I just want to know if there's a difference between the G900F and the G900F Dual SIM variant? I mean I know the latter is dual SIM version, but is there any difference hardware wise? I want to know that whether the latter is compatible with custom kernels like Ktoonz or Faux etc? That's really important.
Thanks in advance.
PS: In case anyone is wondering, this is the model I am asking about, http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s5_duos-6272.php

I have dual sim G900FD. Hardware vise G900FD is dual sim and everything else is same as G900F. For custom kernels you wont be having much luck as it has to be device specific and probably all custom kernel are for G900F variant. You wont be able to flash custom kernel on G900FD model.
Cheers.

According to this comparison, the hardware are the same: http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=6272&idPhone2=6033
But you may need to check for the other info also, e.g. Device Type, Product Name, Hardware Revision... using Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app.

If the hardware is same then why the kernels won't support the device?

Yes, Is the same hardware but there is a big difference the dual Sim , the kernel governs the connections, energy, the CPU and other things. With dual Sim all the process change is necessary an specific kernel. But is possible that in the future the developers cook a kernel for the g900fd.

Is it at least possible to use themes and apps that S5 G900F using. If kernel is the issue, in a dual sim version, is it possible to install Custom ROM for G900F and make only one sim to work rather than two? Or while installing Custom ROMs, just replace the kernel of Single SIM to Dual SIM leaving everything else same; will this be workable?

You have to look for specific G900FD custom roms and kernelsor mods/themes, don`t flash any G900F software or you might brick your phone.

Hi guys, my dad is bring a n9008 back from China. It has the qualcom 800 cpu onboard. I have done alot research on this phone, and only found the guide to root and flash recovery. So my question is: is it possible to flash roms made for other variants( such as n9005) onto n9008? Since the n9008 won't support the wifi calling from TMO, i would rather put a CM or AOSP on it.

as always, you got your phone from china, get help there, in other words, if you want support, get yor phones in your own country, imagine this, you will get a warranty also, is not that amazing?, yes you save some money buying overseas, or from a no one knows about seller, but, at the end, you get no support, think abot that in the future,
Pray its not a fake

well i got the phone as a gift. so its not my choice at first place.
so far i'm able to install all of the n9005 roms(x note, omega, lidroid) and everything works flawlessly.
the tmobile rom can be installed normally, but i just cant turn on the wifi( it stucks at turning on screen)
anyone got a solution to that?
Now you can install a CM11 ROM!
I too have been given a GN3 as a gift but it's the N9008 model.
I tried flashing the latest N9005 KK stock firmware, but I had no luck.
Do you know if there's a possibility of "changing" the model to a N9005? Hardware wise I believe they are exactly the same?
I imagine LTE is also not on this particular model? Am I correct to say that all Snapdragons are capable of having LTE? Would it be the firmware that "enables" LTE?
I don't really want to be on the Chinese firmware.
I've rooted the device and got gapps on their, but I'd rather a proper international firmware.
If anybody can help, it'd be great.

I wouldn`t risk flashing firmware that`s designed for a different device model, in this case the G900F firmware on a G906K.

There isn't a lot of reliable information about your model so there is no authorative answer.
Most will say that it's risky and not recommended to flash a firmware from another variant. As well, you don't simply have a different variant of the 801 Snapdragon based S5. You have a derivative model, with a different processor (805), screen resolution, et cetera. Strongly arguing that it is highly unlikely to work and would likely brick your phone.
The best you might hope for is someone alleging that they were able to do so. And then you'd still need to estimate the credibility of such a report.
If you have root and a custom recovery installed, you could remove much of the risk by trying a 900F based custom ROM, e.g. the Phoenix ROM, rather than flash stock 900F firmware. All in all though, it's an improbable fit.

Thanks for your help guys.
Yep, I imported this model for the specs. It's not a real drama on the stock firmware tbh. I just wanted to remove the splash screen and network installed apps from Korea.
I've hidden the apps, but there are still a couple of Korean bits and pieces I would like to get rid of. Maybe a firmware or suitable rom will become available soon.
No, u can't use the SM-G900F firmware on the SM-G906K
Hi,
Recently I bought this phone, and now I'm looking for an CyanogenMod/AOSP ROM.
Is there already one? Or could someone create one.
I already tried myself, but without luck.
Thanks in advance
No custom roms or CM rom is available yet for G900FD.
Till now all we can do is Root it and use Xposed framework modules
Yes,
The ROM from normal S5 G900f is running, but without radio.
Difficult to insert the Multi-SIM part?
me 2
i am waiting for cm to be ported to my FD
I'm also waiting for it as I already tried Nameless ROM but Radio is not working.
How about kernel ? Can I use G900F kernel on G900FD ?
Yes, you can flash a ROM for the 900F onto 900FD, But then you will not have radio.
WLAN and everything is working. Just the missing RIL driver in the kernel.
Yep I'm desperate for a better ROM for my SG-900FD as well. Mine is so buggy.

Isn't it possible to flash the RIL files separately, just like we can do the modem flash separately in HTC devices?.
The part which is seperately flashable is the Firmware for the modem. what is missing in the ROM is the driver to access the modem. Recently I found a custom kernel for G900FD. so it should be possible to create a fitting kernel. Tomorrow I will post the link. then it would be good if someone who knows how to create will build the kernel.
Here the link for the kernel sources:
https://github.com/frogfire/G900FD-Kernel
I will try to build one again today.
It's me again,
Unfortunatley I didn't get it managed to compile the kernel.
Anyone who knows how to do? Or could maybe do that?
If needed I can provide a build environment.
Galaxy G900F themes/apps to G900FD Models
Hi,
May I know, can I use all of the support provided here (S5 G900F Themes & Apps Section) for S5 GM900F can also be flashed/installed/re-used in G900FD too?
Is the build.prop is same for both of these devices or is there any changes possible?
Lastly, Is it possible to make G900FD model working by using ROMs which are modified to work on G900F model?
I thought keeping the dual SIM Radio/Kernel (for Dual Sim Version) intact with no change in them should not create problem even if changing the ROM.
Please let me know if its wrong.
G900D
:crying: i want to buy this device the only reason i didn't do it because there no cm rom for it :crying: :crying:
i hope some day we can have it

is it posible to install the original firmware of the G900MD in the G900FD to use the MD bands in LTE?

When you say "radio" is the phone line? Work 2 chip?
All I asked today, said that it does not work the rom G900F in G900FD.
i want cm to my s5 duos:crying::crying:
Will the i9505 stuff work on the SPH-L720T? It's the branded Sprint version of the i9505 and I don't want to brick the damn thing. If there is anything I need to know, now would be a good time to tell me. I will point out that I have the 4G version (I think that's the only version made for this model anyway) and it is unlocked to work on all networks. Will I loose that if I flash a custom ROM?
Secondly, I am looking for a ROM that is as close to the stock experience as possible but doesn't have all the issues of stock! But with fixed stagefright issues, the widget draw on Touchwiz UI, and better power saving features.
Thirdly, recovery: what is the best one to use? I was thinking TWRP since I already have experience with that. Do I also need to match up an Odin version for my device?
I think that's about it for now. Thank's for the help!
If the code was jfltexx, it's safe to flash. Just check the ROM's thread for any special guides if available.
For stock-based, no idea. I don't have an I9505.
Sent from my GT-I9500
Thanks. Where do I find the code to tell?
On any I9505 development thread with jfltexx on their supported device list.
Sent from my GT-I9500
It's a rebranded I9505. They have identical hardware.
Your phone has a tri-band something. I don't know what it does, but it seems to be carrier related. That's the only difference between the normal SPH-L720, I9505 and your model.
Well now since I have a custom recovery Im looking for a custom rom. Does anyone know if there is one that will work?
Sorry to post again but lets get development going on this now I know theres smart people on the interwebs Lets see some aweaome custom roms please and thank you

This rom works just no data. no sim card. http://forum.xda-developers.com/s6-edge-plus/orig-development/cyanogenmod-13-unofficial-t3384252
Not sure if it works, has anyone tried moving the two files from your stock ROM namely
i) /system/lib64/libsec-ril.so
ii)/system/lib64/libsec-ril-dsds.so (if available)
to any of custom ROM? It works for me with most of the custom ROMs here in xda. My phone is SM-G9287C which is dual sim and most of the custom ROMs here don't officially support the dual sim phone.
If sim/data signal still not appearing, get a supported kernel or write this line without the quote in your build.prop (after performing the above methods) "rild.libpath2=/system/lib64/libsec-ril-dsds.so", then restart your phone.
If you wanna try this, please do it at your own risk, I bear no responsibility for whatever to your phone.
not sure if anyone has tried any of that. I wouldnt know how to do that lol. also no kernel as far as I know for our model that will work
sorry to bump this, but Im sure more people would love to see some type of custom kernel and rom for our model phones. Anyone here able to make this happen? Also didnt find /system/lib64/libsec-ril-dsds.so but did find /system/lib64/libsec-ril.so. @fenrir_ac
