Nothing here yet. I'm rooted with stock recovery. I'm wondering if I will see the update or not?
And FWIW, I never thought that I would see this day. Of course I still have yet to see it myself to believe it.

I had to unroot by flashing stock firmware with Odin for the update to take. With root the update would fail at 25%.

Cool, thanks for letting me know. Can you share which unroot/flash stock firmware instructions you used? Also, were you able to reroot after?

I downloaded the firmware from sammobile (4.1.2 was the only one available) then flashed with odin. Sammobile has the basic instructions. Then the 4.4.2 OTA update worked.
I haven't tried rooting yet. But i can save my google music downloads to SD and the glitchy touch screen appears to be fixed
Most of the crapware can also be deactivated running stock
Maybe we got lucky and they unlocked the bootloader; hopefully a developer will be interested enough to check.
I am on stock and still can't get the update. Are they doing this in stages?

Downloading Update Now
Nice surprise when i picked up my Note 8.0 today and the uodate manager started the download!! Will be nice if the "stutters" the note suffers from when typing is fixed (happened as i was typing this).
If anyone is interested I am 100% stock, never rooted, nothing flashed. Dont know if its natiowide rollout but I am im rural Ohio but thew device is a Alaska # & account.
As previously mentioned it would be AMAZING if the bootloader was unlocked but im not holding my breath. And even though i am VERY pleased the update is happening I still cant throw out any " good job AT&T" comments as this, OR ANY, update is BEYOND over due.
Will post thoughts once updated and taken for a spin.

I got my (previously) rooted Note to update simply by checking "Unroot Cleanup" (or a command similar to that) within the settings of SuperSU and then running the update.

After selecting the checkbox within SuperSU it popped up a warning saying, essentially, that it was going to remove root, close itself, and it suggested a reboot after that.
Once clicking OK it only took a few seconds to run and then returned to my homepage.
I rebooted, ran root check which confirmed I was not rooted, and then ran the AT&T update.
After 4 calls to ATT, a visit to Samsung Experience and a call to Samsung I am having to send mine into Samsung no one could get it to update.

NOTE 3 - ROOTED FUN!
I had to flash mine through Odin and then factory wipe, then it took the OTA. When I tried just unrooting it wouldn't and would fail
Tried using the full unroot option in superSU but it kept FC'ing. So I flashed stock firmware with odin. Update worked with no problems.
Does any of the bloatware effect updating? i was thinking maybe thats why some updates are failing after unrooting. Im probably wrong just taking a wild guess.
And PLEASE if anyone gets their note to root after updating to 4.4.2 post how it was done. Thank you in advance.

I couldn't find one. Even Sammobile only had the 4.1.2 firmware.
I have the AT&T SGH-i467, and I got the 4.4.2 update. Woke up to the popup to upgrade. My device was not rooted, stock from AT&T. After the update it would not boot completely. It would boot to the loading screen and flash to the "desktop" on occasion, then back to the loading screen. This would continue for as long as I would allow it, it would get pretty hot while doing this as well, draining the battery. I tried clearing the cache a few times with no luck. I had to factory reset it to get it to boot properly. All is well now. I have not yet experienced the usual screen lag either.
I too had to reload original stock ROM via Odin. The it went through without issue.
have tried to root using "known" methods but currently they all fail.
Hope someone comes thru with a root fix here.
Has anyone managed to locate a download link for this? I've unrooted, flashed back to stock via odin, etc. and cannot seem to get the update. I read somewhere that not having active at&t service on the device would prohibit it from pulling the ota update from at&t's server, which makes sense. However, if anyone has located a download link for this, I'd be grateful for it!

I flashed 3.1 OTA (KF3) then tried to update with KIES but no success.
Will update you if I figure out a way

I guess, for some reason 3.1 OTA is an I/O update. So far I/O tab owners haven't received the TW update yet other than that 11 MB update that locked the boot loader. I don't know if there's an 3.1 OTA for the retail version, that can be ODIN to get back the unlocked boot loader and then update the TW. In the mean time, you can install the TW posted by Doc, as I did and wait for the next update for the I/O tab owners, and flash that update when it's available. .
So far everything is working fine, even the Google movies, except for Plex. One of the guy, Darrin at Plex forum said that the fix won't be coming in near future. May be they should share their codes with some dev on xda, and I'm sure the issue would be resolved a week or so.

The one there seems to be from the IO version. Once you flash that one, you get the update for google movies, but not the touchwiz update.
I tried this stock 3.1 several times already but always get the 11mb update. I'm going to return CWM to stock and see if that changes anything.
I'm going to give it another go!

Same output. Still getting the 11mb OTA and Kies does not allow updating or even transferring files.
I finally gave the UEKMB+ROOT a try but I deleted the superuser.apk to unroot it
Works perfectly and KIES does say I'm running the latest firmware version and now able to transfer files using it
Hopefully when they release the next firmware I can use OTA.

I'm using UELMB+Root, and I have the movie tab in the market. What you can do is, go to accounts and sync in the settings, remove the account and add it again. Also, clear data for market and videos application. Then open the market app, follow on screen instruction. Then open videos and choose your google account. I guess this should fix it. If not, go to CWM, clear cache and dalvik cache. Then reboot.

Whole threads covering people who were rooted already downloading the most current firmware updates (two of them for Verizon landed via Kies in last couple of days) and then going back in after the updates and re-rooting their N3's. The current firmware updates keep SELinux at Permissive.

My Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4 (rooted with CF-Auto-Root) has been repeatedly downloading and notifying me of a 398.8MB update. It comes up every couple of weeks and I have allowed it to install several times.
I maintain root after the reboot, but it keeps coming back. I'm currently on Android version 4.3 (MK2 build).
Is there anything I can do to get past this update and hopefully get 4.4?
Thanks in advance.

I am not sure you can stop the update box from going away (short of a custom rom).
I believe you just have to deal with it, if you want to stay on 4.3

Hi Vandy. Sorry if I wasn't clear in my question. I don't want to stay on 4.3...I want to get to 4.4 (Kit Kat), but it seems like I'm stuck on this 389.8MB update that keeps coming back even after I have allowed it to install.
I'm hoping that someone else has experienced this "repeated" update and can tell me how I can go about moving past it so that I can get to some newer updates.
Thanks - Chung in NYC
Your best option is to install the full NAE stock tar file with Odin. The update is failing because you either have a custom recovery installed, modified system files, or deleted something. OTAs can't complete unless your stock. Look for a thread from random45 in the android development thread and download the NAE stock tar from there. You won't lose any of your data, but you will have to reroot your phone afterwards.

Probably not a good idea to take the update. I'd wait until our trusty devs get ahold of the OTA and do their magic.

That might just of been the best error ever, especially if you use root a lot. No way to go back and no known, released root at the moment for that version. Like above me has said, try flashing the NK1 modem using Odin and see if that improves your signal any.
Well, i just have been using the stock rom, rooted with safestrap. Id like to update to 4.4.4 just to have the latest OTA with whatever various fixes it might have. Before i did the update i uninstalled anything from wanam exposed framework wise. Then i did the "remove root" from superSU. I still have the unlocked lock on the note 3 splash screen after reboot and the OTA fails....says error at install screen. I have read other people have done what i have done and the update worked. What im asking is am i overlooking something? Is it really even possible without using odin and reverting to stock even though i have read people have had sucess????

If you want the benefits "fixes" of the latest, would be be smart to Odin stock so you are clean when you take the OTA.

I too have read ambiguous posts of people who have used the 4.4.4 OTA on a towelroot'ed Verizon Note 3s. I've been skeptical that this would work and keep root so thanks for clarifying.
I have a question though. Where should I look to keep track of the latest news about a root technique for a Verizon Note 3? Also, is there a place to contribute to a bounty for someone who can figure this out?
I ask because If you google "samsung note 3 Verizon 4.4.4 towelroot" there are tons of hits, but most of them are from eons ago and while I root my phone, I am not a developer, and so don't know the lay of the land. In the past I've just searched for "root verizon samsung note 3" and crawled through the resulting mound of irrelevant material until eventually I found the answer. Or is the answer simply that every few days I search again to see if anything new pops up?
I realize this is a totally newbie question, but I'm a long-time newbie: I've been rooting my phones for years but I don't have a lot of phones and updates only come out every so often so I never really move up the learning curve of how to do this quickly and easily. I suspect others have the same problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It likely is possible to update and keep root. But if after updating you screw up a mod, etc. and need to get back to stock you will lose root permanently.

You need to put your phone in download mode before plugging into pc. Make sure debugging is checked in developer settings.
Thanks…
I forgot the download mode and to check the debug- always in a rush…
Ill check it when I get in- thanks again

Yah, but i get pretty poor 4g for some reason and this update might (is suppose to) fix it. I read a lot of people have unrooted with superSU and installed the OTA update fine but for me it isnt working. Even though i dont have root.
My phone messed up earlier this week and I had to use repair assistant and when I did it updated me to NK1 KitKat 4.4.4 and I lost root and can not get it back plus the reception issue is still terrible.

Verizon forced me to upgrade before they would troubleshoot my phone.
I was not able to do it OTA, but using the Verizon upgrade tool works.
Now I lost root, & I gained a whole bunch of bloatware. Very frustrating

That is why you should always tell them you are on the latest firmware

I read about 4.4.4 and didn't like what they took away from 4.4.2. I won't go to it. If I were you I'd 'towelroot'- (get the simple steps on xda), and 'beanstown 106' has all the firmwares for these phones, put the nc4 on w/ 4.4.2, then install biggins rom v7, then upgrade via dirty flash with 8.0 then immediately w/ 8.3- fast touch response and after about 3-4 days, you'lI be getting twice the battery life… I jumped up to the new v9 but they dont have the theme for it yet. I miss the Kromex blue on black…
ITS OKAY!
if you want to try out stock and not wait for a stock rooted, update via KIES software, took 30 mins But im all golden, phone was flashed rooted and everything and KIES Still updated phone!
How would i do it?

Are you still rooted?
I have done this many times in the past when I did not care about waiting for root. For those interested, you will lose root, so you will have to root again following the update. Also, if you don't already, use Kies to back up all your data beforehand just in case, everything should carry over though if you don't wish to back it up.
Here's your answer

Thanks, but that's just the kernel, not the whole ROM.
Im on CM12.1 will Kies update it it or no? Probably not have to odin back to 4.4 huh?

Kies will update it. But you will lose root, custom recovery and your ROM. Make a nandroid.
I just made a nandroid while shopping at Wal-Mart. I'm going to apply the stock OS via kies when I get home and check it out. Kind of excited. Kind of worried about tmobile knowing that I tripped Knox.

I don't think they care. I'm on jump and have turned in like 4+ samsung phones all with tripped knox never once have they looked or said anything. Also never heard of anyone being called out on it with tmo either.
I flashed a random KK NK4 ROM, booted, plugged into kies for the LP COD6 update. Lost root of course. Probably going to use the unrooted stock for a little bit.

Yeah, i've heard other peple's stories on that as well. No issues for them either. So I'm not totally paranoid about it, but still a small concern will be there. To be honest though I plan on paying the phone off and keeping it instead of using Jump. I really like this phone and even if I do upgrade to the Note 5 or whatever, having a backup phone is a great idea.

I ODIN'd back to stock and then ran the OTA (not Kies) to upgrade to 5.0.1. I am very happy with the performance. Actually I am blown away. It's far more responsive than it ever was on FireKat 11 and I didn't think it could get any better than that as it was running great. Color me 3 different shades of surprised and happy. I am going to stay stock w/ no-root for a bit and see what the dev's bring us.
