Bootloop LS980 LG Screen over and over - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The phone was rooted, I installed PHILZ advanced recovery.
I did the INSTALL a NEW ROM wipe.
I selected my CM zip from recovery to install.
Installation went fine. I rebooted the phone.
I get LG screen over and over again.
What is happening?
Am I missing something?

I just used the LG FlashTool and reflashed the phone with ZVE, Stumped rooted and Carrier Unlocked. That seemed to take care of it all.

Update guessing is the ota? You can use flashify app from play store to flash either TWRP recovery 2.6.3.2 that is a IMG. Or 2.6.3.3. That's a zip file .....
Okay will try

I just read in another thread that custom recoveries cannot yet be flashed on the latest OTA. You have to revert back in order to have a custom recovery. According to this thread.

I have tried to use the Loki method to flash recovery also tried using flashify neither one has worked. What method did you use. Also thanks for your help...??

Just flashed recovery img with flashify again. It says complete and gives option to flash more stuff or reboot. I choose reboot and it powers off. So I tried power button and vol down and that way also just powers off...

Root and OTA

If I ever get an OTA update (almost unheard of on AT&T), what do I need to do before I install it to not mess up my phone? It's currently just rooted on the stock ROM.

you get a nice recovery bootloop
but if you get an update
just use the update tool on the pc and plug your phone in and even if you
have a custom recovery it'll update because the update tool does it in download mode
What does "upgrade recovery" do in LG Mobile Support Tool? I tried googling it and couldn't find anything. I rooted and installed TWRP, and the LG Mobile Support tool says I don't have an update available but I'm only on the D80010d, not D80010o

Cant flash recovery..

Hi, I tried to flash twrp recovery with some help from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2449670 but it keeps saying fail.. I tried both options.
if rooted freegee is easier from app store, it gets proper automagically.
If trying to flash via cwm, get the recovery flashable zip from the thread and not the img. Doubt thats the case
Where did you get that awesome avatar btw?

btw I created my avatar through this site http://www.faceyourmanga.com/editmangatar.php
sorry for my English I'm European .
BTW again, do I need an unlocked bootloader to flash roms like paranoid I'm on d802
"Keeps saying it failed" What failed, in what part? Also currently there's no way to unlock the bootloader, but use loki bypass instead, basically when you have recovery installed, you don't have to worry much about bootloader or loki.

Yes you can and flash them without any problems. Only in twrp settings tick the option to use different format command or it'll take like 10 minutes to wipe cache

ehr, I fell for it, just go freegee way. easier.

if you are on the 10o software version on an ATT phone ten yes I would recommend flashing back wit the flash tool if you want to be able to flash roms. There are a lot of people that had the 0o software and had issues flashing different roms

Had the same issue a few days ago. TWRP, CWM, and Philz wouldn't flash properly, but I'm pretty sure it was my fault. Currently I have CWM installed by FreeGee (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=edu.shell.freegee_free).
WARNING: You should know that there is a risk with using FreeGee. If you don't plan to use download mode, you're good. But currently, I am without download mode after flashing. Still trying to figure out a way to fix it. System works, recovery works, but I cannot revert to stock at the moment.

OK, let's return to the start.
1. You're sure it's rooted and SU is working? Rootcheck is on the play store and you can use that to check
2. In FreeGee, did you tap on a recovery on the bottom? And did FreeGee freeze on this step? Did you give FreeGee root access/permission?
3. If FreeGee installed a recovery, it won't automatically reboot. Have you attempted to reboot into recovery? If you're not sure if it has installed, I would not recommend going through the hard reset page because if it's not actually installed yet, you would go through a factory reset. You could download an app to boot into recovery though (I.e. CWM ROM manager, TWRP, or quickboot. All free on the play store.)
