There has been many people with similar issues. The cause is either the headphone socket is damaged and the universal still thinks that there are headphones connected thus resulting in all sound being diverted to the headphone socket or a loose connection has disabled all sound.
Try putting in headphones and see if you hear sound through WM Player - if so then have a search on the forums to see how people resolved issue. I think some may have just kept putting headphones in and out until the socket realised it was free.
Hope this helps.
Matt
please any one can help me ....

Dust
I had this problem - eventually discovered it was caused (in my case) by dust in the headphone socket.
Strangely enough, blowing air (canned air, etc) in the socket fixed the problem for me, and it hasn't reoccurred.

Plug in and plug out the earphones several times to re-route the sound to speakers.

It's your headphone jack
Theres a problem wit hyour headphone jack, i think the bit inside that works out if there are headphones in the device or noot has got stuck to thinking there are always headphones in the slot.
The solution to this is to put the headphones in and out til lyou get sound back, maybe do a soft reset. I dunno I started to get it on my last uni but i had that replaced due to scren failing.
i have no idea?, i put it in and out maybe 100 time it still doesnt work please help me please will pay donation to the soloution which works! please

Same thing happened to me...listened to WMP through headphones...take the headphones out & NO SOUND!!! I could put the headphones back in and hear sound, but NO sound on the phone or sound from WMP w/o the headphones. I G-E-N-T-L-Y moved the 2.5 jack in and out of the audio jack and the sound almost instantly came back...repeat as necessary!

Hi I have problem with my desire hd.....from yesterday top on my screen is Headphones icon so sound and microphone not working.....if i turn speaker on or plug headphones microphone working i dont know what to do.... i try factory set.. still the same please help

my galaxy y earphones not working

yesterday suddenly my earphones started working weird...sometimes the sound came from left plug sometimes frm right and most of the times from neither...i realized that there was some problem with the wire near the jack coz as i moved it the sound used to appear and the next moment disappear...plzzz help me how to fix it as it is my second earphone and its not too much old ...plzz help!!!!!:crying:
Bud use a pin or needle and check if there is something inside the jack, like a metal or wire that short circuits the connection? Clean it, Blow it, then plug in your earphones and tell me it works?
If no then just incase try other earphones, if other works then you have a problem in YOUR earphones!
If still no, then take it to Samsung service centre, they will fix it for you! in this case the problem will be your jack where you put your earphones is damaged, probably due to moving earphone pin like a mad cow!
Hit thanks if helped
