Just got a phone call from Motorola (on A Sunday!)
They said that due to parts shortages for 32gb Moto X (2014), that even though they've started building my X already, it will be delayed even more and should ship on 10/17.
This is ridiculous. I ordered the darn phone on 9/16, and now it won't even ship until a full month after I paid for it. I'd be just slightly less bitter about the delays if they hadn't charged my credit card on 9/16.
As an apology for the delay they're giving me $25 site credit on the Motorola site. A small gesture that does little to ease the frustration over the whole ordering process fit this phone.
I'm in the same boat. I ordered mine on the 17th and now doesn't ship until the 17th.
ugh, thanks for the update. Moto X 1st gen was like this (I got tired of waiting for the dev edition and just got the AT&T one). With all the customization options I guess supply chain is a bit more complex and tougher to manage?
Either way, I can't seem to get a moto X without having to compromise. This time, I *really* wanted to avoid the carrier tramp-stamps and bloatware, so I went for the pure edition. I have to have 32GB. Tried to pick a black front, but was told it wasn't an option! I do like the look of the white though, so i went for that - but was told there's a delay on white front phones. And now the 32gbs are delayed as well? Ugh.
Anyways, I *just* placed the order today (10/5), and was told it should ship on 10/24. Sad. From what I've seen though, people get their orders shipped earlier than promised.. here's hoping! I ultimately ended up ordering a white front, black leather back, with dark grey trim.

Very strange.
I placed my order on 9/28 and it has a 10/22 shipping date even though it was being built already.

Go onto Motorola owners forum and complain there.
I did that and i finally got some help. Phones not getting here any earlier, but i did get some solid answers as too when i would be getting my phone. For the past two weeks Motorola has told me 10 different stories from Sunday. One of the reps told me that i would get a $25 credit. I told her that i didn't want a credit and that i wanted my PHONES! SO it went up to $60. I told her the same thing again. Then it went up too $100.....needless to say, i held them to it!
That's what they get when EVERY single one of the reps has broken English and reads a script.
My phone has been "built" and waiting for fedex to pick it up for more than two weeks.
Totally ridiculous.
this is strange indeed. i ordered mine on 09/29 and received it on 10/03. i got the 32gb pure edition.

I ordered mine the other day, I think Oct 1. I have a delivery date of 10-09. No call to tell me of changes, mine is a 32 GB black front red back. Here's to hoping that they deliver.

Mine is the Verizon version not the pure. I don't think they were prepared for the demand of the Verizon one
^^ Same here.
Does anyone know if Motorola updates the status again after they send you the "We're building your phone" email? For me its been about a week with no updates since that one.

No change on mine and its been a week as well
Ordered mine on 9/26 and it was in my hand on 10/02. Verizon, 32gb. Black front, navy blue leather, orange trim.
I'm waiting on ordering my white front 32gb from Verizon until I start hearing that these phones are being assembled and shipped regularly.
Got the same phone call. Ordered a Pure Edition 32GB, black front, ebony back, no engraving on 9/16. Original ship date was 10/13. Got the call yesterday that it was pushed to 10/17.

It seems like it's just luck of the draw. I ordered a verizon version, and it shipped more than a week early.
This whole Verizon/Motorla process has been the biggest pain.
I'm on day 3 waiting to hear if they fixed my shipping address and whether or not the order actually processed. I'm getting conflicting results vs what I'm being told such as the fact that the charge is on my card and the PIN says it's been used already...
My struggle
I've been stalking a number of forums concerning the delay in shipping....from what I've gathered 32GB's with engraving have been the worst of the offenders. Adding to that delay is the white front. Quite a few folks ordered a 32GB without engraving the same date and nearly the same time (some sooner, some later in the day) as I did...and they received phones last week. I think engraving slowed my order and the they became low in stock with the 32GB.....
Yeah, I was silly enough to order engraving.
I ordered my 32GB Verizon on 9/28. On 9/29, I decided I wanted leather and asked Moto if I could still change it to upgrade. I was told the phone was already built and that it was waiting to be delivered to the warehouse. Why are you delivering a built phone to a warehouse and not to me? And my expected delivery date is still 10/23.

According to a handful of websites the Droid X "has been arriving at customer's doorsteps" early
my question is HOW??? There is nowhere to pre-order the Droid X online or on the phone, so how the hell are "customers" receiving them early??
Best Buy you have to physically be in the store to pick up the pre-order as they do not take your address or anything when you pre-order, wtf are they babbling about??

EDIT- Apparently if you had ordered an Incredible and were told it was backlogged and switched to X, then u get urs early
Dude, you can order them from Verizon stores and have them shipped to you. I also think there was a way to pre order online or by phone.
I am with the first dude. I was really under the impression that Verizon did NOT except any pre-orders, just BB. I have read so many articles and have been in the Verizon store many times. The closest Verizon came to taking pre-orders that I know of is making in store appointments for the 15th or allowing people the already order the incredable to switch.
Actually the early Droid X arriving was a mistake on Verizon customer service system part , has nothing to do with the Droid Incredible, they accidentally shipped out 170 units to customer but they couldn't even activate them until a few days ago where Verizon figured out how to early activate these early bird device b4 the July 15th launch date.

Ok sorry, i am still not getting it or making my point. Why did verizon ship out any phones to customers if verizon did not take pre-orders? I can see them maybe shipping some out early to stores in error. Pre-orders still had to take place for Verizon to have the addresses to send these phones in error. And all web info indicates that Verizon did not allow or take pre-orders.

EXACTLY!!
Why are cutomers getting phones when there was no possible way to "pre-order" staright from verizon????
I went into a corporate store and tried to order and they told me to come back the 15th first come first serve!!
For whatever reason, the 170 people who got their phones first were by a rep that somehow got the order in, or by people who had been waiting for incredibles but changed to the droid.
Or they are just trying to build the buzz for the official launch. Be interesting to see if these early releases are spread out across the country and most of them close to major markets.

My thoughts exactly...
Went in today and played with it... must say it feels very good in-hand. Buttons were NOT wonky. Screen was gorgeous, and was very thin and light. Did not feel cheap in any way!!!!!! : )
... so excited for thursday!
man, i also cant wait for tomorrow. I luckaly have the day off but i have my 9mo old son with me so i really cant go too early and stand in line for hours. I am really nervous that people will be "camping out" way early and that i will not get my hands on one. I guess i have to mentally prepare to be dissapointed.
I am also wondering if the hype is blown up and if there will really be lines for hours. I guess time will tell. i hope everyone here that wants one and thats is as excited as i am gets one.

Return it and get another one. Or, if they have good service, they'll refund you the $150.
Sweet deal.
Does the 14 day return policy go into effect when you receive the phone or when you order/they ship the phone? I wonder if a lot of the 11/11 orders might be able to squeak in a return/price match if the former.
I'm hoping that will happen for me. I talked to them and they say there are going to get back to me. I also sent them an email.
Oh man. I am in on this.
Now I just need to decide which one to get.
Currently using 8.9 GB on my HTC One and the 16 GB Moto X only comes with 11.9 free, so that would leave me with 3 GB Free. Hmm. Probably need to get the 32 GB. Damn.
Then it's Dev Edition vs custom T-Mo. I like the black front because it blends with the screen. Not so sure about the woven white back of the Dev Edition though. It's one of the more slippery backs if I recall. The woven black feels nicer in hand I would guess since it's softer.

I called they wouldn't refund the $150 but offered me $50 in accessories which I don't need so they gave me a $50 Visa gift card instead. Best I could do without having to go through the hassle of returning the phone and ordering another one and waiting a week or two for it to be delivered.

Yep that's the reason I was given for not refunded my money. I ordered a week ago and just got it Monday. I got 18 months same as cash financing through Motorola so not too disappointed as I kind of expected it.

If you buy another phone on Monday and return the old one for a refund its a 4-6 week wait for a refund. Also from experience you have to have ALL the packaging the old one came in. I keep everything in the box, plastic bags, rubber bands, etc., just in case of getting hassled on this.

My return for refund has been processed. They are sending me a return label via email and I'll ship it out tomorrow. Luckily, I kept all the packaging, plastic, charger etc in the office so it's just a matter of factory resetting and sending it back.
So I have been dead set on getting this phone to replace my aging HTC Rezound even though its running KitKat pretty damn well. I have been holding out for the wood backs but they seem to be no where in sight and this is too good of a discount to pass on especially when its priced the same as the N5. So my question is should I get a Verizon MotoMaker 32GB version of the Developer Edition (just in case the dev community picks up)?

I wanted to return it out of principle but then the hassle of waiting up to another 2 weeks for a phone doesn't sit well with me. After having to pay to ship it back and they then deduct the original shipping charges out of the refund I'd only save about $130 so with the $50 gift card I'm only out $80.

On one hand, the phone is really amazing stock. You would lose the features that make the Moto X so good by flashing custom roms. On the other hand, there isn't much development on the Moto X and root for future builds/releases may not come. With the Dev edition you'll never have to worry about root (recoveries may be another story).
I'll, most likely, get another Dev edition.

I would go with the dev edition, which I have, just because it comes with an unlockable boot loader out of the box. It's pretty much the closest thing to a Nexus you'll get without buying one and for $400 its a steal. I love this phone too, a lot more than my Nexus 4 but the battery life is about the same. Its a little slippery though as the white back on the dev edition isn't rubberized.

Yea I've never been a huge fan of white phones as I feel they'll start showing their dirtyness after being heavily used for an extended period. Also I heard those woven backs are slippery. I could get a super thin case and see if that helps at all. Right now I only see the need too root to get free tethering, ad-free apps and PIE controls via xposed
Decisions, decisions. I ordered on the 18th and received it on the 21st. I wonder if I should return and get another on Monday. Questions will I be able to get another at $350, says supplies are limited.
I got the Navy with Black front and silver accents, I wish the blue was a little lighter so if I reordered I could maybe go with the Royal Blue. I really like the yellow back, but worry about it staining in my pocket (i,e. wearing blue jeans).
So i placed my order via T-Mobile Underground today, They are saying it will be delivered by 12/22/14, so the date of GPS shipping by the 12/19./14 seems to line up. I hope they fixed the light bleed, back cover situation, and power button/volume rocker issue. stay tuned.

THIS.
I was able to sneak in an order the first time the 64gbs went up on googs site. but the shipping delays and all that nonsense was just too much. im not used to that (normally on launch day i just walk into a store and get the phone) and im not going through that again.
i sincerely hope this nex 9 t mobile lte tablet will be pure vanilla like the nexus 6 is. we wiill see.
i called the t mo cs to ask if i could trade in my nexus 9 wifi (i just got a new RMS unit a week ago so this tab is pratically mint).wanted to know the max i can get before i just return it to goog or sale it on fleabay. its too new in the system to give a quote on so i have to walk into a t mo copr store. i am a sprint user and have never been on any other carrier since 1998 so lets hope t mo's store reps are helpful.
I might return my WiFi n9 if this will work on Verizon.
N9 I have has some issues with screen bleeds and the back cover . returnable to amazon till end of January

right, so tmo tell me they dont offer sat shipping, and that what i paid for was NEXT DAY (i.e. monday in this case) shipping. EVEN THOUGH on the order page it had an option for sat deliver and the invoice i received stated sat(today) deliver.
chatted up those cats at tmo and they will waive my shipping charge. homeboy wrote that they do not offer sat shipping ,only next day for 24.99. again, wrote to him that the webpage offered sat ship at 24.99.
whatevs..

Build quality seems a lot better. Buttons slightly raised, no light bleed whatsoever. A tiny bit of flex but nowhere near like the previous WiFi models I had. Updated as soon as I turned on to 5.01. Anyone think they might screw up as bad as they did with the note 4 preorder/launch? I bought mine online earlier this week. Think it will be there tomorrow? When and where do I get my $100 gift card?
They gave me a paper gift card right at the mobile counter when i picked up my phone. They had trouble finding my order, but eventually found it. They weren't really sure what provider's phone got release on what day, but overall it wasn't too bad. Used the gift card to buy some accessories while i was there.

Hah nevermind i forgot different carriers are doing different days duh
I don't have much faith right now. I sure hope that changes in the morning and I get a confirmation email that my order is ready.
I pre-ordered 2 phones, 1 on May 29, another on May 31.
I called today about 4 pm and the guy told me that pre-ordering doesn't guarantee that I get the phone on a specific day, just that it's on order. I just said that would he very disappointing and hung up.
I called again about 8pm and was told they have received phones and are still going thru them and that if mine came in I would get the email once it's scanned. I guess that's better than the earlier info.
Of course, the day I ordered the first phone, neither rep working knew when the phone was released and neither one about the gift card. I had to tell them about both so clearly not many people, if any, had ordered a phone in store prior to me.
I ordered mine early this week online and it said I'd be getting it by tomorrow, white version that is. We shall see if it holds to be true or if I have to wait another day.

I pre-ordered my Verizon Metallic Gray G4 on May 22nd and it is supposed to get here tomorrow (June 5th) but I have not received any kind of email confirmation. So while I'm optimistic, I don't have much hope with their shipping atm.
When I check order status online, i see: Order Status:: 1 item(s) - Order in process of being fulfilled.

Ordered the Titanium Black (is it leather?) Verizon model last week, it shipped today and should arrive tomorrow.
Which is awesome, since I selected the free shipping option.
I asked about the titanium black since they kept changing the verbage back and forth between "Metallic Gray" and "Titanium Black". I thought maybe it could be the leather as well. But unfortunately I found out that both of those have the same SKU Number. So both actually Metallic Gray, but Best Buy doesn't know how to post the right info.
If you also look at the pictures, there are pictures of the metallic gray. Although there are some group pictures with the blue and black leather together, but mostly the metallic gray. Sorry to burst your bubble

Yep, got the email yesterday afternoon saying its ready to be picked up by UPS and now its in my city awaiting delivery.
When I picked shipping options it said home delivery on something like June 10th or in store pickup on release day. I'll find out in a few hours when they open. If I dont get it today I'll have to promise myself no matter how much free stuff they offer never to pre order from them again.
Got mine yesterday
Preordered on 5/28, picked up my VZW G4 yesterday. The usual cluelessness you expect from Best Buy, but no real hassles.
No, sorry to say that the Titanium black/gray/whatever is not leather. May be picking up a new backing at some point, but for now this is good. Very disappointed that there's only the one Verizon tramp stamp on the back and nothing on the front. How will I remember what carrier I have without reminders stamped all over my phone?
Got a paper "gift card" too, which I thought I might need to wait for.
I got an emailed saying they were delayed. And then like 90 minutes later an email saying pickup was ready. But no matter, I cancelled to do the leather version direct with Verizon which ended up cheaper.

I tried the Verizon store route, but they didn't have any of the leather ones on hand. I paid full retail price to keep my unlimited data plan.
Called Best Buy support yesterday to see where my phone was, and the rep was saying it was "on hold for release." I tried going into the store at noon to see if it was in, and the two people I talked to didn't have a clue. A half hour after leaving the store, I got the email saying my phone was ready for pick up.
Go all the way back to Best Buy, and the person I talked to this time, said the phone wasn't being released until today, the 5th. I asked him why I received the email, and why on the website it showed I could Pick Up today. His response, "that is just a glitch in the system, and he is not authorized to release the phone until he gets the okay from LG."
After suppressing a meltdown, I, as calmly as I could, asked him to show me where it is saying June 5th. He pulls it up (Sprint and AT&T variants), "see right there." I told him to scroll down to the Verizon ones, and I pointed out that it wasn't displaying the same thing. So, after he makes some calls, and walks around the store for 20 minutes, he magically finds the phone.
Then, another 30 minutes of getting the $100 gift card issue worked out, since I wasn't activating the phone at the store. Thankfully, the 5th person of the day handling it was able to make it happen. I had to "return" the phone, and re-purchase in order to get it.
After wasting about 4 hours of my life trying to get this phone (my credit card company initally rejected the online purchase), would have been better off paying the extra $36 at Verizon (full retail is at $549, versus Best Buy's $609). I actually tried pre-ordering the black leather one through Verizon, but I was unable to, even after calling Verizon directly (system error whenever they tried completing the purchase).

I sent in a pixel xl 32 Verizon with a vibrating issue should be received by them this week ill post as soon as it get approved.
Can we use the box that was used to deliver the pixel XL 2? And should I remove the drband skin and screen protector from my trade in device, pixel XL 32gb..
They've had my trade in for approximately 9 business days. Not a word from them!! I'll be calling to find out what's the wonderful process and how long it takes. I'm tired of checking daily! They suck at releasing phones now adding trade in phones to orders. Ugh, what was I thinking. I'll report back.

I was told you could use a box, but to put the phone in the included envelope inside the box.
put the label on the box.
they seem adamant about using the padded envelope for some reason.
myself, I cut two pieces of cardboard to fit inside the envelope, then sandwiched the phone inside of those, put the label on, and wrapped that with clear packing tape.
just dropped off at post office today, will report as it progresses.
I made a copy of the shipping label and taped onto their padded envelope. Used the original label on the outside of a small box I put envelope in. Not sure why they gave us such shoddy envelopes to ship the phones back in?
I received my 2 XL on Thursday (10/19), but was out of town until Friday. I setup my 2 XL on Friday night and sent in my XL on Saturday. According to the tracking number, my XL will be delivered to Google on Monday (10/23). I'm interested to see how they will determine my trade-in value; being that my XL was a replacement refurbished unit from Google (my original XL just died on me one day). I'll keep everyone posted here.

Mine hasn't shipped yet but I'm in the same boat. My original XL died less than a month ago and I received a refurb too. That wasn't one of the trade in questions asked, so I hope that won't be a problem for either of us.
I have not received my Pixel 2 XL yet but I already sent my original Pixel XL back. It was not my primary phone. I added extra bubble wrap before packing it in the envelope. I also did a video with the time/date on my monitor to prove when I did it. I showed every angle and that the screen is perfect. I also shut it down and booted it up on camera so they can't give me any s*it it is gets cracked in that flimsy envelope they sent.
Cover your a** folks. That envelope will not protect the phone if it takes a hard drop from 4'. They may want that envelope used but mine was huge due to all the extra bubble wrap I covered the phone in.
Trade-In Approved
I ended up trading in a Nexus 6p 64GB which they received on 10/13 per the tracking. No status changes on their site until my Pixel 2 XL shipped today (10/23). I got the email that my Pixel 2 XL had shipped and 5 minutes later received another email stating my trade in was received and how much I would receive back. The amount they approved was the same they quoted, so I can live with that.
The 2nd email I received had the subject "We received your phone for Trade In".
Body started off with: "Great news! We have examined the device you submitted for Trade In, and its value either matches or is more than the estimate."
Note: The only reason I traded in the 6p instead of selling it was that it developed the boot loop due to the 2nd core. It was not purchased from Google (Sprint store) and was out of warranty. I couldn't get Google or LG to replace it and I wouldn't sell it to an individual in that state. I had flashed the alternate kernel that made it run off 4 cores, so it was usable.

Thanks for the update so i guess we wont get any updates untill they ship the 2xl even if they have or trade in for a month which is stupid what if we decide to cancel the order what then for us that have to wait for another month or more
Just received confirmation that my phone has been received and inspected. A credit of $410 will appear on my account soon. They've had my phone for two weeks. My new phone is on the truck for delivery. Finally!!
I've also received an email stating I got the full 410.00 credit. I received my Pixel 2 XL this past Thursday on Oct 19th. Despite all the gripes going around, I'm truly loving this phone and haven't had any of the issues people are complaining about except for the slight blue tint at angles. But, it's hardly an issue that would cause problems with using the phone daily. The muted colors will be fixed either with a software update from Google, or with a custom kernel like Elemental or others.
So....I'm wondering how does this credit work for people who did Google Financing? Are they lowering the finance amount resulting in a lower monthly payment over the full 24 month term or applying the credit as full one time payment resulting in less payments?
