Managed to Root Kindle HD 7, OS 7.4.9 - 7" Kindle Fire HD General

Managed to Root Kindle HD 7, OS 7.4.9
after long search,,,,,could not find and was end up with nothing
till i remember once, that i had rooted chinese tab vis some private app....
so i give it try on the Kindle HD 7, with the last OS 7.4.9,,,,and capooooooooom
it worked, and rooted.
try it for yourself
http://www.kingoapp.com/?utm_source=Android ROOT
and then i used this link to make the kindle dual boot, so i do not lose the amazon feel.

Bin4ry root works, too. Kingo Root is referred to as "untrusted" by many developers because it installs a "fishy" app to the system.

did not work for me at all, i used the v31 totally did not work
and after reviewing allot of thread, allot have same my issue...cannot root with the new 7.4.9
so what to do now? am rooted using it

I used this method meant for kindle 7" 2013. Works perfectly on my Kindle fire hd old gen.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544736
Use root_script.zip and then sideload superuser.apk
7.4.9 Works great.
Tried Binary v31, v33, v34, v36 - didnt work. I read somewhere that after using bin4ry v31, even if it shows error, have to run qemuboot after running v31. I didnt try this.

did not work at all...tried it alaready

Towelroot will work 100% no doubts about it.

what worked for me
i used bin4ry v.35 for my kindle fire hd running 7.4.9
i did my friends kindle (same model) using bin4ry v.33
and my brothers kindle fire hd (same again) using this threat

This. binary works fine for Kindle Fire HD's. Those running a 2013 without camera and HDMI will need to use firerooter.

I used kingroot to root 5 kindle fire HD 7" tate devices no problems found

just chiming in to say that Kingo Root worked on mine running 7.5.1 when all others mentioned here did not.

BArt.

kindle Fire

I just got my Amazon Kindle Fire 2 days ago and i love it. I want to know if ther is a full 100% original factory stock rom to restore and the step by step instructions to reinstall it? I wanted to root and try to install some roms but i need the full stock and recovery to install the roms. I never rooted the kindle before and i never used roms and i dont know what the full stock file is called or anything so i need info and help. I have successfully rooted my android phones and the samsung galaxy tab 7 plus. And i can change roms on them roms too but i have 0% experience on the amazon kindle. My mom got me this for me its a late christmas present and it will crush my heart if i screw it up with no way back to full stock. So i have to be extra carefull. Does anybody know if amazon is going to release android 4 ics for the kindle fire because that is what i want is the ics update and the only way i can see the ability to get it is istalling one of the roms from this site?
Only way you'll see ICS on this device is via CM9 or similar.

KFU will do a lot for you. You can root and install TWRP via the Kindle Fire Utility. Read up and you should be good.

when you follow my guide it will walk you through video tutorials. when you install twrp you are able to back up your stock rom and flash back to it at any time... Here is my easy to follow guide and video links with troubleshooting just in case you run into problems that are similar to everyone else that is new to this... Good luck and remember to hit that thanks button if I helped you:

[Q] Amazon Video player (sorry i'm a KF noob)

I'm sorry if this has been answered already but searching for amazon video gave me way to many results.
I just bought it yesterday and I'm running Energy Cm9. I wanted to know if there is a way I can still play my amazon videos.
BTW ICS saved me from returning the KF. Hated the stock 'Amazon Experience'
Thanks.
Can you link to the post that worked for you? I just got mine today and there are a few posts to root. But it seems not all are recommended.

All I did (i'm using windows 7 64) downlod the Kindle Fire Utility http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889. Also I have my windows in DEV mode since I run unsigned drivers for others tasks.
I just followed that guide and was rooted in less then 10 mins. Just took me a while to realize I had to press the power button to get in to TWRP.
also i just installed perm root then TWRP. my fire was on 6.2.2. After that tried a few roms. Found ICS to be the most user-friendly. CM7 , just felt unnatural to me.

[Q] KFU - Just Help!

Hello Peeps,
Firstly, Im new to this, secondly I'm nowhere near knowledgeable for this undertaking.
So, Ive got a first Gen KF, running factory software version 10.4.6. I got it last year for Xmas and basically forgot I had it until now.
I'd much rather run a version of Android that will actually let me do what I want to do.
I've tried downloading the latest version of KFU I can find v9.9 but it just says its offline, tried reloading drivers a couple of times, all setting are allowed on the KF itself.
Is there a newer Utility anywhere that doesn't require Linux?
I have a laptop running Windows 7 Pro.
I'm hoping someone out there can help me as I don't want to buy a tablet if I don't have to.
Thank you
according to your software version you have a kindle fire 2 !
look and go for help in the corresponding forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/kindle-fire-hd
Yes and as a warning don't use kfu on and 2nd gen device, you will hard brick it.

Kindle Fire HD 7" 11.3.2.2 root?

I recently got a Kindle Fire HD 7" and was curious if there is a 11.3.2.2 root. I plan on flashing CM11 or some other form of a 4.4 KitKat rom.

That is the 2013 kindle fire hd, its not flashable, well it is but only with a kindlewater rom because we can't get around it's locked bootloaded. So because of this we can't flash a custom kernel, and there are no 4.4 based roms available for it. I'm not the best with memorizing info about the 2013 but it should be rootable, i don't remember which version of the os wasn't rootable but all in all even the latest os can be rooted, but you need a fastboot cable first which i assume downgrades it then roots it, or maybe not idk.

This seems a bit circumspect. While excited, I am not willing to brick my Kindle to get the new update. Does anyone know if it is possible to install this in a slot rather than on your daily running rom?

You need to flash new boot.img to use this update. So...only stock slot update. And lose root and safestrap for indefinite time.

Okay. I went back to unrooted stock to await the update, but forgot how annoying it was. Your screenshots do imply that the update has a better ui, Thanks.

Updated succesfully for hdx 7
p/s : Can't not root with towel root
Probably going on a long shot here, but how about Framaroot?
So, I bit the bullet. It is nice so far. Does anyone know where sub debugging went? Without that, no root.
Edit... It is, oddly enough, right where it is supposed to be. Tap your serial a few times to enable developer options. Still, no towelroot as advertised.

I regret to upgrade the Fire OS4
.....there is no new features
and towelroot can not work on that...
I just want to know how to downgrade to 4.2.2....

Read near the end of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2782159&page=20
So far, this is the only method we know of to downgrade on higher firmware versions.
However, keep in mind that the instructions were written for up to 13.3.2.6/14.3.2.6. As such, it may very well brick your device.
Perhaps @kaeru00 may have some input on this.
Yeah, This method can’t work for now。

Because many files have been changed。
This method will brick the device。。
I think I need to wait for a long time.
Thank you all the same。
I think this version 13.4.1.1 is unofficial of Amazon . We only have download link of HDX 7 but not HDX 8,9 , in case the NEW HD 8,9 had Sangria official .
This version is official. Maybe some bugs were found in appolo and we will see x.4.1.2 at this week for both devices . Or just apollo's link will alive. Anyway this is Fire OS 4 .
About downgrade...Without root it is impossible.
About "new features" .. All of this was described here - https://developer.amazon.com/public...mp-The-Next-Generation-Of-Amazon-Fire-Tablets Any surprises.

One nice new feature is widgets are supported out of the box. There is a bug where it pretends to let you select a default launcher, but it does not stick.
Someone tried Vroot on this build?
