[Q] WCDMA not working - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Bought an S4 that was already gsm unlocked. I have an AT&T sim so I know the previous owner did the unlock correctly, however, I can only get Edge as the phone only works in GSM mode. It will not work in WCDMA mode as it drops the radio entirely. I'm on the NAE modem on CM11. I reflashed MK2 and then back to NAE to make sure that was taken care of, but it's still no go on WCDMA. What could I be missing? Thanks.

Repeat the domestic unlock. Previous owner probably missed some step. BTW you will only get HSPA+ on ATT.

[Q] Flashing roms

Hi,
I have SGH-M919V and its unlocked.
I am on Bell and want to use LTE. But this model has LTE disabled. when i enable it, cant make phone calls.
I cant seem to flash T mobile modem via odin. there is this secure boot issue. the AUTH: Fails.
I was thinking of installing Bell SGH-I337M rom on my phone. Is that possible? If so, how do I go about doing it?
Thanks!
Since you have a T-Mobile variant you should ask in the sgs4 tmobile forum...
However your problem with lte/phonecalls is likely just an APN issue
To further assist we would need to know which carrier you are using the device on

Hey. thank you for the reply, I really appreciate it.
I've been asking a lot there. No one is answering.
Please help me out, please.
My phone is Canadian variant, originally from WindMobile - SGH-m919V. Wind uses Tmobile freq. = 1700/2100 (AWS) only. No LTE.
I got it unlocked two days ago, and switched over to Bell carrier. Bell uses the other freq and LTE.
When I do force LTE by *#2263# - and enable all LTE, i get LTE speeds. But NO calling or texting. this is with the original Windmobile stock rom. No modification. No root.
I tried to flash Tmobile modem via odin 3.07, didnt work. I used the phone button to load the modem.bin. It gave me AUTH: Fail, secure check fail.
I agree, wrong forum, but we are here to please....
if you have a M919V then you would flash the rom you want, before you boot, flash a tmo m919V kernel, it will boot, manually add your apn settings for your device, it will work with data/wifi/calls.
Good luck....
Hi, im sorry for posting in this forum.
so if I want to flash the bell rom - I337M stock original rom , how do I flash it without booting??
And then how would I flash the tmobile kernel so then I can boot??
I dont mind keeping my current rom - wind stock. But, I want to be able to use LTE like how tmobile has pentaband 3g plus lte.
:/ .

Please help: Using a Verizon 7 EDGE in a GSM market with new SIM?

How do I get a Verizon S7 Edge to recognize a new GSM SIM? I want to use it on another carrier, and Verizon says it's not SIM-locked/carrier locked but when I put in the new SIM, it's not working.
Factory reset didn't work. Would an Odin flash work? IF not, what would?
Thanks. Not sure if I'm asking in the right place.
Flash the U firmware.
Using odin ^^
Depending on which carrier you are flashing to. You can flash the carrier specific file for whichever carrier you want, for example if you want to use it with T-Mobile you can download the T-Mobile Odin and PIT files to flash and it should work fine. Same with AT&T.
Or do as said above and flash the 935U firmware and it'll work fine. Though with this option there's no carrier extras like VOLTE, or wifi calling as far as I know.
I used another Sim on Verizon firmware. Look somewhere in connection settings. There was smthn about which network you want to use Verizon CDMA or GSM. Now i'm on U firmware.
A t-mobile SIM worked fine for me after entering the new APN settings. For best performance though, flash the U firmware to unlock the bands.

Enabling AWS bands on Telus I337M 4.2.2

I have a telus galaxy s4 that is running 4.2.2. I unlocked it using "Regionlock Away". I know it worked because I tried using my brothers Rogers sim and it worked. I followed the guide posted on XDA on how to unlock AWS bands, but it did not work. When I flash the AWS file with QPST, it all went well. No error messages. It rebooted my phone but I still can't pick up a Wind Mobile signal. Does anyone know where I went wrong? Would leaving the Wind sim card in while flashing caused this?

G935v flashed for gsm, question?

Long story short, I received a 935v (from a family member) had an frp lock dropped it off at a "cell phone repair shop" they flashed it to a gsm network provider. I am not willing to give up Verizon. Any way to flash it back to the Verizon rom? Anything that will work on their cdma network?
Just noticed how vague my question was (my bad). However I found the answer since it was flashed with bootloader 5 phone is pretty much bricked until Verizon updates to the bootloader 5.
G935V flashed to AT&T
I was thinking of flashing my 935V to a more compatible AT&T phone. My 935V is missing LTE band 12 and 17.
Would you know if flashing it with the G935U for AT&T firmware will add those bands?
I understand it removes the bloatware but was curious what bands if any are added or removed.

Strange Network Issues With Unlocked SM-G935P (Sprint) on MetroPCS

Hey guys, I could use a little help here. I've done some firmware flashing on phones years ago, so I'm not a total noob, just haven't needed to in a long time.
Anyway, I recently picked up an unlocked Sprint S7 edge (was a really good deal) and I'm trying to use it with Metro now. The issue is this. If I set the network to GSM mode, I can make phone calls just fine, but data is totally not functioning. If I switch it to LTE/CDMA mode, the data works beautifully, but I can't make or receive any phone calls. It just instantly hangs up if I try to dial out or goes to voicemail if someone calls me.
I've activated the IMEI with my carrier and verified that the phone is indeed unlocked. I'm guessing this is just some annoying Sprint bug put in there to make the phone not work right on other providers. Any ideas what needs to be done? Do I need to run a third-party ROM, flash a different modem to it? Something else?
I really appreciate any tips here.
What firmware is the phone running?

Hi Ivpre,
Thanks for responding. The phone is running Software version G935PVPU6BRD2, baseband version G935PVPU6BRD2, it's HW revision 7.0 and Android 7.0. Kernel version is 3.18.31-12623509.
I've tried using a few SM-G935U ROMs but they all have failed so far and left the phone in a boot loop. Only by reflashing a Sprint ROM am I able to successfully flash it.
I assume I'm just not selecting or finding a ROM that the same or newer version, as I've read about the downgrade issues with the bootloader. Any idea how to match one? I'd be fine with pretty much any ATT/T-Mobile/Metro ROM since that should fix my issue for the time being. A factory unlocked ROM would be nice though.
I have a T-Mobile Sim (same network Metro uses) in my unlocked Sprint S7 Edge. Network mode is set to Automatic and everything works fine.
Did you Add the APN for T-Mobile? I had to add the T-Mobile APN https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-28006
And the ALSO add a second APN named internet, with no other values changed. The 2nd one is the one selected, not sure why, but it works that way.
I would like to flash a T-Mobile Rom or the U Rom but they are on Baseband 4, which will not work since our phones are now on Baseband 6(5th number from the right in the firmware version.)
Did you try changing the APN settings?

So you are using the Sprint firmware on T-Mobile? Everything works well? I'm thinking of jumping to cricket this summer, but one phone is stuck on b5 (the other is still rocking 4), so I was a little worried. So basically you just put in the SIM card and added the APN's?

Yes it was working fine with a T-Mobile Sim card and edited APN's. It is now back on Sprint because T-Mobile coverage is poor/non existent inside my work. I will be porting one of my SERO lines to T-Mobile but keeping one with Sprint. T-Mobile only uses Band 2 and 4 where I live, If you live somewhere that has band 12, it may not be unlocked in the Sprint Firmware.
