not sure if this goes here or on the accessories thread but i put it here because the accessories thread is for all devices not just tmobile. if it doesnt belong here sorry a mod can move it.
So i bought my note 4 a couple of hours ago and the sales lady told me that it comes with free accessories. you can get a case, a screen protector, a car charger, and speakers. All you pay is the sales tax of each item. I just chose some JBL bluetooth speakers since i had already purchased the case and screen protector from amazon.
WARNING THE ACCESSORIES ARE NOT ACTUALLY FREE IT IS ADDED TO YOUR INSTALLMENT PLAN.
Say what? Is this at an official T-Mobile store?
She may have mislead you so id be careful lol. My rep told me I can get the exact same accessories and just pay the sales tax but the value of the item will be added to your tmobile bill. So you paid the $8 or whatever today but your next bill may have the $100 speakers on it
I have a feeling that sales lady screwed up. Last phone I bought in store came with 50% off 1 accessory. That was an S5.

i think you might be right. $749 for the phone and 99.84 for the speaker purchase total was $930 i already paid the taxes for the phone $71.23 and for the speaker $9.48. I asked her if it was free and she said yes. I should probably change this to a warning post right? lol did you get any of them? im going to complain to customer service.

yes she did i just reviewed the receipt.
I did get free car charger, screen protector and S-View flip cover.

I was in T-Mobile over the weekend to get my girl an S5, she also told me that there was a promo where I could get free accessories and just had to pay sales tax. I spent more than you did on accessories, so I hope she did not screw me.
Her explanation was that it would be a deducted rate on the bill which would make it $0
I was very confused and did not want to get even a single item, but she made it sound like I was an idiot not to... I probably asked her 50 times to be sure I would not get charged more than the sales tax.
I still have not gotten my next bill, but needless to say I'm quite nervous.
When I watched her ring it all up, in the display it read something to the effect of:
Headphones: 129.99
Headphones: -129.99
Battery Pack: 59.99
Battery Pack: -59.99
So in essence it seem to just bring every item to 0, but still charged me tax.... I honestly have no idea
---------- Post added at 06:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:48 PM ----------
I can confirm now that she screwed us. On the receipt paperwork she totaled all equipment (phone + accessories) as part of the EIP (Equipment installment plan) which basically just breaks down everything into 24 payments. She X'ed out the $36.69 and put $25.40, which is what the original EIP for the SG5 is.
However...
On my online bill it has the $36.69 EIP as a whole including accessories. SO either she is an idiot, messed up, or simply wanted more sells and made up the lie. Regardless I'm angry...

I just got off the phone with tmobile support. The guy couldn't really do much over the phone. Sooo.... I called the Tmobile store I bought the stuff at. He said that yes they should have made adjustments to my EIP in a way it should make it all add up to the same as if the accessories weren't there. I now have to go into that store for the guy to correct which kind of sucks. The reason it sucks is there are a crap ton of Tmobile stores around Chicago and we just happened to stop at one pretty far North of me while we were visiting some friends. However, if I don't get this fixed I'd be paying 12 bucks more a month for 24 months which would blow!!!

so the guy is 100% sure its supposed to be free?
i called and some dude answered and he said yes its free but i told him it shows they charged me for it. he asked who helped me but i dont remeber the girls nameso igave him the saled rep# on the receipt and he said its not showing up there. he doucted i bought it there so i told him i would go in person to show him.
so i just got back and they didnt want to give me my money back because all they sell is bundles and i signed and agreed to the $35 monthly payments for 24 months. i told him the sales person told me it was free and she was there and denied it. i told him my brother was there as a witness when she told me and he was just rude and said to give him the phone and the speaker back and we would forget about it (they would have charged me a $50 restocking fee). So yea guys beware of that scam. That manager was not only rude to me but to his employees too. We argued in front of everyone and people were just like wtf. I got the girl to give me his name so i am reporting him.
The guy told me the same thing today but in the end he assured to me it's going to be on my EIP. So you need to make sure dude. Reps always try their best to sell accessories because it gives them a good commission.
Costco gives you a free car charger car mount. Best of all regardless of your credit, you pay 0 down. Not even the taxes.

Pretty sure the Reps trying to get you to buy accessories goes on with all carriers. At least it did with Sprint. I have a few T-Mobile guys that I only go to. One guy at a T-Mobile store is really good at his job and he hooked me up when I had a issue.

yeah but they shouldnt tell you it free and charge you for it and then deny the whole thing when you go back. The manager argued with me that she never told me that. i told him he wasnt even there so how would he know. I had my brother as a witness. So they wouldnt take it back because I signed the agreement. So i called 611 and the lady told me she couldnt do anything because it was an in-store purchase they would have to refund me at the store i bought it. So i told her they didnt want to because the manager said i signed the agreement. She said it doesnt matter because i was told one thing and they did another and thats a breach of contract. So she told me to call that managers boss to explain to him the situation and also report the manager because he was being rude. The girl even said sorry about that we have to deal with him everyday. He told me all they sell is bundles and i told him no one ever told me that when i went to buy the phone.. He was so loud everyone was jut staring at us.
well, yeah, there is no place in retail for ANY employee to yell at ANY customer, unless you are stealing something or being abusive to them.
when they tried to tell me the same nonsense yesterday, I asked them the DIRECT question, of is it actually FREE, NO CHARGE? Of course at that point they gave me the same non sense about just "Add it to your monthly bill", and its LIKE FREE..I laughed, and told them I buy my accessories on Amazon for less than 1/2 of what they charge, and "no thank you".

i told the manager that ti could get the speaker cheaper at amazon. His reply and i quote "Then you should have bought the phone on amazon too". I just called them and dont know if i was on hold for 30 min or if they had hung up because there was complete silence no waiting music lol. I hung up and calld 12 minutes later and no answer even after i let it ring for like a full minute. So i hung up and called again they handed the phone over to a different manager than yesterday. I asked her for the district managers phone number and she asked why and i told her and she said they needed my info and they would foward it to him. I dont know why they wouldnt take the speakers back if the agreement says i have 14 days to return them.
i also asked him what if i wouldnt of gotten the speaker in the first place and he said they wouldnt of had sold me the phone because it is a bundle. all they sell is bundles but i was never told that. and bundles are meant so that the total of the items are cheaper but i got no discount for buying a bundle.

ok here goes just bought the phone and got it for $372.00. i checked with t-mobile and google twice. U have to set-up a new line and buy the phone for $179.00 and then cancel with-in 14 days (buyers remorse period). then u keep the phone and pay the new EFT fee of $150.00. the phone comes out to be $372.00 bc those cheap ****s tax you on $529.00 not $179.00. but i have checked with tmobile and google this works i even told them what i was going to do. i am on a family plan but it is in my dads name that is why i am able to setup an account in my name. hope this helps

You sure you don't have to return the phone to T-Mobile? Subsidized phones have to be returned or the ETF has to be paid to the carrier (plus google's $150 equipment recovery fee) if the contract is canceled. Feel free to try it, but I would suspect you get charged for the phone.

Well I just talk to t-mobile once again and they insured me that if i cancel my service within 14 day i will not pay anything. And Google will only charge me the $150 called and made sure of that as well. Also T-mobile noted my account about what is going on. But when i say cheap ****s ha ha i mean you can not upgrade to the phone on a family plan and they are also taxing me on the retail price instead of the purchase price. I will let u guys know what happens

If you said "I plan to get it, then cancel, and then use the phone on my family plan" then that would make sense as they have already been helpful for people who are trying to get these phones on their family plans at less than full price - though I think there are possibly even cheaper ways of doing it that don't involve paying another $150 to Google.
If you said "If I cancel within 14 days will I pay anything?" then they may have said "No" assuming that you would be returning the phone to google which are the standard terms of cancelling under the buyer's remorse clause.
But, did you call T-Mobile and say "I am going to order this phone, then cancel the contract within 14 days and I will *not* be returning the phone to Google"? If so, then they should have told you that they will charge the $200 unless you return the phone.
The entire reason Google dropped the "equipment recovery fee" from $350 to $150 was because of this $200 that T-Mobile collects from you. You can avoid both by returning the phone within 14 days. You can avoid neither by cancelling and keeping the phone, no matter what the time frame is.
Hey flarbear i told tmobile that i am not returning the phone, and they said that they have nothing to do with the phone bc i bought it form Google not them. I mean i have called them 4 times to make sure of this. I don't understand why everyone on this site is getting mad about this if this works it is good for all. also in the term of sale it says to connect the provider to get their termination fee and i am going by that.
I got mine for $330 because I have my own plan and don't live off my parents.
Just saying, what you're planning on doing constitutes fraud. Something that is a rather serious offense, and if found out could lead to much more than that extra ~$140 that you're "saving". Also, as part of buyers remorse, you must return the phone in order to qualify. And even if Tmo isn't selling you the phone directly, a partner is. And since Tmo is the subsidized partner, they're even more willing to charge you extra fees since they make money off the fees and plans, not the phones.
On a different note, if they are truly, without confusion, maliciously deceiving you, then its a whole different ball game.
ps. Your horrific English may have also confused them.
Actually its not fraud. Everything he is doing is totally legal.
It may be against the spirit of the deal google/T-Mobile are offering, but there is absolutely nothing illegal about it. Which part would you say is illegal and which law specifically would relate to it?
It would be fraud if he were buying the phone and saying it was stolen when it wasnt. I would be fraud if he lied to T-Mobile and said that the phone was broken and that's why he is cancelling. In this case he has a right to pay the ETF and terminate early as per the terms of the sale. He is not obligated to disclose why, or even enter into the sale more inclined to keep it than not.
Google charges you a recovery fee if you don't return the phone. That brings you above the price of buying it unsubsidized.
I assume you'll be cancelling your credit card or whatever payment you made with it.
Way to go thief.
google's terms of sale said:
For example, if the full price of the Nexus handheld device without service plan was $529 USD and the price you paid for the Nexus handheld device was $179 USD with a service plan, the Equipment Recovery Fee you pay will be $350 USD in the event you cancel within the first 120 days of carrier service.

I don't understand why you guys are getting mad and attacking his character when you have a problem with his method. He is trying to test out a potential loophole. That is not illegal or fraud, just trying to beat the system.
we have these things called casinos for such endeavors..
While I find the action morally questionable at best, given the changes in Google's terms of sale for the Nexus One it would probably work. You are entering a contract with a premeditated plan to immediately break it to your benefit. It is at the very least a violation of good faith terms but this may or may not be actionable. Even if it is actionable the chances of either party (T-Mo or Google) bothering is not high.
Prior to the changing of the wording there was little doubt you would pay the full price, but they changed the terms due to the outrage at the "double dipping" return fee.
I have no issue with the OP, I just found it rather ironic considering the thread topic that he was upset google had the audactiy to charge him tax on the full retail price and that they were being cheap. I still don't think this would work considering the whole google "if you change/cancel your plan within 120 days you'll be charged the full price of the phone" deal, but if they've changed the wording I say go for it and be the guinea pig.

You should look into this again. Google lowered this fee from the original $350 down to $150. When it was at $350 it was obvious that you would be paying more, but now that they have it at $150 it is no longer so obvious.
Today I received a letter from Asurion stating that my phone was not "Tmobile authorized device" making it ineligible for the extended warranty, so I called Asurion to find out what it does cover. My understanding from the first rep was that they replace with comperable hardware, I've heard others state that you receive a MyTouch, and was told to speak with Claims in order to find out what hardware they speak of.
When talking with the lady from claims I was told that they absolutely replace the phone with a Nexus One or, when there are none, I am to buy one and receive a payment of the difference between the cost and my deductible. I told her that this was totally contradictory of what I was just told, and to make a note on my account of what she stated.
I am wondering if anyone has any experience with such an issue and if that person could shed some light.

asurion will not give you the extended warrenty for this device which is why you pay 4.79 instead of 5.99 . That just basically means if you need a replacement, no matter what happened, you'll have to pay the 130 deductible.
In my past experience with them, I always have gotten the same phone if it was in stock, and if it wasn't, then i got upgraded to whatever was top of the line then for only the price of the deductible so I wouldnt worry about them.
Asurion actually is the one company in the cell phone business that doesnt try to bend you over and (you know where this is going ) in my opinion

Thats good to hear. What happened to your device?
I would also like to know what happened. What was the process like getting your new Nexus? I have the Asurion insurance too and I want to know what I'm in for. I don't mind paying $130 for a brand new phone, as long as it's brand new! Especially if I don't have to send in the old device...
i'm still not sure why people will pay more for lesser service on their phone insurance.. call any major insurance company and ask for a personal articles policy, tell 'em it's for your phone, and you want $600 coverage. cost you between $30 and $40 a year with no deductible, and they just write you a check in the event that ANYTHING happens to your phone.

Amen! Screw Asurion. Just call up whoever you have your auto insurance through and if they don't offer insurance, call State Farm. No deductible, no questions, $30 a year.
They have nexus one in stock now. I just got mine. Had to wait 2 weeks for them to get nexus one in stock.

Not to put a damper on things, but I work for TMO care in an un-named higher position. Feel free to call, but don't expect that to be the case. There isn't an official "offer" like that going on and if it has happened, it has been a judgment call by the rep and/or sup. But speaking from experience, this kind of thing is rare.
Just want to avoid banging heads against a brick wall.

Thanks for clearing things up. I know it's the CSR's call, but it has worked for several people on the T-Mo forums, but obviously, it's hit or miss. Anyway, it's worth a try regardless.
what other deals/benefits can we get from the t-mob?
If you've been with T-Mobile for a long time you would have a much easier time getting preferred features.
good chunk of change for u vibrant users!
Been with tmo for like 7 years and they wouldnt sell me for $165
I did this on the relese day... Worked. I did have to call in twice and as I was nearly out of contract they knew I could walk.
When I called on July 13th to get an official confirmation on the release of the Vibrant, I also wanted to disable a 3rd line I had that is no longer in use. the CSR transferred me to another dept (which I later learned to be the Loyalty dept). I told them to disconnect my 3rd line and the reason was that it was no longer in use by my cousin who changed carriers.
The Loyalty Rep was trying to convince me to leave the line open. And seeing that I was interested in the Vibrant, he would be able to give it to me for 99 because that line was out of contract. Since my main line was out of contract, I asked him about that and he said that under my account, any of my 3 lines was eligible for a loyalty discount, but it is only available over the phone.
I called on the 15th and they had to verify what was entered in the notes for the loyalty discount.
I got mine for 99. I cited that I can get it from Amazon, Android And Me, etc. for that price.
I was lucky enough for T-mobile to give me the vibrant for $200 even though I just got a new plan with them around 3 months ago. So I don't think I'll be pushing my luck.
Yeah, I got the vibrant for $200, the new contract price even though I was on my previous contact for only 12 months.

Loyalty refused to credit me 100$ even though I was out of contract before my upgrade, and threatened to leave for Sprint. But they lowered my monthly bill by 20$.

That'll work. They just saved you $480 over the course of your contract. Not a bad deal, and a whole lot better than $100 credit.
I decided to give CS a call, mentioned I was an Amazon Prime customer and Amazon has it for $99. Ended up getting a $100 credit to my account! Thanks T-Mobile!
called cust serv and it was a no go bc I bought in store.. I tried tho...
A few weeks ago, I placed a call to T-mobile customer loyalty personnel, first line of defend declined to match Costco $100 price. I escalated the issue and politely requested to speak to the supervisor, a few minutes later I got T-mobile to agree on $149 with free 2 days shipping & no activation fee.
I have 8 lines with T-mobile and have been a loyal customer for over 5 yrs. T-mobile CS was fantastic and cordial during the "negotiation".

Try again... I bought it in-store too.
All this puts you on a 2-year contract right? Even More Plus won't get any of these deals?
A friend of mine and myself got into a bit of a disagreement last night over bestbuy etfs. Long story short he got a phone from bb cancelled the service and kept the phone. Will bb come after him with a etf?
I know sprint didn't charge him a etf but will bb come after him for a etf! I made a $75 bet with him that bb would come after him with a seperate etf. But he showed me his receipt/contract paperwork and other than the info about sprint etf, there's NOTHING that states anything about bb etfs. And he paid with cash so its not like bb can just charge his credit card. I searched google and everything and really didnt find any info on this. I know companies like wirefly, letstalk etc charge their own etf if you cancel service and don't return the device. Which they even indicate when you go through their application process and is also indicated in their paperwork.
So my question is, am I out of $75? Did I just lose this bet against this fool...lol? If someone have any insight into this, it'll help me out a lot. I'd love to show him some post that bb is going to come after him. So let me know what you all think.

I believe you lost yourself 75 bucks .... as far as I can remember when you purchase an item from a store that authorized to sale the item you are only under contract with the item provider.
Bestbuy typically give you instant rebates at the register because they send their rebates directly to the manufacturers and not the provider. Hence it is no lost to them only the provider who takes the hit

Wow..are you serious. I kinda thought that I may lose the bet because there was nothing mentioned in the paperwork about a bb etf and if it was I didn't find it. I thought bb was just like wirefly and letstalk.com when it comes to cancelling service. But like I said sprint cancelled the service with no questions asked. Oh well...if I lose, I'll pay up...lol.

from my knowledge you don't sign a contract with BB, just sprint
Are you your friend's personal accountant or money manager? I mean even if he gets an ETF all he has to do is say he didn't and collect your money lol

Sorry dude but as an employee of bb mobile I can tell you that you just lost $75. An etf is strictly through the carrier. After the contract is signed we have no part in it.

ETF
If anything he will get a Sprint etf. It wont show up for a month or 2 as was the case when I switched From At&t. Best buy is in the cell phone business, not the carrier business which subsidizes the cost of the phone so they cannot charge an etf
Clarify the bet with him because I'm sure Sprint didn't give him a hassle about canceling but he will get a separate bill from Sprint for the remainder of his contract. Around $200 for early cancellation.
You said he paid cash. did he pay the whole amount or contract price, and did he cancel in the first 30 days? Not sure if BB does does the same but the store I got mine from told me if I canceled without returning the phone they would charge me an additional $250 for it.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Not sure how Best Buy works, but I know that where I work, if you sign a contract and cancel, and DON'T bring the phone back to us, we charge a portion of the total cost.. I can't remember the amount, but that's how we do it..
Well what he did was call sprint and cancelled the service. Sprint didn't hassle him because he's well within his 30 days so they cancelled it with no questions asked. They said that he wouldn't be charge any SPRINT etf. However, he will have to pay for what he used prior to cancelling the service.
I am over his house watching the football game right now and had a chance to look at the paperwork again. And I just don't see anything that indicates a bb etf. Everything I see is in regards to sprint etf, that's it. I just thought that bb is like wirefly and letstalk. That is you have to return the device within a certain time frame if you cancel service or you'll be charged their etf. But I'm starting to think that's not the case.
Plus when I bought the Nexus S and tried to cancel my service with T-mobile, I tried to cancel my service like 3 days after I got the phone and I had to go to bb so that they can give tmobile some code that informs them that I returned the device. Sprint doesn't have a system like that. Which I know because I bought an Epic from Radioshack like 2 months ago and I returned it like 2 weeks later. However, before I took it back to radioshack, I called sprint to cancel the line that the Epic was on and they cancelled it with no questions asked again. Radioshack gave me my money back and I went to Sprint and bought me a brand new Evo for full price, I believe $500.
Oh well, I'll be paying $75 this Friday. thanks everyone for all your responses.

He paid contract price. But even if they told him about a possible bb etf if he were to cancel service and not return the device, its not indicated anywhere in the paperwork. They gave him copies of everything he signed and and not one indicates a bb etf.

This is an interesting scenario, especially if the device was paid for by cash.
Although the receipt has his sprint info, I don't think BB can go after sprint to collect anything, as they are an authorized third party seller in this case.
Now, there is this clause on the receipt under SERVICE AND SERVICE OPTIONS
....Thank you for purchasing your sprint phone and service at Best Buy. If you wish to change or cancel your Service please return with your phone to a best buy store.
As stated previously, BB is not in the carrier business, they are merely a third party reseller of sprint products. Also, nowhere on the receipt is anything else stipulated regarding cancellation of service and potential fees that may be charged [by best buy].
So, this may very well fall through the cracks.
Btw, some other resellers such as amazon and wirefly do have clauses that say if you cancel service within 180 days, you will be charged additional etf's outside of what the carrier may charge you.
ymmv.

I believe Sprint will send a bill, and if he does not pay they will lock the ESN.
I can't speak for Best Buy since I've never worked there but I know Radioshack (and CompUSA before they went out of business) charge their own etfs if the service was cancelled within 90 days without the device being returned. At CompUSA you would get a separate paper contract about this additional etf. At Radioshack you get an electronic contract that shows up on the Verifone credit card device that requires the customer to read and sign that mentions this separate etf. I'm not sure if this is also mentioned on the receipt or not, I've never actually read it.

This is something Sprint has recently changed. Anytime a new account (within 30 days) is going to cancelled, the phone must be returned to the original point of purchase, meaning if he purchased it at BB, Sprint will not cancel the service, Best Buy has to contact NSS and have them process the 30-day cancellation. In your particular instance, if someone at Sprint cancelled them, he got lucky. In normal instances, your friend would not be allowed to cancel over the phone, meaning if he kept the phone past 30 days he'd be under contract with Sprint and then your friend would be charged $200 ETF if he chose to cancel or keep receiving Sprint bills until his account was disconnected and sent to collections.
Your friend, was really lucky to have spoken with a new hire that mistakingly cancelled the account (or line).
So I called to cancel my pre-order from the Sprint website since there are other retailers out there who are offering sweeter deals. Sprint has been unable to cancel the order (merely an hour after I placed the order) and are now telling me I am stuck.
I'm fairly surprised that in this day and age customers cannot cancel an order for an item that supposedly is weeks/months away from shipping.
So the overwhelming lesson here is - don't order anything from Sprint. That was the worst buying experience I think I have ever had.
Well, there's United airlines but they are in a class of fail all by themselves.
i had no issue preordering

Okay, but did you cancel your pre-order? The OP had a bad experience canceling, not the original pre-ordering.

I just ordered for wirefly and save $50, F*ck Sprint!
i had this issue when the OG evo came out. I pre ordered it from sprint the day of pre orders. 2 days later they announced that best buy was getting the white evo.
I right away tried canceling my evo pro order from sprint and they wouldnt let me. I waited about 2 weeks and called back and canceled it with no problem.
I think you should wait a few days then call them again to cancel the pre order. I think at 1st its so crazy with pre orders and stuff so give them a break.
I called to cancel a few hours after my order. Had to go through 3 people but he finally did it. Got a lot of "Well we will you have see if that can be canceled" blah blah. They had no problem charging my cc the second I clicked to preorder for an item not yet available, how is canceling that so hard? Anyway, got it cancelled and ordered though wirefly with cheaper/better insurance. Sadly I forgot to go through fatwallet for cash back.
what was the total cost of the wirefly pre order???
my order from sprint came out to be 235.74
maybe i should cancel my sprint pre order and get it from wirefly. do they ship the day it comes out???
I preordered online and then found the Wirefly deal.
Had to call in but was able to cancel the order and get my eligibility status reset and order from Wirefly, which went flawlessly and ended up being closer to $75 cheaper as Wirefly didn't charge taxes to my area.
Sprint representative did say my money would be tied up for about 10 days before being credited back. He also mentioned that there was no way they could match the price even though I didn't even mention anything about that.
It wasn't a difficult process for me at all. Hopefully Wirefly will have the phone to me within a reasonable timeframe around the 18th. I don't mind missing it for a few days if it saved me $75.

Mine was $149.99 even but as I said in another post, I wasn't charged any sales tax.
Bestbuy is pre-ordering as well. They give you $50 if you pre-order and if you trade in your OG Evo, they'll give you an additional $50

Wow... Does that mean they will charge your card when you receive the phone? And the phone will ultimately cost $100? If so then sweet... Glad I didn't jump on the Sprint preorder today... thanks guys!
unfortunately I jumped on the Sprint pre-order and now they refuse to cancel my order. I called 3 times and escalated and was told order is too far along on their process and cannot be cancelled, even though they said it hasn't shipped nor do they know when it will. I'm so pissed at them, I know its B.S excuse not to cancel my order. in any event I will wait get the phone and then return, this way it will cost them even more money for shipping and return, and then buy from somewhere else. I told them they prefer to do that than cancel order and they didn't care.....and they wonder why companies loose money
Wirefly is also giving a good price on pre-oders $149 ( $50 off) and Amazon is giving $50 off as well.
