I saw that when it came out. Competition is good for watchphones even if there are in their infancy.

It looks like the announcement of the iPad 2 is making Samsung rethink it's pricing strategy on the Galaxy 10.1. We can only hope that Xoom follows suit.
Would be too late for me! I got it for $600 anyway but i don't think Moto will budge in general. Perhaps with limited time offers.

I wonder if they will be better with the updates since the galaxy tab 10.1 is supposedly a Android 3.0 reference device (no touchWiz)
I can care less about anything made by Samsung. They need to rethink its policy on how they treat their customers here in the states it is rediculous that it has taken them so long to come out with froyo and I am fairly certain since they are coming to market with new phones that the galaxy lineup is not going to gingerbread. They get your money and leave you and move to the next. They really need to think a little more and get rid of the horrible touchwiz interface. Bad implememtation of the file system (even my mom and fiance hat that their fascinate lags so much), cheaply made plastic phones, and especiallystill no support for GPS. I don't know what they are doing but they sure as hell aren't supporting the phones they sold this last year. I will never buy anything samsung I know I would be pretty upset if I bought the galaxytab and now the price gets cut numerous times nd is being abandoned left with a phone is.
Even though I don't like Apple, the iPad 2 looks too irresistible, and with those prices Apple is winning this battle for now. The first iPad is now down to $399, and for somebody like me, who mainly wants apps, games, and movies, sounds like a no-brainer. That's the reason why I returned my xoom; lack of apps and games, no option to buy or rent movies, and for $799 plus tax I felt disrespected. Somebody better do something ASAP or else.
And yes! I'm whining!

I was "test driving" the GN in Samsung's flagship store in Sratford on a recent trip. I was very impressed with its abilities and my understanding is that an ICS upgrade is in the works.
Before I make the jump though I'm curious as to any rumours about a Galaxy Note II. It has been out for more than six months and considering Samsung's penchant for new models I wouldn't be surprised to hear about a new model release within a few weeks. Hence, was wondering if anyone here would recommend me to just a little patient?
doubt you will see or hear any rumours for at least 6 months
I wouldn't expect it until late fall. Looks like maybe they'll go S series spring, note series fall. However in the mobile market these is always something better around the corner. Many other makes have leaked info on note competitors that should be coming fall as well. If you can wait until Christmas I bet you'll have several 5"+ choices.
On my way to school today I noticed a Samsung booth in the middle of a prominent subway station in Montreal (Place Bonaventure). They had the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy Note 10.1 on display for people to try out and ask questions. Naturally I asked if they knew when the Jelly Bean update would be coming to Canada and the guy said the following "I think it's rolling out in the USA so it should be coming soon to Canada, but Canada usually gets it after everyone else". Take from that what you will, it's half right.
Hopefully sales of the Note 10.1 are good, encouraging further development from Samsung. I'd really like to see one with better build quality and better note syncing for viewing on a PC.
Marketing spend is typically a percentage of revenue. Based on their $7.4B in profits in Q3 I'd expect to see a lot more aggressive marketing. Their also supposed to be announcing a rebranding in Q1 2013 that's going to cost over $1B. It's purportedly designed to make them seem less "Korean" and more global while at the same time less cold and more approachable. It's good to be king.
It seems to me that the Note 10.1 marketing is falling off and they are focusing more on the Note 2 phablet.
They really need to get JB on the 10.1 to keep up with the market.
I doubt he had any actual info on that statement.
For me, as long as Samsung keeps its promise (JB before the end of the year), I will be happy. To be honest, I am happy with ICS right now and don't have to have JB.
If you observe Samsung marketing stratergy they will market a product very agresively for a month or two and then they movie on to new product, it happened to S3, Tab2, Note10.1 and then Note2 so that has been their market stratergy for all their products.
What is surprising is for the first time Samsung has rebranded its product that means they want to re market the product as they feel there more potential to it
Wonder if next Edge release date will be moved up too. Assuming there is one...

Samsung, as a company, were idiots last year. They announced the 4 and the edge before Apple and Apple still had phones in the stores before them. Who the hell does that in today's got-to-have-it-now market?!? They would be even wiser to announce it and have it shipped out the next week. That would be impressive.
Having come from years of Nokias to the first iPhone and sticking around until my current one, the iPhone 6s, I have decided I wanted to jump ship and see what else is out there when it comes to smartphones. I have been a big supporter of using phones created by the operating system owner (Apple iOS for iPhone and Google Android for the Nexus and Pixel) but after reading some reviews on the Samsung Galaxy S8, I cannot make my mind up.
I intend to buy the phone outright to save in the long run when compared to contracts/plans so I want to be sure of my purchase.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 comes with some very nice features and from what I've seen, the build quality is great. I haven't played around with one yet but I am quite savvy when it comes to smartphones and technology in general so getting used to the Android operating system will not be a huge deal for me.
Am I making the right decision going from my iPhone 6s straight to a Samsung Galaxy S8? What should I be looking out for?
The S8 is a standout looking device (OTOH I too purchased outright LOL). If you decide to jump to Android but not the S8, at the very least buy a premium device that is comfortable in hand - that's really the only way you'll get a comparable experience to your iPhone. Even though you are tech savvy, there will be a learning curve. I've adapted to many operating systems but still fumble when I pick up an iPhone because I never use one. If you rely on iMessage , there isn't something comparable on Android it seems.
If I was to jump to Android it would definitely be with the S8. Despite the Google Pixel being a top phone I do think that the S8 has the edge.
No doubt about it. My girlfriend used to have an Android (I think it was a HTC) a couple of smartphones ago and I got some early access on that. I do own a Google Nexus 5 that I used for a couple of weeks before coming back to my iPhone 6s so I have had some sort of exposure already.
Android doesn't have an equivalent app to iMessage?
