I cracked just the glass of my s4 and want to replace it with gorilla glass, but the only glass I can find is tempered glass or it doesn't specify what type it is. I don't need a screen or digitizer. Where is the best place to but a replacement gorilla glass for a galaxy s4?
The glass front and digitizer is one unit.
You can replace just the glass, you just have to use a heat gun to remove the adhesive. The only time you have to replace the digitizer is if it is not fully working, mine is. There are many videos on YouTube on how to remove the glass and replace it.
I found one place that does sell gorilla s4 glass but I think you need to buy UV glue when the tempered glass versions I have found are peal and stick. Ideally I would like a gorilla glass s4 with the peal and stick adhesive, if not I'll buy the hole unit but that is about over $100 more expensive than just the glass.

Hi, has anyone disassembled omnia 7 screen before? May I know whether the glass and lcd are glued together and whether it is difficult to pry open the screen? (I have pried an ipod touch screen before)
*I just broke my omnia glass and thinking of getting a replacement from ebay but the lcd and glass package is too expensive (>$100) while the glass only is below $20 so I was thicking of getting the glass only.
Thanks
First of all, how the hell did you manage that - it's Gorilla Glass!
There is a tear down of the phone here
Quite complicated and delicate process unless you are familiar with doing this kind of thing.
As for the glass being connected to the digitizer, yes I think they will be stuck together with some sort of glue resin. Probably not the best idea to prise away and try and fit yourself, I suspect you'll be disappointed with a homemade attempt to stick a new pane of glass on.
I actually couldn't find the glass-only on eBay, I could only find the £80+ glass and digitizer items.
Claim it on household insurance, send it back to Samsung or save up the £80?
Hi, I broke my Nexus 4, the display still works but touch works only on upper part, I have found a glass lenses replacement for about 14 dollars I dont want to buy a whole new lcd as it cost about $100.
On ifixit I havel also found this:
The glass is fused to both the display and the display frame. So don't crack the glass unless you're good with a heat gun, or you're fond of replacing the glass, display, and frame together ($$$).
So are there any guides how to do it with heat gun?
hiya,
so I'm looking for opinions on a good brand name tempered glass screen protector.
I usually buy nuglas but there note 4 one doesn't properly cover the screen which is disappointing...
The phone glass its broken, and the lcd and touch its perfect, so... I want change the glass, but, I have to change the glass with the touch, or I can change the only glass?
Thanks! and sorry for my bad english
A glass only repair is really really hard and you will probably break the screen. You should watch alot videos what to do and what not to do when replacing a glass. If you want to do a glass repair, you would better have money for the glass and the lcd+glass combo, cuz if you break the lcd, your phone will be.. unusable. a lcd+glass repair is so easy, u just put the whole thing on the phone (but before that put some really sticky doublesided tape) put the connector and thats it.
just a recommendation, get a case and a glass screen protector, i have a shockproof case and a regular glass protector
Hi everyone !
I dropped my Samsung S10+ last weekend and the front glass broken, but the screen are working fine.
I know that this kind of damage are not covered by Samsung warranty, so I checked with some local repair shop.
No one seem to replace just the glass, their replace the screen and the glass together, this mean, a expensive reparation cost.
I asked them why their don't replace only the glass, but I only receive anwser like 'We don't replace glass, we change the screen who come with the glass"
Do you know why their won't replace the glass only ?
I seen on Amazon some front glass at only 40$ CAD with tool, UV adhesive and lamp. I confortable to do it myself. I watched some videos, but seem that everyone dissasemble the phone completly to change the glass on the screen.
Why not just removing the glass directly ?
Thank you for your anwser !
I think it is because the oled panels in this phones are so thin that separating the front glass from them would break them.
