[Q] IR Blaster not working with CM11 - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I installed CM11 my phone's IR blaster stopped working. At the past, when I had C-Rom installed which is cyanogenmod based, it worked. Where can I found the drivers and flash them? If C-Rom developers did the trick then for sure the drivers could be found somehow!

You can't just flash drivers on a phone unless it's given.
They're coded into the kernel and in the ROM, associated with possibly hundreds of lines of commits.

Custom ROMs that are based on AOSP don''t have the photosphere camera app (it's a feature of the commercial line and not part of the open source project - same with the music player which has remained unchanged since gingerbread but that's another story lol).
As for flashing that's how I got it onto my Cyanogenmod 4.2.2 installs, I deleted the included gallery.apk (camera and gallery apps are contained in the one .apk) and installed the one from the "Google Edition" G2 which was leaked.
I haven't found an .apk for 4.3 camera app with photosphere (the one from 4.2.2 won't install and errored up on me) but there may be one floating around now

I'm running CM10.2, and it had the AOSP camera (no photosphere) and the new CM Focal camera.
I wasn't having much luck with either, so I flashed this Banks Gapps package. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2012857
There is a photosphere addon to flash in addition to the standard Gapps package. When I installed both, it removed the Focal camera and replaced the AOSP camera with the Google camera which has Photosphere. Everything is working great now.

Im having IR problems too. using Jamal2367's 4.4.
In Jamal2367's 4.3 it worked.
Not sure if its an android 4.4 bug, we'll have to wait for 4.4.x to find out.

Camera libs porting Slimrom on Find5

Hello guys,
I've been trying to port Slim ROM on our device for some weeks now and finally managed to get a good result ( everything fully functional) except for the camera which does not work.
I'm using normal Slim repos and CM repos for device, hardware qcom stuffs, and kernel + TheMuppets proprietary blobs.
I tried with camera2 from slim package, then CM package, same result, after flashing cam appear for 1 minute then disappears though present in system\app. Third party apps show usual cannot connect to camera error.
I surely miss some libs there and wondered if some of you guys can guide me to the right direction, repos to use. I will try with Coyote blobs but doubt it will change something.
Thanks in advance for your support.
Cheers

Sorry you wouldn't be able to on aosp roms as you need to run touchwiz framework for Samsung apps to work

Sorry to revive an old thread, but would it be possible to get SPlanner to work on the Google Edition of AOSP that is built for Verizon? I know that the WatchON app works with this Developers Edition.

Watchon works on most roms as it only needs to use the infrared not the framework & splanner was designed in conjunction with touchwiz ? Google Edition doesn't use touchwiz so splanner will not work without it

Thanks! I thought that the IR Blaster didn't work with any ROM because Samsung closed the drivers for it.
This was taken straight from the GE AOSP thread:
This is the latest build for the I9505-G Google Edition S4 official from Google/Samsung, I have made quite a few optimizations to the ROM and added the tools necessary to give it the features (100% working features that is) of an AOSP ROM, Google edition does not use open source proprietary which mean's Bluetooth, and most importantly the camera will work way better out of the box since Samsung builds this ROM (Full HDR support, 1080p video recording, no green lines on the front cam)

I figured since Samsung built in the drivers for a lot of things that it would work.

You can use watchon on most roms although you may need the generic peel.apk of watchon to work on all other versions
In regards of Google Edition rom it doesn't have the same features just that it's been optimised to work on s4, so it's a purer version of Android without Sammy bloatware therefore you won't get bloatware to work as it doesn't have the required libs/framework

[Q] Fingerprint & AOSP

Hi, I wanted to know if there is any way to use the fingerprint sensor of my G900F with CM. As far as I know it's impossible but it's the only reason why I don't flash CM (or a CM based ROM).
any ideas?
Thanks in advance.. Colin

thanks but i already knew this app.. it's about the missing drivers in CM .. no app can use the sensor if there's no driver
Yes, that's what you get with aosp ROMs, missing tons of features. Its fast, but at a high cost.
