If your tablet seems laggy delete the corrupted .jpg images that are created by the default camera 'Camera Awesome'. The corrupt jpg image sends the media scanner into an endless loop that taxes the CPU nonstop. The folder location is data/data/com.smugmug.android.cameraawesome. I would delete any subfolders also.
Battery drain from Android OS is caused by Blake_wakelock wakelock which is created by the Shield Wireless Controller which is connected to your Wi-Fi continuously and keeps the tablet from going into a deep sleep. Download the 'Disable Service' app from the Google play store and once it is installed scroll over to the system apps and long click the 'SHIELD Wireless Controller Service'. From there you can disable the 'BlakeManagerService'. You can always turn it back on if and when you need to use it but that will stop your wakelocks for now.

Noticed in battery settings that my Wifi turns on and off frequently even when my device is sleeping. Doesn't seem to be affecting battery life but I'm wondering why it does this. It happens on both my Nexus 7 (stock rooted) and my Nook HD+ (CM11). I do have the "always scan for networks" settings off.
Attached screenshot is after I didn't really use my Nexus 7 for about a week.
I would imagine this is caused by certain apps requesting data. For example, your Gmail app may be set to refresh every one hour, which means it needs to use the WiFi to search for new data and download it, if needed. Other apps are similar to that as well, depending on your settings.
If it really miffs you, you can always use tasker and create a task that shuts the wifi (I have it put it in airplane mode since it does several things in one shot) off when the display goes off and back on when display comes back on...will need to be rooted.

A while back, I noticed Doze had stopped working. I always leave my phone unplugged overnight, and the battery graph used to be a mostly flat line overnight, with no wake activity. Recently, the graph is sloped, and there is a lot of activity overnight. I tried disabling WIFI and Google Now, but that didn't help.
I really do not want to do a factory reset. I don't think that will help. Also, I haven't installed any new apps - I'm not sure what it is. The phone displays a lot of wake locks throughout the day as well.
Has anyone run into this problem before and has a more specific solution or approach to troubleshoot? I wish Google hadn't dumbed down their battery info, you really can't get any meaningful information with 3rd party apps. Is there a way to identify what woke up the phone during those time it was dozing?
Looks pretty normal to me. I see just a handful of wakelocks for you. You could always try setting Location to battery-saving mode. Make sure bluetooth is off, see if that helps.
I have the same issue even when in battery saver mode overnight. Sometimes I'll lose 40% in just six or seven hours.
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA-Developers mobile app
So nobody have a solution to this problem? Sometimes it loses 1-2 percent per night, but sometimes about 15, obviously it processes something, I can't understand what, I don't install new applications in monthes.
Most battery stat apps need root after 4.4 but you could use adb if your keen...
Dumpsys System Diagnostics
Viewing Battery Use Data
Battery Historian Graph
Edit: Wakelock Detector has a pc version which could be easier if it works...
having the same issue!!! i also notice my wifi line to be constant even when wifi is switched off!!! which is absolutely strange!!!!
Happy news from me.
I successfully restored Doze Mode in my phone MiA1 Android One 8.1.0 Dec 2018.
Here is how. Go to Developer options, Background check.
Turn the Switches to Off for most Apps except the Critical ones. (Don't Rush, it's not easy to determine the Critical Apps. Choose in stages till the Doze mode kicks in).
Here's a list of System Apps which I have switched off
ANT HALL Service
Calendar
Chrome
FactoryKit Test
Gmail
Google
Google Play ... (all of them)
Maps
Settings
Spock
Translate
____________
You may have to do some experiments.
I could not pinpoint which System Apps were the rogue ones.
I eliminated the possibility of all apps that I installed as the cause.
The rogue apps which prevented my phone entering the doze mode were unknown components of Android OS and Android system (I am hundred percent sure).
My approach is a trial and error one and I expect some malfunction in the future.
BUT, I reconfirm that in my phone Doze Mode is now working.
Here is some inside info. My MiA1 Android One 8.1.0 (Dec 2018) Phone's Doze Node did work for some time after I did all that mentioned, but NOT GOOD enough; again it malfunctioned and continuous 3% per hour battery consumption by Android OS was noticed with totally idle phone.
(Then deleted cache data of all apps including system ones. DID NOT HELP. So my advice is don't waste your time doing this).
(Remote all syncing of all apps. DID NOT HELP).
LAST Attempt. Deleted App data and also cache data of Google Play services. It takes some time to initiate and it was OK. May have worked, not sure as Google/Android meanwhile updated its Google and other related apps in the Google Play Store.
Now the REAL Good News
It's now 3 days my phone's Doze Mode is ACTUALLY WORKING!!
Now the screen-off battery consumption is 0.7% per hour which includes non-doze mode. The doze mode works even when the phone is in the pocket and moving. You only need the screen to be switched off.
This has been my phone's normal behaviour for last 3 years (since September 2017)
I perhaps want to thank @google / @ANDROID for getting rid of the buggy update of August 19 on September 5.
Hi All,
We have two S7 Edge units - 1 from T-Mobile the other from AT&T. Both are having a battery drain issue.
It seems Android Kernel and Android System are draining the battery constantly. The phone doesn't seem to be falling into deep sleep either.
Average rate of battery drain is 7-10%/hr while idle (screen-off).
The T-Mobile phone has the "U Firmware" installed.
The AT&T Phone is stock with the latest OTA installed.
I've attached the GSam statistics here:
https://i.imgur.com/sfCeHoj.jpg
Note: I've tried the following
Disable Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Location, NFC
Disable Google Backup
Disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Scanning (Location Services)
Updating Play Store & Galaxy Store Applications
Removing unnecessary applications
Clearing Cache partition from Recovery
Rebooting 3 times simultaneously
I just can't seem to get there. I'm on stock, latest, unlocked, not rooted. I can go to battery|battery optimization and turn off battery optimization for apps but Bluetooth isn't listed. I can go to apps, show system apps, see Bluetooth, it shows battery is being optimized, if I click to change it takes me to list of apps like above where I could do it but Bluetooth isn't listed.
It's kind of important, I'm a diabetic and wear a glucose sensor but the phone loses touch with the sensor too often. I have to carry my old phone just for that at the moment...
Thanks!
MC
This workaround may help.
I experience the same with my OnePlus 7. I think I deactivated all battery saving options for xdrip+ and even disabled the "sleep standby activation" in the androids battery > battery optimization > advanced optimization settings. But still one hour after falling asleep my device doesn't get any more readings until I wake the screen. Could you find a solution? Perhaps we have to flash a custom ROM to get rid of some unadjustable system settings?
I will try the workaround from Glaux. Needs another night.

Advanced battery optimisation
Hi
There is an advanced menu accessed from the battery optimisation page, the one with all the apps.
You need to click the 3dots and select it. It seems directly related to bluetooth and the other radios sleeping.

My husband got a Tab A 10.1 last year for Christmas and uses it mainly for streaming music on YouTube and surfing marketplace on Facebook. While I know both apps are battery hogs, the battery drain is still unreal. Just having the tablet on the "home" screen for 5 mins will drain the battery 14%.
I have either removed or disabled all the apps not needed, have optimization setting set (says battery life is over a day haha), brightness is low and on auto, and also have an auto app kill installed to stop apps in background. Have gone through and removed background permission and set allowed open background to only 2.
Short of rooting, which I prefer to not do with the lack of options, is there anything else that I can do here? Is this a common issue with this tablet?

If you are having that kind of battery drain just on Home screen, without the music or facebook apps running, either the battery is bad or you have some kind of malware. Have you tried factory reseting the tablet? Or running malware detection app?

I have run the built in tablet scan for virus and malware threats but have not installed an independent app. I will try that though and see what happens. I will also look and see if this tablet is still not under warranty, but honestly just going a phone repair to have battery replaced might be cheaper and faster than sending back to Samsung. Thanks for the help.
