So I have been replacing my iphones with android devices lately. I got the Galaxy Nexus from Google, the HTC one X on AT&T and the Galaxy Note international version N7000.
Here are my observations.
The Note is perfect.
The screen on the note is by far the best screen on any of these phones. The Galaxy Nexus screen is not bright enough and has a horrible blueish tint. The HTC One x has a yellow tint and is not as bright as the Note. So screen is awesome.
The Note has pinch to zoom in email. WOW. Neither the Nexus or One X has this. Must have feature IMO.
Note has a microSD slot. Perfect.
Note has removable battery. Perfect.
Is note too big? Maybe but its easier on my eyes since I am getting older.
The One x gets way faster download speeds on both the wifi and 4g but it drops all the time. Sucks. The note is middle ground between the nexus and one x. The nexus has horrible reception in parts of my town and the note does not.
Gotta love the home button. The fact I can press that to wake the phone is great. That and the back button being on the right make it very easy to use. The nexus is second best in ease of use and the One x sucks. Have to reach all the way to the top of the phone to wake up. Makes using awkward.
Both the nexus and one x are running ICS but the note still has no update. Hmm, samsung features kind of fill the gap in gingerbread though. Not as big a deal as I thought although I do want to install chrome beta badly.
So in all I think I am keeping the nexus because I love the style of the phone, its speed and ease of use. The drop calls and screen are tough to deal with though but I love having my T-mobile prepaid sim in it on the $30 unlimited internet plan. Makes a good hot spot and and extra phone when in a jam. Example, my wife just took it along with her iphone with an extended battery on a work trip. She can use it for a hotspot if she needs to. Nice.
The One x is going back and I am going to wait for the Galaxy S3 in blue. Could be a while but this one x is not very good. Starting to hate the HTC sense and loving the TouchWiz.
So there you have it, the Note is so far the best phone in my arsenal. I won't even compare it to the iphone as its a no contest.
+1 Note is PERFECT!!!
No need to say anymore

It's a great phone! I got it just a while ago because I got offered good money for my iPhone. Have had a couple of Android before but always got back to iPhone, this time I am pretty sure I won't. This note I only got Gervase it was a good price on it, used. I was pretty sure I was going for galaxys3 but now I think I am going to keep this one. I can have this almost without lag and i do not play much. So performance of s3 isn't a big selling point 4 me. I think the camera functions is what I would miss the most.
The thing that is the only drawback is that one hand maneuverability is severely limited.
I have used kingDroid but just changed to paranoid 0.2, and both are great! Never written this fast as I do with Swype and the s-pen. This truly is a smart gadget.

Loving my Note and I cannot feel this attraction I have for the Note with any other phones even if they are more powerful...
I think my next phone will be the Note 2 for sure... I don't care about other phones...
I had a note for four days.....
I swapped my Iphone 4s for it, yesterday the guy wanted to swap back as he couldn't get the Iphone unlocked for free, he kicked up a right fuss and I had to swap back...
Now I am desperately trying to swap my Iphone 4S for another Note...argghh this little thing is rediculous
Nothing else compares to a note
I will change my note only for.......

It is the android Device to everything you want.
The Note is for now the closet to a perfekt phone there is on the market. Its one if the few phones where the next model should be a tweak rather than a whole new phone.
The screen don't come much better than the notes.
Performance wise there is no apps currently on the market that would benefit from faster a CPU.
The funny thing is you you sometimes forget how good the note is. Then you use or have to see something on someone else "normal" phone. The first thing you think is omg its tiny.

Don't forget that the Note does have official ICS now!
Booooo note lol

I love my Note. And I'm never ditching it for any other device.
The only drawback on my head is, that it heats up faster than the Nexus and the S II. Haven't used the One X. But I don't like the HTC phone design in general, not a fan of unremovable batteries at all .
I hope in Note 2 the heating issue is solved, even if not, I think im buying it LOL

Hi guys,
I bought the first galaxy note very early last year, i was probably among the first people to have it. I bought it when I was on a trip to europe and just thought it would be better than the galaxy nexus or galaxy s2, by the time I arrived back to my country I realized that I am stuck with this phone and I better like it either i want to or not. So after a whole year of using it, I sold it to an unknown person for a pretty nice price. (I lost the s-pen, and the phone was pretty bruised).
Believe it or not, today I am without a smartphone and LIFE IS HARD! i am carrying this stupid nokia 5800 which fails at everything... so I am thinking should I buy the note2? should I wait for the htc one x+? S3? or should I continue waiting for something else?
Personally and most honestly the note1 was an impressive device, but the size made it a bit unrealistic, people stared at me whenever I answered a call.. and I found it a bit uncomfortable. Other than the size, everything else was good. Today after being without a smartphone for about 2 weeks, I get impressed and satisfied even with smaller screens like the s3 features...
so help your brother here find the right path, tell me what I should do in your opinion
I love the 5800 Xpressmusic (I still use mines as my alarm clock... and it's gone 2-3 weeks without charging already).
Nostalgia aside, if you want a smaller device, go with the S3, if you like the note, go with the Note II, it got a bit thinner and a little longer so, it is *slightly* better to hold in the hand. And yeah, I can understand the awkwardness, but then again, I'm the one who walks around with a Nexus 7 in his pockets
The S3 is pretty much comparable to the Note II except there isn't a stylus, however, if you want a smaller phone, I say wait til Oct 29, as Google has just announced a conference about android they might talk about the Nexus 4 device from LG with S4 Pro, 720p 4.7" screen and vanilla android. If you want a bigger phone, get the Note II.
Like the one above say, Note2 is a nr1 device "IF" you can handle the size.
I think the note2 is more easy use with one hand then the old Note1 but it does not make it a small device tho..

Like the others said, if you don't like how big the note is, then maybe you should go with a smaller size. The note 2 isn't as wide as the note 1 tho. You should check it out at a store to see if its good.

Try the Meizu mx4 or wait for the Xiami mi2.
I'm using the mx4 and I'm very happy with it.
It's 4" sized and thus very nice to hold in your hand.
If you want something thats easy on your wallet try going for last generation material like the s2, which has a similar form factor.

Can u even get those phones outside of china? I would imagine in Amy country outside of china meizu would be served hot on a plate by apple... you think Samsung copied apple... heck meizu got famous for outright doing so.

Hello,
As you seem to be very concerned about other peoples feelings/opinions and not your own comfort, don't punish yourself and go with the crowd. Buy a nice iPhone 5, nobody will notice you and you'll feel comfortable.
I'm very sorry but I'm astonished every time about these kind of posts; damned you're big boys and girls so make up your mind and do what you want! It's such a personal thing, nobody can help you because you are you and the others are the others....:silly:

Yesterday I picked up my Note 2.
I was thinking the same thing: A Nexus device that comes out will always get updates a lot faster, and it'll be a "faster" device in general. But then I thought:
Quadcore is NEW and this will last a while on mobile devices.
The Note 2 has 2GB of Ram, which was my first REAL issue with the Note 1
It has an LED notification light
Giant battery
Those are the things I really wanted in my next device! The note 2 fulfills those tasks.
On the plus side of course is the SPen, NFC, and the larger screen. Another 5 inch device would be my only remedy but I didn't see LED notification light and the 2000 mah battery on the HTC version and no SPen. so I said bye bye to that idea! It would be a higher res LCD screen but a lot of minuses in my case (the LED Notification light is NECESSARY for my device now) and then the non removable battery? CRAP! I was on the bus traveling from city to city and my Note 1's battery died, and I just switched it out!
I have 15 days to return it if the next Nexus is a 5 inch device with notification LED, NFC, huge battery & an awesome screen, etc... then I'll change it for the Nexus! haha. But until then, this is a FANTASTIC device.

Agreed. Definitely the best phone ever made... for now.
Frustration awaits, unless Samsung release those sources.
NO CM FOR YOU.
As nice CM is, i would not flash it on my note. As just on note it is the small things that CM should remove i like. I even thing if i had to chose one phone to only use with Stock it for sure should be the Note.
I cant stand stock most off the time but on Note it is doable.

I'm awaiting the shipment of my Note II. I've been without my original Note for a while now as I sold it early so I could get more towards the II. I've been using the S3 which is a fantastic phone. Honestly I loved whenever I'd pull out the original Note and people would suddenly stare, joke, question, etc. People were always amazed by it and I can't tell you how many times I got asked if I could actually use it as a phone. People would end up loving it when I would let them use it for web browsing or something. The original Note really wasn't easy to use with one hand, but wasn't impossible. Hearing that the Note II's form factor fits slightly better in hand makes me really happy. Plus the bigger screen is ridiculous!
This thread is not to complain about the storage, No LTE or if the device is thick. Besides these factors, what can this phone do but the GS3 can't or vice versa? Especially if you are using GS3 now, Let us know why you wouldn't leave GS3 for N4? Thanks
The N4 has better CPU, GPU and more RAM
Also, the N4 gets long-term support with updates, and very quick. Not as on the S3...
It being a Nexus is a big plus. Not to mention the upgraded hardware. I don't have LTE in my area but if I ever feel I have to use it I will just use one of my smartphones that has it.

Right, forgot that
Also the N4 looks much better; very sleek and cool, completely smooth front and the glass looks fantastic.
I've always thought that the GS3 is an ugly phone.
He asked what can Nexus 4 DO that SGS3 can't, not what N4 got that SGS3 doesn't.
I guess what N4 can do that SGS3 can't it' basically the new features added on Android 4.2

Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Absolutely Nothing ! If anything Samsung has a few nice little features that Stock Android won't have (and the same could be said about Jelly Bean) BUT the way I look at it if you are not 100% sure that you should sell your GS3 then just don't do it dude .. For some of us it just makes sense ...
1) I get to cut my Verizon's cellphone bill in half
2) I love pure android and the look and simplicity of it.
3) I travel a lot so this phone pretty much covers me anywhere on the planet
4) I really really like the look of the nexus phone line (all screen with software buttons)
5)Fast Updates..
But i know that buying the latest phone doesn't mean you are gonna like it.. I sold my Sensation 4G to get the GS2 pretty much out of impulse and I was really really disappointed on it so when the GS3 came out I was one of the fist ppl in line outside of the store to get it....So NEVER again ! Unless I'm all Geek Out about and specific phone and the look of it I won't buy it ...
Get timely updates.
I'm not sure if Samsung is going to be including Photosphere and the 4.2 camera features in their jellybean update, but those are two cool features that the S3 may not "officially" have for a while. If you root your phone and install an AOSP rom, though, the two handsets are very similar.
The screen on the N4 will be better than the S3, that's the major difference to me. AMOLED has great potential but I'm not a fan of the oversaturation right now. Plus having no physical home button to break is an awesome feature

Yo don't need to have an aosp rom to have 4.2 camera features.
Someone leaked today one apk and three lib files from a 4.2 system dump and I'm already enjoying those features on my SGS3 with stock rom.
It still has some bugs but I think it can be solved with one more apk/lib file.

Vanilla Android and first to get updates are the most important things imo.
Having owned an Ipad Mini Retina, Ipad Mini, Ipad 4, Android Nexus 7, Nexus 7 2013, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and a tab.
So I've used the top end Apple and Android tablets, I've owned practically every smartphone from Iphone 5s, to Note 3's.
But this device trounces all of them to be perfectly honest, the speed is pure, crisp and almost instant with most apps, opening and closing, gaming quality is second to none, not a single lag anywhere, even my Note 3 lags on some of the games this baby simply takes in its stride.
I read the reviews and there are very few compared to other more well know manufacturers and thought id give it a go, went onto PC world and they have an offer on now £99 for the Note 7 itself and 20 % of accessories, so i got 20% of the official slot in flip case. amazing deal.
One game that stands out to me at this early stage or play, is Colin Mcrae which lags on everything, even my Ipad retina and 5s iphone, but not on this, loading times are seriously less on everything.
Why on earth is this tablet not advertised on every billboard and newspaper.
Just thought Id mention this and hope this section of XDA gets loads more action as it should, this is the hidden super device.
ANYONE thinking 1GB ram....forget it, this thing flies, even more so than a 3GB RAM Note 3

The tablet is great it has also more perfomance waiting to be unlock just needs a more highly optimised Android OS with all the glitches in the 4.4.2 to be fixed but they seem to be quick on the OTA's i give Nvidia credit for that!
The only cons is the display. A better display make the tegra note the best tablet.

For it's stated purpose, a gaming tablet, it's quite awesome :good:
I find that for daily usage, whilst 7" is quite usable, I personally need the extra realestate and an extra 3 inches would have it replacing my laptop. The actual users of the tablet though, use it for everything - browsing gumtree, ebay, streaming pandora, watching movies - as for gaming, they do plenty of it and love the native support of the ps3 controller.
As for the color reproduction of the IPS screen, it's glorious - games look wonderfully vibrant, you can enjoy the deep blacks in movies, it's a very good entertainment device for sure.
All this being said, I have now purchased two of these for my wife and her sister and they could not be happier with them

To be fair almost all devices would retina at some point away from your eyes.... The rival for this tab's display is the 2013 nexus 7 which has over 300ppi compared to the tegra note's 215ppi ... I own both but having them both held exactly 15cm away from face there is no difference in quality. Unless you are doing very fine reading on the internet.... so tegra =720p screen and nexus 7=1080p screen. ... with almost no difference in quality from eachother.:cyclops:
I'm planning to buy one but read that recent update broke the feature to transfer apps to sdcard,is this true?
nvidia still have not announced tegra note2 Or shield 2 at the current ces but still I'll wait.
Transfering apps to sdcard shouldnt be a major deal breaker if that does exist, I can release a workaround for that which will use your internal storage as external and vice versa! ;D

I have had a nexus 7 grouper note 8 note 10.1 but my nvidia tegra note arrives today
I've had the Tegra Note for 4 months now and I'm pretty satisfied with it. The performance, the dual speakers, the stylus, the price for which I got it, even the resolution doesn't bother me much. Sure it would be nice to have a sharper screen but it's not so bad. The only thing that I wish would've been better (well, other than the noticeable weight), is having a slightly larger screen, probably 8 inches. 7 inch is okay and all but whenever I do anything on the tab like watching movies, I just wish there is that little bit more real estate. 7 inch is big but not big enough for me. The Shield tablet is perfect for me in that regard but it costs way more over here and it also weighs a bit more than even the TN7! So I'm kind of confused on what to do with my tab. Should I make do with the screen or sell it and try getting a bigger tab with front-facing speakers with possibly lower performance (I'm not a huge gamer btw. I mostly play only casual games but the few large games I have played have performed easily with not even a stutter. Would there be that big a performance drop for tabs with "lesser" processors)?
I have definitely had a different experience than everyone else, I guess. It's not terrible for the price I paid, but with the 4.4.4 update, it's laggy as hell, with lots of touch screen issues. I know there are fixes and I know I could roll it back to one of the more stable updates, but frankly, I haven't felt like putting in the effort. Part of the reason I bought it was the promise of solid performance and timely updates. Add in the fact that I had to root it and flash the 4.3 update manually to even get OTAs working, again, and what I am left with is feeling like I should have saved my money and bought a Shield tablet or bought the 2013 Nexus 7, instead. As of now, I just use it in my Perk farm until Nvidia finally releases a Lollipop OTA that I really hope will address the multitude of performance issues I have run into.
Shame, really, as I love the hardware, but the software in the latest OS is just garbage.
Is it true?
I read somewhere that some people have had App incompatibility issues with the TN 7, is this something that was with the 4.2 and was improved with 4.4.2 or is it because of the Tegra 4? Just curious.
For people saying the wished it had 8" inch, I would say there is a Nvidia Shield 8 inch with higher res. I like 7" inch just because it's a thing in between the 4-5" mobiles and the 10-11.6+ notebooks, besides the 1280x800 would look worse on 8".
Just my $0.01 (it used to be $0.02 but due to the recession, we've had to make cutbacks)

I am very much into the idea of the n6 but what immediately struck me was how much brighter the Samsung screen was. N6 reminded me of the g3. Not bad just a little washed out? Perhaps it's just the way brightness was set on n6?

That isn't the final retail model. You can tell by the large dimple on the back from the Moto X (2014) as opposed to the smaller dimple that it has a la Moto X (2013).

Thanks for the link to the video!
After watching it I am still undecided on which of the 2 I will be buying. I guess I'll wait until full reviews of the Nexus 6 become available on youtube.
Recently bought an LG G3 but the Note 3 is still my favorite phone. Having SlimROM installed its mega fast and I love the bigger screen size.
Also want to see what custom ROMs will show up for the both of them

That's not the final retail model and thus this "review" should be taken with a grain of salt. Plus we don't know what brightness settings he's using on either phone.
And he said the Nexus 6 has a lcd display.....
Ugh EVERYTHING has a white background on L? The app drawer, settings menu etc. Counterintuitive to amoled, and ugly! Hopefully they give the option for a dark theme
I don't think that's the final device.
