I was thinking about trying to load the windows 10 preview on my Venue 8 Pro, I was wondering if there were valid reason that this is a bad idea before I get too far into it.
It's working OK on mine. I not crazy about the Win8 apps not truly being full screen. Also, I can no longer swipe down to close an app.
I did it, it's OK but not ready for prometime on a device of that size. If you have a full sized laptop, Win8 tablet or PC, go for it but I would advise you to stay away from this firmware on the Venue 8 - Unless you make a backup disk there is no going back, either, and trying a factory reset removes all trace of your Windows License and other stuff, thankfully mine is going to be flashed back to factory settings by Dell as they repair my screen under warranty but this wont be possible for most people.
Wait until Windows 10 is ripe before installing it onto minature tablets
Lucky for you windows 10 is a free upgrade as of today.
Try it, but image your system first!
I took windows 10 for a test drive, but not before making an image backup to my SD card.
I liked the interface of the new windows and some of the enhancements. As expected for a technical preview, it was not fully functional for me, so I went back to 8.1. I liked what I saw and look forward to the free upgrade.
Recovery from the image was without issue.

So I just got a dell venue pro a few weeks ago from a friend, it was basically new, and i finally got it carrier unlocked, but i CANNOT get it to update from 7.0.7403.0
everything seems to work fine, i downloaded the most recent zune software, i connect the phone and it has me rename it, everything works fine at this point (sync and connection are OK), the software recognizes there is an update, so i hit "update now" and it begins to update.
from this point it will stop at random spots, usually at step 6/10 "resetting phone" is where it quits most, usually getting stuck on the dell logo, but sometimes at 15% or 20%...either way it will freeze the zune software or freeze the DVP itself and i'll have to remove the battery to get it to work again...
anyway, if anyone knows how to fix whatever is wrong with it, i really want to get it updated.
I've heard of weird problems like this. People having to try the update multiple times before it will be successful. One person said he had to try using a Windows Vista PC before it worked. If you have another machine, even if it's also Windows 7, try that next. Also make sure you are using a high quality USB cable of appropriate length.
I just tried a few different USB cables, the furthest point i get to now is step 6 of 9 "restarting your phone" and the phone freezes at DELL logo. Has done that 3 times now...
this is a pretty poor first experience with Windows phone
yessssssss victory.
for anyone having any similar problems i tried like 3 USB cables since i dont have the original Dell cable (dont know if that has anything to do with it really) and 3 different computers too, finally got an XP machine to do it.
my phone froze during my first attempt, so i pulled battery and did it again. phone was backing up and "resetting"
but it never reset, it just went to dell logo and froze.
i was pissed so i just pulled battery and made it update the exact same setup again
for some reason this time it did the entire update until the final 9/10 reset, which it froze at too.
however this time when i disconnected the phone to pull the battery the zune software didnt throw an error or even look like it knew the phone was disconnected.
so i pulled battery and held down Pwr Vol Camera to put it in that software mode and plugged it back in, it acted as if it had successfully reset and finished the update...Finally, this was way more trouble than its worth IMO.
hopefully anyone that has the same issue will get some satisfaction from knowing it can be overcome.
+ im still getting random resets when using Wifi and the market, so im going to swap my 8 gig card for a 32 and see if that can be cleared up too.
+lol, 32 gig card swap is a breeze and ive had no issues yet. sweet.
Make sure to get all of the WP and firmware updates so you won't have the wifi bug. I think the larger SD card isn't a permanent fix but it's fixed with a later update. This update is worth the trouble
If you feel adventurous, you can force an update to 8107 too

You know I see this phone such a fine piece of hardware and when I read about problems people have or get into with this phone... it really disappoints me. I thank god my DVP works perfectly fine since day one. The phone is also updated to the latest and I got tmobile service on it. Everything works fine. I hope I don't ever run into any problems. You guys know whats up in making the custom roms? Man I want to post some info in the other developer thread but I am not allowed yet until I get 10 posts. I am helping currently a reseller on ebay with some DVP he has to fix and probably can provide technical information if needed.
I recently got a Yoga Tablet 2 8 with Windows on it. After playing with it, I can say I officially hate Windows 8.1 for tablets. I'm willing to give Windows 10 a chance in a couple months, but in the meantime, I'd really like to flash it with the Android. Has anyone done this? Can I just take the factory Android image from Lenovo and flash it? I'm assuming the hardware is nearly identical between the two versions outside of the increased hard drive size. Thoughts?

I really wish this question would get some lovin'

Hello !
realy realy interesting to by this subject.
You Can use the version RC3 of android x86.
http://www.android-x86.org/releases/releasenote-4-4-r3
you will need of rufus software to burn the .img file on a USB stick.
http://rufus.akeo.ie/
don not use the .iso file but img file, and don't forget to disable secure boot in bios/uefi (last version_02WT18WW).
http://support.lenovo.com/fr/fr/products/tablets/yoga-series/yoga-tablet-2-851
you will need to an USB hub because Grub menu does not support touch screen on first boot.
usb keyboard required.
it work pretty well.... it's very smooth !
exect : Bluetooth (I don't realy need) / rotation (but you can use an app from play store) / Sound :crying:
that the real problem ..WOLFSON is a special driver.
some guy are working on this subject.
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/android-x86/BMSMwG0s-fc/Z3lCSiqRIAAJ
a android version of this tablet does exist.. so, I'm surprising that it's so difficult to port android to the Yoga tablet 851-f
If somebody have the solution or a patched img to run correctly android on this tablet it will be really helpful.
pff... why i bought the windows version ?? why ??:silly:
Thanks, sound is a must, will follow this thread closely.
I know, this is old, but why don't try remix OS ? it will be the best android experience on tablet
Again, this is old thread, but I tried Remix os and Phoenix os. Both got stuck on black screen after some white text. IDK why. Any suggestions?
I haven't used my Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 for a long time, but I had clean-installed Windows 10 with all the drivers, but I have the problem that at some point after the clean-install it starts bluescreen'ing right at Boot-time.
Bluescreen error shows ntfs.sys being the problem. I'm sure it's driver-related, or settings-related, because it only happens a few hours after I set everything up again (software, my settings etc.)
I would like to use my Yoga Tablet 2 again for simple reading stuff on the side etc, also due to the nice 'n large 6400 mAh Battery, but I'll have to troubleshoot the Bluescreen Error :/
Hi All
Has anyone had any luck updating this device to windows 10.
I have it installed, got every driver installed but the touch screen is a mess clicks seem to be a mile away from your press, rotation is the reverse (screen upside down), plus the windows button doesnt work and just clicks the centre of the screen.
IRO PRO 8-inch-windows-8-tablet
Cheap and cheerful device for my son, which I cant roll back to windows 8.1 (deleted recovery to install).
Can anyone help me out, so close to getting this working, and it must work because IROPRO 8-windows-10-tablet
But I've had no luck contacting them for drivers, and Silead who produce the screen are just as quite.
Does anyone have this device and can share there drivers?
Long shot but this felt like the best place to ask.
I already made it
Installed win 10, and everything works exept both cameras.
If the thread is still actual I will tell you how (where to take the appropriate drivers).

So recently I decided to reinstall Windows 10 for my iRULU 2-in-1, model W10, but I had no idea this would cause things like my webcam, sound, HDMI, SD card reader, battery detection, touch screen, and more to all stop working. And the website where you would have been able to get a W10 image for the device, is no longer online (I guess iRULU has dissapeared or something). The tablet is nearly useless at the moment with half the stuff on it no longer working, and my search for the drivers have turned up nothing. If anyone happens to have an OS image for the device or something, that would REALLY help me out.
Did you find anything? I am still looking for it as well. I had the firmware but then I deleted it or lost it I don't remember where.
I just found back this tablet in a drawer and I was to try either an install of Linux (I have some good clues for that) or an Android x86 (seems to be feasible as far as I have seen from other BayTrail tablets).
But before that my tablet is ready to help if someone needs something on it before I wipe W10. If so, drop me a line
I'll keep it for some time under W10 because I will try on another BayTrail tablet where the process is well documented...
Hello, Good Day,
I was using this iLife Zedbook 10.1" 2in1 Netbook with windows 10 home which was preinstalled when I purchased it, it was fine till recently and updates were downloaded and installed but a recent update made the Zedbook not booting up Win 10, Only get stuck(Bootlooped) at iLife logo, So i watch few video of iLife Air(Cuz there wereno videos regarding technical issue for Zedbook except unboxing and stuffs) and finally got the firmware from iLife official site for the exact part number and made it bootable using Winpe_x86 and flashed it, but unfortunately it did more damage than installing Win 10 into my Zedbook. Now the Zedbook turns on but displays nothing only some kind of white parts here and there on the screen, As far as I know it might be a UEFI installation error (I might be wrong, I am just a noob)
Please someone who can help me with it, TIA

Hi, I hope someone reads this, lol, I have a similar problem, exact same netbook, I reinstalled windows 10 but for some reason there are no drivers for the network adapter, the touchscreen doesnt work, no sound, basically the keyboard, touchpad, and monitor work, and i cant find any official downloads of any kind or even find out what brand of hardware is inside to even go to that website and get drivers, if anyone can help, I'm at a dead end TIA
