I own a rooted Note 3. (Take a look to the attached screenshot)
An OTA upgrade has been notified and downloaded. But I haven't installed yet because I think I'll lost my root if I do that thing.
Is that right?
Is there a "safe" way to upgrade my Note's firmware without loosing root?
This thread is about Galaxy Note 3 Original Android Development? what is being shared?
Elsewhere, there is a sub forum named, Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone.
I've had my tab for about a month now and I'm looking at rooting it with z4root 1.3.
Im new to rooting android devices and I've just got a few questions for those that have already rooted their tabs.
1 – Does it wipe existing data ?
2 – Will I have issues with updating with official firmware at a later stage?
3 – Are there any other potential problems I should be aware about?
Thanks
Rooting - getting superuser/admin access to all files in the tab.
Unroot - user access to certain/controlled assigned files that you can see but cannot edit or delete them.
Eg. Those pre-installed apps that you may want to delete.
Hey guys. Well, I just got an update message for my Note 3 and decided to quickly download the file. The problem here is I did abit of research and read the BOOTLOADER will also be updated. This would mean that I wouldn't be able to downgrade back to Jelly bean. So after downloading the file I didn't update my Note 3.
So my question is, how do I update to kitkat without updating the BOOTLOADER for samsung galaxy note 3 n9005. I heard something about downloading the file and updating it through Odin. Can someone please give me a step by step guide please.
Thanks guys.

Updating bootloader is a mandatory.
Hi all, I've Googled myself to death but it's just information/misinformation/old information overload. I don't know what's still valid, what's the wrong device, etc... I'm just generally unclear. Especially since my Note 3 is the Hong Kong version, 32Gb, with KitKat already installed when I bought it new.
The X Note thread has instructions for Jellybean users, and rooted KitKat users, but my phone is neither. RDLV isn't for me apparently, Kingo is bad news I've read... Lost. Every guide I find, I don't really trust amid the HK-this and outdated-that.
So, questions.
1. Does this sound right:
Step 1. Root phone in order to install TWRP or CWM recovery.
Step 2. Do EFS backup using mentioned recovery.
Step 3. Download the intended ROM.
Steps 4+. Follow instructions as listed in the X Note release thread.
2. How do I actually root the phone? Asking not because I can't find info, but because I can't find info I know is still valid.
3. Is the 32Gb Hong Kong Note 3 actually different to the international version? I know the 16Gb is, but 32?
4. Ultimately, can I put X Note on my HK Note 3?
5. I haven't even mentioned Odin. Where does Odin come into this, and what is it?
Baseband is N9005ZHUENB5,
Many thanks, I know it's a lot of messy questions but there's just so much old info to wade through now, this is the only way to know I'm reading what's current.
so I got a Galaxy s5 in august. The phone is awesome as is, but I really want it rooted. I tried towelroot, but that failed because my phone runs on kitkat 4.4.4. I then tried Odin3 v1.85 to attempt it. This didn't work either. What other things can I try?

Hello,
Generally rooting a samsung device is fairly generic. However before I suggest a method I need to know the model number and variant of it you're using. Some devices have locked bootloaders which may require a different method to avoid damaging the device.
Hello

Google : cf autoroot galaxy note 3 xda forums. Follow the rest there. You will trip Knox counter and lose warranty.
Go to development forums for note 3 and search for more methods. And read to pick up right files for 4.4.
Best way is to install a custom recovery, TWRP for example (see dev section), and then flash the SuperSU zip package from that recovery and you will be done. Get the zip package from here, https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip
