[Q] Bluetooth Headset Remote not Working - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

First of all I want to thank everyone for taking the time to read/respond to my post. I have an unrooted Note 3.
My issue is when I use my jaybird bluebuds x or monster isport freedom bluetooth headsets with my Note 3 the next track buttons do not work. Well.. let me rephrase that. When I hit the next track button is launches the samsung music app and skips that track.
So the button is being registered but it's not working for the active player. Like if I'm listening to pandora and hit next track then the samsung music app launches and skips that track instead.
Is there any way to force (using tasker or something without rooting) the phone/headset to recognize the current active music player instead of the default samsung player?
Thanks in advance for your help!!

It's more likely the app doesn't recognize headset controls.
I've never had stock music player pop up when using the controls with N7player. But it has a menu for headset controls...

Disable the Samsung player in Settings and try? I usually always keep the default apps all disabled and use PowerAMP for my music, never fails me when I use my BlueBuds X.

How do I disable the samsung player in settings? Are you referring to settings for bluebuds bluetooth, cuz I didn't know you could specify specific aps.
I prefer to stream my music so I don't have to organize my music. That's why I use pandora/slacker and not PowerAMP. Thanks though.

Meridian and Bluetooth Headset

Hi,
I install Meridian player and like it very much.
But when I'm using my AD2P bluetooth headset, it launches and changes HTC Music player tracks.
I enabled the "use headset" option in Meridian, but can't find where to disable it for default player.
Any ideas ?
Thanks
I got the same problem.
I tried to disable it with the program Autostarts (paid app)
The buttons don't work if i disable it.
Does anyone have a solution so it works with Meridian.
I also have the problem that sometimes the audio stutters,
and when i play mp3's i hear some variation in the playback speed.
I didn't find any solution yet.
Anybody ?
I have the same problem with Beyondpod and ACast. Dou you have find a solution ?
I tried with default android player..same result: impossible to change tracks.
Only HTCMusic player seems to have this functionnality

The stutter comes from apps that run in the background, i also hope that it will be fixed in android 2.0. when i close everything with taskkiller it works fine.
I tested Meridian with my headset and the same problem. when i press a button like play/pause htc player starts. maybe it works if you remove the htc player?? but i'm not sure.
I tried to kill HTC Music, and later to delete HtcMusic.apk.
Same results, meridian don't work with headset buttons
I've found the stutter is from wifi being on. It keeps checking and using up resources.
I would love the ability to pause/skip tracks in acast and last.fm. Is this something that may be added in the future?

Windows Media Player Alternatives?

So...
WMP sucks... its slow to switch songs... tough to create playlists and freezes up my Ozone whenever I am listening to music and get a txt/email.
However one thing it does do is allow me to use the song select buttons on my stereo bluetooth headset.
What I am looking for is an alternative to WMP that allows the use of those buttons.
I really like Pocket Tunes - clean interface, easy to use... wicked fast song switching but it doesnt recognize the buttons on the Headset.
I havent been able to get Core Player to work on it... keeps giving errors.
Any suggestions or rec's would be greatly appreciated!!!!!
Try Kinoma Play.
i think either vlc or mplayer also has a windows mobile (though it may be in beta)

Pocket Player will use the buttons on the headset, but you MUST go into comm manager and set your bluetooth to stereo and hands free each time prior to using Pocket Player. This happens with some headsets for some reason.
My Jabra BT8010 set works fine without having to go into comm man each time, but my old Motorola set did not.
I 2nd Kinoma Play. Easy UI, good features, smooth operation.

controlling wmp while locked or in another app
I am a newbie coming from blackberry & i have a question. On the bberry, if the phone is locked u can still control the music player by using the volume up/down keys to change volume & change tracks. You can also control the volume & change tracks when not even in the media player screen...for example if i switch over to look at my email....is there a modification that will make this possible on a wm6x phone?
Core player, TCPMP, or HTC Audio manager are good. I made a Titanium HTC Audio Manager panel for my latest ROM. You have to enable it in CHome Config.
Will the voice recognition software work with other players?

Nexus S Headphone Controls

In the winamp app on my N1, I am able to skip to the next track on apple headphones with a double click, but double click does nothing on the Nexus S.
Anyone experience this?
I don't use the Winamp app but it sounds like they didn't add the headset controls feature, other music apps have the feature you're looking for.
I tried to skip forward with the stock music app, winamp, and power amp, but it didnt work. Worked on the N1 though. Anyone else?
idk how ppl use those headphones. they won't even stay in my ears. stick to the apple earbuds
On an unrelated note how does winamp compare to poweramp and the stock music player?

Poweramp has more features, but I like navigating through winamp more.
I just tried the N1 headphones on the Nexus S and...
1 double clicking on the next and prev buttons skip to the next track...weird
I tried the Nexus S headphones with the N1 and...
1 click = play/pause
2 clicks = next track
3 clicks = next track then pause (lol)

changing default music player for bluetooth

i need a bit of help. i'm using bluetooth linking to my car and everytime it queues the phone for music when the link is established then the phone will pull the default music player. i want to change it so that i can have winamp start instead of the default player. its getting rather annoying..
Try going to settings/applications/manage applications/all tab scroll to media room select it then hit clear defaults. Media room is heavily incorporated into the Sense framework so it might be greyed out and not fix your issue but it's worth a try.

Cm 10.2 turn off Apollo on BT connection?

Is there a way to stop the built in cm music player to NOT play when it connects to BT audio?

Late reply, but here are a couple options that might help, depending on your needs:
Personally, I want Google Play Music to auto-play when I start the car, and I don't use Apollo at all. So in settings - apps - all - Apollo, I simply disabled it. Now GPM takes over.
If you don't want ANY music to happen over the BT car link, but you do want phone, (for me) it works to go to the details settings screen of the BT pairing and disable Music Profile while leaving Phone.
If your question is just how to disable auto-play, then I don't know how to help, sorry.
