I was using SoftKeyZ to get the android L navigation bar without any problems but i decided to revert to the default softkeys to upgrade to 4.4.3. I tried the backup and my tablet rebooted without the navigation bar and status bar. It seem like it is aa common problem with this app so beware. Id be very thankful if some one could upload an unmodified systemUi apk and odex file.

Hello over the pass few days I have flashed the Android Nand Rom on my HTC HD2 T-mobile USA device. Now I would like to know if there is any way I can change the icons on my device?
When I had the CHT before Android I use to use icon changer and Csmi
which work GREAT is there a way for me to do the same with this build of Android?
I hear people talking about Rooting there devices but I don't fully understand this process do I need to Root to be able to customize my devices know? If rooting my device is what I need to do to accomplish customizing my icons please tell me how to do this and post any helpful links to download any files needed to complete the process.
Any help would be great at this point thanks so much you guys are the best
Most rom here are rooted, if not there is z4root.
Even it's rooted, it is not easy to change the icon like wm 6.5, you have to modify the apk file, but you can change the short cut icon easily (the icon that show on desktop, not the icon shows in app drawer)
Flashing MIUI ROM, that only easy way to change the icon in apps drawer that I knew, it change the icons thru theming, and you can modify the theme.

Hello yes I just found out I had Super User on my device but I still don't know how to use it. What is the apps drawer? and how do I go about changing the short cut icons. what and how to change the modify the apk fille also. sorry for all the questions. Thanks so much for your help
Use BetterCut or Folder Organizer can change the icon on your home screen but not in apps drawer.
I'm sure you don't want to use modify apk rout to change icon.
The easy way is flashing MIUI ROM.
Below is example of application drawer.
m using mdj cyanogenmod 7 v2.6...how do i check whether my phone is rooted or not..??
Open up a terminal app ('terminal emulator' on market for example) and type:
su
If you don't get any error msg'es, you're rooted.
Search for LauchnerPro (my fav.) or ADW Lauchner to get the possibility to easy change dock icons or shortcuts on homescreen.
if you want to change the icons shown in the app drawer you have to use e.g bettercut.
Yeah... I did something pretty dumb.
I just got Titanium Backup, and read about that the status bar is messing with WiFi tether, so instead of freezing it like the thing said I wanted to see what would happen if I pressed convert to user app. I can't find it anymore, and the status bar is gone.
So heres what I'm wondering. To get it working again would I need to make a backup in Titanium Backup (without "seeing" what other buttons do) then flash back to Froyo, and reupgrade then reapply the root? Or what I'm hoping, will it be as easy as taking another DX's systemUI.apk and putting it into /system/apps through root explorer?
Currently on DROID X Gingerbread .605 rooted. Haven't done anything crazy or something to it, other than deleting the status bar...

I have the same problem, but i did it when trying to change dpi on Acer Iconia b1-710 where it can do very bad things..
I think that just SystemUI backup in Titanium Backup can help, i searched on the internet, but nobody wants to help
I have locked bootloader.
Now i a using home and back buttons as Tasker scene and notifications with Super Status Bar and low battery warning is Tasker scene too.. and i can't connect device to PC bcs it is part of SystemUI too, the question if i want to connect it to pc.
And somebody has told me that just putting SystemUI.apk into system/app or where it is, should help, after reboot, but it didn't work :/

Use 'GMD Hide Soft Keys' or some other app you can find on play store. There's plenty o them.

You don't need an app, If you're rooted go into your system folder, then edit your build.prop and add the line qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 at the very bottom. Then save and reboot. Your softkeys will be gone. I recommend installing Ultimate Dynamic Navbar after that, because it allows you to set it up to where you can make the softkeys popup through swiping from the bottom edge, and then they go back into hiding.

did this as well but after adding this line "qemu.hw.mainkeys=1" it revert back, have you tried this?
some says this is not applicable in official 4.3
some info
-nexus 4 (rooted,all in stock 4.3)
qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 works fine for me on stock jwr66v.
GMD hide bar works on rooted stock 4.3.
I'll try to edit the file as mentioned but if it works how to revert to stock? Placing 0 instead of 1? Can't remove the navbat while not knowing how to get it back.

Remove the line altogether. But before adding the line to remove the softkeys, make sure you have an alternate started, like LMT

Were you able to save the edited build.prop file? Make sure you have given the editor root access with rw permissions, then edit the build.prop and reboot phone
Yeah LMT is cool...but I've just downloaded ultimate dynamic navbar was playing with it a few minutes ago ..brilliant idea that app lol...the pro version is also for free here at xda and payed at playstore haha
Will catch you after reboot

Phone Crashes After Adding Line to build.prop
I attempted to add the "qemu.hw.mainkeys=1" line to my build.prop using Root Explorer and Build Prop Editor and when I reboot my phone constantly shows a message saying that my systemui has stopped working. Then after my phone goes to sleep, it does not turn back on.
Any one know what could be causing this?
I am using PIE through an Xposed module but I keep getting the below message and was told that if I add this line the message will disappear.
Hi after the update too kitkat on my Galaxy s4 I can't find my apps witch I have hide in jellybean. How can I restore those icons since Samsung have removed the option too hide and unhide icons in 4.4.2.

Hi, is it possible to have the stock status bar, without rooting the phone?
The emui statusbar is incompatible with some application as cpu stats, infact the cpu status is not displayed and the phone displays the default static icon of the program.
Could you help me
It's not possible w/o root. Heck, even without cyanogenmod you won't be able to get the stock one.
Maybe you can mess around with xposed somehow, but I doubt it.
If you have root and Xposed running, you could try the module "flat style bar indicators". You can modify and arrange every statusbar icon to your own wishes and the setup is very selfexplanatory.
I have the same problem. So the only walktaround is to root and install Xposed? Did anyone tried this and got it fixed?
EDIT
i've install "flat style bar indicators" with xposed but it did not work at all , like "gravity box" too
after a few wipes and reinstalls the "flat style bar indicators" works fine and gravity too

On my device it worked without any problems, also most of the Gravity-Box tweaks are working. I've got the xposed v86 installed on my VNS-L31.
