Bluetooth smart - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Is it in some way (custom rom?) possible to 'enable' bluetooth smart on the Nexus 7 2012?
Kind regards,
Cornelis

I found a solution. The problem is that the hardware is Bluetooth LE/smart capable, but Google has not certified it. I have installed the app "Bluetooth LE enabler" (device rooting required), the app installs the LE drivers.
Another option (I have not confirmed) is to use Cyanogenmod 10.2+.

Yep, the app option works for me. Note that the app is relative expensive.
I don't know if the Cyanogenmod option works. I want android 4.4.4 and the lastest stable Cyanogenmod is not 4.4.4. So I have not tried.

Does SuperNote work?

I'm waiting on buying a Nexus 7 but I'm unsure. Does anyone know if SuperNote works well on the Nexus 7?
The bottom toolbar is cut off and I got a rogue force close after about 10 minutes , but it's mostly functional.
You are talking about the Asus app right?

I ripped v1.51 from my TF101 and it works fine. It doesnt seem to show the bottom 5 buttons on the nexus like but you can get around that by enabling the 'gesture backspace' option, or by clicking the keyboard button. :good: I'd imagine Asus might perhaps include a customised version of this in a future update.
Yea, I'm referring to the ASUS app. I got to play with it at BestBuy yesterday and it was pretty good. I was hoping to get a Galaxy Note 10.1 for school but it appears to be vaporware as of now. The N7+SuperNote would be a nice touch though.
It works perfectly if you change your DPI to 160.

If you like SuperNote but the lack of bottom buttons is a problem (and you're not willing root and try a fix), check out FreeNote. It's the closest alternative and a great app, but personally I still prefer SuperNote.
Thanks for posting those links. The link to supernote is version 1.4 and I have 1.5.

Can i also get a PM? I'd love to take the new version of supernote out for a spin with my new stylus.
Thanks!
I'm sure most of you know but changing your DPI will cause you to have apps not show in the market

Thanks bro. I played with the tab last night and thought it was pretty fast. Obvious speed difference but nothing major' however I bought the nexus 7 16gb so far so good. I'm loving the speed and smoothness. Only one issue. I accepted the update to 4.1.2 and was wondering if anyone knows a workaround for adobe flash player? As always Thanks again xda!

imo the nexus 7 is way superior in terms of hardware and software, not to mention developer support and google support, being a nexus device
Only thing the Samsung has over the N7 is a rear camera but it has, to me, been done as a precaution as to not look like an idiot.

If you're still running the standard 'out of the box' ROM I presume you're running Chrome? Chrome doesn't support flash.
Try a different browser that supports it. (Sorry I can't post links yet but the old Dolphin HD 8.5.1 does I believe)
Flash also works fine with any alternative ROM (Like Paranoid Android) you care to put on the device - using the ROM's supplied browser

I tried dolphin straight from play store so it must be the updated version. I'll try search for an older version of dolphin or try opera maybe? Thanks for the tip!

The latest dolphin does not support flash.
Either download an older one
Or use the AOSP browser, I find that best for flash support for some reason.
All is good. Rooted via toolkit, then installed aosp stock browser and flash. Thanks all!

[Q] Adhoc network connection

I have a Nokia E73 with JoikuSpot installed which tethers with my iPad Mini Retina perfectly but my Nexus 7, which is updated to Android 4.4.4 won't. What is the most recent version of Android, which will run on the Nexus 7, that will tether with an adhoc WiFi connection? Is there another method, such as Bluetooth, which can be used? My Nexus 7 is unlocked and rooted.
CyanogenMod is confirmed as a working solution with regards to this problem.

Anyone make/making the leap?

Kali Linux 2.0 was released yesterday and with that release came an ARM version built for Lollipop, more specifically Nexus 6/9 and One+.
For the laypeople, what's the significance of this? New kernels?

Ya I thought it was an entire ROM now and not just a toolset. Loaded it last night and was disappointed but it is nice to expand the ol' toolbox.
I did not know this had been released. Thank you for the heads up. I wonder if the Nexus 6 wifi chip is capable of monitor mode. The Nexus 7 was not, and required an external dongle.
