[q] remove towelroot and get back to stock? - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I believe I need to remove TowelRoot to get my phone to function properly again. I really loved having towel root but somethings are not right about my note3. This weird behavior started about a month ago. I had been using towel root without any issues for about 4-5 months|! I noticed that when ever I connected my Note 3 to any computer, the usb notification would not show up on my phone. It would charge but I had no way to access files on my phone thru any pc.
Also my phone would not ring or vibrate when I received a call. So I am looking to remove towel root and go back to stock in hopes that it would fix my issues, then hopefully reapply towel root to get back the functionality i want. I realize that I may not be able to get towel root to work again, and that is a chance |I am willing to take. but I need my phone to ring and get access via usb when I connect to any of my desktops.
The only items installed after towel root were the Xposed installer and the following modules:
Allow Long SMS
Blurred System UI
Enable Call Recording
Fake ID fix
GoSMS Module
HideNoPasswords
Instragram Downloader
Keepchat
Restore Input Method animations
Vine Downloader
Wanam Exposed
Wi-Fi--Pwd
So If I remove Towel Root would I be able to perform a factory reset with out any issues?
Any help would surely be appreciated!!!!

I believe it could be one of the Xposed modules causing your problems...I recommend you try uninstalling them and see if it clears up. If you want to go completely back to stock...see this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2483380

Uninstall call recording because it is an option in wanam already

[Q] I caused problems with updates and other general issues

I will save you the details of what I was thinking and why. But I rooted through Kingo and using nobloat I uninstalled a handful of apps, mainly what I saw listed as safe to remove. Then I had to do a factory reset on my phone and I did it without thinking and now everything I blocked is gone.
When it first came back up I had no touchwiz or Samsung keyboard. I had to plug in an external keyboard and install Nova Launcher before I could even use my home screen.
So I'm back up on a non-rooted phone (removed Kingo root) with my knox not tripped. However it fails to install updates. I have no warranty left on this device.
Is there any way to get ota updates to work again or did I need it up to badly? I have also lost kies so I think that eliminates all other ways to update the phone. I have android 4.3
Should I just leave well enough alone? Is there as way to get this phone back to pristine? Should I even be concerned with future updates? Do I just figure out how to properly root this device and install a 4.4.2 rom?
Thoughts and suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Any temp unroot solution for S4? (4.4.2)

Does anyone know of a temporary unroot solution that works on an S4 with Android 4.4.2? I'm trying to run the Three Intouch app and Rootcloak/RootCloak Plus don't do the trick for me.
what i'm doing now works...but it's kind of long winded.....good solution if you want TEMP ROOT, but usually NOT ROOT. Maybe not so good the other way around, but it will work still.
1 - root with towelroot
2 - install SuperSU from PlayStore and attempt to open and update binary (it may fail)
3 - reboot and open SuperSU again, if it again asks to update binary it will work this time, reboot once more).
4 - set up your options in SuperSU (e.g. no notification, trust system user etc).
5 - do whatever you need to do with root
6 - to UNROOT just choose "Full Unroot" option within SuperSU app, THEN also uninstall towelroot.
7 - Reboot and you'll be UN rooted and apps like SkyGo etc will work perfectly.
8 - If you need to re-root, repeat the process from step 1.

Thanks. I'm already rooted with CF-Auto Root but will bear this in mind. I was hoping for something I could run from a command line which would temporarily disable root while I wanted to run the app.
Yeah, I'm not sure that any of these really work well. It seems that some apps work fine using the temp unroot/rootcloak/hide root solutions, but any apps that are not working with those need a full unroot before they will play ball. At least until geohot comes along and makes a magic one button root toggle (which of course will also reset Knox trip back to 0x0)

I did see someone on a message board who managed to get the app working with RootCloak/Cydia, but don't know which phone/OS he was using
interesting......if you find out, be sure to post back, as this app is the main reason why i need to stay unrooted, most other apps i care about work either with root or while root is hidden.

[Q] towel root phone crashing

I rooted my phone using towel root, everything seemed fine until it started randomly crashing. Now the crashing happens like this, the screen will freeze (with like weird tearing) then either restart or stay frozen. The only root app I use is wifi tether router. I did notice supersu will fail to update the binaries. Not sure if that could be a cause.
My question is how do I unroot it. So I can at least attempt any kind of fix. I'm still under warranty.
Can anyone help me at all? Please

A thorough way to unroot and reset everything is to Odin back to stock and then do a factory reset. The stock tar can be found here.

I was able to get supersu to work again, could I do an unroot through that even if I used towelroot?

There is an unroot option in SuperSU (although I've never done it so I don't know if it actually unroots or just cleans up things to allow a clean unroot. The other thing I'm not sure it does is restore Knox which is something that will be checked for by the manufacturer). If you're taking your phone back or sending it in under warranty you probably should make sure you uninstall anything you need root for prior to unrooting, but if you're on a custom rom or want to make sure everything is back to factory (including Knox) I would recommend doing what I suggested in my last post.
Same Problem
Same problem as OP. I had a Note 3 originally that I took the update to 4.4.2 and used Towelroot and everything was fine. I recently broke the bejesus out of my Note 3 and got a replacement under the warranty. I used Towelroot on the new Note 3 and I am getting random freezing and a weird line that appears across the screen once it freezes. Sometimes it will reboot others I need to pull the battery.
What is happening? I am now back to stock and want to root again. Anyone have a solution to this?

Xposed Framework Problem - Alcatel OneTouch Pop C3 4033A

Less than a year ago I was messing around with my Alcatel OneTouch Pop C3 phone, I was trying to customize it so that the status bar would be similar to the one on Android L, where it was gradient transparent and it would go along with the color of the app you're on. My phone was rooted through RootMaster (and it is still rooted) without any problem whatsoever. I could install Superuser, busybox and other apps and even if I used an app that determines whether my phone was rooted or not, says it actually is rooted. Although I had no problem installing Xposed Framework, it worked perfectly, but the problem was that if I installed something from Xposed, my phone would brick out since when you install something from the app you have to reboot your phone and when i reboot my phone was no longer functioning and would stay on a bootloop, so I had to unbrick my phone over and over again. I kept researching on why it happens but I didn't find any solution or anyone who had the same problem that I had. (I don't think I searched it properly though) I did it about three times, bricking it and unbricking it, until i came to the conclusion of uninstalling xposed and and not customizing my phone any longer. Until now, but I'm still afraid that if I install xposed again and installed a mod from it it would brick out again. I have some files on my phone and messages, and contacts saved on my phone that I don't know how to back up without having problems since if I used the default backup app on the phone the file would be too big and wouldn't even restore everything.
What do I do to not end up bricking my phone if I install xposed and installed a mod? what do I do to fix the problem and won't end up unbricking my phone?

S6 SM-G920P BoostMobile G920PVPU3BOL1 5.1.1 STOCK Root XposedFW Viper4A 2020

Stock out of box Samsung Galaxy S6 From Boost Mobile.
Disclaimer >>>Might Work With the Sprint S6, since Boost is just the prepay of Sprint, the same phone I think...
First to say this is a rare find (2015 Release) but if you can get your hands on this awesome handset it has, 8Cores, 32Gb of Memory, 16mp.Cam, and as far as i know the Last Samsung Galaxy With the iR Blaster. So I take No-Responsibility to any Malfunctions or Broken Devices. Personally Had Little to Zero Problems Achieving this I would say This is the Best, Most stable Rooted Device i'v ever owned.
Im Posting here expecting that everyone knows what ROOT, TWRP, CWM, SuperSU is, Developer Mode/How to activate, how to reboot to recovery/Download Mode, Flash via Odin, and use TWRP.
I'll try to put this whole thing in chronological order. so out of box... or anyone who can restore their device back to this build BOL1It Works Flawlessly, Very-Fast/ResponsiveSystem Wide Equalizer>V4A-starts on boot, Xposed FW, Xprivacy, Lightning Wall, and The Google PlayStore still works.
Take Phone out of box [UNACTIVATED/NOSIM/AIRPLANE] LoL... Turn on at home alone... DO NOT CONNECT TO WiFi/DATA it will force update BOL1. Dont sign in google Acc. or Samsung Acc. SET UP http://wakasoftware.com/app-freezer-setup/ Once Completed With Freezer App Set up Reboot and Freeze The following Apk.'s
Search (Update) in Freezer app. You should find [com.sec.android.fotaclient, com.wssyncmldm, com.sec.fwservice, com.sprint.ce.updater, and [NOT100%ON com.policydm] Disable them. Next search sprint in Freezer; Disable every apk. listed under sprint search [com.sprint.zone, com.sprint.psdg.sw, com.samsung.sprint.chameleon, com.sprint.w.installer, com.sprint.ce.updater, com.sprint.w.prefact, com.sprint.dsa, com.samsung.sprint.setupwizard, and com.sprint.voicemail]
You can probably leave voicemail enabled boost has theirs installed anyways. Not sure if sprint-Vmail works or not. Go ahead and freeze any bloat ware or apps you don't want. Disable at own risk. If something messes anything up, reboot to recovery, factory reset, then start over lol
THIS WILL TRIP KNOX
Alright now go developer options and turn on OEM unlocking (allow the Bootloader to be unlocked) Now im going to thank (spammy l) XDA Member for this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/sp...ainfire-autoroot-stock-custom-kernel-t3294308
Follow That Root Method-Just USE THE LATEST SuperSU & TWRP instead. Im on [SU 2.82-SR3] & [twrp-3.3.1-0-zerofltespr] Once obtained Root, an have installed TWRP&BUSYBOX; Create a Custom Recovery backup-TWRP BEFORE you go on to install XposedFW.
You can connect to WiFi/Data, set up google, samsung accounts, and activate wireless services/put SiM Card Back/Disable-airplane-mode now that you have the sprint apps disabled. WARNING if you root this without sprint apps disabled sprint will detect root on the phone and try to force update and continuously restart the phone only 10seconds or so after bootup. I did not know this when i first activated my services. Even after i turned off wifi and pulled the sim card out it was still rebooting only 10seconds after bootup. Giving me only moments to navigate to freezer app and search ''sprint'' and freeze freeze freezze.... so thats why we freeze them first. Also by disabling the sprint Apk. s it Removed the Boost Mobile Boot Animation not sure which one but just FYI just see stock samsung boot.img cool still.
Next have to Thank (wanam Contributor/Developer) For Their Forum( https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-xposed-samsung-lollipop-t3180960 ) on how to install XposedFW For [5.1/6.0]Lollipop/Marshmallow. Follow That to get Xposed Installed properly. Once flashed it dose take a few minuets to startup, it will boot cycle a couple times, be patient.
Last but my personal favorite piece of software to place in to the system, ViPER4Android-FX 2.5.0.5
My last shout-out goes to (kevintm78 Senior Member) for his method on installing V4A The Proper Way. Here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/themes-apps/how-to-viper4android-install-proper-t3691597) after all that you should make a new custom recovery point to save your work. Thanks to all just wanted to put all that into one place for this specific build of phone.
