Hello - ive been an avid reader of the forum and wanted to say thanks to all the devs for there hard work.
Just a few questions to help me understand a little more about this. I have been using roms for a little bit now and i am wondering if there are any stable roms. I have problems such as not being able to play videos on YT or FB unless i do a reboot, GPS works on and off but aside from that all else is good. Are these normal issues or is there a ROM someone can recommend for me?
My Phone:
Model Number: SM-N900W8
Baseband Version: N900W8VLUBMJ4
Kernal Version: 3.4.103-TEMASEK-CM11 - HLTE-V3.95-EXP4+
I use to youse CM11 KitKat official but had lots of problems with phone shutting off, resetting, freezing, etc.
Any help would be great folks
Maybe it is the problem of your kernel settings ie. undervolting and frequency. I personally use Temasek CM11 but I find RCELITE S5 rom good too

Am i able to use a S5 rom on the Note 3?
Do you have a link for your Temasek CM11??
Thanks for the help so far.
Yes, I would recommend the RC Elite s5 port and as requested here is the link for the Temasek CM11 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2687074

You say you are using the CM11 and not the S5... What are the main differences you find between them both?

ok ok - last question.....unless you like helping me out with answering my questions
I am assuming ART is an app used instead of the stock s pen program? I looked up ART on Google Play and was not able to locate it...does it have a full name?
You feel like giving me a little crash course on all this stuff we have been talking about as i dont think i know all the pieces of the puzzle.
thanks again
art is found in developer options, it makes your phone faster and better battery go to about device, tap on build number 7 times, press back and open developer options and enable art

- Test notes for MokeeOS
More information coming on..
Why you are not porting the Lollipop ROMs from u8860 ?!?!
Because they do not work. Why? Because ROM is made in a way that do not support u8800pro.
Sound quality in CM/MK/BeanStalk/BlueLighting?
Sound quality/volume is same in all roms. Quality is good and in call volume is okay.
Do you test these roms?
I test the Cyanogenmod and MokeeOS builds and I'm trying to test them immediately after desalesouche uploads them. Currently I'm not planning to test other roms.
Do you test the rom with dalvik or art?
So far I have been tested the roms with dalvik only.
Which rom is the best?
There is no answer for that. Personally I prefer CM roms and sometimes MK. Test different roms and use that what do you think is the "best" one and suitable for you needs.
Multi-tasking?
Difference's. The more you have apps installed the more laggier your phone gets.. You need to test which rom suits your needs the best.
Bluetooth? Does it work?
Should be ok, send a message if not. When you enable bluetooth, device name is "Huawei Honor" instead of Pro. I can't affect that device name when I do these ports.

I do not remember there were any minor bugs. But 44.3 is stabler, 44.4 is sometimes slower and not so good in daily use compared to 44.3. That is my opinion.

App to External SD card
Hi!
I tried Beanstalk.
It seems a very good rom. But i got a trouble. I cannot move apps to external sd card.
Since i go very huge-memory-eater apps i spent the internal memory right away.
Can anyone give some help?
Thanks in advance
I've tried all versions of des's roms. Even though I appreciate his work and devotion, those roms are NOT stable enough for daily use on pro.
Personally speaking, the best rom for pro right now is CM11 by CrysisLTU. I know it can be cool to have some of the neat features of des's roms, but they simply aren't optimized for our device (even though honor and pro are almost identical).
So, my advice is go for CM11 by CrysisLTU if you plan on doing some multitasking (eg Music & Browsing).

I disagree, I have used CM11 build 20140621 for a month now as a daily driver. It's stable, it's not laggy or sluggish and everything works. But some of the builds is not stable and the performance is poor so they cannot be used as daily driver, like CM11 build 20140701 seemed to be sluggish when I tested it. I have not tested some heavy multitasking or playing high-end games (if you do not count 2048 ) with these roms.
I should test CrysisLTU rom some time..
Thank you very much!

Hello guys i am in need of advice,
I'm a note 3 owner, i flashed my phone and rooted it from 4.2.2 and now im using a S5 ported rom.
Although it's a good rom i hate the menu's and i just really want the note 3 settings menu back, basicly i want the old KK back that was made for the note 3.
The problem is: i am constantly searching for a good rom that has download booster and the new battery saver added into it. i'm constantly searching throughout the forum but i just can't find the right one.
Which ones are you guys using on your note 3 with which kernel and do you maybe have an idea on which rom has these things beside a s5 ported rom?
Thanks in advance :good:
There's a plenty of other roms in the development thread. Perhaps you should try multiX v2.0. Personally my phone is using x-note and DU sometimes but people's choice are different, so try each of them yourself.

Hey,
been a while since I been here(from back in the days of my Galaxy Nexus). I just picked up a Note 4. I like it. I somewhat dislike the TouchWiz and hate how out of box it's using 1.8-2GB of ram on start up(assuming because of TouchWiz).
Is there any roms out there that run practically stock Android(pref. 5.0 Lollipop?) but still have the S-Pen suite enabled, including the part when I pull my S-Pen out it notices it and gives me that "Air command" menu.
One last plus would be something that gives me the ability to still use fast charge 2.0.
I looked up a couple of roms but unless I missed something they don't offer these features.
Any help? I have the Canadian N910W8 model and use it on Band 4 AWS/UMTS(3G) and LTE on various freq's so the radio would(should, preferably stay in-tacked)
Thanks!
I don't think this belongs in this section man, maybe ask it in the Q and A. It will probably get moved.
On answering your question, at this stage there is no stock aosp rom that supports spen functions. It's a little bit of a dream for most users. Although I hear that lollipop will be faster than stock, that's what I've read.

That's wrong. There is S-Pen functionality in cm12 at this moment. All you have to do is download and install one or two apps from Play Store. This apps are even free.
It is CM S-Pen en Note Buddy. I have installed them myself and S-Pen does work.
Found this the other day https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.steadfastinnovation.android.spenlauncher&hl=en
Im running cm12 with the following
s pen launcher
cm s pen add on
note buddy
papyrus
this gives me basic s pen functions but is more than adequate for my needs

You are not entirely right either. There are free versions of this apps, but for full functionality you have to pay, not that there is anything wrong with it, just stating the fact. Also you have some s-pen functionality, but not all of it, and in my opinion CM12 s-pen functionality is somewhat less fluent and intuitive then TW one. Regardless, I still prefer CM than TW
I would also like to know how is this thread relevant to Development section

Be careful throwing around the word 'wrong'. I did say as far as I know, just trying to help someone out. There is apps you can use with cm or some other aosp roms, but it's nothing like the spen features you get from within TW. Not that I'm a big fan of it myself, I have quite a few gripes myself, *cough* performance... But for the multi window and spen features, presently if you use them all, TW is it for now.

I have the same phone as you. So far LiquidSmooth and the Unofficial CM-12.0 are the only Lollipop builds that can even use the S-Pen (Unless you know of others). You won't get the TW features of course. I'm very slowly looking into building a AOSP Lollipop rom that is custom built for our N910W8 devices. I've never built my own before so it is a lot of learning.

It *should* be doing that. Unused RAM is wasted RAM. It's caching stuff for speed so that the next time it needs to load up something, it can check if it still is in RAM already. It's not a TouchWiz thing.

You can still install it on other versions of the Note 4. Just expect some things not to work. If your running the CAN version of the Note 4 I don't recommend using LS atm due to very poor battery life on this model.

Has anyone tried converting all the original s-pen apps to user apps with titanium backup, and then doing an app and data backup of them from the stock ROM, installing CM12, and then try to install them?
I'd try it myself, but I'm asking on behalf of a mate, not for myself. I think there's a possibility that it might work. It's gotta be worth a try..
I've got CM12 on my S4, and it's awesome.

Yes, there is. You can fin it in the Original Android Development section. The maintainer is AntaresOne. He has 2 versions. One is the official nighlies and the other is an optimized version.
You can go for either one or, you can choose one of the other roms based on CM12 or CM12.1.

It's because this forum is not a helpdesk. It takes 1 second to type "Cyanogenmod I9505" in Google or in the xda searchbar. Most developers don't like these kind of people in their rom threads but it lowers the quality of discussion dramatically.
It's the same for the question you asked in the CM optimized topic. It's not a helpdesk and it has nothing to do with that particularly rom. You can easily test which rom is more stable for you by flashing it.

My first rom was the 5.0.1 GPE rom, then tried CM12 Optimized builds, SaberMod CM12 and 12.1 builds and I am now currently running Resurrection Remix rom.
The most stable from the bunch (for me) was the GPE rom. The fastest and smoothest (for me) seems to be Resurrection Remix.
All of them ran stable for me, with no bugs or serious problems that could not be solved.
CM12 has reached a final version. The developer works on 12.1 now. CM12.1 nighlies is the most updated of the bunch.
Now, for the flashing. Before flashng you might want to backup your stuff. This requires root. You can use CF-Auto-Root to do it. Warning: This will trip knox.
Just google search "root s4 cf auto root" and follow the instructions in the thread. CF-Auto-Root does not work with all s4 variants, so make sure you have the right one.
If you don't want to backup anything, then you can just skip to installing a custom recovery.
There are 3 to choose from: CWM, TWRP or PhilZ Touch recovery.
I use TWRP. You should be able to flash it with Odin. Google on how to flash a custom recovery on the s4. Even if they are for different android versions, it's basically the same process.

Use it with KT Kernel. It gives you lots of customizability. You may have a green tinting at first, but this can be easily fixed. Settings > Display > LiveDisplay > Color Calibration and set all values there to 50% and hit Ok. Then just change the brightness so the changes take effect. Otherwise you will have to reboot.
Or you can use it with the default kernel.

You could try temasek cm13, or resurrection remix. Both are very light builds.
Android 5.1.1 is a very stable version, dark lord 5.1.1, music liber version ,phronesis Last version, aroma music Last versions.

thanks for replay , i have to read more about those ROMs cuz i dot want to be in the same issue before like i did almost every time i flash the ROM
I have been using CyanogenMod 12.1 nightly builds for over a year now and it's stable, very close to pure android (with some addons) and is just great.

i have bad experience on that ROM on Note3 Unlike Note1 work just fine.
I really like rayman95 light version of ROMs but the issue is the device never recognize my language at all , I have no problems with English but many important emails and messages I can't read it at all and so far I don't know anyway to flash language pack "ARABIC".
Any updates on this? I have the same device, recently got it, want to see if there's a good rom to run to get rid of all the non-sense bloatware from the branded ROM that I have.
try this one: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2718684
download here: mega:#!bEVRVZpZ!goal7Ku3guATOe7O-376r2YcO4-RfzSx459lN6fK6Ic
it's an android 4.4.2 version tho, will try it myself too
edit: or this 5.1.1 android - https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/development/slim-kiss-t3091848
LE: i've came to the conclusion after flashing 5 custom roms that original firmware is the best, unrooted... and you wanna get rid of the bloatware (like all of us do), just disable the unwanted apps
GL ALL!
