LG G2 Display Issue - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello dear Xda Forum Members,
two days ago i noticed a annoying Issue about my LG G2, im very worried and sad because the LG G2 is a fantastic Smartphone with a Monster Battery Power. Every time i tap on display it looks like i would tap on a TFT screen. I dont know how to explain it, the display do waves like i would press my finger on a led screen while its on, it look a bit like waves.
I asked in many forums now but no one noticed that kind of this problem yet. Its the second LG G2 where i noticed that problem.
Mostly i noticed it on darker background or some games and 100 percent screen brightness.
Sorry but my english isnt that good, i hope you guys can help me.
Thanks in advance

Yeah I'm not getting any ripples at all, on any background or brightness. There's something wrong with your phone if it ripples that easily. Maybe there's something in this thread that can help you

Ok thank you for your answer, the link helped me. I will RMA it tomorow.

My screen ha flickering issue, but it happens only sometimes. If I swype on the screen, or touch it it goes away, or it gets better. It is a bit random. Do you have any idea what can couse this? It is really annoying

this is a common problem I've had with basically every smartphone I've ever owned.... the only thing I return phones for is for dead pixels (not as common) it's just one of those things man
i had the samsung moment for a few days with the brightness all the way up and it never had this problem. it only seems to be on htc devices, even the moto droid doesnt have this issue.

Same here, but not just on smartphones, but pretty much every single backlit LCD device I've ever owned. You're not noticing the problem on the Moment because the screen most likely doesn't have a backlight due to the AMOLED technology.
is there any way to prevent it doing further damage? one hero i owned got so bad it was turning purple on every black screen, it got progressivly worse each day
No clue. It really shouldn't be getting any worse unless something weird is going on with the LCD screen itself (that's what your problem sounds like), rather than just a little bit of light leaking through the corners.
I always thought those were just the light sources for some of the backlighting...

Screen issue

Hello Guys. I have a SGS for two days now and is great.
But whem i see the screen when it's turned off and it is under heavy sunlight, i see some gray horizontal lines in te middle of de screen.
There are very tiny but there are there. And you only see them under direct sunlight when the screen it's turned off.
Should i worry or i it's normal?
For the record, i never drop it or hit it with anything.
I would appreciate a quick answer to know if i have to return it or not.
Hi! I have a Galaxy too and i also have a horizontal lines and also it looks like the glass is scratched from inside. But that is only visible from direct sunlight and not in any other condition. I say this is pretty normal so you dont have to worry about that you just enjoy your super duper phone)).
Thanks for the answer.
But it doesn't look like like scratched glass, because there is one line that is wide than the other(a bit more) and perfectly rectangular.
Do they form a large rectangle shape? It's the motherboard or something visible through the screen, you can see it on any SGS. Nothing to worry about.
I asked the same thing on another forum and was told this.
I have the line too, but it ain't straight. Under heavy sunlight it's visible on a working screen as well. Don't know if this is normal.

theres only one that has a ractangle shape, the others two are only lines
it could be the motherboard. i didn't think it about it.
Thank you very much for the answer.
Anybody else?
Incredible, i looked for this in direct sunlight and with a high lumen lamp but didn´t se any line or something. Now i used my 21 LED Lamp with very powerfull blue light and now i can clearly see a big box with strange lines on the top. Unfortunetley i cannot explain this XD. I will try to make a photo with my Cam and post them.
Ok, my cam cannot make a photo, the light of the ledlamp ist too powerfull and now the batteries from the cam are out of power... But it really looks like the motherboard of the phone. Just strange that i can´t see this in direct sunlight as others.
Someone in this forum says that is the motherboard through the screen.
Today i watched more closely and there a vertical line in the left side of the screen that connects with the other two horizontal line.
It has the form of a circuit. but i cannot confirm this. i need people who confirm this.
It is only visible in direct sunlight when the screen is off. When the screen is on, the lines dissapears. Even in sunlight.
I didnt look if my screen have some lines or not when turned off.. i dont care at all.. im just wonder why u call it as "screen issue" if u dont have problem with your screen when turned on at all..
Why people keep searching for some faults or some pathetic details.. and not enjoying their lovely device
These threads and finds just might fool more people and they will start searching for it aswell since they were happy at all..
just my opinion..
I' am really enjoying this phone, i am a former user of a N96, So believe me that i'am really enjoying my SGS.
Please don't get me wrong. I don't say that the phone has a problem. It's only a detail that caught my eye. And i want to know if it's normal. Thats all.
This is perfectly normal. rest assured.
Thank you guys for the feedback.
I'am still a bit nervous with this phone. I worked nearly three months to buy it. Paid $900 bucks for him (Unlocked). I live in Argentina and things here a bit overpriced.
So. you now understand the reason of so much questioning? And Jumpiness?
Damn dude was it worth it?

Every single cent.
If you had had a n96, you'd understand.
Double post
Sorry for the couble it's just to confirm that is normal on every SGS.
I searched it on google and find this:
http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s/140297-galaxy-s-transparent-screen.html
It results to be normal. It's just a circuit or a type of connector. Look the last picture.

[Q] Display issues on Omnia 7?

Hi guys,
I played with a Omnia7 at a local T-Mobile store yesterday. While I absolutly like the device and the colors of the OLED display I noticed a small issue: It looked like a few items (probably the ones beein showed most often) wrer like "burned" into the display. E.g. on a light background I could allways guess the Line "Windows Phone" and the logo at the top of the display. This stayed that way regardless what application I've been running.
So my question is if someone else ever notices things like that on her/his Omnia 7? I would guess thats due to the device beeing switched on all day long for months now so that the display has allready seen some sort of damage...
Nope, mine is working fine.
btw, i may experienced some similar issue on my previous device, the htc touch pro running wm6.5. some part of the screen just stayed there like a gloomy shadow for some time, esp when the screen is in dark backgrounds. i wonder if it is a design flaw or because of the ROM i'm running.
take a look at what happened to me! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=973337
That happens to OLED screens if their left on for long.
One of the reasons we dont have the option to leave the display always on in our phones.
Generally it mainly only happens to display phones since their screen is nearly always on and stay in the same place.

Thats actually what I guessed, both.
I have my screen set to 5 mins (just for the sake if im on a game and dont want the app to tombstone and wait for a long reload)
But have no issues so far
The only complaint i have with AMOLED screen is the damn clarity is so poor compared to LCD's.
Where as it was crisp clear on SLCD on my HD7, the clarity on the SAMOLED screen reminds me newspapers wher you can see the squares in text and its not clear.

GS3: Viewing Angles and bluish tint

Hi everyone. After GS1, GS2 I've bought GS3.
Really disappointed for the viewing angles (on whites/grays), the worst I've aver found in amoled/ips lcd recently.
As I tilt the screen 15-20 degrees (normal use movement exspecially when you write/use it with one hand) during mail, web, whatsapp all the whites begin to show a sort of polarized/light blue reflection that seems to be caused by Gorilla Glass/amoled interaction. Very very annoying and tiring for my eyes, and of course not beautiful to see on a 600€ 4,8" display.
On Italian forums I have to say 90% of users experienced this, but maybe in my GS3 this effect is more prominent, difficult to say, I cannot compare by now.
I'd like to have feedbacks from you, don't know if return it and buy a new one.
Cheers.
Im swapping mine in store for the same reason.

Hi.
Is the new one replaced better?
I never understood why viewing angles were a problem. You're using your phone wrong if you need to view it at a 20 degree plus angle.

Never had viewing angle issues with past phones. Never.
With this GS3 simply cannot move it, or I have a blu reflection.
Just want to know if it's just mine.
It's the same with all amoleds ...but I don't think it affects the usage that much and it's only noticeable on plain white backgrounds ...
Haven't been to swap it yet. Im going tomorrow i'll let you know. Been having call issues were it sounds like I've gone under water about 1 min into some calls.
My mate works in a phone shop and said he swapped 3 sgs 3 for call issues today alone

I have exactly the same thing on the lower part of the screen. The grey's temperature is "colder" than the rest of the screen. If you test the screen with "*#0*#" with the three diff colours is fine, the "issue" is only with white and grey background.

I see but the thing is i had sgs1, two sgs 2 ( white and black), two galaxy nexus (white and black), all of them had a blue tint when viewed at an angle .... Though I also know many have said that they don't have tint but I never got any galaxy without tint just my luck I suppose... Htc one x slcd2 doesnt have that issue but battery life is too poor on it that's why got sgs3...sgs3 is superb in every way..

This sound quality issue sounds very much like a problem described in other threads.
Perhaps you have already seen this, but if not, be aware that the problem has been solved by the majority of people simply by switching OFF the "noise reduction" feature under "Call Settings" (it's set ON be default)
Thanks for the reply but I had seen the other threads and switched off noise cancellation but still suffered from the "underwater" problem
Thanks
Nik

Sorry for the delay
Sorry for the delay in replying to this thread. I have just got back from the Carphone Warehouse where I checked four different Pebble Blue S3's...guess what.....They all had a Purple tint to them.
When They where first booted up they looked "OK" but when I turned the brightness all the way up and open a white webpage like google you could see a purple hue/tint to the screen but it looked fine when you look at it straight on,
I only have another 4 day before I can exchange mine for a new phone, seriously considering getting a HOX instead at this point. Or failing that sitting in a Samsung Service centre until I find one that doesn't have this awful tint.
I'll keep posting on this thread if I manage to find ones without the tint but I've got a feeling that the CPW UK has got a bad batch in at the moment.
My screen seems okay in regards to tint overall but the top 20% of the screen or so is bluer othan the rest and it gets gradually worse as you get to the top edge. At first it didn't bother me so much but now it's starting to get annoying =(

Will screen burn in be an issue like on the G5?

Being a big LG fan and owning numerous LG phones over the years, I think I join the community when I say the G5 was a flop. I enjoyed the phone over the last year, but it had many quirks that should not exist for a flagship phone. One of those quirks being screen burn in. I feel it started about the 7 month mark and is only getting worse. What worries me is that the new G6, which I very much looked forward to, has the SAME screen!!!! Isn't burn in just going to be an issue on that phone as well or is there more to burn in that maybe I am aware of such as phone temp, heat dissipation and so on?
LCD shouldn't burn in.
Are you sure you don't have a fault with the display on the G5?
I have read about it in multiple forums. Its possible its a fault in the display, but its not just mine.

It`s not burn in, it`s image retention
I have the same issue. Hoping it's not same for the G6.
I was have same problem on g3, g4 and now on g5. I change screen (g5) but same problem
Screen is "same" so i think problem will be on g6
I had a Nexus 5 for 2 years and never had image retention.
I deliberately avoid amoled, so the last half a dozen or more phones I've had are LCD (some of which the display will have been made by LG if not the phone) and never had image retention.
Even my Sony TV has an LG panel.
The last good LG phone was G2, others had burn in issue, I'm pretty sure that G6 will have it.
I know that the technical name isn't burn in but ir looks the same and happens to every LG G3,4,5,V10,20 soon or later.
PS: I was a big LG fan due G2 but got disappointed.
I had "always on" turned on, on my g6
can confirm the clock has burnt in

My LG G6 has a screen burn in that will not go away. Phone is 2 months old. Only noticeable on a light background. It is of the game Pokemon Go the poke ball at bottom of screen is burnt in. Haven't played the game in a week and burn in remains.
