Was wondering if I am the only one that cannot download apps directly from AT&T to my phone (such as the AT&T WiFi app) after flashing with a cooked rom? I put Dutty's Holy Grail R6 on and now I cannot download. Is it just me or does the "Phone Identity" (that now states: Touch Diamond2 T5353) block you from downloading when you select your phone as the "Pure" on their site?
Help
Well, I copied the installation cab for Wifi to my SD card when I still had the stock rom. I have since installed this app on every custom rom I have loaded and it works perfectly.
Good for you.... I was lazy and forgot to grab stuff from my stock rom. I cannot even connect to device:home on the thing now. I read a couple of other threads with similar issues on the Tilt2, but I cannot find a resolution.
If you send me a PM with your email address I can at least help you with the wifi app.
PM sent. Thanks!!
Hello, I have been using this site for a long time now but without registration. I am trying to root my mytouch but I have no clue which tutorial to use. There are a lot of tutorial I can't seem to find the right one. So my question is that can someone please give me a link to a tutorial of how to root my mytouch.
The problem that I had was that I couldn't find one with my firmware, etc.
I have a My Touch 3g (w/ 3.5mm head-phone jack). Firmware 1.6.
So can anyone please provide me a link of where I should go to root my My Touch? Thank you very much I will really appreciate it. Also if anyone can post which roms I can use with my version of my touch, that'll be great. Thanks again!
Turn off your phone and press "power+back" and type inn those numbers back on this thread, and we can see if we find anything.
Ok, whats up guys, First off, My name is Silver, and I come to you in dire need of help.
Before I start, this is concerning the device, The Huawei Ascend (M860).
Recently, we here at myascend(dot)org have all been stuck on Android 2.1, and recently IcarusMod came out, and everyone updated to that.
But upon looking farther, I came across an 2.2 update that was released in China for the C8600 (The China Version of the M860). We tested it, and BAM! it worked...but with 2 problems. The Data Service and Wi-Fi did not work. Phone Calls and Text worked fine, but no Data. One of the Developers was able to crack the thing open and Deodex it and load it using Clockwork v2.5.1.8 (Which is how we got the phone calls working)
Apparently there are no APNs
I started doing some research and I thought that maybe if i transfer some of the system files like APN-Configs.xml into the zip, it might work. But alas, I failed.
MY QUESTION IS...Would a developer be nice enough to take this signed Froyo port and possible help make the Data work and Wi-Fi work. Here is the download for the Froyo Update(C8600)
(Note: FLASH USING CLOCKWORK v2.5.1.8)
Apparently, I cant post outside links, so if you could, please go to the site MyAscend(dot)org and you'll find my forum post under Development...Thanks...
Wrong forum I think.
bump?? This plox?
Check the build.prop for something like:
"rild.libpath=/system/lib/libhtc_ril.so"
Data wont work if it's pointing to the wrong, or a non-existent, file (correct me if i'm wrong).
Check your working ROMs and see what file it's pointing to, it might be different in the Chinese version.
Not got a clue about wifi though i'm afraid.
Ill do that! thanks, Ill talk to my friend about developing it....meh, this is gonna be a long project
I recently installed this Rom on my T-Mobile Vibrant Galaxy S and I cannot get any bars or signal to make calls. Im new to this whole flashing thing but, know how to add stuff and fix with directions, can anyone get this working please so i can use phone, if this doesnt work what can i do, I'm without a phone with no back up.
Well don't panic. It'd be best to check the forum from where you got the firmware, someone may have run into this issue already.
Alternatively just flash another rom, find one you like and follow their instructions.
(Edit 07.11.2011: I was able to extract and modify the ROM. Send me a PM after reading the thread if you want the download link.)
Hi everybody,
I am sorry to post this in the General section, but the forum would not let me post to the appropriate threads of the developer forums as apparently I am considered too noob. Anyway ...
I have an Iconia A500 on Acer_A500_4.017.07_EMEA_CUS7, rooted with IconiaRoot.
I am being offered the OTA update to Acer_A500_7.006.01_EMEA_CUS7, but do not want to install because I would loose root.
So I would like to download the ROM from the Acer website and modify it according to the procedure listed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18202192&postcount=19
I looked into this thread for the download link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14501467&postcount=1
Unfortunately, the link I need is not listed there. Does anybody know the link? Can I somehow extract it myself (I have root access and my A500 offers to update)?
Thanks a lot for your help!
Cheers,
Tim
Is it possible to accept the download and then halt the process once the download is complete? And then to copy the rom to your pc to fiddle with?
Sent from my A500 using xda premium
Hi,
I suspect that the download link might be extractable from the LogCat once I accept the download. But I am not sure if I can cancel the update process completely once I have accepted. So I am hesitant to try.
Cheers,
Tim
I understand if you just want to do it yourself. However, if that isn't the case this rom is all ready to go. Stock with only superuser and busybox installed. I've been using it for a while and it is rock solid.
There is another one too. I didn't try it out but, from the feedback I read, it is also working great for most folks...
Hi, and sorry for replying so late (I was on travel),
thanks a lot for the links, JdgM3NT4L! It is not that I actually _want_ to modify the stock ROM myself, but I have a European version of the A500 (EMEA_CUS7) and am therefore hesitant to just install a ROM based on a US version of the A500. I am not sure if there are actually any significant differences, but do not want to risk it.
I think I found the information on how to extract the path of the update in one of the threads of the developer forum (sorry, I don't remember exactly wherefrom):
3. Start a system update on the A500, and let the download start.
4. Start the Terminal Emulator (vt100), and type su . Then cd to the /cache area.
locate the file name of whats being downloaded. In my case: Acer_A500_1.141.07_4.010.11_COM_GEN1_1311224632952 _461992b1
5. Then on the PC create a full http path and do a download of the URL contructed
using the file name in your cache directory. Example:
http://cdn.acer.futuredial.com/Acer_...2_461992b1.zip
Click to collapse
I think I will try that. If it works I will report the download link here.
Cheers,
Tim
Hi again,
it worked like a charm. Here is the link:
http://cdn.acer.futuredial.com/Acer_A500_0.000.00_7.006.01_EMEA_CUS7_1316137080209_4c23a157.zip
The MD5 is: B80BB5A64BD694F1D615D4D3DD60C19A
Next I will try to modify the ROM according to these instructions:

Glad you got it. Good luck.
Hi again,
ok, I modified the ROM according to kekinash's instructions. It turns out the update script in the EMEA_CUS7 ROM is _not_ identical to the one in the COM_GEN2 version!
In line 27 of the script there is a very long entry starting with "retouch_binaries(...)". A handful of the entries in this long line are different in the EMEA_CUS7 ROM. I therefore replaced the line in kekinash's script with the one from the EMEA_CUS7 ROM. Everything else was identical.
I installed the ROM on my A500 and so far everything seems to work fine. But I will have to test it further to make sure there are no hiccups.
I guess other european users might be interested in the ROM image, but I am not sure if I can upload it or infringe any copyrights by doing so.
Cheers,
Tim
Hi,
My english is not good, so I hope you will understand.. I would be very much interested in your modifyed rom. I read the thread about unpacking and modifying, but I dont understand how to do it, possibly because of my poor english. maybe you couldt upload only the modifyed file, which I should change.
thanks
Udo
Hi Udo,
I will send you a PM with a download link for the modified ROM image. If anybody else would like to have it, please just ask and I will send you the link.
I played around with the ROM for some time. Generally, everything seems to work just fine!
One problem I encountered, though, was that the android web browser crashed badly and I had to reboot the tablet to fix it. Since then it worked fine. Also, Google Maps gave me a strange behaviour at some point: It just exited repeatedly without any error message (no force close). I do not know if these issues are related to the modified ROM image or if their appearance was just a coincidence. If anybody tries the modified ROM, I would be happy about feedback!
Ok, and the following is obvious: I take no responsibility whatsoever for any problems you might encounter when flashing this ROM image. Also, please follow the instructions given in kekinash's thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18146210&postcount=1
Cheers,
Tim
Hi again,
I updated the thread title so that people looking for the ROM have a chance of finding it.
Here is some more information. The MD5 of the modified ROM image is: D423B84727BFD91429490D319F30998F
In the meantime, I have tested the A500 with this ROM much more. The browser has not exhibited any further problems.
Google Maps continued to act up (kept quitting without error message repeatedly). In the Market, it was listed under "Not Installed", and I had the options "Install" and "Deinstall updates". Both options did not do anything at all. So something was clearly wrong. I still cannot say if this was related to the modified ROM or some other problem. Anyway, here is how I fixed it:
Removed Google Maps with Titanium Backup. Reinstalled from the Market. Converted it to System App again with Titanium Backup. Everything works fine now.
Cheers,
Tim
