In my Nexus 4 mobile data disconnects from google server(blue signal turns to grey signal) when i open an app say gtalk .When i turn on tunnel bear and open pandora app ,,in between if i get a call or i use gtalk the signal turns to grey and it doesnt connect to google server. Is it a bug ,can anyone explain / help me out ..
One more thing can i change dns settings just like its changed for wifi .. i want to add tunlr dns settings to my mobile connection (2G/3G)
Thanks
For DNS settings you can't as that's all controlled by your carrier. They probably don't even allow port 53 outside of their NAT anyways so you'd be stuck regardless (I don't know that to be true, i would just imagine it is though for security)
I have a very similar issue. Many times my data connection will toggle on and off until I reset. By this I mean the signal bar will go from blue to Grey over and over again. I notice it happens when I come off a WiFi connection. Very annoying and I'm sure it is a software bug. Running bone stock firmware unrooted

How about Set DNS app ? does it work on mobile data
Hi after updating to 4.3 connecting to my WiFi seems to just keep looping obtaining, authenticating, obtaining. This didn't happen in 4.2.2. Anyone know a fix?

Try another network. Maybe it has a problem with your network. Hit thanks

Try forgetting the access point and redo it.

Yes it works on other WiFi networks but does not mean the one I am having problems with is faulty cause other devices connect to it just fine. Not to mention it worked perfect on 4.2.2

WPA2 PSK. Also I want to note that this is a second router connected to the main one by ethernet and used as an access point

Have you tried checking the router settings?

I had the same issue before 4.3 update. It was working fine after the update but today it happened again. I switched to static ip in my nexus wifi settings and its working fine. So i guess DHCP has the problem and im blaming nexus because everything else in the same network works fine.

I have the same problem with my old generation nexus 7. New one works just fine, galaxy nexus - just fine, xperia s - also fine, macbook pro - fine. I can't blame the network. Something is messed up. I tried a factory reset (as I'm selling this one) and it didn't help. also after quite some time of trying it wrote "Avoided poor connection" under the name of my network, but I can't alter the "Avoid poor connections setting" from the setup wizard.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I think the problem is DHCP too. I used to use WPA2 for my LAN. My Nexus 4 appears to not connect to those networks anymore.

Tried to set a static IP address? And you could also playing with the WiFi frequency bands. Some reported they can't connect to WiFi on 5 GHz band. Could try the 2.4 GHz one instead.
In cases of weak signal, DHCP may fail when connecting. If this happens, move closer to the AP (stronger signal).
If you have 2 routers and use 1 as an access point, use the LAN (not WAN) port on the second router and disable the DHCP server on the same router. You can use the same SSID and float between them if the other settings match (encryption and password). Use 2 different channels as far apart as possible (like 1 and 11). On 2.4 GHz, only use channels 1 to 11. On 5 GHz, only use 36, 40, 44, 48, 149, 153, 157, 161, or 165. The other channels have FCC limitations in the US. Use WPA-2 only with CCMP (AES) encryption. WPA should only be used with TKIP, while WPA-2 should only be used with CCPM (AES). I have seen a lot of issues when mixed is used.
Hope this helps...
Thanks for the suggestions. While testing I was standing just beside my router, so no weak signal problem. What I did after many tries to connect was reinstall stock 4.3 but version which ended with the letter 'V'. I was unable to see my problematic android build version, because I was stuck at welcome screen. So the reinstall fixed it.
Hello !
I still have problems of "connecting/disconnected" wifi after all this time since de new CM wifi driver of march... I don't use a lot of wifi, but it could be good to have access to it sometimes..
I tryed to change change the wifi driver to an old one by flashing a custom .zip like said in some posts, but it didn't work. With the stock motorola room the wifi works very well.
And with CM11 it still have problems.
Has someone an idea ? I don't know what log (or something like that) could be usefull to answer the problem, if someone can tell me what to search it would be good !
Thanks in advance,
Clément
Nobody ?
Are you using static IP or DHCP ?
Sent from my MB526 using xda app-developers app
Yes, I tried static IP or DHCP, when I flash a stock rom it works directly on the first boot, with CM and the new wifi driver it's impossible, it's always "connecting" -> "disconnected".
Something is quite strange : Even when I have 4 wifi bar, when the status switches to "connecting" it falls to one bar. And when it comes back to "disconnected" the full signal reappears...
Quite strange...
Change lease time from router. Also what is the security set to? Should be wpa2 aes
Sent from my MB526 using Tapatalk 4
At home my router is set on WEP (I know, bad idea), and at work, WPA2-AEP PEAP (with login an password).
I tried with no security at home, it's not better...
Lease time?
Sent from my MB526 using Tapatalk 4
No idea.
I can't check it in my office, I'll chek at home, but I still have this problem in static IP, so it should'nt be that, isn't it ?
That's true, static ip should have worked. Disable Wi-Fi optimization from settings and set band to 2.4 only. If you still have a problem I guess it's because of some incompatibility. The driver cannot be easily changed, old Wi-Fi driver was replaced for android/kernel compatibility
Sent from my MB526 using Tapatalk 4
I just tried with another router, WPA PSK, with static IP, still the same problem : "Connecting -> disconnected", etc...
The wifi band was already 2.4Ghz, and wifi optimisation was disabled.
What can I do to solve this compatibility problem ?
Thanks for your answers.
Wpa2? Can't think of something else ATM
You could try with dhcp on newer router, but I'm sure you've done that already

I tried other networks yes, same problem. I'll try to modify the connection timeout, but the problem is seen on any router, so I don't think that it's this... I can't connect to my gopro hero 3 for exemple, it's the think that bother me the most in fact !
This is not a CM issue, so they may not help you. FYI, WPA2 - AES should be used. TKIP caused similar issues for me

But why did it work well before march 2013 and the new driver then ?
No clear idea. AFAIK, it's problematic on stock, but I've never tried that configuration on the newer driver.
Sent from my MB526 using Tapatalk 4
So it's impossible to use any router other than WPA2 on the defy with the new driver ?
I can say goodbye to my gopro, office network and so on if I want to keep CM11 ? That's quite strange ! I'm the only one in this case ? Noone has a gopro and CM11 ?
Hi all
So I have the the Poland official kitkat rom
Not sure though the problem started from then
Anyways the thing is the connection speed I have at the house is 8mb/s
And from all the devices I get a straight and consistent 7mb/s
Ex ipod pc galaxy s2/s3
Except for my note 3, it hardly gets to 3mb/s
(Using speedtest app)
And always goes like 0.5mb/s to 1 and changes unstable
Searched alot and tried everything but none got me to a solution
Ex in advanced settings in wifi removing the tick
Removing the powersaving wifi in the service code
Looking for further help
Thank You

- Change connection type to static on phone
- Reset router
- Manually add phone's MAC adress to router
Tried any of these?

Keep the phone wifi setting default, this could be the router end issue. Like other said reset the router and then see. If not solve, in router setting make the wifi channel from auto to 6, 11 or 13. From DHCP give your phone a fixed IP. After all done when connected to wifi, go to setting and press your connected wifi it will popup with a status window, check the link speed what its showing.
*** From my personal experience DO NOT trust the Speedtest mobile app. Mine internet is like 5mbps but many time it showed over 20mbps download speed.

If you search for "Network" in the Playstore you might find an app for that.
no luck. they are wifi apps. they don't show who connects to my Hotspot

How about changing the password in Settings, at the top where you see Wifi select More... then Hotspot and Tethering and rename the Hotspot to something random and create a new AlphaNumeric pass with a special character @!$
no more worries of who connects
In addition to this -- does anyone know how to set the Channel that wifi broadcasts on?
It seems to just 'pick' Channel 6. Well -- I'm downtown, and that's a REALLY busy channel.
I'm with these folks though, OP -- just change your WiFi password if you're not sure!

I know that's an option. in TouchWiz it's shows list of connected devices via Hotspot. since nexus does not show this...i was wondering if there is such an app or a hidden option for this. I mean it seem simple that app developers must have know this.. if not.. great app idea

I use WiFi Tether Router on another device but should work on the 6p, it has an option to see who is connected and you can also change the WiFi channel too
