Q&A for [RADIO]I337/M/I545/L720/M919<Latest OTA modems>

Got a question for you guys. I currently have an unlocked Verizon i545 Galaxy S4 (all stock) running on the SaskTel network. (a Canadian carrier) I can't seem to get more than 3 bars of service anywhere I go, whereas some of my friend's Galaxy S4 can easily achieve 5 bars in areas where my phone gets 2 or 3 at most. My friend purchased his phone from SaskTel, so I'm guessing he would have a i337 model.
Would it be possible to flash a i337 modem firmware to my i545 device, or do you think I would run into some issues because of the different models?

S4 on Bell, Radio Problems
I'm on radio I337MVLUFNI2 on a S4 from Bell in Canada. I'm trying to update it to work better with lollipop from recovery, but it reboots on the same radio version. The problem I have is on a headset, sound is OK. Without the headset, sound is bad. Either way, reception is just OK out here in Alberta. Ideas?
Also, where would I download the newest radio (the start of the thread for Radios is just listing ones from 2013)

Stock kernel
Hi do you have the stock kernel updated yet for i337mvluamdj yet?

need help to understand this better
I got several i337. Running on 4.4.2.
Towel root allows the root priviliges.
Main purpose for this question is:
I need to get tmobile bands to work on the at&t version
I have tried tutorial for converting i337 to m919. I am successful with the software to be changed but the baseband still shows i337. Regardless of what i have tried i am unsuccessful to get the main network "wind mobile" to work on i337. I see there is a hardware spot where i also have tried soldering the connection on m919 and removing the connec on i337.
Yes i working like crazy to understand this. As for my understanding there has to be a way to make this work since the devices are identical..
ANY HELP WOULD BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED. AND THANKS IN ADVANCE. If i find out the way fully i will post a tutorial that will work for me to help others.
Ps: i have tried the other tutorial on xda abput conversion. But still unlucky to pick up metwork. My guess it is upgraded version of software?!?!?!?!

Would it make much difference in updating the kernal and why? Can u shine some light on what does what as in purposes. And read my last post if you could help

I do believe I have searched but does anyone have links to Odin flashable modems?

So I've installed the baseband version I337MVLUAMK6 for my SGH-1337M (jfltecan, Rogers Canadian) S4. My GPS is not locking. Can anyone PLEASEEEE help?!?! I really need GPS.

Someone will have the latest for Latin America s4 VE I9515L baseband? It would greatly appreciate it.

[Q] Flashing ATT I337 to Stock Android 4.2.2

Hello everyone,
Before I continue... I currently have a Galaxy SII Skyrocket that I've flashed several times using Odin and have rooted in order to reset the custom ROM counter to 0, followed by flashing back to official 4.2.2 via the firmware available on Sammobile. Not saying I'm a technical expert, but if there's instructions on how to do it, I can follow.
My ATT contract is up for upgrade eligibility in the middle of June, and will be ordering the Galaxy S4 when the time comes. I understand the I337 and I9505 are basically the same device, so I9505 firmware can be flashed onto the I337. I've also found the simple instructions on how to unlock your device from AT&T's network.
My question is, is there an available firmware that is stock Android 4.2.2 (no AT&T bloatware or stuff that didn't originally come from Android), basically what will come with the unlocked Galaxy S4 that will be available from Google via the Play Store, that is official (like ROMs found via Sammobile) that can be flashed to the I337 without tripping the custom ROM counter or requiring the device to be rooted? I don't even care if the phone is unlocked... I'll be using it through AT&T's network. I just don't want what Google didn't originally intended Android 4.2.2 to contain on my device.
And if not, which I assume is the answer, is it safe to assume the firmware that will come on the unlocked S4 from Google will be flashable onto the I337 with the abovementioned terms?
I apologize in advance if there is a thread that already answers this question.
Thanks,
Brett
Im looking for sane thing. A base 4.2.2 google goodness without TW, bloatware etc.

It's safe to assume we will be able to flash the Google edition rom but it hasn't been confirmed. Right now the main worry of anyone who doesn't currently own an S4 is a future update that patches Dans Loki exploit. I'm far, far from a dev but I do stalk the R&D thread Adam created about unlocking the bootloader permanently, and I don't see much activity. I don't really know how far they've come or how close they are, and I've got enough common sense to not bug them or ask for eta's.

When some devs get a hold of the google os, I am sure they will port it over for us. I see no reason why we will not be able to run that rom.

[Q] 9500 from afghanistan, any us roms flashable?

OK so i got my 9500(unlocked) when in Afghanistan and it worked great over there, now i come back to the US and there seem to be some quarks to say the least about it running on ATT's network. I started reading and with all the variants of the s4 I'll be honest I'm more confused now than ever before on what I can and can not flash to it. So I guess a good way to put it is using odin can anyone suggest the most compatible/friendly ATT rom for flashing to my s4. Below are hopefully the numbers needed. Sorry if this seems like an easily answered question but the more I read on here about which rom to use the more confused i got.
I9500
Android 4.2.2
Baseband I9500XXUAMDE
Kernel 3.4.5
build JDQ39.I9500XXUAMDE
again thanks for any help

I don't think they will work and you may soft brick your phone if it is a i9500 and you ODIN a US ROM. US S4 is basically a 9505 and I use a lot of International 9595 ROMs on my US phone.

Doubt
Hi, good night,
I live in Brazil. Does anyone of this firmwares works for me?
Thanks
No sound in calls after flashing
I flashed this along with CWM 6.0.4.6 yesterday, and when I was making a call this morning I noticed that the in-call sound was gone. Everything else is working, but there's no sound either in the earpiece, headset or speaker.
Anyone know what might be causing this, and how to fix it?
Flashed the nordic countries, and this is the current versions:
AP: I9506XXUCNG3
CP: I9606XXUCNF3
CSC: I9506NEECNG3
Edit: Solved! Disabling some settings in xposed and rebooting fixed it.

I`m exactly in same situation as you, but I`m pretty sure there`s no another method. I decided to wait for month and then root my i9506.

Exactly the same case here too: upgraded my old S3 to a S4 i9506 black edition last week and now waiting a moment until rooting again for the reasons you mentioned before. But I've always had this thing bothering me while waiting for daring to root: what are we waiting for? Something unexpected and bad happening to the new phone? Just wondering, since I'm not even sure what I'm always waiting for with every new phone I buy even though I know perfectly well that I will need the root sooner or later (preferably sooner).
Also updated to latest -NJ -firmware and working just fine, haven't spotted anything wrong at all after a week of heavy usage.
P. S. This reply doesn't belong in Q/A section I believe, but it's apparently forced there because of my low post count...

Canadian i337m compatible marshmallow roms?

Ok I'm just a little confused.
Canadian i337m compatible marshmallow roms?
Are they jflteatt jfltexx i9505 or something else or all of the above.
(I'm running wamanlite 4.4.2 9505 rom now on my jfltecan I don't think there are any good links for it left, and when I flash a new one there will be no going back)
I know there are others confused out there as well..
If you are using marshmallow and you have flashed the rom to your Canadian s4 and all is working great.
Please post a link to that rom here
If you needed some other kernel or file to flash in to make it work
Please post that info with links also.
Thanks for any info you can provide.
(And bite me Samsung att and others for locking so many U.S. carrier boot loaders which has reduced development)
The s4 should work with the 9505, jflteatt, and jfltexx ROMs; however, editing the updater script may be required to get the ROM to install.
Hahaha - you will likely get yelled at to use the search bar and to read the stickies with these sorts of questions, but I was a noob once too, so here's an olive branch. (that being said, please do use these in the future!)
Your i337m will be cross-compatible with ALL GS4 devices (at least to my knowledge). I've had one now for a little over 4 months and have explored most of the options available to the Canadian variant. I have run everything from 4.2.2 to 5.1.1 on my device successfully, but you will have the most luck where the developer indicates that the build is for jflte devices in general, not one in particular.
Furthermore, the GS4 or ANY device sporting a Qualcomm chipset can use a modified modem file to access WCDMA/HSPA bands (ie. WIND, or T-Mobile).
Again, the search bar is your friend here! Also try Google, or Duckduckgo (google will tailor your results, sometimes in a way which will actually hinder your search).
If all else fails, send me a PM and I will assist you wherever possible.
Best of luck!

Just wondering what modem to use. Do I use the latest modem for I337M or can I use modem for I9505. I live in Canada and have always used the modems for the I337M model. The latest modem is PA1, I think for the I9505.
Hey tvsite,
Modems for this phone in Canada puzzled me for quite some time, however, this is what I did to make things work.
--> Downgraded from 5.1.1 CM 12.1 Optimized via odin using "I337MVLUAMDJ_I337MOYAAMDJ_VMC.zip" (http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/14412/I337MVLUAMDJ_I337MOYAAMDJ_VMC/)to net me 4.2.2 (note: your wifi or calling WILL NOT WORK).
You may have even better luck using the SaskTel firmware at this point, although I have not tried it yet. (http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/14418/I337MVLUAMDJ_I337MOYAAMDJ_BWA/)
--> Do the AWS mod, unlocking etc.
--> Upgraded to 4.4.1 using "I337MVLUFNC1_880525_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI.tar"
https://mega.co.nz/#!h8pTnCZS!t2-PiSb5W9ZyNp7fct7WD_Pg_dnc-eZqtMvpsuKv_9Q
--> I forget what modem I was on at this point, however, after letting OTA do its thing, I wound up at 5.0.1, OH1 modem, and AWS still enabled.
Good luck!

I flashed the OK1 modem which is posted, here, which is for the I337M model. I believe this is country code Mexico. This modem is working fine. Have you tried flashing a I9505 modem using Odin. I tried and it said "failed", so I may have answered my own question---that you cannot flash modems over different model numbers even though its the same phone, ie. S4
