Hello Everyone,
Last week I bought all of the necessary parts to do an in-dash install of a Nexus 7 (2012). This morning, before work, I started the process of unlocking the bootloader and rooting, etc. Well on my lunch break I went over to Timur's site to download his ROM to my phone so that I would have it already downloaded before i got home. However, I see that he has discontinued distribution of that ROM. After scouring the interwebs, I found a link he posted on another site with a statement from his saying that it will only be available until 10/19. However, when I try the link it won't load.
So, I am wondering if there are any alternative ROMs that can do all of the same things as Timur's.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi!
Can someone guide me little with rootting and installing new android on IdeaPad A1000L-F?
I've found a lot of guides, but none of those are for this wlan model only, I think? I would be so happy, if someone could tell me how and what can I do with this. Current android (4.1) is so outdated, that I cant stand this. And latest games don't even install on this version.
Thanks!
Edit: Got my tab rooted with one click root, but what now?
any help yet? i have same tablet and same question:silly:
Nothing yet, sorry. We'll see, maybe someone gives us a little advice soon. Hope so!
First, you'd have to port a recovery (cwm or twrp) to your device and fastboot flash it.
You'll have to use a repo for aosp, cm, miui, or other and make a rom.
The a1000l source code is available here: http://mobilesupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/a1000_tablet?tabname=downloads
You will need that in your venture.
Unfortunately, this is just not a popular tablet. I bought one for my daughter and rooted it, but that's about as far as I will go with it.
Good luck!
It looks like recovery is already available for T, F, models. I'm not certain if this will translate over to G, L models or not:

I think this recovery is not compatible for A1000L-F 8Gb model?
Version of the A1000-F can earn. Use at your own risk, no one has tested it.

The only "custom" ROM I have found is just a modified version of stock. This means no version upgrade:

I am unable to get flashtool working from those threads and fastboot is not detecting the device in Windows or Linux. I was hoping to "fastboot boot recovery.img" in order to do some testing, but no luck right now. I'll mess around some other time...
I've got working CWM on my A1000L-F thanks to the links in this thread:

Lenovo has only released broken source so compiling 4.2+ will be too much of a hassle for an $80 tab that my daughter uses...
Howdy XDAers,
So I'm currently in the process of trying to complete my Kegbot install. I have a Nexus 7 (Grouper) that was upgraded to Lollipop (5.0.2) and was following the instructions as given at <DEFEAT ROBOT>https://forum.kegbot.org/t/howto-root-nexus-7/203/7</DEFEAT ROBOT>. The problem is that post was written for the Kit Kat version of Android. And unfortunately the Kangaroo kernels they have linked to have been replaced by someone trying to install malware on my system (the nerve). So that was a dead end.
Anyway I am looking for a kernel that allows me to use USB OTG and charge my Nexus at the same time while on Lollipop. Does such a kernel exist yet? About 45 minutes of Googling has yielded nothing. If not can someone point me to where I can find a Kit Kat kernel with the aforementioned support and an accompanying ROM to go with it. I can handle the rest from there. Thanks gents (and ladies if any are in here).
[ EDIT ] : Spelling and Grammar.
Hi Stieg.
Did you ever figure this out? i`m in the same situation myself. just started my kegbot build but i am trying to run the server directly from the Tablet.
As the title says. I need the 2012 version. I've googled and googled and googled. I can't find this thing for the life of me. I found the mobile version, but not the fixed installation mode version. If anybody is still hosting it or has it laying around then please help me out. I would really appreciate it. I also would like the kernel too if possible.
Hey there, I've recently bought a Nexus 7 with the latest os already installed on it, which has made it run slower with every passing day.
I did a bit of googling and found that a lot of people had issues with their Nexus 7s after they upgraded to the latest os.
So now I'm wanting to downgrade to the previous os and I read in an article on Androidcentral that said getting a custom rom would be the best way to go to (I'm guessing) either get a previous os or get a streamlined version of the one I already have.
So I need help finding the best rom for my purposes, I'm very new to this sort of thing, in terms of roms, flashing and downgrading os and such so any help would be greatly appreciated, as I'd love to be able to use this tablet St something other than the speed of smell lol.
@EddieHades welcome to the community. First of all it's always the best method using a custom ROM, but make sure you have unlocked bootloader. If you don't have unlock bootloader then you've to do it first, make sure you've backed up all your data. Second choice if you want to stick with stock rom. Then just go to this link and download your preffered stock ROM as per your device, make sure you've downloaded proper images. Then download Nexus Root Toolkit and flash that image and you're good to go.
Hi all, I've looked around and tried my best to understand how to room and install a custom rom on my Xoom 2 but I can't find the files to do such job. Every time I would click the link for the tutorial to download the rom required, the page isn't found.
If someone could point me in the right direction with how to root and install a custom rom, I would much appreciate it.
I've found my old tablet and would like very much to update it, it's kind of useless now. I can't find the files aswell
It's a shame as its such a good tablet. I only want to use it for web browsing and sitting in bed watching Youtube or Twitch, but with Youtube, when I launch the app It sends me to the play store as there is a updated version, but it won't let me update it.
So I assume that the tablet's software is too old and that's why I wanted to install a more up to date rom.
Hopefully someone will step forward and give us the help and the right direction to the files needed
Same here
I would like to flash a custom ROM to a Xoom 2 Media Edition (MZ607) because some important apps won't open in the stock Android 4.0.4. It looks like some people had developed ROMs for it to run Android 5.1 (or 5.1.1), but I am not able to find this ROM. If someone knows where this ROM is supposed to be, I will be very grateful! I rooted it with Kingoroot but this won't get me any far without a ROM...
