[Q] Nexus Player Channels - Nexus Player Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I would like to purchase the Nexus Player to replace my old Roku box.
One of the things I liked about the Roku were the assortment of channels in the store. A lot of them were crappy but I was happy with the foreign movie channels and some that were viewer provided.
Will the Nexus Player have such channel selection and user provided content?

Good news for purchased content

From todays press conference...
"Samsung Media Hub:
The Galaxy Tab 10.1 software update will introduce the evolution of Samsung's popular movie and next day TV content service, known as Media Hub. Media Hub has been redesigned with a new user interface and optimized video content for the 10.1" display for even easier downloads and higher quality viewing experience of rented or purchased content. Media Hub features thousands of new release and top-grossing titles from major Hollywood studios and leading television networks, including NBC Universal, Paramount, MTV, Warner Bros. , CBS and FOX. The new version also features Media Hub Show, which allows the user to playback Media Hub content on a TV through an HDMI cable from the Galaxy Tab 10.1 dock or adaptor. Users can register up to five devices under one account to access owned content across multiple devices without repurchase. Alternate premium video options include Android Movies, which is available to download from the Android Market."
Looks like paid content can now be viewed on your TV through HDMI
I was wondering if that would be the case. I assumed so..... but drm and streaming rules can sometimes be very restrictive.

Does media hub allow you to rent movies if you have root? Going to try on my tab tonight and was curious if I would be wasting my time.

I am rooted and was able use the mediahub movie download.
I'm rooted, I bought a tv episode, it worked fine.

video: XBMC running on the Ouya shot by XBMC team dev.

Didn't see a post with this, this is the main reason I backed the ouya.

Not a big deal, even my Galaxy Nexus with the XBMC hardware accelerated test build stream 720p over UPnP smoothly. I went ahead and bought an MK808 stick, but might get an Ouya when it's released for better hardware and quality control.

Cool video. This is my main reason for buying the OUYA as XBMC is the only way I have found to stream movies to my kids PC while preserving the DVD menus and subtitles. I would rather my 6, 8 and 10 year old sons not handle my DVDs directly so I store all their movies on a 3TB hdd... can't wait for this to get in in June.
Awesome to have xbmc, that will go great with an external HD for offline media. I wonder if a usb DVD or Blueray will work in the OUYA?

[Q] Has anyone figured out how to cast s4 to sony blu-ray player?

Twonky + Roku = perfection for casting/streaming local videos in the bedroom, but I would love to find a solution for the living room where the humongous tv is. I get that I can buy Chromecast or such and stream that way, but with a tight budget we're hoping to run the blu-ray player til it dies The blu-ray player streams youtube, netflix, amazon, hulu, etc, and I've gotten so far as to download one app, PlayTo Sony, which displayed the name of my device on the screen, but showed no media to play, so got part-way there but no cigar.

Only the Blu-ray player has wifi. TV isn't a smart TV.

is the blu ray DLNA compatible? I think that is the only way it will work, if it is DLNA you can try the Skifta app

Yes, BDP-S570 shows DLNA yes. I got skifta to go so far as displaying all my musical artists/albums on the TV, no luck with the video section and wouldn't play any music files either says no file to play.

Fire Tv - Enable Airplay

I think this following app is a very good for using your Fire Tv & Airplay to take advantage of Apple's services. So what about you wish one is best in your opinion/experience.
Take a look at this video for how to enable airplay in the Fire TV:
http://youtu.be/QV31V5ZaDLA
compare to waxrain's airplay
how does this compare to Airplay/DLNA from Waxrain? I have seen waxrain's airplay and one thing i didnt like is that the movies i played from ipad got stuck and also i couldnt play any videos in full screen format, especially things like youtube. Does this app allow smooth video from iphone and youtube.
None of the airplay apps are perfect, but this one seams to perfect mirroring on the iPad or oder apple devices, if you want to stream video try AirPlay/DLNA Receiver (PRO) or Even XBMC you might have better luck.

[Q] Netflix app DD+ audio?

I feel the same way. I've bought a bunch of Nexus devices over the years, but this one is a big disappointment, it's going back. I just need a simple box that does Netflix and XBMC well. Fire TV here I come -- on sale for $69 today.
I tried playing movies from the Google movie store and my AVR shows "Multi Ch. In" so it is PCM multi channel. Same for Plex. But not for the Netflix app.
XBMC side loaded can do DD and DTS bitstreaming but no sign of DTS-HD or Dolby TrueHD bitstreaming. Not sure whether it's a hardware limitation, XBMC, HDCP fun, etc.
