Linux Users and Odin - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) General

I have found the following quite helpful in replicating Odin for rooting and recoveries - http://casual-dev.com/2014/01/04/jodin3-web-browser-or-offline-flashing-tool/
I haven't yet used it for flashing a ROM.
The site says don't use it for large updates but doesn't state what large is. so that is a worry. i'll be uploading civ's 4.4.2 jb bootloader rom so recovery will take of the update. but i am intrigued if 1.7GB is large.

There is also Heimdall. I used it a couple of times a long time ago. It worked a treat.

Extremely confused

I've had the SGS2 for close to a month and in this time, i swear to honest God i've been more confused then i've been during my Symbian authoring days with my N95. I'm a tech savvy individual that reads up and researches things to death before acting but i'm just dumbfounded.
I have a Vodafone Romania SGS2 with the fallowing firmware: PDA: KE1 / Phone: KE1 / CSC: KE1 (CNX). I want to update to the KE5 firmware Kies is apparently showing me but due to a CTD Kies refuses to work and actually froze up my PC.
After repeaded tries, reinstalls, updates and tweaks i gave up on using Kies, especially after reading that it bricked some phones. So on i went to manually flashing it with Odin. I didn't get far because i've stumbled upon the thread with the official ROMS. So far i just want to install the official honest to god KE5 update for my network, to not mess anything up and still keep the warranty.

So, i assume i need the BUKE5, which is the KE5 update, the full one, not the kernel alone? So i go there and the filename is: GT-I9100_VDC_I9100BUKE1_I9100BUKE1_I9100VDCKE1.exe (265.11 MB)
Am i just paranoid or is that not the correct firmware update? Also, upgrading the firmware needs to delete all my apps and app data. I backed them up using astro and the kies software to the best of my ability, but i ended up being stonewalled that doing anything, from firmware to rooting to etc, lands me with more work to be done restoring the apps and settings after i'm done with it.
I just had so many issues with the phone, and in the end it doesn't seem as 'smart' as i though it'd be. Everyone had high praise for it and to be honest, after beating around with it so much, i really wish people would have told me about the numerous issues it has before buying. Sadly, only glowing and positive reviews. -.-
In the end, can someone please help me atleast update the firmware?
LE: Forgot to mention in case of the Kies, Win7 Professional.
external sd card doesn't get wiped. Internal sd card doesn't get wiped.
You could try a no wipe root by just flashing a rooted kernel like chainfire rather than full rom. Then backup user apps using titanium.
Use odin for both and generally only use PDA file, and defaulted options like reboot and do on. See various kernel threads for that.

The difference its that chain fire adds recovery tools but its only a kernel. You can add that later if you want.
After that, first full custom rom or rebranded rom does mean /data which are user app data directories may get wiped.

Ok then, so i'm installing CF kernel to make a full backup for one thing. I get to the post, stumble around only on google with fake versions to see Odin at the bottom of the post attached. Get that, get the Zip, then get to the 'put your phone in download mode'. Ok i guess that's the USB mass storage? Two minutes later.. nope. More google. Realise it ment to reboot the phone in download mode by pushing Volume down, power button and the home key.
Right, finally i manage to install the CF kernel without issues. Now i accessed Titanium Backup and begin backing up all it can.
Will keep updated here.
After a bit of searching, i found Intratech actually put the wrong link up for the BUKE5 update on the vodafone network for Romania. I PM'd him and waiting for an update.
Good Luck. I'm sorry to hear you have had so many problems.
With regards to your warranty, you can always Odin the stock firmware and buy a USB Jig (devs are currently working on a software solution, should be cracked soon removing the need for the jig) from ebay to reset the custom ROM counter before you return the phone if needed.
The very next day, i got the BUKE5 firmware update and installed it succesfully. I will continue by rooting the phone with CF again and i should be done.
Atleast i got my 'totally painless easy-to-update firmware'.
Later edit: Seems there is no KE5 CF root. -.-
You probably do not need ke5 root.
So called insecure kernel only needed for two things.
1) flash secure rom (ke5) then insecure kernel (ke2 or ke7 kernel only) that you flash over your secured rom (ke5).
Insecure lets running one click root, that installs super user and busy box.
That is what you do I guess.
Then optionally you flash regular kernel (ke5) kernel only, not whole rom. You will keep super user and root but I lose adb root which you probably will not miss.
2) flash custom kernel. E.g. one like tegrak for cpu flexibility, or one like chain fire keep for custom recovery if you like
Cmw recovery
.
So get the latest that is compatible. New over old its often okay.
ke7 or kf2. Or do what some are doing and wait for ke9 (rumoured gingerbread upgrade release from samsung) that on my magic was a big upgrade in performance)
You get to do great stuff like tegrak over clock app with both 1 and 2.
Advantage of (1) is that flashing a genuine kernel after an insecure one used just too get root gets rid of that yellow ! you get with custom kernel when you boot the phone that could alert an engineer with a warranty claim.
Or stay on custom kernel and use a jig like previous poster said to clear the alert. Two pounds fifty well spent.
Advantage of (2) is that recovery installs are very convenient, and do not put the ! warning. Oh and updating phone on the train gets funny looks from fellow passengers looking over your shoulder.
On the other hand some people like using odin anyway "because that's what samsung engineers use"

[Q]Won't update to Android 3.2.1 over FOTA / need original stock ROM

So first of all my tablet is brand new and not rooted and I don't want to root it.
When I got it I could update it instantly from 3.0.whateverwastheversionatthetime to android 3.2 (build 7.006.01_COM_GEN1) but it won't go from there to 3.2.1 which I hear is available for my location (France) The update tool tells me that my firmware is up to date.
I've tried a factory reset as advised by Acer customer care services but it wouldn't change. Also no matter what I do (empty cache etc.) the market won't update to Google Play Store and I think the two issues are related.
So I have two (or rather 3) questions:
1) Does anyone know a way around to force the update? (I doubt it's possible but hey "l'espoir fait vivre")
2) If not can I install a stock ROM without root and NOT compromise the warranty?
3) Where can I get such a ROM? I have searched here and here but 3.2.1 is not on the first thread and the links on the second thread are broken, plus I want to make sure that the ROM is the proper one for my region and that comes the ICS OTA update I will have no troubles doing the update.
Thanks in advance to those who will answer.

1) No you cannot force an OTA
2) It depends - others have reported returning there acer with no probs -, i think someone has even returned it rooted and been ok. These things are fairly bulletproof, and really hard to 'brick'. As long as you can read, follow a few steps you shouldnt have any probs. The worse thing you can do is try 2 or 3 different methods all at once because something isnt working right. You're best to pick one and stick with it, if you have probs ask for help in the thread you got the rom from or start your own like you have here
3) The update.zip method from the first link you posted "should" work. Did you "decrypt" the file you downloaded before extracting the update.zip??
You could try timmyDeans v4 method- it will install a stock 3.2.1, it is rooted but you can remove root using the tools he provides. Beware though this will wipe all data so backup anything essential.
The update.zip method will leave your data and settings intact
As always the choice is yours, there are some really excellent custom roms out there - I enjoy the best of both worlds with a backup of my trusty stock 3.2.1, I flash to my hearts content knowing I can always go back to it when the OTA update is out!!! Oh the joys of root priveleges
Thanks for your input, I'll make sure to try all this when I get back from work. I've a few additional questions:
1) If I install a custom rom, will the OTA work from this ROM or, comes the OTA, will I have to restore my actual Stock rom and then proceed with the OTA?
2) I haven't tried the rom on the first link I gave because it is modified and I was searching for the original, pristine, untouched stock ROM for 3.2.1
I've seen such roms around here on xda for 3.2 but none for 3.2.1, if anyone stumbles upon one please let me know.
3) Since I'm still looking for a pristine ROM before trying anything else, I have a friend whose tablet (same brand and model) safely updated to 3.2.1, is there a way to make a rom from is gear? If yes, how to?
4) (related to 3) how can I backup my actual ROM, do I have to be a root user to do so?
THX again!

1. Typically, most people do not take OTA's when running a custom rom, as basically the OTA installs a totally fresh factory Rom. This is true with the 3.2.1 update, which contains a new bootloader. Usually, this means you lose root, and Recovery, then stuck with downgrading to get these things back.
Timmy Deans root tool supposedly maintains a back door method, which s supposed to protect root, in case of an OTA. No, I haven't used this method, as I run my own 501 roms.
2. Vache has a thread "full package and updates" in the 500 Dev forum. There are several factory Roms and Updates. You'll have to look. Chances are, he may not have the specific Com Gen version you want, but probably one close enough.
3. If your friend can get adb running, you can pull a "system dump", which will dump all files/folders in the system folder. The boot.img would be nice to get, but you can probably use the current one you have. Unfortunately, he already rebooted, so you probably can't get the original full update file. If he's rooted, you can use an app called Rom Factory, to get most of what you need. It's always a good time to become familiar with ADB.
4. Well, you can back it up internally, but it's sort of useless if you can't get into your OS You will need to Root, and install a custom recovery to keep your backup externally.

ok, as Moscow has pointed out, in vaches thread not all roms are listed. My stock roms (1.016.01 and 1.139.04) for instance weren't - so I spent the last hour or two trying the "EUU gen1" listed at the bottom of the page. Well, it actually worked!! It gave me an OTA to 1.139.04 straight away. After that installed i got the 4.010.40 to 3.2 and then the next 2 for 3.2.1 - 7.006.03 and 7.014.15. So its given me the correct updates for my country AND kept my data and settings too.
SO, since you're on a Gen1 Rom this should work for you too, but still no gaurantee you will get the OTA to 3.2.1, no harm in trying though
btw timmydeans method is a gen2 rom so you can rule that out...
---------- Post added at 11:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:16 PM ----------
just came across this link for an update to stock 3.2.1 build 7.014.14 here - orignal thread here but you need cwm to install it....
unless you can make it into an update.zip???
but thats way outta my league,
moscow may be able to suggest something though
Thank you very much, your answers help a lot! Just a few precisions and I'll stop being a pain in the ass!

==> @ Moscow, when you say "lose recovery" does it mean I lose the green thingy with gears when I start with volume down and power pressed/ and when I reset to factory settings?
==> @dibb_nz your method is the closest to what I'm looking for, I also hope it will give me the correct updates for my country and since Vache is a fellow countryman it might just be ok.
Anyways thanks again, I'll give a thorough look to all of your solutions and try and do a few things tomorrow afternoon. I'll keep you posted in case this thread interests anyone else.

No, what I meant to say, is when you run a rooted "custom" Rom, and use a "custom" recovery such as RA Recovery or CWM, getting an OTA update, usually wipes that out, and installs the factory bootloader. Your factory recovery....cough cough.... will still be there.
If you are only concerned about stock factory, then don't worry about it. You;re ok. Your factory/stock recovery will be just fine
The reason we root and install custom recoveries, is so we can do 3 primary things.
1. Flash a custom rom
2. Create a complete system backup to our external SD card.
3. Get rid of pre-installed useless apps.
There are other things we can do with it, but these are the primary reasons.
When you have a default factory stock system, the only protection you have, is a factory reset (hope it works), and a couple other methods which require a touch more knowledge.
Anyhow, don't worry about your factory recovery. It's just fine.
1) Just for the sake of knowledge what's the difference between GEN_1 and GEN_2? (and GEN3 and CUS7 and EMEA_TMLP)?
2) @Dibb_nz when you tried with the stock rom from Vache, was it because you encountered the same no FOTA update problem as I did? Or just to try...?
3) Something's still unclear to me after browsing through the forums: If I get an unmodified stock ROM can I flash it with the stock recovery? (so without rooting) Or do I need CWM (so root is needed)
4) What's EUU? (on Vache's thread some roms are listed as EUU)

1. The Gen's usually signify regional based roms. More specifically language support, sometimes a wifi tweak, and maybe a couple other things. Mostly though, ComGen1's are for the US and probably canada, and offer about 12 different languages. TMPL is for East Europe mostly, with polish as the default language. All roms contain the english language as far as I know.
3. You basically can't install a full rom on an unrooted tablet without CWM or RA Recovery. You will have to run the update (decrypt the file, remove the update.zip)
4. EUU is a pc based install. Plug in the USB, set your tab to APX mode and run the EUU.
If you did the root, and install a custom recovery, then you could run just about all the full roms. Your custom recovery would be overwritten, and you would lose root access. You would have a stock tablet with the version rom you selected.
You can always wait a week or so. Am sure if the update has been pushed to your country, it's just a matter of time till you get it. It's common for the update process for specific roms, to get fully done in 2-3 weeks. It took well over a week just for users in california to mostly start getting updates.
Well the official release date for the ICS FOTA in France is May 3rd, so I'll wait until then but having other options and the know-how to take actions is always a good basis. (plus I'm really not the patient type ^^)
Stupid question but I'm guessing EUU needs root too?
and also APX means rebooting while holding power and volume - right?

I tried the EUU just to see if it would keep me on my regions OTA upgrade path.
Sometimes you can have probs OTA'ing if you aren't using the rom from your region.
But in this case it gave me the correct OTA's.
APX is Acer Download mode, where the OTA upgrades are flashed - this EUU will do it via your PC. Button push method (power/reset button) not required.
No, the EUU does not need root which is why I tried it out for you
You will need to be on 3.2.1 before you will receive the ICS update
I used this EUU from vaches thread -
EUUs_SBK_Acer_A500_1.016.05_COM_GEN1
late for work will check back later
That's really helpful thanks I'm downloading the same EUU you used and will try it today or tomorrow depending on how much time I have, will keep you posted!
Ok so I did the EUU install and it worked fine, the tablet then allowed me to upgrade to 3.01 and then 3.1 then 3.2 via FOTA without any problem. But once I reached 3.2, the update tool informs me that there's no update available and my gear is up to date
So my guess is Acer France are not pushing the 3.2.1 FOTA update anymore...
Any other explanation?

Glad to hear u got thru the EUU process OK, not so great u still can't ota to 3.2.1
Others have reported similar issues not sure if/how they were ever resolved. As moscow posted earlier, ota,s are not made available to all users in all regions, all at once, so it may be just a matter of waiting for the next "push cycle" to roll round.
At least you know you can always get back to stock if you ever decide to root and go custom There no direct root method for 3.2, just use that same euu to get back to 3.1 and use iconia root and Acer recovery installer from the market and you're ready to flash your rom of choice
Pls post back if u do get the ota - best of luck
rgds Donna
Yeah I was just browsing the XDA forums, contemplating the idea to rollback and root and then installing this
I wonder if it's worth waiting for the OTA... as for what you said about waiting for the next "push cycle" I've been waiting since I got the tablet and the update hasn't come yet, which is strange because the ICS update is due on May 3rd in France and I'd guess they'd have everyone up to date and ready for the update by now!
Rooting seems pretty straightforward and much easier than what it was on my Samsung Galaxy Spica: I found this
, a file called iconiaroot.apk on the sdcard aswell, rebooting your tablet while pushing the volume down button so its starts flashing the buggy honeycomb version.
Then start up the tablet again, rush to the market, download some file manager, with that filemanager explore your sdcard, and install the iconiaroot.apk file, once thats done, rush back to the market and download and install acer recovery installer. At that point you will have CWM (clockworkmod) installed.

is that all there is to it?
In any case I'll keep you posted just so it can help anyone with the same issue!
alsoe FYI and just for the anecdote: the reason I'm so cautious about everything and scared ****less of rooting is that the tablet is a present from my girlfriend for my 30th birthday, and she'll hang me with my guts if I brick it.
Ok I rooted and flashed the above-mentioned rom and it works! I'm now under 3.2.1!
Thanks to everyone who helped me! When the ICS update comes I will post here to signal how the FOTA went.
Thanks again!
Lol, good onya for taking the plunge! Yeh acer recovery installer is brilliant, along with iconia root, makes the whole process stress free.
Will be interesting to see if you get a notification for ICS OTA with that rom.
Can always flash one of the leaks if u get impatient??
Glad everything's worked out and yr g/f still talking 2 u
rgds Donna
thx! I will post here when/if I get the OTA. and my love life is safe thanksnto iconia root
okay so the ota has been rolling for over a week and a half now and still nothing for me

[Q] Need help recovering i337 S4

Hi All,
I just got an SPH-i337 yesterday and attempted to Root + Install Mod.
I ended up rooting and installing Safestrap (TWRP 2.6.x.x). Upon first use I backed up my current OS to a removable SD card using the utility in TWRP. I then, because I was not clear on how to download install CM which was what I was going to, installed ROM Manager and selected CM without setting up a ROM slot. I think this is where I went wrong.
Upon reboot, I was unable to access the Stock ROM and had no options to go to CM. When I attempted to perform a restore from my backup on SD it failed as well and keeps going to the Android recovery screen (not TWRP).
I'm now just trying to go back to stock and have tried using both Heimdall and Odin to no avail. Odin at least provides an error message:
SW REV. CHECK FAIL: Fused:4, Binary:1. What does this mean? That I'm attempting to use an image (.tar.md5 file) which is not current? Is there a way that I can still recover my phone?
..also, please let me know if there are pieces of information that I'm missing. I don't have much to go off of since the firmware and other information (I believe) is not able to be accessed.
Again I just got the phone yesterday. I also have about 40 tabs open that are full of searches that I've been doing regarding this. As yet, no luck.

Safestrap only works with other TW ROMS, so your first issue was trying to use CM. Second, it's not official TWRP and is not even installed to the recovery partition so using ROM Manager was your second issue. Trying to boot into recovery normally will take you to stock recovery since it isn't installed in the recovery partition, there should be a splash screen that comes up after the Samsung Galaxy S4 screen asking to either press for recovery or continue. If that works, you can use the backup from there. If it's gone, you have to use ODIN. The reason you get that SW REV. CHECK FAIL is because you're trying to flash an older firmware than you have. Depending on if you were on 4.2.2 or 4.3 you will either need the MF3 or MK2 .tar.md5 respectively.

Now you tell me - after I've been trying to do this for 12+ hours. Many thanks though - it looks like the MK2 AiO files are working.

Unfortunately, it seems that I can't use the method listed directly on that page on account of running the MK2 baseband. If I'm going to go forward it looks like I'll have to use SafeStrap and unofficial TWRM + TW mods for the time being.
Of course, if something about what I'm saying is wrong, I'd be glad to hear it.

Attempting to flash ROM, just automatically fails even though I'm following instructi

Finally got my ATT SG4 rooted and recovery installed. Downloaded Goldeneyerom, backed up, wipe/reset, and when i try to flash it fails immediately
downloading another ROM in the meantime but what has happened here? i swear i never get it right :/
and for the record i'm clueless here. I dont know what MK2 and NC1 and all that is, I just want to flash something that lets me bypass the load screen and has all the bloatware removed. Any link would be appreciated
Please be specific
What bootloader is your device using? What Firmware are you currently running? What Rom are you trying to flash? Did you verify the MD5 of the ROM you downloaded? Are you sure you are rooted? What custom recovery are you using?

bootloader is locked
stock mk2
any rom that will actually work
not sure how to verify the MD5
towelroot says im rooted
super user is installed
root checker says i have root access
using safetrap as recovery since its the only one i can use
hopefully that was enough info for you to be able to help me with the next step. I should this was going to be alittle easier, been at it two weeks now and i have basically just been doing everything the wrong way.
Are you using SafeStrap specific ROM?
My device needs Loki Doki. I've never had a SafeStrap device. I wonder if the ROM you're attempting to use doesn't work for your device type. Try using ROMs like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2468860 wich are made for devices uing SafeStrap. Most ROMs on here are de-bloated so whichever one you choose, it'll be better than the original one your phone came with.
Firmware/Radio shouldn't affect your phone's ability to install a ROM, just affects your performance (i.e. signal quality, etc.)
Like I've mentioned, I've yet to ever deal with SafeStrap so its a bit out of my league. Can anyone else offer up some advice?

alright i tried flashing that rom with safestrap and it also failed immediately
help!
I am not SafeStrap savvy either. But, with MK2, I "think" you can only flash 4.3 roms and may need the older SafeStrap. I would, if you haven't, get up on the SafeStrap thread and check out "All Things MK2 etc" thread. This isn't an easy phone to flash and some more research may save some headaches. I didn't catch your post count. You need 10 to post in Dev Section. Always wipe System along with Data and Caches before flashing rom. Assume those are available in SafeStrap recovery. You might want to upgrade to NB1/NC1.
You do need to check rom md5 after downloading with file manager like ES File Explorer. I use a Command Window and just drag downloaded rom to window. The md5 is basically a way to check that you got to your phone what the download site was suppose to send. It is a checksum. Roms don't always download correctly. However with all your failures, I doubt that is your problem. The md5, if available will be listed on thread OP page and/or download page. Also, try downloading to Internal, if you are not, and see if that helps.
A lot of this you can Google, as I did in the beginning. If all else fails go to the thread "No Stupid Questions" It is Stickied at top of Q&A and SafeStrap is currently toward bottom of first Q&A page. :good:
It's probably because you have safestrap version 3.71? If that's the case all the latest Roms require Safestrap 3.72 so try updating and see what happens

says 3.72 isnt for MK2. And when i tried it it won't even load into recovery. So i guess I can't use any KitKat roms.
SO now that the umpteenth problem is out of the way, while I'm downgrading back to 3.71 can anyone recommend a good 4.3 rom?

Oops, told you. Sorta. Would keep reading those related threads and go to the 4.3 ROM threads listed in All Things MK2 and read the OP and last 20 pages of thread to get a feel. The different SafeStraps are particular in how you flash Roms to them. So check that out too. As far as how the roms work, it will vary for each user. So, have a backup. Good Luck.

Well you're right on that part 3.72 isnt for MK2 BUT! after you get Safestrap 3.71 installed on MK2 you can use this method and flash this NC1 Rooted Rom in Safestrap Method 2 Post 3 to be exact http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2730144 follow the instructions to a T and you will be on NC1 4.4.2 and once there you will have to download terminal emulator and type "su" then enter then "setenforce 0" (that changes you're SElinux status to Permissive instead of enforcing) because the safestrap 3.72 apk wont install properly once done with that download a busybox apk installer and reinstall busybox after that you should be good to go install safestrap 3.72 and then reboot into VIOLA

Daman you got two pieces of bad advice here.
1. Double check suggestions before doing them
2. That's done by reading thoroughly the threads I suggested till you understand enough not to get into trouble
Looks like trouble on Hyper also, that's why I am re-stressing study first. I want you to get it right the first time. SafeStrap is complicated untill you understand all of it--:good:

I won't be able to assist any further, sorry. I have reached my limit on SafeStrap.
Go to the No Stupid Question thread in Q&A. And tell exactly where you are and ask for next step. Maybe odin back to stock and start over after some re-reading. jd is pretty good there with helping out on all kinds of issues. You generally won't get much help in the actual Dev thread. :good:
Also, tedusa77 is pretty good too

[Q] JFLEATT MDL to NJ4

Greetings, what is the best way for me to take my JFLEATT from MDL to NJ4?
I've not yet put a SIM or SDHC in the phone. It's been connected to my PC to run Casual and to a Wi-Fi network to install the TWRP Manager from the Play store. I also updated TWRP to 2.8.4.0 (after first updating to 2.8.5.0 and experiencing the dead recovery discussed here). I've just wiped the phone and made a compressed, non-encrypted backup of all the filesystems for disaster recovery purposes.
I've performed steps 1-5a in this awesome topic.
Is it true, can I just flash stock/rooted/custom ROMs through TWRP?
Although it's probably right in front of me, I can't seem to find a stock/rooted NJ4 ROM to use with TWRP. A recommendation would be very much appreciated.
So what do I do next to get from MDL to NJ4?
.

If your bootloader is MDL and you take the NJ4 update you will be locked and forced to use safestrap recovery. If you are MDL you are one of the few lucky ones remaining with the options to flash a lot of custom roms using TWRP. Don't upgrade would be my suggestion. You can find great TW roms without upgrading.
Thanks
What do I need to watch for to make sure I don't lock the bootloader?
I want the KK/Sammy stock experience, rooted. I'm thinking Goldeneye is a good place to start.
With much respect to iB4STiD and his users, I might like to try something tighter to stock. Is there a popular TWRP-flashable ROM which could get me there?

Follow the instructions in the thread you mentioned. They apply to your device. Specifically the FIRST post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42320391&postcount=1
Once that's done report back to us. Some parts might be out of date, in that case just do a quick search around the forum. Your want to get the latest version of TWRP flashed into recovery for example.

Thanks, I've done that already, through step 5a.
(I see how my OP could be confusing on that point; I've gone back and edited it for clarity.)
Are there any other recommendations for a KK/Sammy stock/rooted experience that can be flashed from TWRP? Goldeneye looks great, I'm just trying to learn of others.

Your set then, you already have a Nandroid.
Grab a ROM, put it on your external SD card, reboot into TWRP, wipe the device, and flash the ROM, kernels, etc. ~ Most ROM's your find in the subforums around here are already have been loki-doki'ed so you shouldn't be over worried about. Besides, most ROM threads will mention in the first post if they are already loki patched. Enjoy your "unlocked" S4, you lucky person ^^
