While I await the nexus 9, I'd like to flash something on my nexus to give me the closest taste of L and to help speed it up. Anything like this exist?
Anyone?

Hi,
i am new to this device and i want to calrify some things first. I own a Samsung Galaxy Nexus (previously Nexus One) and i am familiar to the dev sections of android/nexus devices.
1. What i do not understand is why the dev section is separated into Nexus 7 Android Development and Nexus 7 Original Development.
I there any difference between these devices or are they the same? I am in europe - which one do i usually get?
2. What is a good ROM to start with? What i am basically looking for is a fast and lean ROM with a very stock look and very good battery life. I am also looking for a true tablet UI look as it is on the transformer prime for instance. I mean i dont want those dock icons on the right when i hold the N7 horizontally...
Any suggestions? :fingers-crossed:
Thanks in advance

1.original android development means that the devs there started the work from scratch/ or based from stock rom while android development is the place where people use other roms as a base and put their improvements into it (correct me if i'm wrong though)
2. you can try them all out check what fits your standard and look at the features if it has what you want try paranoid since it offers options which can make N7 look like tab
for question #2, try out Paranoid Android. that should give you the feel you are looking for in a tablet.
^^ what they said. PA for that tablet feel and while you are at it may I recommend Franco's kernel

Hi everyone, just a query. I've seen a past attempt at an Optimus G Rom port that booted and had some radio issues. My question is simply, could a full Rom port be possible?
While the Optimus G UI is not as good looking as AOSP, it does have some nice looking features particularly for the camera (since the AT&T Optimus G and Nexus 4 share the most similar hardware, camera should be able to work). I think this would be a great mod to have, features like Q-slide multitasking would be fun to try.
So what so the devs say? Could this happen?

It could be. One problem is the Optimus G barely recieved a 4.1 jellybean update whereas we are on 4.2.2. By the time the Optimus G recieves 4.2.2, at the rate it took them to release 4.1, we will probably be on 5.0 KLP and as you should know 4.2 kernels won't simply boot a 4.1 ROM.
It will be hard to fully port and may not be worth the effort in the end
Hi,
Take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2175663
To give you an answer from my best judgement is yes certainly can. And as a matter of fact I was , when I get set up and the time, going to try my hand at some "Ports" as I know it will require much more work than I'm used to on S3 to another carrier S3 by long shot but knowing for a first port for me on nexus ever I figured why not try LGS G? I do understand where the other post is coming from but that will be where I would most probably stick with the 4.2.1 anyway. I'll see. Pm me if you want to collaborate and I'll try and get some time this week. Been up all night piloting these threads as I can't sleep from a hernia lol...but I'll check tomorrow or this afternoon...peace. BTW I have brand new computer but its not much of upgrade as I couldn't afford to replace the one I had and I didn't want to pay much but its stupid windows 8 and I want to go in first and disable all the crap and then DL SDK adb and kitchen utilities etc I had on old broken laptop...edit..now I see where the guy is talking about the g. Damn yes its only on 4.1 and not 4.2.1?? OK. I'll look...

Thanks everyone, seems like we need the Optimus G to get 4.2.2 for it to be easy enough to get working, till then it could work but it seems like a lot of effort for the devs. When the time comes though I pray someone gets it working, we all love to experiment, and to be honest I think the LG camera app with more features will be better..

Hello everyone!
I was wondering if there is a ROM that imitates or rather copies the Sense 5.0 UI for the Nexus 4? Sense 5.0 is arguably the best manufacturer custom UI on top of vanilla Android, so maybe such a ROM already exists for the Nexus 4. I haven't had much luck searching for such a developer thread. However, if it doesn't exist, i think this would be a great idea for anyone who thinks he's up to the task.
Cheers!

Unfortunately the port is not working. There is no working ROM, and the project seems to have stalled or been (unofficially) dropped. I really hope we can rally enough developer support to reboot or continue the Sense port project.
What about using MIUI with a Sense theme?

Guys, good news! It looks like Dmitry Grinberg is working on a Marshmallow port for the Nexus One! If you don't know who Dmitry Grinberg is, he is the hacker who works at Google and he ported Marshmallow to the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 7 2012. Other than these two ancient devices, he was also able to make Android M run on the Nexus S.
From his posting on his website, he is now focusing on the Nexus One!
http://dmitry.gr/index.php?r=06. Thoughts&proj=05. Android M on Nexus S
dookie23, I get the excitement over porting Android 6.0 to those "ancient devices," but that accomplishment pales in comparison to the Nexus One - the latter represents the original "smart" that was added to Android phones at the Dawn of Mankind ... (Jan 2010). Cue Also sprach Zarathustra (Strauss). . .
I have found some M and L ports for our Nexus One on google but did not have the time to try.
Has anyone tried any, if so which one?
Cheers..
Could you please share those roms, I googled and couldn't find any Marshmallow rom.
If he wants to do it he will do it , i know its possible even the htc HD2 got M working and nexus 1 and HTC HD2 have mostly the same hardware.
I OWN BOTH OF THEM
Holy wow! I came here per chance after being out of touch with android developments for so long. I cherished some hope when 4.0 came out and it was being ported. But builds were wonky and incomplete (as I remember at that time) and my hope of a stable daily driver quickly faded.
This was the last thing I expected to see here. Super exciting!
In order to be able to use these the font package and keyboard need to be updated to recognize the emoji otherwise you get a symbol in its place because it's seeing code it can't translate and you wouldn't be able to select the new emoji without the keyboard being Speed Test updated to show them as well.
Title basically says it all. I'd like to know if you are missing any ROMs you might know from previous phones, or simply know that are great. Or are you already satisfied with the ROMs that exist?
Maybe someone who knows a bit or two about developing will pick any suggestions up to port them on the G6!
For me personally, the best ROM i used until i got my G6 was the Pure Nexus ROM on my old Nexus 5. Simply loved it! Basically Stock Android with a few well thought out addons! But i assume it would be difficult to get that ROM ported to the G6...
