I received this Galaxy S4 from a friend of mine who I no longer have contact with. For a while, I've tried upgrading from 4.3 to 4.4 using the regular in-phone option with no luck. It goes through the download and installation and optimization of apps but it still stays at 4.3. My friend had told me he had rooted and messed with the software on the phone but that it should be fine. I just can't seem to get the automatic update to work.
When I look in the 'About Phone' option, I see the following:
Software Version: L720VPUEMJA
Hardware Version: L720.08
Model Number: SPH-L720
Android Version: 4.3
Baseband Version: :720VPUEMJA
Kernal Version: 3.4.0-1927016

EDIT: I made a mistake in the title, the phone is E610.
As the title says that's my problem. I get an error after I launch the bat, I was following that guide.
The phone has the stock rom, I need some help to understand what could it be.

I think the problem is the Android version and I have to downgrade with kdz, but it doesn't find the phone for some reason. The drivers are installed.

Hi all,
I've got a GT-N7100 and I'm currently running Ditto Note 3. I struggled to find which firmware my phone was meant to run on stock. Its a South African phone so I downloaded the XFE 4.1.2 one for South Africa.
I tried installing that and in the process it lost the IMEI. I went back to DN3 and the IMEI is back and all is working. I really want to go back to stock 4.1.2. Is there something I'm doing that's wrong?
Screen when I was still on stock is the following:

Update your Kies. If this doesnt work reset your phone to factory data and then try to update. Or the best option is to download the official firmware through Sammobile. And next time post in Q&A section.
Make sure an upgrade is available for your phone carrier and or for your region.
If not, you can't update OTA or Kies.
Also make sure you are not rooted.
Then read the tutorial and use Odin if you really want an update.

update it manually there are many posts to show you how. but first check sammobile if its available an update for your country

Flash a custom recovery like TWRP, and flash the Hotspot mod, or custom ROM like Wicked X which has free Hotspot built in

After updating my friend had the option to show and hide navigation bar and I did not.
