Go into SuperSU and remove Root Explorer. Reboot. Then run root explorer again and you should be prompted to grant root again.

Go to your app drawer and open up super user. Then click on root explorer and grant it access. You might have to long press it if taping on it doesn't work

Hei!
I've just installed Chainfire 3D on my Iconia last night and when I try to install the driver, it show me this error:
CF3D driver
ERROR
Could not write to /system
I'm on root and I don't have any recovery installed
Thanks
Did it ask you to allow root access to the app? Sounds like it did not get proper root access. When all else fails, reinstall.

A lesson. Root and /System RW are not the same thing.
You need to open your file manager, (ESFile Explorer, Root Explorer, etc), and set your /System to RW
Then install the app again.

Hi!
I've got a problem with root access of an app, it just doesn't ask for root permission but gives me a warning that it needs root access.
I already tried to use superSU instead of Superuser, but it didn't work. I unrooted and rooted the phone back, didn't work either. I'm sure the phone has root permission because after the rooting superuser asked me to give root permission to "system" and I also managed to write files in the obb and data folders.
It's driving me mad because it seems that the root is working but the app just don't ask for root permission.
P.S. The app is Freedom, v1.0.6
Thanks for the help!
What app did you mean which cant get root permission?

I have a rooted s4 (with 4.4.2).. I'm trying to use ES File Explorer to change permissions on a root folder but it won't change the permissions. After I change them and then go back to the folder it just reverts to its original state. When I tried to use Root Browser to change the permissions it just gave me an error message saying that I couldn't do that. Does that mean my phone is only partially rooted? Or something else?
Sounds like you have no root at all.

Mate ,
Did you check the settings of ES?
top left corner /settings menu / root Explorer ( set to on) and set the options you need (rw, hidden folders.....)

I have made sure of those settings. .
And ES File Explorer does have Supersu permission.

It is like in that picture.... But it still doesn't work. I just switched from Supersu to Superuser and took this screen shot. I'm sure it has to do something with the letters that are red (in the screen shot). I just don't know enough to know what it means.

Something is not right , if you are root and your explorer setting are right there should not be any problem to change permission
when you first installed / open ES or root browser it ask you for SU rights , you said you did , in supersu it show you a list of app with SU rights , they were there?
Install Titanium Backup , it will ask you for SU , grant , go to Backup / restore , select any app there click on it on the menu that pops up select freeze...does it let you do it? then you are root , if not then there is a problem with your root

Make sure Solid Explorer was granted root permission in SuperSU. Also in Solid Explorer settings, tick show root storage.

Check in SuperSU apps and logs sections if Solid Explorer is there. You should see Solid Explorer there.

Try x-plore. In configuration>root access set superuser+mount rewritable.
It could replace any system file without we have manually resetting the permissions.
