.83 .
I dont know where exactly i can find the firmware no.
I got this s/w no in settings>about phone>software information.
Is it the correct place to look for the firmware?
About formatting my memory card, is there any software to backup and restore the image of memory card?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Yes, the video randomly skips a few seconds.... thats the true explanation. My brother took the same video with his experia ACE, and the video quality was better than DHD. There was much light and the video was brighter as well, compared with my DHD's video.

Yes you're looking at the right place.
You don't need any backup software, just copy everything for the SD card to a folder on your PC, format it, and copy back, easy .
Note that HTC phones aren't exactly known for their cameras. And it's not a suprise that the video on the SE may be higher quality.
There is a great thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875230&highlight=camera+guide
that explains the DHD camera and fixes alot of the issues. It's worth a read.
The main point is to set sharpness to -2 (helps the quality), and adjust the exposure if video lags (low light).
If you were recording outside, maybe setting the exposure higher might help brightness (The problems is that setting too high will resoult in lag if there is not enough light availible.
Funny enough, I tried recording a video now and saw skipping (with 1.82). Exiting the Camera app and using a task killer to kill everything running in the background solved the issue. Search the android market for a "task killer" and download it, and use it before recording.
I hope that will solve your issue.

I just put in a Brand New,unused 1 GB memory card, and took a video. I realized that the Video was normal, and there was no skipping, so now i plan to FORMAT my 8GB memory card and then going to take a video and post the result here.
Hi Guys, congrats to every new S7 Edge owners !!!
1 ) I'm kinda confuse over which mode to actually use ....visually its kinda hard to tell the difference on my QHD notebook and not entirely sure if it's worth recording in QHD.
Can anyone advice if it's worth giving up UHD recording over the use of video stabilizer mode in S7 Edge ?
2)There's once or twice i notice while recording when panning/turning the phone there's a slight jerk, or scene lag or frame skip.....doesnt really happen very offen and it's usually less than a sec but yet i find noticeable.
Could it be that i'm saving it to my SD Card instead of device and the write speed is not fast enough? I'm using Sandisk MicroSD 200gb card
Some advice or tips would be greatly appreicated.
You're only giving up soft stabilization, ois is still working at 4k.
That sdcard only writes at around 15mb/sec, should be quick enough even for 4k, does it happen when recording at 1080p?
Oh so it's only software stabilisation..... Thanks for the info, I try recording at fhd,
I did some further testing recording at 1080p 60 FPS, I notice there's still some slight stuttering when I'm panning the camera while recording.........
Was looking at a camera that just released a few days ago, don't really recall what the brand is. But its apparently "the only camera in the world that records 4k at 60fps." According to their pitch, anyway. Was wondering if it's at all possible, even with a mod, to record 4k video @ 60FPS? The video sizes would be massive, of course. Fortunately I'm flush with 32 GB Micro SD Cards.
You may be flush but 4k video @ 60FPS would eat 32GB cards.

Sure, if I was recording 15+ minute videos with a 40-50MBs Bitrate. Considering most of my 4k videos are typically no longer then 5-7 minutes, and i export the video to my computer same day, 32 GBs is plenty. For Vlogs; I'd be recording in 1080p @ 60FPS because YouTube's 4k compression is horrid, so there's no point there.
Gotcha.
You obviously do more video recording than the average smartphone user... well, definitely more than me.
Just curious, how come you have a lot of 32GB cards?

When I was still living with my parents, whenever I'd get a new android phone I'd also grab an SD Card or two with it. So naturally over the years I've accumulated...."a few" SD Cards. And yes, the v20 was advertised as a "Videographers best friend." Naturally I take pictures too.
WGood for you. The other day I found a 64MB MMC and several Nokia 128MB MiniSD cards. Yeah, MB lol.
Pretty amazing how much capacity has increased in just a few years.
And this is more than a "videogeaphers best friend", everything about the V20 is incredible, I'm more than pleased with mine.

Oh yeah, I did incredible amounts of research on it. Spent hours comparing it to the other "top tier" phones, and this one just spoke to me the most because of the camera and how much of a f***ing power house it is. Funny thing is, at the time I had a (dying) G3, and was begging my family to let me use the upgrade to get a v20. Of course they said no because they didnt want to pay for it, and I couldn't afford it. But hey, I dont have to pay a phone bill and I save them $200 on their plan so who's complaining. Anyway, back on track; the G3 FINALLY died after having it since launch (I take REALLY good care of my devices) and went to the insurance expecting a refurbished G3. NOPE. BRAND SPANKING NEW LG V20 WAS MY REPLACEMENT! I love this phone.
Edit: All this happened before the launch of the G6, but I prefer the V20 over the G6 seeing as the G6 uses the same exact chipset from the G5, so possibly bootloop central over there.
You seem to be having some good luck.
A V20 as an insurance replacement... nice one :good:
